I tested the Note 3 for USB 3.0 OTG connectivity.
I could not get Superspeed transfers, only USB 2.0 speeds.
I confirmed with the Charger Doctor and multiple USB devices on an unpowered hub that the Note 3 does output the full 900mA of current that a normal USB 3.0 port would. This means that the Note 3 is fully capable of outputting 900mA of current for OTG devices.
I confirmed that the Western Digital USB 3.0 My Passport hard drive (formatted to exFAT) was fully powered and provided sequential reads and writes.
However, the most I could get was 39MiB/sec, which indicates that it is operating at USB 2.0 speeds. Has anybody had success getting the Note 3 to operate at USB 3.0 speeds when using USB OTG?

Hi All
I am currently facing an issue with using a USB 3.0 Flash Drive on my N9005.
I recently bought a Kingston DTHX30/64GB from Amazon and the benchmark which I did personally at a IT Retail Shop at the mall using their AlienWare Laptop show that the USB Flash Drive is working perfectly at > 300/150 (W/R).
I bought an OTG Cable from a local online shop but the benchmark shows only 30/20 (W/R).
The only tests that I have yet to conduct is to borrow another N9005 to verify if the fault lies on the cable or my phone.
Anyone out there is facing the same issue?
Is this a firmware issue?
Pretty sure the standard OTG cables are usb 2.0 only. Need a OTG cable with the correct USB 3.0 connection.

The current USB 3.0 OTG comes from a Local Online Retailer in Singapore which got their cables from China too, but not sure if their source is reliable.
Anyways, I have ordered an OTG this time round that will be flying in to me from China. Let's see if this cable works.
Sorry for double posting as this is an update post.
The USB 3.0 OTG I personally ordered from China came today and I immediately put it to test.
The packaging and the cable is exactly the same as the one I bought from Singapore.
And the results? It's also exactly the same.
This time round, I am going down to Sim Lim Tower to get an Engineer to specially make one USB 3.0 OTG for me and I shall put that to a test. I think this will cost me like 15 to 20 USD (20 to 25 SGD)
I shall name my cables, OTG A (The one I initially bought online from Singapore), OTG B (The one I ordered from China) and OTG C (The one I get from Sim Lim Tower).
I have tested OTG "A" and OTG "B" using on my friend's N9005 and the results are the same.
The next test will be that, I will format my USB 3.0 Hard Drive to Fat32/exFAT and test using all 3 OTG cables.
Can it be my Kingston USB 3.0 Flash drive not compatible with the OTG Cable?
Please enlighten me. I saw somewhere on this forum that we need to activate USB3 on N9005 to use it?
I've been unable to get the SM-N900T to link up USB 3. I've been looking in the kernel source and doing some debugging and the USB 3 host controller isn't even registering a USB 3 device connected to the port. Just a USB 2 device. I've looked at some of the datasheets for the Snapdragon 800 processor in this phone and its not really clear if it supports USB 3 OTG, or just USB 3 MTP as a device.
I'd love to get a definative answer from samsung or qualcomm but for now i've given up on USB 3.0 OTG with the Note 3.
I too would love to hear if it is possible to get the phone to USB3 in OTG mode and not just MTP. I purchased 2 "USB3.0 OTG" cables expecting faster transfer speeds with my external USB 3.0 SSD or USB 3.0 memory sticks. No such luck.
When contacting the seller to inquire about the inability to transfer at superspeed, I was just given responses like it must be a bad cable and will issue a refund. I purchased 2 of these and both have identical transfers speeds.
Likely just get a refund as it looks like it may not be possible to switch the phone to USB3 for the OTG. Bummer.
I have a couple different cables coming today. If they both test at only USB 2 then I'm going to call it a fail.
What i really don't get is why the would put an xhci host in the snapdragon if they weren't going to support USB 3 in host mode.
Eric
I just posted some more results on USB 3 OTG support. I probably should have just put it in this thread but here is a link.
Short version. Still no luck

I've tried a variety of USB 3 OTG adapters and none of them have worked correctly. Suspect OTG functionality doesn't work with USB 3?
Okay
I have tested with 2 different 9005 and 3 USB3.0 OTG Cable from 3 different source.
Everything doesn't work. All possible test are conducted and test results are at USB2.0 speed.
N900 N9000 and N9005
N900 is the Note 3 Neo version. It has USB 2.0 only
N9000 is the Exynos version with USB 3.0
N9005 is the Snapdragon version wiht USB 3 ports but USB 2 speeds.
I want to buy this phone as I can use an Image App to control a camera, and then copy the SDXC card to a USB3 HDD.
Could someone kindly confirm with a quality USB 3.0 OTG cable that the N9000 Exynos version is capable of USB 3
speeds while operating as a USB 3 host ?

I have both a N900A and N900T rooted and running android 5.0.1 roms.
Having the same results as the rest of you, ~35Mb/s transfer speeds on usb 3.0 otg with a ssd. Quite disappointing.

Hi there
I have an issue with my Sofia based joying unit JY-UMS01N2D.
For usb thetherin purposes, I bought a usb>Lan adapter and a gli.net mt-300n. and: it works!
I connected the joying with the usb/lan adapter and from there with a cat5 to the gli.net mt300n device.
The problem ist; After sleep mode/reboot of the joying unit there's no lan connection anymore (to the gli.net mt300n).
Workaround: re-plug the cat5 OR usb/lan adapter
Does anyone knows, why does this happens? I guess it's not a usb/lan adapter driver issue, since the workaround with the re-plug of the cat5 helps also.
Are there some android setting that might have an affect on this?
regards & many thanks

I have what is hopefully a simple and straight forward question. I purchased this unit about 12 months ago https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot...&orderId=87843158798481&productId=32807153130 and I have both a DVR USB Camera and DAB+ Module connected to the 2 USB ports on the rear of the unit.
It appears that one of the USB ports is faulty, so I can only get reliable DVR or DAB+ but not both. If I were to buy a small, simple USB Hub like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/keb...-Splitter-Hub-Adapter-For-PC/32889011052.html, connected it to the working USB and then connected the USB Camera and DAB+ Module to the hub, would this work?
Thanks for reading!
I'm not certain if it works correctly on Android 6, but on my unit that has Android 8 i have a similar USB Hub connected that has a memory stick, the TPMS receiver and the receiver for a wireless keyboard, they all work correctly.
Taking into account how cheap a USB Hub is, i think it's worth checking it out.
Also, i managed to get one of the USB connectors into the glove compartment and connect the USB Hub into it, so the devices are easily accessible but not too visible.
Note, if you can take the unit out and send it to a service, they can probably fix the USB connector (the one that doesn't always work), it might have a loose connection, they sometime come loose and can be resoldered to the motherboard.
Also, if you open the unit and check the motherboard, some units have a 3rd internal connector that needs an adapter, not all of them though.
Hi!
I just bought Joying Intel Android 8.1. unit.
And I decided to put heatsink, and 5V fan.
My idea is to plug 5V fan into one of Joying USB ports.
My question is - does anybody knows how much output does those ports have (is it standard 5V spec, and 200+mA?)
Unit I bought is this one:
https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-e...0-car-sound-system-with-4g-sim-card-slot.html
And what are differences between USB OTG and regular USB port on this devices?
Thanks a lot!
Hi All,
I have a Kunfine unit. Just another Chinese clone, with the 2 usb ports connected to the back. This is the third one I have and I wonder if there is a difference in the USB ports? My DAB + USB adapter is only working on the port with 5 connectors while the one with 4 connectors doesn,t recognize him. They are wired the same so shouldnt make a difference.
TIA

No one....? Am I the only one with this ? Cause I was thinking, it looks like one port is V2 and the other V1.1. Can this be the point ?
That is not an Android Auto HU, so you aren't likely to get much in this forum. I would go ask in the Android HU forum.

According to this product page (for a TS10-type device) only the 6-pin USB port is capable of high-speed data transfer for CarPlay, etc. It says that the 4-pin is charge-only.
I'm in the process of integrating my own Kunfine UIS7862-based (TS10) unit. The 6-pin USB pigtail works with a USB flash drive and Android Auto. The 4-pin worked with the flash drive, but not AA.
Anyone else experience this?

Can you please post the System Info of your unit? Looks like this:
Aye. This it?
Are other devices working on the 4 pin USB port? E.g. an USB stick ?

If other devices are working then it's not for charging only. I may be an issue of too less power. Could be helpful to test with an active USB hub.
