I am looking for an new tablet. As I like the 8 inch formfactor, I would like to buy the 2019 Galaxy Tab A 8.0 T290:

Is there any TWRP and / or LineageOS / CrDroid / Resurrection Remix under developement for this tablet? I dont like the stock ROMs. Thx
I'm interested in this as well. Am considering this tablet as a replacement for my venerable Nexus 7 and I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on a tablet that doesn't have an active developer community. Heck, my Nexus 7 is running Android Pie!

I´m running a LG Tab 8.3 atm, but it´s that slow with Pie, I need a new one....but it´s hard to find a 8 inch tablet, as I know there´s only Samsung and Huawei that do 8 inch tablets with actual hardware

Hi Guys,
Need a quick advice.
I am planning to buy a tablet and was pretty sure I will buy 32 GB Nexus 7 for $249 till I saw this post today
http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-asus-transformer-champagne?ab=o&c=all&p=1
$269 for an ASUS 16GB Transformer tablet (TF300T-A1-CG) Vs $249 for Google 32 GB Nexus 7.
Nexus Pros:
Better Display
Latest OS
32 GB storage on board
Google brand
Nexus Cons:
No extended storage option
7 inch display
Transformer Pros:
10 inch display
Extendable Storage
Keyboard Option
Price
Transformer Cons:
Not the latest and greatest
Inferior Display
Might not get future OS upgrades
I am pretty which one to buy.
Any help\advice would be great.

Probably depends on what kind of use you intend for it. I take my 7 almost everywhere and the size is great. Don't really use my phone as much anymore after getting it. But if it's something that's going to stay mainly at home then portability is less of an issue, and maybe the transformer would suit you.
Separately, I can't see going back to a non-Nexus device. The support for updates and custom roms is something I can't give up. So, guess my vote is Nexus....
I already have Galaxy S3 so going from 4.8 to 10 seems better than 4.8 to 7.
Plus any idea, what is the expandable memory for Transformer ?
And is it true that ASUS is sure to get any\all google OS updates like Nexus devices ?

Is this still a good tablet to pick up? I'm wanting a tablet or a smartwatch, and I like the Nexus 9, but the 7 inch screen and great price are still pretty good. Even if it is discontinued, I still like it, and I would buy it new off eBay or Amazon. I know it has Lollipop too which is a plus and it's a developer Nexus device, so long after Lollipop it will have custom ROMs. Also I've also wanted a Nexus 7, but chose to buy a Nexus 5 over it. I love my Nexus 5, and plan on keeping it at least another year. The battery only concerns me about my phone, 3 hours SOT usually but I think the N7 has better battery? I'll be mostly gaming, reading, and videos on my tablet. A media device.
Do you still think it's worth picking one up?

I would Look at the N-Vidia Tablet. Much better for gaming and not Super Expensive.. or The nexus 7 2013 version. But with that said I still use my nexus 7 . I keep it on my purse for using for email GPS and Google plus while out and about. I wish it had a rear camera thou. I use it at home for xbmc remote. Ohh and i use it at home and away to view my home security cameras while traveling. For my Real work I use my Note 10.1 (2012 version).
Nobody can decide other then you. I Can tell you its either a bit slow on android 5. or there is bugs still in the os..
It's still a great device and I don't see any reason to buy a new tablet. But if I had to, I would probably pick something with more RAM since the N7 feels a bit laggy when I open large PDFs or many apps at once. And more memory would be nice, too. (I have the 16gb version)
EDIT: It's much faster with F2FS now.
If you're interested, I would be willing to sell my Nexus 7 (2012) 32 GB WiFi for $80 + shipping (US only). I bought it brand new in Dec. 2012, and have only used it at home, so it's in very good condition. I even have the original box it came in (plus the cable and charger).
I'm currently running KitKat 4.4.4, but I can upgrade it to Android 5 Lollipop before sending it out if you like.

Its time to retire my trusted N10, and I'm wondering which tablet to buy. I want 10" screen and the tablet should be easy to root and twrp and custom roms must be available.
So which tablet should I buy?
Tab s or tab s2
Pixel C
I'm almost sure my next Android tablet will be a Chromebook, but waiting for more choices to come out that support Android apps. If my N10 broke today, I would probably buy another N10...

iPad
I would really like google to make a pixel C with 4g and a stylus that rivals surface pro/ ipad pro. If not then I'll get an ipad pro...which is a shame because as much as i want an android tablet, there isn't something there that satisfies all my needs really. The tab s gets close but I don't want to root it to install vanilla android because half my apps don't work.
I recently just upgraded to the Pixel C and I'm really impressed with it. 4/5 years worth of difference in tech makes a hell of a difference and I'm glad and i know i got my monies worth out of the nexus 10, i will still keep it for experimenting and using as a spare for holiday etc.
I need to buy a tablet, but i want one that can run lineage. Any size is ok, but the bigger the better.
Thanks.
Amazon Fire (mustang) 7, but it's lineage 14.1. Be sure to read before committing.

Look to buy Lenovo tablets usually cheap. Lenovo tab 4 8" or Lenovo tab 4 10 plus runs lineage 15.1, 16.0, 17.0
I purchased this nice little tablet to replace my much loved Nexus 7 2013 2nd Gen as it's about the same size with better specifications.
I've unlocked and rooted the tablet and now looking for a decent custom rom... I guess I should have looked for the rom before unlocking but the cart before the horse seems to be my way.
Anyway, are there any custom roms for the M8 FHD?
I was thinking about dabbling with building a custom rom but I don't have any Linux coding experience.
I'd love to get Lineage or asop for this nice little tablet.
Unfortunately there's not much community support for this tablet even though the build is one of the best for us not wanting a 10" tablet. I've searched around here, other ROM sites, and have posted things in Lenovo's forums. From my experience, the Lenovo Android 10 ROM is garbage. It breaks widgets and notifications.
After unlocking mine I was able to go back to their Android 9 image which is still pretty good. It has some issues, but overall it functions well. I don't use the tablet often though.
One frustrating thing is that since Lenovo seems to not care, even though its an FHD tablet, they won't get the Widevine certification needed to play HD videos from the major players like Netflix.
I wish there was more support and love for this 8" tablet. I purchased a Samsung Tab A 8" at the same time and it was really sluggish compared to the Lenovo and didn't have much support for it either.
Too bad this was to be my Nexus 7, 2013 replacement... No roms makes for a boring tablet
I have to agree with you guys. I've had this little tab since June and it has been great. It has been well worth the $100.
I also agree that Lenovo needs to support Android better for its tabs. They have some great hardware that sometimes gets crippled by software. That's definitely the case with my old P10. It's really a great tablet that I would still use but it loses Wi-Fi every 5 minutes and the problem is 100% software.
