All I can say is this this is faster now with Android 10 Booting is faster than Windows 10. The old Xperia Z5compact would have booted eventually but the 5 is a BEAST at booting. Everything else is fantastic too. No lag here. I don't install tonnes of games though so haven't loaded this baby up to see how it would cope with crap.
I just keep what I need to use and oh Black Desert online is a game you might want to try out on this phone. 3Gig install now doesn't seem so large. Saying this I've got it on a Kindle 8 so considering its size it's still still playable and looks pretty too.
Sony have done their homework with this handset. I'm satisfied.
One thing I have noticed. If you activate Stamina mode this will affect performance. No more buttery smooth scrolling for you. So decide battery saving of nice user experience.
I'd say that this phone is fast as it supposed to be according to hardware specs. BUT having Pixel 4 at the same time for comparison, X5 doesn't feel as fast as P4. I believe that it will be very hard to find slow&full of lags Snapdragon 855 flagship device.
This thing is lightning fast
Almost stock android and 855 chip. It's going be fast. Nothing note worthy to report.
Let me tell you this. At this date and time, this phone is a rocket, running Android 10 55.1.A.8.11
All I can tell you about Xperia 5 is not 100%. I have only one thing that is totaly bad: recording video 4K from stand by mode is totaly broken. Video freeze often. When recording second video, its better, but no 100% continuous.
So sad. So disappointment.

Coming from a Honor 7 and comparing it to an iphone 7 plus that i have access to, i am very happy with it's overall working speed.
I am not into mobile gaming and even less interested in benchmark results, but use my smartphone quite often for all kind of everyday tasks these little computers were made for. I "measure" the working speed only by my perceived grade of annoyment when waiting for something to happen.
Starting the camera sometimes annoys me, guessing it takes sometimes around 4-5 seconds (not a snapshot device, even with hotkey on voldown button) besides that nothing to complain in terms of speed. I am really impressed by price/performance of this device.
In short... Yes
Not super but satisfactory.
I tried out a friends phone with this SoC. Works fine, still kinda sad that it's not really battery efficient.
Color
No mention of its speed, I love the color Sapphire Blue!

speed
overall the speed is totaly of the chart compared to my old galaxy s7e and also teh s8+ so in this section it its performing above expctation.

(sorry for wrong spellings)
It is booting like crazy, overall very snapy even for demanding users.
I come from the XZ. From what I can say until now, it's incredible fast! Both performance and booting is outstanding. But also battery life is by far much better than the XZ.

Thanks for the info. I'm on XZ and thinking about buying XZ2.
Battery life is better than anything I've ever had Qualcomm/sony have done a great job optimizing background processes

It is ridiculously fast. I can't think of any phone that performs better than this for now. Better than its predecessors and a whole lot better than others out there (based on my experiences).
Overall speed is fast and snappy. The UI is lightweight but for ergonomics, OnePlus Oxygen is still much better.
Enough for my daily use

I currently have the Honor View 10 that uses the same SoC, memory and very similar software. My daily use has been great and I've never faced clutters or slow downs in the performance. The battery life is also top notch, thanks in large to the under the hood optimisations in the EMUI 8.0
Overall speed and performance really good.. No lag no slow down..
I have been using it from a couple of days and its performance is fine and no lags till now. And BTW mine is a 4GB variant.
For me is good. I'm satisfied for heavy business use.
For the price, this phone has exceptional performance. It can easily be compared to some of the other top flagships from around its release date. The Kirin 970 paired with 4GB of RAM and plenty to keep everything running smoothly.
Honor 10's overall speed is excellent. Even after 2 years of use. I look on social networks, write articles for a my webmaster blog from my phone, take pictures. No complaints.

I didn't cry in the Titanic, but this phone keeps up. If 10 was the highest, I'd put it at a 7. Specs work well with the OS but suffer a bit in extreme multi tasking. Better than the other Moto phone's I've had though
As fast as those $1000 dollar phones.
Coming from a Pixel XL... the Moto Z3 Play is preforming just as good if not better. And the screen is nicer in my opinion. No regrets whatsoever about this phone!
A solid 7 out of 10.. I have a note 9 and Pixel 2xl.
I use the Z3 play the most.

8 out of 10, smooth and reasonably fast

Fast enough, it doesn't frustrate me or piss me off like some other mid-range phone I've owned have. It holds up fine. My wife has the Galaxy S9+ and I can totally tell the difference between build quality and speed but I'm happy with my Z3.

I agree with you, comparing it to a high end Samsung or most flagship phones is not really fair. But in it's range it's pretty damned good. No problems with general use. I picked one up a few months back unlocked US version with the battery mod included. on sale, plus some Best Buy money and a sale of a decent older phone for cheap. I needed something while my 3xl was out for repair. To be honest it performed far better than I expected. Use it on my Fi account. I know with the battery mod it can be bulky, but on the positive side it feels good in the hand. Just put a screen protector on it because I couldn't find a case which fit both, and honestly haven't tried to find a case since.
Coming from a Galaxy S6 Edge and this phone is worlds better. I can't speed to battery life on it just yet, but I am finding that the device can take everything I can throw at it so far and laugh. It does hiccup from time to time, but I honestly got this phone REFURB in Grade 'A' condition (looked brand new to me) for $175 after tax and I feel like I lucked out. I haven't had it close any apps on me just yet, and the UI is much snappier than my S6. I just updated everything to 9.0 and loving it more and more.
I'll report back in a few weeks but I'd buy this phone again in a heart beat. (it is a little big for me, but for $175 . . . I'll deal with it)
It's rather fast with 18W PD charger, but battery module is another story.

Good Performance compared to price
I will be straight to the point
in gaming you can run
COD at all max setting with more than 56 FPS
PUBG : Mobile with HD setting and anti-aliasing on with almost 53-54 FPS
This is more performance than what you get on Realme 6 pro as G90T has more graphical power then
720G good for us we are getting powerful device at much lower price.
You won't be able to enjoy that 90Hz screen in this to games cause the process can put out only limited raw power so to enjoy 90Hz refresh rate you need some other games that supports it are easy to run.
In work side of it the phone has quit good screen but not bright enough to see in sunlight you need to find some shadow to clearly see the screen, battery life is great.
Overall a great budget smartphone for gaming and even for work indoors.
I was ready to hate this phone.
But I don't.
I like the minimalist UI, the fact that it runs Android 10, a lot of the pre-installed bloat can be uninstalled, the speed, the memory capacity, the fact you can use 2 Sims and an SD card (this was really why I chose this phone).
And so far, honestly, I don't hate anything about it at all!
i got the bleeding screen after the last update B.31
I buyed too coming from Lenovo P2.
I suggest this phone and the only fault is the screen under the sun that is barely readable.
For 200 euro no phone had this performance , a 90 Hz , triple slot , Jack 3,5 , good battery and nfc
Fine
