I haven't used VR since my Note 8. I thought there were some neat VR apps, but the fogging of the headset, and some other issues plus I guess it was just mostly gimmicky led to me never really using it. Also the fact that you had to buy a new headset for each phone.... to the wind out of the sails for me.
LOL note 20+... LOL
I'm more curious what you think could be broken? Oculus Go and Quest are standalone headsets, all you need a phone for is the setup app. If that doesn't work borrow one for 10 minutes and I Highly recommend the Quest over the Go.
So I just tried the gear vr and It won't really plug in. The position of the usb c is different from the last 2 Notes and you have to force it to get it mostly flush. Once you get it flush it won't close due to flat top and bottom and square shape of the 10. The oculus app doesn't even load once it is plugged in. You might be able to side load it? Not sure... Even if you could you would need to shave off some of the plastic to make it fit properly.
Maybe I'll try this as a side project...later down the road.
Better than nothing. Is a start. Im curios if will work with oculus go or other vr haedset. Yes i try it too but oculus app dont start when plug in.

Yo know oculus go is a standalone headset? you only need phone for setup? If you mean you're trying to use the app with the Gear Headset, it won't work.

Im just getting to the android modifying world. I that skimmy intro. i got g1 with nexus one 2.1 on my system. I am looking for a type of either unsigned or market app. that i could use to increase my audio sound. It of course the G1 is connect to the power of the car. I have a kenwood head unit with a brain. if you know any with this brain setup you can connect just about anything to it. and it either displays or plays thru the rca's. right now sound is super low 1/2 of regular. I like the fact that i can listen to internet radio with out a real pc setup in my car and all those headaches that go along with it. guess i could just connect to an amp with phone jack to rca first then to the brain. i guess i solved my own problem. but that doesnt go well with the 4 sub amps i already have installed. I would think i would need just a small 4 channel radio. But i would think that being a head phone jack and the system is only left right. can anyone confirm this? sorry for the long reading. ill be around n answer asap if replied doesnt seem many threads here get replied.
im gong to try a small 25X2 simple and quick when i can. and let u know. im sure others are dying to hear how it works out because this is a new great idea.
please i dont want to hear get a FM transmitters they break they static the screen goes out. hogs a power plug more wires.not a clean install list goes on.

Hi @ll,
I have the following problem with my DHD (Cyanogenmod 7.2). Since a few weeks ago the "Car Mode" App is starting many a time and ususally even restarts again after closing it. After having searched in several discussion boards I found out that the signal for the Car Mode getting started is emitted by some kind of magnetic sensor or the like, suited to the car charching cradle. Though because I have none, I assume that there's a loose contact or something at that magnetic sensor, but to fix it, I initially have to know where it is. Can someone help me please?
Thanks in advance.
Try to clean your usb port. A friend had the same problem and that helped.

Fix permission in recovery..maybe it should help...

Thank you, I tried both methods. Now I'm waiting for it to happen again or not.
What did the "Fix permissions" function actually do?
So it helped?

Yea, seems as if one of your both suggestions has helped
Hello there.
I did the "fix permissions" but it didn't help.
How did you guys clean the USB port?
Regards,
F.
Just clean it with compressed air from a compressor and use contact spray if needed.
Reflash
i had the same problem with jellytime.... i just reflashed the rom again and it went away .... hope it helps...
sometimes car home starts to pop up when it came in contact with any magnetic thingy..
If Car Home is going off without being near anything magnetic then you may have a bug. It's a very easy fix. Root your phone and download a app called Bloat Freezer. That just freeze car home and every other piece of bloatware you will never use.
---------- Post added at 01:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 AM ----------
Also u can use app like :
"Dock No-op" or
One more app is there named "Do Nothing "whenever it pop up it just block that happening. Just seach this on play store. I hope might help.

I did all the thing read here and on other forums ( freez carhomeGoogle.apk , delete from system/app , full wipe format , reinstal rom , even downgrade to gb , and now i'm back to ics , cleaning the charging slot ) car home does'nt open but the icon on notification still appears and dissapears randomly and my screen goes on and off all the time )
sorry for my bad english
I had this issue and the only way to fix was to replace the micro-usb port as it kept coming back.
replacing the micro-usb port usally helps.
Against all rumors,
the CAR home is started if the right resistor values are applied between certain USB contacts. No magnetics or magic needed.
To get rid of the problem no magic is needed either:
Take a wooden toothpick and crush one tip until you have kind of flat brush of about 4mm length, but as flat as possible.
Then take this 'wooden brush' and scratch all dirt out of the usb port. Be carefull not to apply presure to the small contact bridge in the middle.
Other than the name suggests, please do not use your teeth to form this brush. Humidity and electronics are not so compatible...
Best way:
It is easy if you just brush out the dirt by going in, brush, out allways the same way, collecting the dust in one edge.
Try to collect the dust in one edge of the connector on the lower wide area corner.
Then push it out with the intact side of the toothpick.
Never try to use the intact tip in the small area above the connector bridge. It will break it.
After that, Car Panel should stay closed and your USB cable shouldn't fall off anymore.

Hey guys,
So I've been loving the crap out of my nexus 4... that is, until a random stranger on a crowded subway knocked it out of my hands as I was taking it out of my pocket. So the front of the screen is messed up pretty bad glass-wise; the lcd works fine but the digitizer is messed up so I can't use the touchscreen at all.
I'm going to have to shell out on a new screen soon, but I'd like a workaround in the meantime. I figured if I could get a bluetooth mouse connected I could at least navigate around my phone, but of course I need to use the touchscreen to pair with the mouse. Or maybe not, that's why I'm posting.
Can it be done? Through adb or some other means, could I pair a bluetooth mouse without using the phone directly? The only method I could think of might be to pull the bluetooth address config file and insert the MAC address of the mouse into it to potentially trick the phone into thinking it had already paired with it. Does that make sense? Even if it does, I'm most likely going to need some guidance in figuring out how to actually pull it off.
Let me know if it can be done somehow, and thanks! :fingers-crossed:
should have knock the guy out and drop his phone...sound like a fair deal...eye for an eye

Ha ha maybe I would've, but the station was so busy that I couldn't tell who bumped into me... It was on an inclined walkway so the phone actually slid away from me by a few feet, by the time I got it whoever did it was long gone

Use the play store webside to load a remote desktop app on it so you can take over it's screen (assuming those apps exist and it's not stuck at the PIN entry screen)
I haven't found any screen sharing/control apps that don't require me to use the phone to generate a code/url, but I'll keep looking
well I figured it out... for future reference you can use the input keyevent lines to navigate around the phone. It's a bit tedious but it's only until I connect it to a bluetooth mouse
Has anyone used the Samsung Galaxy Smart Dock Multimedia Hub with their Note 3? The dock arrived yesterday along with a BT keyboard and mouse; my VZW Note 3 arrives today (longest wait of my life).
I recently got rid of my desktop computer in lieu of using my Note 3. I know the Note 2 users out there have really liked this dock.
Got it for $70 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009QW3TBK/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Note 2 Smart Dock works with the Note 3
Yes, the Samsung Note 2 smart dock does work with my Note 3. Works perfectly except you still need an app to display the home screen in landscape. Someone put up a youtube video showing that the smart dock working with the Note 3 here:

Note 2 Dock with S3 Loving it.
I am using it with my S3 I9305, and loving it. Currently hooked to a large screen with speakers via HDMI and set of Logitech wireless keyboard mouse on a single receiver.
Got rid of a desktop as it supports, websurfing, web streaming videos, upnp support, office applications (Perfect for just typing so I can edit format issues later for final draft).
The only drawback is when using excel it has its limits.
Also worth noting, funny enough s3 works better than Note2 as it automatically sets the main screen on Landscape.
I also have a note 2 still wonderful set up but does not support landscape with default settings when displaying main and home screen....thought that was weird but works cool for me as I use it with S3.
Cheers,
JK

Just wanting to know if anyone notices the device heats up really hot?.
Hasn't caused any issues but it is mighty warm when I pick it up after a good use out of it docked.
Just wanting to know if anyone notices the device becoming very very warm when they pick it up after they have used it on the dock?
2 Questions
1.) Is the screen going off automatically as soon as the device is connected to an external screen?
2.) Has anybody tried to play with the Screen Density here? I can imagine that it gives a huge step foward in usability if the density is set lower.

Hi, yes, I do notice that it is heating up quite a bit but not so much that it really bothers me...I still think the smart dock is a good accessory for the Note 3. I still need to get a good app launcher though.
Hi everybody,
I just received my samsung smart dock today and was hoping to get it work with my note 3.
I tried to plug 2 western digital hard drives (500Gb for the first and 2Tb for the second), a wired XBOX360 gamepad and 2 mice (a Logitech B110 and a Razer Copperhead) but none of them were recognised by my note 3 (I tried to plug them with or without the secor, separately or together, and rebooted my the device multiple times).
The dock itself is recognised by the device when I pluged it to the sector (the phone switch to the kind of dock view with the calendar) but the only thing I get from my gamepad and mouse was a blinking light.
Am I missing something?
According to the manual, it is normal that I can't access the two hard drives (apparently it can only accept FAT32 drives up to 32Gb) but I should at least be able to get a mouse or a gamepad running.
My phone is not rooted but up to date with last samsung room available (Kernel 3.4.0-2019540 Ver JSS15J.N9005XXUDMJ7).
Thanks for your help,

Hi Jeff and all,
Me also,
I received this Galaxy Note 2 MultiMedia Dock (that's what it says on the box) today.
Plugged in the power (micro USB: the small, not the large from the Note 3) and then inserted the Note 3 in the Dock. First thing strange: the Note 3 is not centered on the dock. Not very nice!
On the Note 3 screen there comes this special docking homescreen in portrait mode. When plugging in the HDMI cable (not in the package) and connecting to my full HD TV, my TV says 1080p input connected: good! The dock can handle full HD. However the image is the same as on the Note 3 : portrait mode. It is scaled down and only occupying half the TV screen.
I've installed a "force landscape" app. Result: The Note touchwizz interface is not made to be displayed in landscape: it's a mess (icons cut off etc): Bad
Then I played a 1080p video on the Note 3 to see what the quality on the TV is: a lot of tearing and pixelisation: Unusable for displaying video! (The same video plays very well on the Note3 when not connected to the dock).
Nex thing: I've connected a mouse: it is NOT detected (it is correctly connected when I use my USB OTG cable on the same Note3!): Very bad! I've tried another mous: same: nothing happens...
So.... as I bought from Amazon, I'll just return it (Amazon has a great return service).
If you have any questions or ideas please tell me
After spending last night looking over the internet trying to find out how I would get VR apps working on my Gear VR I accidentally disconnected the USB C clip a minute ago. I then realized that its a 2 click clip. It clicks once to connect to the headset then again to actually plug into the USB part of the headset. So i only let it click once started the Cider Point Roller Coaster app form the Play Store and i will be got dam it worked
I shook the headset pretty hard to see if the phone would fall off it didn't but i still wouldn't doing any flips with it using just one click. I hope this is useful info.
Apps i tested:
Cider Point Coaster
Safari Roller Coaster
I also looked at some of the demos in the Cardboard app so i am assume other Cardboard apps work but like i said i just found this out.....
As I don't foresee using any phone other than my S8+ in my Gear VR headset, I modded the extra USB B adapter to support using my phone with VR apps that I can't run through the Oculus framework. The mod was one of simply removing the USB circuit card from the adapter after removing the 4 screws holding the adapter together, then reassembling it. Swapping out the adapters is very easy to do on an as-needed basis. The drawback is the lack of battery charging support since that is performed through the USB connection.
