It feels ok. Battery placement is good so it is not top heavy when held in hand. However, it could stand to be a touch wider. Seems to be "non-symetrical" as it is to long for the width. Also I am a big fan of fingerprint scanners. Coming from a g2 play I am used to the scanner on the front of the phone. I use a phone case that doubles as a wallet. So when it is folded open the scanner access is blocked. Seeing as so many apps are including the scanner for unlocking, the on the back spot is kind of a pain. However I am pleased with the functioning of it. The case I use is pretty thick and I was expecting that to be an issue getting the finger in for a reliable scan, so I waited until i had the case on before activating the scanner. It works so well i am going to have somebody else try it to make sure its not opening up by touch.
I've owned this device for about 2 months, replacement for Moto Z3; which I think I can still salvage.
The feel in the hand is good but not for gaming or watching videos for an extended period of time.
This is a narrow phone, again this is a narrow phone.
If you are a person who uses their phone for everything, I would NOT recommend this phone.

While the phone feels absolutely smooth and premium to touch, it tends to slip. I was surprised by the lack of grip on the phone. Has to used with a gripped back cover, no excuses.
Good

Yeah, I gave up on a G5(S-less) to pass it to my father and I'm surprised to see how it was way better on the hands. The G5S is huge and encased on polished metal, which may be easy on the eyes, but a pain to handle.
My worst Moto ever
I am a high end user and I have previously used Moto G3, G5, E3 Power. Over all the Moto devices I have this came out be the worst.
Pros and Cons through my perspective
PROS :
1. Premium Design
2. Very good cameras
3. Above average battery backup
CONS :
1. Over heating on normal usage
2. Excessive over heating while charging, initially when the device is cool and the charger is plugged in it charges with ~2.5A for the first 10 minutes and as the device heats up, the rate of charging decreases to such as an extent that the rate goes down to 330mA and it shows 3 hours remaining to charge and it really takes around 3 hours then.
3. The display is too hard and unresponsive even compared to cheap Redmi and Vivo phones, I have even come across many people complaining the display is unresponsive and sometimes flickering too. My display too has minor flickering, and when I use night mode apps I see too much flicker.
4. (The worst problem I face) I got the device 2 months ago I have been facing a severe and weird issue, I don't understand if the problem is with the display or something else, what I found is when I type something in WhatsApp or anywhere at the usual speed that we type, some alphabets needs to be pressed twice.
For example if I had to type a word "Motorola", it comes out like "Moorola". I have to cut and type again slowly and hardly. When I just type something like "Where are you going", its comes out to be "Whre are yo goig" or something like that.
I have even tried flashing stock rom, resetting the device, clearing data of keyboards and also using stock and 3rd party keyboards but the problem still persists.

this is a BIG phone - however once your used to the size you start to realise it isn't a problem to hold one-handed or to use. Thankfully the device is well balanced and not top heavy which helps a lot.
As its glass, even though its "stippled" it is a bit slippery in the hand though for me that's not as issue as i use a case.
If you've used a xiaomi mi max phone you'll know what's in store. Roughly the same. If you can handle a max you can handle the 20x
I`ve been using Mate 20X for two weeks now (it was Mate 9 before). For now its the best phone I've had experience with.
As for ergonomics - it is not as big as I was warring. One hand operation with inbox silicone case is no problem for me.
Mate 10 pro seems bigger in my wife's hand than Mate 20X in mine. I'm 6'4'' - so my hand is not small.
I think the size of Mate 20X is ideal for me. I don't want it bigger or smaller.
The only thing that sucks is selfie camera. Main Camera, screen, battery life is awesome.
I have a habit of resting the phone in my palm. The bottom of the phone secured-ish on a ledge create by resting on my pinky.
Noted that my ligament between my fingers has become sore.
So have used one of the free ring holders that I've accumulated over the years . Sticks onto the middle of the back of the cover. Seems to work nicely for me. Using this really nice, thin black, weaved texture case at the moment. Looks good with the good ring attachment stuck to the back in the middle.
Think I'll purchase one of the cheap ringd covers off Taobao to see how it goes like that too.
Lot of love for this phone.
1. handgrip feels ok..im 6 foot
2. need to look for replacement for car mount, if you are not ok with magnet, it will be rather limited choices
3. you can feel this in your pocket, uncomfortable to drive with
still loving this phone though ...good balance of phone/tablet
This is the biggest smartphone I ever use. Frankly, I did consider for a while before buy this phone as we know overall performance is undeniable only one issue for me is the size. Then almost a month that I use, have to accept that SIZE is really trouble some especially when I put it in pant's pocket whenever I walk or sit. However, the funny thing is because of the SIZE that make me fussy turn to be the best entertainment phone I addicted. Btw, One hand use I found that not an issue even I'm 5.5 fts tall.
I have agree that this the biggest phone I've ever used. I've had the Samsung Note series sense day one, and those were always considered monsters in size. Who knew that I'd be using a tablet sized phone, lol.
The phone is usable with o e hand, but it's meant to be used with two. I've noticed that over the years as pho es grew in size, I've developed a pain in my thumb from trying to do the one handed thing. With Mate 20 X, I e had to train myself not to this.

Meteor swipe is an app that is brilliant as you can reach your most used apps easily with the thumb.
Having a flip case also really helps as you can use the folds to hold in one hand whilst being able to increase the reach of your thumb. Three fingers holding the flap and pinky supporting the phone.

Not sure if this is the best location for this comment, but hoping it's a software problem because my biggest problem with this phone is the in screen fingerprint scanner. It SUCKS! I almost never have unlocked the phone on the first try. It almost always takes 3 to 5 to even more times to get it to work. And if you are trying one handed it is impossible because of the angle and pressure you have to push with. I really hope it's just a software fix.

Yep, and glass screen protectors make it effectively useless. They really need to fix the pressure required to activate the fps.

I had 5 prints recognized to try to make it go quicker. It was still terrible. So I deleted them all and tried two new thumbprints and every time after that in testing, the prints worked on the first try and I thought maybe there was just bad data in the prints from before. This morning I wake up and try and it's the same thing. Almost like my thumbs changed enough from the night before that it can't recognize them.
This Phones and Drones video echoes how bad the fingerprint sensor is.

This is a very big phone, and and very heavy one. If you have average or big hands, you should not have that much of a trouble to use it as your day to day mobile. If not, then you might encounter some reaching difficulties.
The weight of this mobile do takes toll on your hands, despite how big they are. While gaming, holding the phone with both hands is ergonomic, but after a long gaming session, your hands might be sore.
I use to hold the phone like this: Index fingers on triggers, pinkies on bottom to support phone, thumbs at the front sides and rest of the fingers on the back. And after about 40 mins of continuous use, I need to take a rest and flex my hands for a while.
Tis a large device.
But, I have big manly hands.
My biggest gripe is the included case, actually makes the phone more likely to slip out of my hand YMMV.
Might splurge out for the top tier RGB case later on (Aliexpress anyone?).
Things are very smooth, shiny and premium feeling and I am sh1z scared of dropping it.
PS - got a cheapie case coming from eBay to alleviate my anxiety.

Coming from a Note 8, I always felt it was a bit too big in my pocket pants as I usually place it inside my right pants pocket. Samsung was offering a sweet discount on the new Z Flip 5G, so I sprang for it. When folded, it's a bit thick but fits inside my pocket like a champ. The phone itself is very nice looking, I got the Mystic Bronze. It's very striking in appearance, jewel-like. Definitely a fashion statement. I've had strangers ask me what phone it is. They are invariably surprised at the folding aspect of this phone. This is the future, everyone will be sporting a folding phone in a few years. I'm just living in the future today.

It's a great phone. I don't know why you wouldn't want it. Yes, it's expensive but it's worth every penny. Love this phone.
So, I've had it for a week, coming from a S9+, I love it. As has been mentioned, you can get some significant discounts, I would not have pulled the trigger without them.
I read a lot of reviews and felt pretty informed by the time the phone arrived; however, there are some things that I have learned in the past week.
The Screen - The reviews cover screen quality and I was not disappointed. Two things I did not encounter in any reviews that have been eye opening. First, polarization. When viewing the phone vertically the screen is almost unreadable while wearing polarized glasses. This is annoying, once rotated beyond 45 degrees it is usable and is perfect when viewed horizontally. For me, this is a problem when driving as I use the phone for GPS, not a big deal, but I did have to go find a new phone holder for the car that will support the horizontal mount. Also, this makes quick checks of the phone and prolonged use out in the sun a challenge, either take off the glasses and squint, struggle to see through the polarization, or flip sideways. Second, the screen protector. Many reviews mentioned the screen protector and all seemed to present a reasonable level of durability, although, Samsung seems to expect a replacement during the life of the phone. Unfortunately, within two hours of getting the phone I had inadvertantly gouged the screen protector. I tried to open the phone by sliding my thumb in the middle and flipping up (thumbs up). My thumb nail (just cut the day before, definitely not long) dragged across the screen as the phone opened and left a long dent. It was still there the next day when I put my own screen protector on (yeah, I know, Samsung says don't do that), but now I couldn't show it to you if you asked. Samsung's screen protector may have eventually 'self-healed' but I wasn't waiting around to find out. My recommendation, get a removable but strong screen protector, just be careful when you take it off, don't take off Samsung's. Finally, just to reiterate what was in the reviews, the screen is a fingerprint magnet, your own screen protector will help with that.
App Pairs - Something I used once in a while on my S9+, app pairs are not available on this phone (right now), but the rest of the Edge features are still there. There is now an ability to switch into split screen mode with applications from the edge bar, it is confusing and more difficult to execute. What is worse is that the phone and OS/UI will support them, SmartSwitch copied my existing pairs over, I just can't create new ones. Samsung, give me back my app pairs, please.
That's about it, as I said, it has been great so far, I'll update this is I come across anything else.
