I'm deciding between this and Zeaplus K18 (K8 3G). I like the fact that D5 is IP65 certified. K8 has a lot of support, surely we'll be able to root and tweak D5 as well.

Just be aware that they actually are on back-order. They currently have no stock at all.
All the info and guides from the K8 round watch thread will also work for this watch once it becomes available. This is the K8 mini - same watch http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_273835.html
Thanks, it's also listed on Everbuying and Tinydeal, but I'll purchase it after the holidays anyway. I advise others to do the same.
About TWRP 2.7.1.0 by cyrux75. Are there any issues running it on a smaller display? Probably doesn't have to be ported to D5 firmware, maybe just dpi changes.
To be honest they are the same watch.
I opened a thread for this one ages ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/sma...i-k8-round-smart-watch-android-4-4-2-t3250601
This thread and the K8 round watch thread were opened by sales reps - either gearbest or everbuying or similar. They do it get attention for their products.
Ok, great. I actually followed the k8 tread to about 30 pages and need to catch up.

My TWRP port was (laboriously ) adjusted for exact display resolution of the "big" K8 (400x400) so I suppose it needs to be modified for the "mini" resolution.

I just ordered the No. 1 D5 from Geekbuying.com for $115 USD, and I look forward to receiving it sometime in early February (usually 4-6 weeks regular, registered mail). I do have a question though, on the Geekbuying site there is no mention of cellular capabilities and in the videos I have seen there is no way to insert a SIM card, so what is the truth? Also, and I truly hope this is the case, can you change the gaudy leather strap for a nice metal one? I guess the truth will be known when I get my smartwatch.

no you can t change the stape! You cannot because inside the strap there are the GPS and GSM antenna like in the k18
I'm really interested in this watch and I have ordered it on gearbest presale. I hope I will get it when it is finally available. I have noticed (and answered) the k8 mini thread but I think this one is a little different at least it will have a different firmware. The case and the screenshots may look the same but the no.1 d5 claims to have access to google playstore and in the video above there is a playstore icon in the menu.

played with it a bit (got it from Tinydeal) and it does have Google Play Store and Google Play Services.
the ui takes some getting used to but atleast it's way better than that MTK crap. have to spend some more time playing with it for full review
The software is the same as the K8 mini. And that also has the play store. They are the same watch, same MTK hardware, same strap.

I am interested to see how the battery lasts with this new TFT screen. The original, larger K8 has OLED screen but battery runs out quickly......
I bought a GT88 off of ebay, brand new. Is there anything i'm missing with this thing? Particularly...
Well, i'll jump right to it. In the menues there is an option for apps, and "uninstall all".
Are there apps i can get for this thing?
Will it work with a freedompop sim card?
What extra things can i do with this beyond the simple menu?
I put a sim card in it... and nothing happened. I can't find how to set APN settings...
i DID find that there's a repository of watch faces as vxp files that are pretty easy easy to install by just putting in the microSD via the cable
Wonder how to fix Gt88 Smartwatch Display
Good Morning.
I have a Gt88 Smartwatch and it said and stated it was IP57 Waterproof so i was showering with it i dont know if screw was a little loose but the Watch Powers on but the Display isn't turning on, its turning on their is audio but the display isn't picturing, I tried opening it up and seeing if their is a display adapter or display ribbon but their isn't. I cannot figure out how to get the display picturing again, i tried to update all the drivers via My M32Cd i7 model Computer i also tried removing the Bluetooth device from devices on windows 10 and reinstalling and setting it up but the display isn't working but that is how all the new smartwatches should be Manufactured compute and function ( through the Computer and computers ) .. can you perhaps send me a video of the procedure in which fix the display.
Thanks.
Akeem Ricardo Wade Ross.
How do I put a password on a gt88 smartwatch?
Ok so I'm just going to 'not' think like a mad scientist for once and await the marvels that I hope a should be unveiled by Someone..
So I got a replica-ish Cast Dongle for ten bucks..
Standard micro USB to hdmi
mira/dlna/airplay support
1 gb ram x2core
Labelled as Aircast.
Noted Rockchip-set.
1. What is the best way to get more info on the hw ki like specific model etc?
2. The ugly landing page at 192168491 does very little and I've so far failed to pair with Win 7 pc
(mirror / bonjour / chromecast) detected nothing.
3. Android WiFi Direct works
4. Bubble / Local Cast sometimes works
5. Android YouTube app doesn't see same with kodi
My question is
What potential does this m6 device have..?
What kind of modifications are popular and safe?
(eg id like to run Kodi direct off this device, is that a possibility?
I basically want to turn it into a set top box / smart TV + mirroring would be bonus)
What's the potential here And where would be a good place to start?)
Never worked with media microcomputer so I'm all ears.
Tia
I am desperately seeking help......
I have just fitted a brand new Android 11 based head unit to my wife's car and I am having one issue in particular that is creating a lot of angst. My wife is not tech savvy and would simply like to jump in her car, start it up and have everything work inlcuding playing her favorite radio apps. I can have this work for her perfectly via Bluetooth Tethering when a toggle under ANDROID SETTINGS - CONNECTED DEVICES - PHONE - INTERNET ACCESS is switched on. However, this toggle reverts to off everytime the car is switched off and needs to be manually switched on eveyrtime to restore functionality. The unit supports wired Android Auto, but even then my wife does not want to pull the phone out of her bag everytime and plug/unplug. Is there any way the unit can remember the last setting or have it default to on? I have tried Macdroid app, but it does not offer this specific action. I have attached an image of the setting in question along with the specs of the head unit. Wifes phone is a Samsung Galaxy A52 runing Android 11. Help me save my marriage!

Hi, if unit has SD cards and USB drives in multimedia ports remove them first, then tweek settings again and then save settings (device will write in internal device memory) by shutting down device (remove key / shut down engine).
Repeat procedure if first time is not saved in internal memory (without SD cards or USB in ports).
After bootup again it will eventually write in internal memory and save settings.

Thanks for your reply, however there are no SD cards or USB drives. There does not also appear to be an option to 'save" settings.
It "saves" by it self when you turn device off (or remove key from contact). As for USB or cards, ok, you probably have master setings/factory settings in there that is entered with a pin code, do you know how to enter it ?
(thru infotainment)
We will go one step at a time.

Thanks very much for your reply! When I toggle the switch to on, it does not retain that setting when I turn car off and remove the key. I do have the passcode to get into the factory settings of the HU, but I have had a good look and cannot identify any setting which relates to my issue, that's not to say it doesnt exist.
Take a picture of your device factory settings please, or maybe it's better to record a small video.

Is this what you were after? Apologies if I misread your message.
Yes, let me see where can we find memory issues
Most likely it is in APP SETTINGS menu.
Play with settings untill you find correct setting, it will not harm device in any way, but prior to changing anything take a photo of each settings menu to avoid unpleasent changes that lead to app and config problems.
Hi everyone,
I recently got my hands on a beautiful Android TV set-top box, and I want to create a root for it to unlock its full potential. However, I'm new to this and I'm not sure where to start. First of all, i would like to do this for learning. I am very interested in the world of reverse engineering, and I would love to learn about android embedded systems and Android STBs. For the model I'm looking at, there is no ROM, no root solution and no one has obviously looked into it. This STB is sold by a French operator "Bouygues" and was designed by Arcadyan. The design is really cool, and especially it has a Toslink port, which interests me to transform it into a Volumio streamer.
I'm a high school student, and resources to study this stuff are hard to find. I mean the spark to start to know how to research more effectively... I'm looking for people who would be ok to tease me and teach me a couple of things I'm sure that in this forum, people have already touched similar things and would be happy to share their knowledge with me!
I've been at it for almost a month. I'm discovering more and more things, and it's super interesting and also frustrating when you're stuck. Here is an overview of where I am:
I can access the adb shell via a shared wifi connection. The box has two female usb ports but doesn't seem to allocate the USB debugging, and fastboot doesn't make the link.
At startup by pressing the reset button, I can access android recovery with two options: Reset image and Restart. A bit confusing.
I tried connecting the test points on an oscilloscope to get a JTAG, UART data stream, but nothing happens. After all, it wouldn't surprise me if I was wrong.
Model Specifications i've found:
SoC : Marvell/Synaptics BG4-CT
RAM : 2 Go
eMMC : 16 Go
micro SD card reader / 2 port USB 2.0
Android TV 9
1G RJ45
Custom android image :
Model Name : HMB9213NW
Here is an article about it : https://www.androidtv-guide.com/pay-tv-provider/bouygues-telecom-bbox-4k/
My english can be bad, i only speak native French, but reads a lot of documentation
Thank you mates for being on this incredible forum. You helped me a lot on other device repair stuff !
