I'm considering buying a cheap smartwatch for the sole purpose of receiving notifications from some "unpopular" apps that I use on my phone (such as a 3rd party email app). Can all smartwatches receive notifications from all apps? I don't have a particular model in mind yet.

Is it possible to have specific notifications of received SMS's based on who they are from? If so what program will do this?
All my friends cheap phones do this and it burns me...Wish I knew a way also.
a Program called Ringo i believe will allow you to set up sms and call profiles for certain people.
SMS longer than 160 characters which are being sent from my phone as single sms are received at by other party as multiple/split sms. Like 1/, 2/3. I have tried both stock and third party's sms application. Couldn't find any relevant setting. And never experienced this issue on other smart phones I have used., on the same carrier.
I like the edge notifications with the built-in messaging and email apps, but would prefer to use 3rd party messaging apps and gmail. SMS is also a concern because my car and my wearable (garmin) only send/receive texts via the messaging app. Are there any 3rd party messaging / email apps that will work with the edge, my car/wearable, etc.? Or am I stuck with the built-ins if I want those notifications to work?
Thanks,
Pete
My go-to 3rd-party SMS app, Textra, works fine with my car's Bluetooth. It reads messages to me out loud phonetically, and the car recognizes new text messages and displays a notif on the car screen (Ford Sync basic). I assume this is what the default S7E SMS app does as well? Question mark there only because I've never used the default app - Textra is always the first app I install on a new phone or after a clean wipe, along with SwiftKey keyboard.
As far as email goes, I've only ever used the stock email app for work email, although I do use the stand-alone GMail app for personal email. I've never thought about it, but you're right, the Gmail app doesn't give me the option to read emails aloud while I'm in my car - it just plays the default notification sound through the car speakers.
Hope this gives you some help at least.
I have a Fitbit Flex 2 and it's practically useless because it only notifies me for SMS and Calls, which is 1/100th of the notifications on my phone nowadays!
I'm trying to find ways to be able to get Fitbit notifications for all my notifications. I had a few questions for people who may have spent more time developing on this platform than me.
One method that may be possible is grabbing the Bluetooth packet sent from my phone and spoofing that to cue a notification. Can this even be done?
Another method may be sending a fake SMS received notification to my phone. Right now I am using Tasker to send myself an SMS for every item I receive and it's very annoying to have two alerts for everything. Can I send a fake SMS received state to my phone and not have it show up in the notification tray?
Any other suggestions are welcome!
Hello,
When i block a sms, it removes it from my home screen of the android messages app(archives it), but future messages still keep on showing on the
home screen. What does the app do for blocking then? I dont get the point of blocking a sms contact.
Anyone having same issue? Any solution?
Note: I have faced this issue on other devices too, so this is definitely app issue.
Use different app e.g. Microsoft SMS Organizer
I also faced the same problem. The default app doesn't work as expected for me.
SMS organizer has categorization of SMSs e.g. personal, transaction and promotional. Promotional sms are not notified to me unlike the other category, so conveniently I don't have to block.
