Lollipop is in the final stage of testing for all the tab pro series 12.2, 10.1, and 8.4
http://www.youmobile.org/blogs/entr...-2-Lollipop-Update-is-coming-by-Early-Q3-2015
I really hope this is true. I am interested to see if they "toned down" TW like they did on the S6 .
great news, thanks for this..
I hope there's an option to not update for a while to see there are any "issues" after updating....I have a Nexus 5 and I'm still on kitkat due to all the battery life issues people had when updating it to lollipop....and it's a flagship google device!!!
Hope it doesn't come with CleanMaster as a pre-installed app
As the title says, hope that lollipop doesn't arrive with the installation of CleanMaster Malware. The malware CleanMaster got installed on my ASUS memopad 176c & cannot be truly "uninstalled"; it keeps resurrecting & keep getting notification that an update is available even if I "uninstalled" it; when the notification arrives, CleanMaster shows as "installed" again.
CleanMaster is in "/system/app/CleanMaster" & cannot be deleted by an unrooted device. So, how does one change setting?
Read statements that say Samsung is/will be installing CleanMaster even if it is a malware & trojan.

Every device has had some issues with every update. Period, this is nothing new, this is never going to change. Most of the issues are fairly rare, but of course those are the loud ones. ALL, every single one of the Lollipop upgrades for my variety of devices have been either ok, no big deal, or wonderful enhancements to an already good device.

I'm as anxious as anyone about getting lollipop but I would just like the option of waiting a bit after the update until others have tested it out. The tab pro8.4 is my first Samsung device and wasn't sure if samsung automatically update you or if you have the option to wait and update at your leisure so to speak. Have you done a Samsung update and know if you have the option of updating when you're ready or no? TIA!
It will alert you that there is an update, it will not automatically update
I'm never gonna update to lollipop. It runs smooth, i get 10 days battery with 7+ hours screen time and lollipop itself is bugged as **** anyway. Why fix something that isn't broken?
Btw, my knox and everything is frozen anyway, so I doubt I will be able to update in the first place.

The status of 5.1.1 is now listed as "pending" which meant that the rollout won't be too long......maybe.

Interesting to see TabPro leap past Tab S to 5.1.1
It's already the faster of the two, now it's ending up with the newer OS despite being older.
Let's see if it ACTUALLY GETS 5.1.1 before cm13 comes up.

Verizon website listed this...see below
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update for your device. This software update has been tested to optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches.
Software Version: MMB29M.N910VVRU2CPF3
The current software update gives you the most up to date Android™ security patch on your device.
Receiving this update now, its automatic and I can't seem to stop it easily.
I'll report what I find. I unrooted and went default yesterday, on retail 6.0.1. Gonna sell my note and get Google Fi soon.

Can you try to downgrade after you update and see if it'll downgrade? Thanks. Its ok if you're not interested in all that hassle.

Nothing visible has changed, no new apps. No new settings. June 1st security patch which may be different. I'll maybe try to downgrade tomorrow.

I haven't found a tutorial on downgrading to 5.1.1 from 6.0.1. Is there a safe way to do it?

Not sure what you mean by "safe" but typically you just use Odin to flash full stock 5.1.1, do a factory reset in stock recovery afterwards and you're done.

I'm guessing its just a June security patch.
I'm impressed Verizon is actually trying to keep up with the security updates on this device. BUT, i dont think they have a choice because this device is probably more used then the Note5 .

Seems to have fixed some lag, heat , and battery drain issues I was having. Auto brightness is still borked. Still have to turn the brightness down manually in a dark room, and up to max outside.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews of Google Fi. Which phone are you going to go with? I've thought about replacing my Note 4 DE with the Moto X Pure when they run it on sale again (was $319 a few days ago). But the Droid Z Force also looks nice.

Not really the place to discuss it so I'll keep it brief.
My girlfriend has a Nexus 5X. The phone is amazing, updates are quick and common. It operates perfectly on marshmallow with no noticeable issues. We live in bum**** and she still gets service wifi calling and texting is fine, and no contracts. We pay about 42 a month for hers with insurance.
Well one thing I noticed (not sure if it was this update or the last one) is that when you pick an application to use (like browser) it becomes the default. With the old OS it would ask you to use just once or make it the default. Arrgggg I prefer to pick the application as needed and not make it the actual default.

The MM update made this change to default app handling. I liked the old way too. Now if I want to change the default app I have to remember which app was set as default before I can make the change. Sometimes remembering which app was set as default isn't easy to do.
Deleted. Think was in wrong thread.
Been a long time sense I've posted anything in this forum.
I just went back to the Note 4 and did the MM update and have noticed a heavy draw on the battery compared to LP. Am wondering if letting it did cycle through a few time might correct the battery drain. Was on an iPhone for awhile, but for personal reasons came back android. Has anybody tried that yet. Have been temped to hard reset and start fresh to see if it fixes it.
This update has increased the battery draw on mine and it is running HOT! Need help.
Is anyone having trouble getting this OTA? I had 1-4 available right away, but I've been checking for an update since yesterday and nothing.

Don't side load from what I read it hasn't come for the 6p yet because of some issues that are being worked out. I haven't checked to see if they pulled the images but I would just wait for the OTA. I also read that dp5 is really laggy on the Nexus 6

I don't remember what site it was it was 4am and I was just having coffee and It came up in my Google now news feed. The post wasn't about that I read it in the comment section after the post. Also I see some people on here who did sidload it and are having problems with recovery and some apps. So personally I am going to wait till Google fixes it.
maybe they are actually trying to fix the slow-motion bug that has existed since release on 6.0. after a day or two, slow motion records very choppy. the small group of people who actually notice the bug think it will never get fixed. oh well....

I sideloaded DP5 to my 6P on Monday, and I can confirm that it's borderline disastrous. It's way slower and jankier than the last couple of preview milestones, and there's general bugginess that I didn't see in the last two builds. Additionally, I've had way more crashes than I experienced on DP3 and DP4, both of which were mostly stable. I hope the OTA delay means they are working out a few kinks, because I would hate for this to be what Google considers "near final" software.
Thanks for the heads up.

I'm sure that is what the delay is. I was thinking it was a OTA issue but then I saw your post a a few others. This is the first android phone I have ever owned that I didn't root right out of the box. I'm too tired to do all the flashing and deal with the bugs and all that. I didn't even opt in to the dev preview till dp3. With that said all my previous experience has taught me to research before I update or install new software and wait till it is mostly bug free. This phone just works. I won't have to root it till Google stops supporting it and I have to go with cyanogenmod

Could you do us a favor and let us know if/when the OTA pops up on your device? It would be nice to compare build numbers to see if Google is preparing an updated build for release.

Hey guys, I got mine around noon in Philadelphia, PA. Prior to that, I was experiencing the same issues you guys were in that my OTA was not showing up. Happy updating!
Me too I got mine at 12:30 pm in new York. It now says android 7.0 instead of Android n npd90g is the build number. I just finished with work so I have to test it out but so far it seems to be really good and snappy. And yes they fixed the toggle switches back to what they should be.
I just checked and OTA was ready to download. Installing dp5 now.
Downloaded and running....

So, here in KC, I was curious to see if an update was available for my Sprint S7 Edge to 7.0 and its installing now. No notification or announcement (or I am oblivious to the obvious) from Sprint and my phone is set only to check manually, once I selected to check it came up with a 1628MB download. Mods, please delete if this is in the wrong spot or redundant, but a quick search did not show anything but the beta. I tried to join the beta but was too slow so unless this is a fluke, or I suddenly got included in the beta this looks to be available. I'll delete or update once it is done. Just thought I'd let those of you who can't root their note and didn't know that Samsung blocked all the ability to theme/change fonts on your phone from anywhere but their official theme store. So, if you have substratum and have purchased andromeda, themegalaxy, swift installer.....etc, you are SOL. In order for any of those to work, you'd have to have root. This is going to be my last Sammy phone ever. First they lock down their bootloaders (I know carriers are involved and want you to upgrade every year), then now are locking any third party themes. And to top it off, they are horrible at pushing updates/new software to their customers. If you buy a locked down phone, you'd get a couple of updates (I mean android versions not security updates) then you're stuck with an older version of android until you buy a new phone.
Just thought I'd throw this out there so you decide whether or not to update to pie. IF there is a way to block automatic updates.

Isn't theme issues (whatever level of issues) on Pie have to do with Google killing it and not the phone OEM? Google killed call recording on Pie. They seems to be wanting to kill more and more features we've been depending on that have nothing to do with Samsung.

I think is has to do with Google slowly working towards making a dark theme systemwide, should be available on next version of Android. You can also expect even more difficulties using overlays on next Android.
Google is trying to tighten things up on Android. Do I like? No! But we can't say they are wrong to do it either.
I mean, look at how many Android devices are activated daily. Security lately is a much bigger concern for all companies and users. Blocking modifications and overlays is a way of making your phone more secure.
Thanks for sharing but I don't use third party themes anymore since most of them seems to drain the battery way too much
Why not just downgrade to Oreo 8.1 ? PIE-9 ONE UI Sucks at the moment.. Maybe 6 months or a years’ time it might get there and then ill upgrade!! Until then I’m sticking to 8.1 as it rocks!

I have got a n9 thats unrooted for my daily.. just picked up a lgv30 for my audio and rooting fixes.
I might as well just settle in for the long haul until international phones are rootable and working on Verizon.

So, I just spoke to the devs of swift installer and they confirmed that it will work on one UI. So, I hope that means substratum will work, too, maybe?

Phones are everywhere now and the competition is very hot in the market. Samsung and the carriers can shove their non rootable phones up there @#$#. Imagine having a non rootable Samsung phone and you wanted to keep it for a while, you're literally stuck on one firmware for as long as you have that phone knowing how horrible Samsung updates are.

I'm running it on pie. It works for apps no problem. But system UI, settings, and some galaxy apps are not working right now.

I think it's because of the dark mode on Pie. I hope they'll have a work around so we can theme the system with other colors beside black or white.
