ATOTO A6 Dashcam audio solution? - Android Head-Units

Hi all,
I recently installed an ATOTO A6 head unit and accessory Dashcam and am happy with it overall, however I was a bit disappointed when reviewing the video that there is no sound. The stock DVR app is very basic, with very little in the way of controls besides clip duration and auto-record. It works fine, but I'm wondering if there is a way to use the external mic to record audio as well. Sound could be an important piece of evidence in the event of an accident or interactions with someone that might lead to a legal proceeding. I'll be sending a feature request to ATOTO that they include an audio option in their upcoming software updates, I imagine it wouldn't be that hard to add audio and give mic priority to the phone during calls. Are any of you aware of a DVR app for Android that includes audio recording?
(on a side note, I hooked up my existing backup camera to the A6 and while it works the picture is sort of grainy and seems to have some noise that wasn't there on my old Kenwood that I replaced with the A6 after it's radio quit working, the instructions for the A6 include a note about using a diode and resistor (? I think) in case of interference, which I'll probably try, any of you A6 people had a similar issue?) )

USB Audio - doesn't work properly on S7 Edge

My car head unit (a Kenwood DDX4016DAB) supports USB sound input via AOA 2.0.
Much to my frustration, I've discovered that my old LG G3 hooks up to it perfectly, and plays music, phone sounds etc. through it very nicely.
My shiny new S7 Edge however does not. Whilst it does connect to the head unit (and the relevant line in Developer Options shows that the USB mode is "USB Audio"), the sound quality is distorted and muffled. I'm at a complete loss as to why this might be - save that Samsung clearly has some not-too-clever audio software which might be interfering with the AOA output. Does anyone have any smart ideas?
I've had to fall back to bluetooth in the meantime - but the sound quality of bluetooth just isn't that great.
Many thanks in advance.
An update:
The June update package for the s7 edge seems to have partially fixed the problem. The sound now outputs without distortion, although the playback controls on the radio itself (play/pause; back/next) do not work - this includes control by steering wheel. The playback controls did work with LG G3, so this is an s7 issue.

Microphones for Joying

What microphones are you guys using for the Joying Sofia units?
When I make calls the other party always complains about poor audio quality coming from me so I'd like to improve that - if possible

You may want to do a test just recording with the microphone, just to make sure the microphone is the issue. Also try changing the mic sensitivity settings in the car settings, see if that helps. I was using the external mic that came with my unit for a few weeks with no complaints. It seemed to work better on the lower sensitivity level in the car settings.
I finally ended up using the microphone that was built in my car headliner already. I just connected a 3.5mm plug to the 2 wires going to the old head unit. It seems a bit softer than the joying mic, but much less background noise.
I have purchased 3 different Joying head units and they all work for recording voice with both internal or external microphones and using a voice recording app but none of them work during a Bluetooth call. Any ideas? I'm stumped. Tried windows phone, android phone and then iPhone. Maybe a bad batch that are all missing a connection to the Bluetooth module?
Hi Cabela,
Which unit do you currently have, I am experiencing similar problems and the manufacturer advised me to disconnect the external mic.
Have you found a work around...

Low Quality Bluetooth Audio (Treble distorting)

Hey! I'm more of an Android newbie (I have an iPhone). I just installed an Android head unit in my car. So far everything is pretty good except the Bluetooth audio quality. Whenever a cymbal hits in a song, it distorts and sounds really bad. It doesn't distort when playing music any other way. I know it's not my iPhone, because it streams to other devices just fine. This seems to be a common problem in some radios, and even just the android OS. How can I fix it?
My radio is an Android 6.0.1 unit with an Octa Core chip, 2gb of ram, and 32gb of flash, which I bought from Idoing on AliExpress (since it won't let me post a link)
Thanks!
I'm having the same issue. I'm really bummed about it as I love the unit but the bluetooth sound quality just sours it
I've read people just getting Bluetooth dongles and attaching them to AUX, but that's more of a hack then a solution.
We may be SOL if it's a hardware issue. I'll keep searching.
After reading a lot of the MTCD threads I've heard people using this Bt+Wifi dongle

According to reports, the head unit will use it as the system's internal Bluetooth.
I've ordered one and once it arrives will report back on it this fixes our issue.
Dont know if it's relevant, but I'm using the preamp outs on my unit as my car has a builtin bose amplifier,
@bonesteel94 are you using the preamp outs or just the standard amplified signal from the head unit?

how to keep reverse camera? how to install external microphone

hello
I want to buy this head unit for my toyota. ( https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/3303...&terminal_id=c11bb0d4f974459aadcf038196f97bf8 )
I need to know a few things before I buy...
how is the voice quality during calls, and can I install an external microphone.
can I use my stock reverse camera with this radio. (maybe with an adapter )
I want to install a front camera (from bumper, for when I am parking)
do you know is steering wheel control function?
btw some higher end head units have a usb and mic adapter. I think I can install a external mic through there but I don't find the adapter in the internet ( see wiring photos. read number 2. adapter usb + mic) https://www.seicane.com/android-201...screen-4g-wifi-dab-tpms-dab-dvr-obdii-s169208)
Not sure about the Seicane, but most Android HU has mediocre built-in mic for handsfree. It does not filter out noise so the factory keeps the gain low resulting in soft human voice and louder car noise. It’s a tricky acoustic problems. Adding external mic is easy as plugging in a 3.5mm jack, if your model comes with a mic jack.
Factory backup camera, steering wheel, etc works fine in my toyota. But make sure you communicate with your seller. They should ask your car model and will provide you the right wires. But double check and make sure.
I install a USB dashcam, and it works with the built-in dashcam app. Parking assist camera seems to require specific wiring it can be a hit or miss. I tried installing my dashcam, and configuring it as a front camera, but it doesn’t work even after I work the settings to activate camera reverse.

Atoto s8 2nd gen, FYI. you can stream the sounds and music via bluetooth to another device.

So the main problem with the chinese brands is the lack of output quality especially the subwoofer output, i always wonder if you could do this and couldnt find any info about it, well today im happy to report, you can, in my case my car allow me to have two headunits, and i get to keep my volume knob, but i guess is possible to also connect the unit to a amplifier with bluetooth.
