I been playing with this phone now for a week or so. Overall it is fine - Android 10 UI is snappy, battery life is decent for a 3500 mah capacity. Apps work as expected. But nothing really outstanding in terms of performance - online browsing and viewing media content in Chrome is at best average .I don't play games so there is nothing I can report in this respect. I am not much into phone cameras (usually I would make a short video once in a while) so this has never been a selling point to me. Touchscreen response for me has been pretty good so far. All in all, a phone that wont be turning any heads, with a subpar (outdated) HW architecture ( A73/A53 BigLittle cluster + 16 nm Mali GPU) and a decent AndroidOne OS.
Considering the phone debuted at 270 Eur in Oct 2019 -I did expect that it could arguably best a 2016 Moto Z device. However Motorola seems to be drifting away from the concept of creating modern , real mid-range phones in recent years, and instead coming out with equipment based on outdated architecture ( albeit a Samsung chipset in this case). The only exception to this are the Zoom and Z4 but they sell for 350-400 Eur and offer a sd 675 paired with a 4GB RAM (du-uh). At that price I think a lot of people will choose for example the Axon 10 pro with a SD 855, wont they?
I have been using Moto Z for the past 2.5 years on LOS 16/17 and sadly, it still blows away the Moto One Action in every department.

Too bad I'm in the US and the G6+ won't be here, but the regular G6 is faster than I thought it would be. I heavily underestimated the Snapdragon 450, as everything on here is ultra smooth and quick. No complaints.
definitely a step up from the sd617 that would get so hot that my g4+ screen would start ghost touching lololol
Coming from a Galaxy S4, it's extremely quick. I'm very happy with it and the battery life is also amazing.
bought it for my wife. i have xforce. antutu is my 120, its 65. but in use it all flies. for the money a great phone.
Went from a Moto x 2014 to Moto G6 play and now to a G6. Wow! The speed on the G6 is great. Zero lag, everything loads fast and the 3 gb of RAM is more than enough to keep up. The G6 plays downfall is the 2gb ram I believe. Just doesn't seem to be enough for average multitasking. The 4000 mAh battery was nice though!
Sometimes it has lag at text input, and multitasking.
SD450 is disappointing, would have liked to see at least a 600 series on this. Have to lower settings in resource-hungry games to play them comfortably. For everyday use though the G6 does just fine.

I currently have the Honor View 10 that uses the same SoC, memory and very similar software. My daily use has been great and I've never faced clutters or slow downs in the performance. The battery life is also top notch, thanks in large to the under the hood optimisations in the EMUI 8.0
Overall speed and performance really good.. No lag no slow down..
I have been using it from a couple of days and its performance is fine and no lags till now. And BTW mine is a 4GB variant.
For me is good. I'm satisfied for heavy business use.
For the price, this phone has exceptional performance. It can easily be compared to some of the other top flagships from around its release date. The Kirin 970 paired with 4GB of RAM and plenty to keep everything running smoothly.
Honor 10's overall speed is excellent. Even after 2 years of use. I look on social networks, write articles for a my webmaster blog from my phone, take pictures. No complaints.

Uhm, I don't understand: has the Nokia 7 Plus not seen a worldwide release?
The 7+ is older but:
Has the snapdragon 660 vs 636 (you can play Asphalt 9 on High Quality).
No notch.
No glass backplate.
Costs 310 instead of 349.
This new 7.1 does not make sense in the HMD Nokia line up, it is the successor of the 7 (no global release), nearly identical to the Nokia 6.1/2018 and is more expensive/less worth than the 7 plus from last year!
How can you love this phone?
Even the Nokia 8 (Snapdragon 835, OLED) is cheaper now.
the phone is overrated, i'll wait the price drop to 289 for the 64GB version, just my opinion

7 plus doesn't have US LTE bands. This one does.
Whoops, that reply is to the first post.
I pre ordered the midnight blue after watching a few videos, but second guessing my color choice. I’m warming up to the steel color. Being in the US, none of the other Nokia’s they brought here interested me, but seems like Nokia knocked it out with this one.
For someone that cares only about processor and RAM, there’s other options with trade offs, but I look at the whole package and this seems very well rounded with all the features you need for day-to-day use.
camera specs look good
beautiful design
$350 USD seems fair
4gb/64gb
headphone jack
Android One (!)
flagship build quality
NFC
real time HDR
modern 19:9 ratio
SD card support
all sensors seem to be inside.
not phablet sized
Notch doesn’t bother me and I actually prefer a phone to have one now. I tried to go back notchless, and it bothered me seeing all that unused space up top.
Nokia 6.1 is an affordable option,
It's a good phone for my grandma as she at most uses at most 5 apps.
3GB of ram can is not really enough for daily usage, it'll freeze/lockup sometimes
I had to change the background tasks limit it to 3 for my dad.
Nokia 7.1 is a much better device imo
I don't mind the notch, I can do with or without,
it's a necessary design choice for many manufacturers who wants to make smaller phones with higher screen display ratio,
this will continue until we have in-display Camera/Sensors/(Speakers?)
then we might see it mostly disappear with only few makers appealing to a niche crowd who likes them for aesthetic reasons.
It sits right between $450-500 flagship killers, (Oneplus 6)
and motorola G6 (this design... I'd take the notch over that any second)
this one is $350,
nice aluminum frame and design
has a good camera (most phones in this range have just okay cameras)
guarantee monthly security updates, and major updates over 2 years
4gb/64gb is now considered minimum for daily usage, I can't go with anything less...
Dual SIM
HDR 10bit with that nice LCD display
...etc

Agree with this whole post. Only other phone I would see as a viable alternative for US users is the Blu Vivo XI+ and not sure I'd trust Blu.
Note on 7.1 Setup:
While unboxing, when phone says Update is available and starts downloading it, avoid hitting "pause" as it causes phone to go in a loop, and will require a restart to "set up" the phone.

All I can say is this this is faster now with Android 10 Booting is faster than Windows 10. The old Xperia Z5compact would have booted eventually but the 5 is a BEAST at booting. Everything else is fantastic too. No lag here. I don't install tonnes of games though so haven't loaded this baby up to see how it would cope with crap.
I just keep what I need to use and oh Black Desert online is a game you might want to try out on this phone. 3Gig install now doesn't seem so large. Saying this I've got it on a Kindle 8 so considering its size it's still still playable and looks pretty too.
Sony have done their homework with this handset. I'm satisfied.
One thing I have noticed. If you activate Stamina mode this will affect performance. No more buttery smooth scrolling for you. So decide battery saving of nice user experience.
I'd say that this phone is fast as it supposed to be according to hardware specs. BUT having Pixel 4 at the same time for comparison, X5 doesn't feel as fast as P4. I believe that it will be very hard to find slow&full of lags Snapdragon 855 flagship device.
This thing is lightning fast
Almost stock android and 855 chip. It's going be fast. Nothing note worthy to report.
Let me tell you this. At this date and time, this phone is a rocket, running Android 10 55.1.A.8.11
All I can tell you about Xperia 5 is not 100%. I have only one thing that is totaly bad: recording video 4K from stand by mode is totaly broken. Video freeze often. When recording second video, its better, but no 100% continuous.
So sad. So disappointment.

Good Performance compared to price
I will be straight to the point
in gaming you can run
COD at all max setting with more than 56 FPS
PUBG : Mobile with HD setting and anti-aliasing on with almost 53-54 FPS
This is more performance than what you get on Realme 6 pro as G90T has more graphical power then
720G good for us we are getting powerful device at much lower price.
You won't be able to enjoy that 90Hz screen in this to games cause the process can put out only limited raw power so to enjoy 90Hz refresh rate you need some other games that supports it are easy to run.
In work side of it the phone has quit good screen but not bright enough to see in sunlight you need to find some shadow to clearly see the screen, battery life is great.
Overall a great budget smartphone for gaming and even for work indoors.
I was ready to hate this phone.
But I don't.
I like the minimalist UI, the fact that it runs Android 10, a lot of the pre-installed bloat can be uninstalled, the speed, the memory capacity, the fact you can use 2 Sims and an SD card (this was really why I chose this phone).
And so far, honestly, I don't hate anything about it at all!
i got the bleeding screen after the last update B.31
I buyed too coming from Lenovo P2.
I suggest this phone and the only fault is the screen under the sun that is barely readable.
For 200 euro no phone had this performance , a 90 Hz , triple slot , Jack 3,5 , good battery and nfc
Fine
