I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy A40.
It displays constantly the symbol/icon for signal reception/strenght with varying bars in the upper Android Notification Bar.
http://newsandguides.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-android-notification-bar-icon-guide/
No SIM-card is inserted. Does it know eSIM? Never has seen a SIM card. SIM card manger is empty, shows nothing. No phone number.
Deactivating flight mode shows firstly a short moment circle, then signal strength reappears.
What does this mean? Does this icon indicate something else than mobile signal repection?
No change with reset to factory defaults.
Is this correct or wrong?

Hello everyone,
Purchased the MDA II from Tek'N'Toys and love it. However, the manual does not mention all of the notification icons that we use here in the U.S. and I don't have any idea what a couple of them mean. For example: The triangle that briefly appears I am assuming means "Tri-Band." There is one icon that appears that looks like an arm with an "x" in the middle. It could also look like a telephone with an "x." I am assuming this means that a network is not available. Does anyone know if these are correct?
Also, how do I know if my GPRS is continually "on?" I've read that it's constantly on even when turned "off;" however, upon turning the device off, it switches from being connected to the GPRS status to just "waiting" status. Any ideas on this as well? Even with Messenger online it still goes into "waiting" mode when turned off.
Any advice will help.
Best regards,
Monty Gibson
my defy sometimes lost the signal and GPRS,
especially after gamming :S
and every time while signal is gone,
the signal icon shown on status bar is freezed:S
i mean.. it shows full signal but no signal in fact
its so annoying that it make me miss many calls.....
i rely need somebody's help orz
what should i do?
im using cm7 by quarx and i tried to reflash cm7 before, but not works :S
I have experienced the problem when I first flashed CM7. After lot of frustration, I found that the sim card dose not fit snugly in the sim card slot. And after a drop, the sim card had moved from the contact. Removing the battery and setting the sim card properly solved the problem for me. Hope this helps. Another thing you might look at is the setting the right base band. And also select the proper network type in the test menu [dial *#*#4636#*#* and go into phone information and scroll down.] Sometimes this gets reset to WCDMA
Like in title anyone heard or had problem with 3g/h/h+ only ? All in all 3g WORKS(1 out of 10) but it has so many hiccups, it stucks with up arrow blinking so many times or changes 3g/h/h+ icon all the time, while on note2 with same sim works great, even when travelling...
Problem seems bigger when I'm in the country side (still with full signal bar, but a bit worse dbm which can be found in settings).
On lte and edge I think it never happend.
I have 910c with lollipop on board.
Do you think it's more software or hardware problem? I have tripped knox already :/
I've had a Wear 24 for about three weeks. Yesterday, for the first time, I noticed an icon in the settings dropdown (next to the Bluetooth and wifi indicators) that looked like a sim card with a line struck through it. This icon had never appeared before. Perhaps coincidentally, yesterday was also my best battery life day since I got the watch. While the icon was present, I also saw little arrows next to the Bluetooth symbol indicating upload/download activity.
Today, that icon is gone and so are the arrows (and battery life is worse, though I'm using a different watch face, so who knows?).
Cellular connectivity is switched off and I've never activated the watch on the VZW network. Anyone understand what's up? Thanks.

The first wear 24 I got had that icon permanently. Something was wrong with the sim card/tray. I returned it and got a new one. My guess is you have a slightly loose or defective sim slot or card...
I disabled sim and run in airplane mode all the time. Never activated. Always see that icon. Assumed because I disabled all the Verizon network stuff. Seeing roughly 22h battery life
I see it, too. I disabled the SIM in SIM Info, and the icon appeared and has stayed. Get pretty good battery life as a result.

When I go to the SIM Info app, I see a permission request that doesn't do anything when I touch it. What did you disable and where so that the icon appears and battery life improves?
The status bar is showing 2 signal bars with LTE icons on my phone. I only have one Verizon sim card inserted. See top right on the screenshot.
Is there any way to disable the 2nd signal bar?
Did you use the dialer code and put your phone into LTE only mode? That caused the double signal bars for me to. Putting it back to TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UTMS fixed it.
