Search/Read/Follow the main thread at talk.maemo.org...
It's been explained countless times why there probably won't ever by a fully polished/supported version that one can buy:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=90761&page=174
That thread used to be for the N9 & "other" devices, but it's recently become mostly for the N9.
This is the new thread focused mostly around Android devices (& there's threads @xda-dev ofc):
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92506&page=4
As it stands now the community version has hit a bit of a roadblock...
There may eventually be work-arounds, but it'll always be some steps behind Sailfish for Android & Sailfish devices.*
LT Nemo may be a better option for the N9, OR it may always remain quite "hack-ish" compared to Sailfish, time will tell.
*& even Sailfish for those devices is quite "beta-ish", esp. Android devices
I've seen a 2.5 mentioned elsewhere, but with 3.X out in the wild now (which our chipset doesn't support...thanks Nvidia) are they still actively working on bug-fixes for the 2.X series or have they moved on?
There are a number of issues that I have with this tablet that, to be honest, are starting to outweigh my love of it and seriously starting to damage my calm. No one glitch is catastrophic on it's own, but little annoyances that add up to a more frustrating experience than I think my money should have bought me. I can live with them if I have to; I can live with being annoyed and learning to work around it's "early adopter foibles" as I've started to call them, but I'm hoping it's still maintained and I don't HAVE to.
ETA - I should also edit it to add that most of my gliches seem to be caused by a less than strong wifi signal. This tablet seems to really really hate weak wifi and will start doing all kinds of funky stuff. Comparitively fewer glitches (though some) when connected to my wifi at home. But a truly frustrating experience as soon as I connect it to my terrible wifi at work)

Jide has your money and that's all about which they care. They have more resources working on free Remix for PCs than they do for the Ultra Tablet. They should rename it the Orphan Tablet.
Can you download the WIFI Analyzer app, please? And tell us what ur signal readings are.

Mouse Not working 100% with Jide Ultratablet
Hi Jide,
I have logged a few calls over the past year relating to my Bluetooth mouse that randomly disconnects from the Ultratablet from time to time and or when the mouse goes into power save mode. When this occurs, the only way to get the mouse to work again, is to un-pair the existing mouse on the tablet, then switch off Bluetooth, then switch Bluetooth back on and re-pair again from scratch. Obviously I do this 15 to 20 times a day because of the mouse going into sleep mode when I walk away from my device. From time to time, also while I am working, it randomly disconnects as well.
I have tested the mouse on my Samsung tablet, with no disconnects. Also have tested it on both a few Microsoft laptops and Apple Mac machines with no disconnects.
I have been told by your support, that they are aware of the issue and working on it. It is almost 1 year later and I still have not been given a resolution. I am on the latest official build.
My question is simple. When will this be fixed? (Can it be fixed?)
It's been the last update we have had in a long time... can anyone confirm? I'm 100% sure it's the last major update unless someone can figure out a way to let us install a different ROM on here.
As far major upgrades (ie. migration from Remix OS 1.0 > Remix OS 1.5 > Remix OS 2.0) we don't foresee one. However, as the below thread is trying to do, we're trying to figure out what bugs are affecting users out there so that we can work on an update that will improve your overall experiences.

Thus far, we're working on:
1. @tomlogan1's issues he shared with us through private message
2. including Android's Nov 1 and Nov 6 security patches that has a fix for the Linux "DirtyCow" issue
3. an audio stuttering issue that is happening for certain audio apps
If you'd like to contribute to the list of issues we're working on, please list them (along with your Remix OS version number) in the thread I shared above. Thanks.

Since you are abandoning us, is there anyway I can load another version of Android over the Remix OS?

Abandonment implies that we won't even put out fixes, which we're working actively on now based on the feedback that has been given us.
However, again, there is no way for Ultratablet to be upgraded to Remix OS based on Android versions higher than 5.1 (Lolipop). The chip in the Ultratablet is only supported up to Lolipop. There is nothing we can do about that since this is a decision that NVIDIA made for the Tegra 4 chipset. This decision is not something we have control over.
If you do load other versions of Android over Remix OS, the biggest issues are how it responds to keyboard & mouse and how it orientates apps.

You mentioned that there will be no further upgrades to the OS due to hardware restrictions. You also mentioned that you would upgrade the V2.0 software and provide bug fixes, etc. The Mini keeps getting V2.0 upgrades and bug fixes. Please can you provide an estimated time frame when the next upgrade for V2.0 will be released for the UltraTablet?
I have read the closed threads here. I found a ROM site but I'm not sure what to make of it because it seems to work only with Android installed by design?
Which, for the 950 series hasn't seemed possible. If Microsoft was abandoning the project, why didn't they go back to having an Astoria enabled ROM as the final version?

I'd like to attempt it. Microsoft has been progressively disabling features in every app that competes with Skype for free video calling.
Oh, and for months now, Skype video calling is upside down on all 950 series.
Why MS even bothered if they are abandoning the OS is just really malicious towards customers.
I keep looking for alternatives because the hardware was really good.
Just the MS OS development was managed by absolutely deaf morons.
Spare me the insults. I'm just looking at possible solutions.
I am a proud (not so much anymore) owner of a Lumia 950 myself and I have been looking everywhere for an answer to your question.
I myself have found the same link you posted and have been wondering whether it is something that would work or not. The device has very impressive specs and I would like to use it for something more than a (relatively) expensive paperweight! However I find all the root/flash/whatever Lumia X50 series sites a bit too odd. The writing of the content is as if the device is already running Android and seem to be old. They "smell fishy" to say the least.
To add to the doubt, I have been following the news on Android for Lumia for a long time now and the development has been very slow to say the least. Nothing actually works on the device with the current state of the ROM. It is quite unfortunate but I don't think it will ever do. Porting Android to Lumias looks like too much work, plus even though the specs are impressive they are already dated with how smartphone tech is "advancing".
I know that this is not an answer per se but I hope it will give you some perspective.
As for many of the decisions that MS has made with the whole Windows mobile scene, don't get me started there!
I know this is an old thread, but I too am interested since MS is killing bits off of WM10 starting with Cortana as an assistant since last week. I have a new 950xl I was thinking of putting WoA on, but not so sure anymore since it's still not polished as an everyday OS yet. I'm still dailying my 3 yo black Friday XL/950/dock package from 2016, but pissed that Cortana is now only a glorified search bar.
I see no reason why someone couldn't get a decent version of 'droid on these. The hardware is more than up to task and would keep a familiar feeling in our hands. I hate to say it, but MS forced us here.
Do you have an older Android device? If yes, do you still use it in any way? ?, Share your story here.
Android OS is dynamic (I'd say unstable ?). The device you are buying today might become older enough in a couple of months in terms of the Android version. However if you're lucky to have a truly rich and supporting community, your device will be alive for an eternity.
In the revolution of Android ecosystem, you would possibly like to upgrade your device after major Android updates. Or you have to be satisfied and hanker after the newer Android features otherwise.
Now it's time to share mine ?. I got a local, cheap Jellybean device, when I was introduced to Android in early 2014. Now I have still that Android 4.2 device which I love more than the prettier material design or even the notification dots and others.
I have been using that device for my development purpose for a long time alongside my primary device. As I used it in my first step to Android root, mods, hacking and the system insight. I still remember the day I got this device into bootloop for the first time ?. Those days have passed away.
Now I am learning and developing Android apps. Since my laptop is even smaller than its small configuration (? You can call me a poor guy), it is quite impossible to test and debug apps on Android emulator while running Android studio in parallel with 4GB of RAM and i5. So, I started using my old friend as a helping hand in development. I keep it connected via USB while developing my apps, run and test them with it which frees nearly 700MB of RAM on my tiny machine and boost the build time also. For other Android versions, I have to do them on emulator separately ?.
What you're thinking of me I don't care ?. The phone is much more to me. Feel free to share yours...
What is your phone name and model?
Have you installed a custom rom on it yet?
What are your apps which you have developed?
Hi!
I am thinking of buying the Samsung s10+ snapdragon variant soon, is it worth it? Can you root the snapdragon variant?
Current users how the SoT? Are you satisfied with your phone? Does your phone heat up in normal use?
Please let me know and help me with my decision!
Thank you!
The Snapdragon's are generally notoriously hard to root. However I would get the Snapdragon variant anyway. Both my N10+'s are stock Snapdragon's and run well.
New S10+'s like the Note 10+'s are still available if you want. Get one running on Android 9 or 10, the new one are likely running on 10.
I would avoid going higher than 10.
I just bought a new N10+ 5 months ago so yeah I think it's worth it. Personally I'm not one bit pleased with the path Samsung or Google Android are going... so I cancelled their dumb arse's.

Is that a bad thing?

I for one don't want scoped storage. It's eats extra cpu cycles and is incompatible with many older apps. It makes sharing a common user database much harder. Apple crapware.
Any Android OS version from 9 up is relatively secure*. As you move from Android 9 to 10 certain trusted apps like Karma Firewall become much less functional.
Scoped storage is fully active in Android 11, I believe but not in 10 apparently from what I see.
Android 12 is a dog and causing many problems in general. Android 10 is reasonably functional but I'm not upgrading my N10+ that's running on 9 to it if that tells you something. Eventually in 2-3 years Google and its 3rd party developers may sort it out. For now though... I'm not using it.
If I wanted scoped storage I'd have an Apple...
*case in point, this N10+ I'm holding hasn't been updated in almost 2.5 years, the current load will be 2 yo in June. Still fast, stable with minimal maintenance. Malware hasn't been an issue.
In fact it's been app updates that have proved to be far more time consuming than any malware.
Last malware was found over 2 years ago and deleted with no lasting damage. Of course that could change today. All my critical data is redundantly backed up to multiple hdds... I'm ready if anything goes south.
Upgrades and updates can and do break things.
Rule#1 if the firmware is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be. I'm a conservative pragmatist... not a liberal hype driven Google moron.
