Posting this in hopes someone has advice—been searching but still nothing that addresses this issue.Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e (SM-T720)
Rooted with Magisk 19.3 > Manager 7.3.2
Riru - EdXposed v0.4.5.1_beta (4463) (YAHFA)
PROBLEM The battery is NOT charging (sometimes) even though other monitoring methods show it charging. The system is showing decreasing charge % even though 3C and other apps are showing it charging. The system makes the 'charging sound' when plugging and unplugging.
FYI, I did let the battery 'fully' discharge once—accidently—but that was days ago, and have fully charged it several times since.
HERE'S SOME DETAIL Battery
- charges when powered off
- charges when rebooted, until screen unlocked
- charges SOMETIMES even after screen unlocked
- multiple apps and system status bar recognize whether or not it's plugged in and indicate charging--at the same time, Ampere app & Settings > Battery recognize being plugged in, but DISchargingFrom these findings it seems to me that it's a 'battery control file' issue. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know the correct terminology, or even if I'm right, but I'm pretty sure (hopeful?) this can be fixed with a few changes to a few files.
Might have to start uninstalling, in order, Xposed Modules > Xposed > Magisk, reflashing ROM but don't want if I don't have to.
Any pointers much appreciated.
Magisk Manager 7.3.2 was causing problems. Older *and* newest (7.3.3-a6126c5e) work fine.
Thanks everyone

Hi,
Installed cherry pie, and I was getting a warm phone and abysmal battery life. So investigated and the exact steps I followed :
1. Install latest cherry pie as of Oct 4.
2. Immediately after (without starting the phone in between), installed stock kernel and larger APN list
3. Booted.
4. Signed in to Google account and installed terminal emulator. No paid apps so no auto installs from Android. Rebooted after this. Checked /sys/power/wake_lock. Empty most of the time.
5. Then set battery mode to maximum battery saver (instead of night-time). Rebooted. Now whenever I check /sys/power/wake_lock, I get PowerManagerService.
The inbuilt app "better battery manager" shows that PowerProfileSvc (com.motorola.batterymanager.Battery Manager) is holding on to wake lock full time. I saw this for 4 continuous hours, which drained the battery from 90% to 28%. I checked 15 times in those 4 hours, wake_lock always contained PowerManagerService.
No other apps installed, no other setting done. Any advice? I am new to Android but not to linux.
Am I pointing fingers to BatteryManager incorrectly? Any solution?
thanks very much
PS - sorry, I tried to post exact link of files I downloaded but new user so links not allowed.
Just to be clear, I know the basics about rooting and installing custom ROMs, but I do not know the fine details.
My 10.1 (purchased at launch) first started to experience a bad constant battery drain while in sleep mode when using stock ICS about 3 months ago. Shortly later, MTB wouldn't start up when connected to my PC, even after factory restoration. I rooted it and installed JB 4.1.1 with the 3.1 kernel, but the battery drain continued and I still could not get MTB to start up to transfer files via USB. I tried doing the various battery calibration and reset tricks (fully charge, shutdown for 1 hr, use tab until battery at 40-50%, shutdown for 5 hrs), but the drain continued while on standby. I decided to just deal with it and got into the habit of turning it off when not in use and using Kies Air to transfer files.
Now, the tab thinks it is constantly charging even when it is not plugged into the wall. While on, it will say "charging" on the lock screen and show the charging symbol on the battery. When turned off, it will show the battery icon constantly moving the green charge bar. For this reason, the battery continues to drain even when off.
Any solutions here? I tried factory restoring and using different ROMs (ICS and JB) but I think they used the same kernels? Do you think there is something physically wrong with the battery or the chip that controls the detection of charging and charge levels? Or perhaps the Tab thinks there is a constant USB connection? If it is something physical, any hope of repairs that will not cost close to the value of a new tab?
Any information would be appreciated
Thanks!
My S4 will randomly shutdown (even though I am not sure that it is really turned off or just locked in a black screen).
Mostly this will happen, when it is on the charger, but also had it happen (rarely) before in the pocket.
After disabling some Apps the shutdown would happen less often and lately really only had it happen when it was charging.
Sometimes I can get it to reboot, by pushing the power and or home button really long, then it will reboot to the charging screen or to the boot screen. After that it will just stay on the battery charging screen or on the Samsung Galaxy S4 boot loader screen.
To get it working again, I will have to take out the battery and then put it back in, after which it will reboot normally.
Currently this will happen about once a week.
I changed the charger and bought a new battery, but this behavior didn't change.
I am not sure if this is a hardware problem, or due to the fact that I disabled too many apps (with Titanium Backup) and restricted some more by using Xprivacy.
But I never had problems before and can't remember having changed any settings lately.
To get more info I let CatLog run in the background and the following messages are the last ones before the log stops:
BatteryService update start

What is the best way to go from here, without enabling too much stuff again, to troubleshoot the problem.
I assume you run a stock rom and are rooted. Did you remove the Knox apps? You should make sure that all the Knox apps are deleted.
Maybe this Xposed module can also fix your problems.

Sorry, yes I forgot to mention, its stock 4.2.2 and it's rooted.
I removed most Knox Apps with Titan Backup and currently only KNOX 1.0 is still there, but actually frozen.
Are there more steps to remove Knox?
The xposed module is for 4.4 so I am not sure if this will help.
Howdy, everyone!
I have a problem with my G935F: the battery percentage stays stuck while the device is on, it gets updated on reboot but then won't change. If I connect the phone to the charger the icon in the status bar reflects that but the charge level still won't update until the next reboot.
Battery life is great and charging while the phone is off shows the correct percentage throughout, which makes me believe this is not a problem with the battery.
The phone is rooted and I'm on stock 6.0.1. I've already tried multiple full wipes and flashing several versions of the stock rom (including Nougat) but the problem persists. I've also tried clearing the cache and the dalvik cache to no avail.
Do you have any ideas about what the problem might be or what steps I may take to try and fix it? I'd like to rule out all possibilities before dishing out €50 to have the battery replaced!
Maybe you have an app that's interfering with the reported battery level. Does the battery indicator update properly when you boot the phone into safe mode?
Unfortunately, no.
No ideas?
Unfortunately the battery level is still incorrect even when the phone is booted in Safe Mode. However it is correct when the phone is charged while turned off and the battery life is normal, which makes me believe it's not a hardware problem...
Hey guys sorry to bump old thread , but found this thread and its good to not always make new threads Well, i also suffer some heating issues but recently my battery percentage stuck at 82% while i was charging with hotspot active , i dont know why it got stuck , but when i replugged the jack in usb port , it continues but after sometime stucks again at 84% , i cleared cache partition but its still the same. But if i turn off the phone and charge, it will proceed to 100% , so the only changes that i made in system are enabling developer options and installing nova launcher and xwidgets app , phone is not rooted and completely stock. Any hints guys ?
Get working root on your phone first, you will need to be on marshmallow. The guide is on this vibe x3 forums.
I believe the root of our problem lies with the new peel remote which has severe battery drain which is also a system app which means not removable unless rooted. Just use an alternative to the ir remote.
1. Download System app remover (root)
2. Uninstall peel remote there are 2 entries on the list.
3. Download Xposed installer then install
xposed through the app selecting install through recovery.
4. Download amplify battery extended
5. Install through exposed and restart.
6. Go to the wakelock tab and on all the safe to limits you will need to manually click each of them and toggle the off disable in the settings menu.
The reason for disabling the wakelock is because after android nougat wakelock have been optimized in marshmallow the wakelocks were never optimized.
Managed to bring down mAh usage by 200 for both screen on and screen off.
Further battery tips if your phone battery seems to drain super fast or your USB device is not recognized, you need to swap your cord out.
Disable vibration on your android keyboard and nav keys through settings it chews battery.
If you are charging using an unofficial charger and your phone gets laggy while charging, then it is not charging properly.
Best to use a good USB cord any will work as long as ur computer can recognize your phone with it and the official lenovo charger.
