Hi,
Ive heard and seen positive reviews circulating the Mi A1 but come to see; The MiA1 on xda has many problems. So i hope users of this phone can tell me:
1. Ive heard that the Mi A1 has two varainces: tissot amd tissot_sprout. Is it true? And if yes is there any way to know if it is tissot_sprout by the phone? Like model number? Etc?
2. Ive seen reviews on battery issues and other issues after the October update. Someone verify?
3. I have found the phone for SGD 349, Wonder what colours look nice?
4. What is your device manufacfured from (ive seen that Mi A1 devices are manufactured in another country before it is manufactured in China, Is that why people experience problems stated in question 2?)
5. Is battery life awesome? I use it for Youtube, netflix, spotify amd instagram etc. I use 4G all the time. I wanna know whats the SoT and Standby.
6. Overall review/experience?
So far ive never tried xiaomi because I disliked the MIUI, But looking at Mi A1 woth android one, i think ill give it a shot, what do you guys think?
Cheers to the community of XDA!
I was from zenfone 2 and it sucked alot
Hi.
I've just bought this phone, and couldn't help but noticing that the touch screen response is noticeably slower than my Nexus 5.
Is it the hardware, or the software?
I'm afraid it's the former, especially considering that this is a china phone, but still, is it possible that not a single reviewer noticed this?
What about you guys?
EDIT: added video to make clear what I'm talking about.
EDIT2: tested the N4, N5, and P9 lite, and I'm 100% positive they're all that much more responsive than the Mi A1.
Does anyone know a way to improve the touch screen response?
Near three months with the phone and I must say that I haven't noticed that this far...
I am facing stuttering while I play fps games, and it's terrible.

You need a phone to compare with.
Ask a friend with a "western" phone to let you try his, and try scrolling up and down on settings page, and you should feel the difference.
It seems like the responsiveness is quite low...I didn't expect this from a 200 € phone.

I didn't either notice any latency. Maybe you can ask a friend with another Mi A1 and try scrolling up and down on settings page, and you should feel if there is any difference.

I don't know if You try to be smart but anyway...
This isn't my only phone at the moment so I can compare with few other phones.
Compared to almost any "western" phone" (whatever that means) within same price range the difference isn't visible for normal eye...
But as I'm not playing games or scroll up/down on settings page as my hobby so the "latency" Yoy are referring to doesn't bother me.
And I can assure You that if the "latency" or lag was common You would see it all over the forum...

I wasn't trying to be smart, I just thought you were using it "by itself" rather than comparing.
I'm not playing any games nor scrolling up and down all day long either, but I immediately noticed a much less responsive touch as soon as I started using the phone.
Maybe if it were true I'd see it all over the forum, but the same happened to me with my old oppo find 5: nobody mentioned anything about the touch screen latency, but it was mile behind the nexus 5, and even the nexus 4.
It's not too much annoying, but I admit it makes the phone feel slower and cheaper.

I agreed with you. And you're right about that issue.
I noticed that thing while playing some games and on some app it's barely happen. I noticed that on Fleksy keyboard ( not idea other keyboard work fine or not) I seen the same question asked by someone in this forum but he or she talk about the games.
I didn't seen that issue with my galaxy s2 i9100

Sir I can assure you that your unit must be defective or your eye is playing a trick on you(or you are very sensitive about the lag you are talking about.).
I am using both N4 and A1, and I frequently change those two for daily use. I didn't feel any difference in responsiveness.
Just to be sure, I compared those two side by side just now, and I couldn't tell any difference. Just to be more sure, I gave my friends those two and encouraged them to try out. They also couldn't tell any difference.
Not sure what do you exactly mean by touch 'latency' but I can confirm that the touch sensitivity on this phone is a little less than other phones. I used mostly samsung phones in the past, the S and Note series, and also the LG G4 and I can safely say that the touch on a 2014 phone 'Samsung S4' is better than Mi A1.
It feels like you have to push in just a little more effort than usual to register a touch, especially in the bottom right corner of the screen. All this fuss was significantly noticable in the first couple of weeks but now its been over a month with this phone so I'm getting used to it. Muscle memory has gotten a hang of just how much pressure you have to apply to get your touch registered.
I tried third party apps like touch calibrator and SGS booster but they haven't helped! Will wait for the feb patch, if it doesn't fix then will go for a root method to increase the touching sensitivity by manipulating build prop.

I'd really hope so, but I'm afraid this is one way for manufacturers to keep down the costs, while keeping up the perceived quality, i.e, they save on digitizers and give you 4 GB of ram instead of 3.
About the N4 latency, I'm not sure because it's been quite a while since the last time I used it, but the N5 touchscreen response is way better than the M1 A1.

I'm not talking about sensitivity.
I'm talking about the time that passes between your finger touching the screen, and the screen registering your touch.
I wish my english was a little bit better, so that I could explain it well.
This video should clear things up:
I'll edit the first post.

I'm not aware of any.
It can be approximated with a camera that records at high enough FPS and calculating the delay knowing that every X FPS a second passes, like this:

I have also Nexus 5 and haven't noticed any difference in scrolling in settings, apps (I don't play games). The only thing I noticed is that on certain screen protectors the screen is often less responsive.
About "western"-chinese phones, the build quality of N5 and especially for example Samsung Galaxy S8 is way worse then A1 or Redmi Note 3 Pro (speaking of my own experience).

You're right, the Mi A1 uses better materials (way better) than the N5.
My point is that Xiaomi is (probably) saving in other things.
A phone isn't just its case; in fact, a smartphone is a mostly a piece of electronics, and my judgement of it depends largely on the quality of its screen, its chipset, etc.
That said, I don't want to turn this into a war.
I'm not even sure that xiaomi is saving in its hardware (maybe it's just poor optimization).
In the meanwhile, I'd like to hear other opinions, and as I'm exchanging the xiaomi with the moto g5s plus, I'll report back to let you guys know how it feels once I receive it.
Well, I realized moto g5s plus doesn't support google camera hdr+, so that's a no-no for me.
I'm thinking about the moto x4, which is also A1, but I'm not sure if a slightly better camera, IP68, and a better touch are worth 100€ more.
I don't think so.
In the meanwhile I tried again the N4, and the P9 lite, and I can confirm that their touchscreen is definitely better than this Xiaomi.
Still, I'd like to know if anyone knows a way to improve, even a little bit, the responsiveness of the touch.

Apsolutely not worth 100€ more. Btw still don't see any difference in touch screen compared to N5. Are you playing games and noticing this or ? What is your LCD panel manufacturer ?

No games.
It is apparent everywhere, home screens, settings, scrolling..
How can I check the LCD panel manufacturer?
We already had some thread discuss about this issue.
You can see the video on #18.

Untill now. I dont know this happen for all mia1 or just some device like you and me. First, I think this is a bug of software from xiaomi, but try some custome rom outside but still so laggy. The last hope is watting some kernel heavy mod, may be the problem will solve. If not, it definitedly hardware issue, and no way to fix that.

Dial *#*#6484#*#* and go to version information.
So, I bought a Poco F1 back in September 2018, I was really disappointed with the phone because of the touch issues that won't let you play games nor type and the bleeding issue with the LCD. This was one of the worst phone I have ever bought. So, last week someone in my family asked me to buy a nice phone in min budget, while seeking for one, I found only 2 phones that fulfilled the criteria, Zenfone M2 Pro and Redmi Note 7, but since my previous encounter with a Xiaomi phone was not good, I thought that I will go with Zenfone, but after watching the reviews and asking various people on social networks, I at last thought about giving Xiaomi another chance (which I always do), and they did not disappoint me.
1. Touch Issue - No issue related to touch, only the lcd is quite sensitive just like Nokia 7 Plus's screen.
2. Bleeding Issue - I did not see any bleeding issue with my unit.
3. Software Issues - The MIUI 10 skin lags a lot, but I am sure that they will fix it with an update.
4. Camera - Camera is real bad, back camera is average but no details on zoom. Front camera is real ****, no details, it smoothes the skin even when AI and face retouch is off.
5. Performance - As the SD660 should perform, only few lags here and there that can be fixed.
6. Heating issue - Yes, there is a heating issue, while charging as well as while playing games, my Nokia 7 Plus had that issue too, but was later fixed with an update, maybe a custom ROM or an update can fix that too.
7. Camera2API - Full Support of Camera 2 API.
Conclusion -
1. This is surely the real successor of the legendary Redmi Note 3, and I recommend this phone, even when I said that I will never buy a redmi phone because of Poco F1.
2. Other Software related issues may be present, I only checked for the major ones, and it passed the test, I hope that other issues can be solved via an update.
PLEASE FIX CAMERA (4) AND SOFTWARE ISSUES (3) ASAP.
Seems like you got weird bugs that made the phone hot
Mine, running on the stock MIUI that came out of the box, never get hot, even when charging and playing PUBG at the same time
It also has ARB, be careful when downgrade ROMs and MIUI

Mines on the EU rom. Not hot either except when I use GPS and the screen stays on for extended periods
Is it worth to buy this phone? I'm a gamer so does this phone have heating issues? I can see that custom roms isn't stable for the meantime, so do i have stay to miui? I'm new to xiaomi. So if someone suggest another device, i'll look into it. Btw, RN7 or RN7 Pro?
If you game a lot on your phone, i'm not sure I would buy it, touch issues
If MIUI is not your cup of tea, you can always install a custom launcher such as Nova or Apex or whatever, as they don't require rooting.
So what i should buy then? RN5?
What kind of game? And also budget? I play PUBGM, Honkai Impact 3, Cytus 2. No issues so far with my RN7.
There's thermal limit on this phone tho. You can disable it with Magisk plugin (I didn't use it yet so i couldn't tell you more about that plugin.)
Yes
Occasionally I play a game, but I'm not a passionate player.
I've read about what you are now asking and the general conclusion is that the phone is absolutely capable of sustaining most of the games that are in circulation. However, the extremely demanding games are not for this phone, you should first of all enhance the processor than the SD 660. You know best what are games that require a stronger processor
To be even clearer, this phone will do any game but it will do it with difficulty in extremely demanding games (heating, braking, delayed reaction, etc.)
Is there any heating issues in this phone?
explain your self

Well, then I am lucky to have NVT panel ... haven't used the phone yet, waiting for Xiaomi to send me the unlock bootloader confirmation.
My Poco also has NVT, and does not suffer the problems those with Tianma panels have. And I thought it was an isolated issue with Poco only, I didn't realize it's also an issue with Note 7, and I didn't bother to check before I bought the Note 7.
My display is boe and no touch issues so far
Global or Indian variant?

Well, I guess so, definitely not China version. Bought in Singapore, as well as my Poco f1 from Xiaomi's own store. Maybe they only sell NVT, I don't know.
Xiaomi should really fix it, I mean, other people who are no so tech savvy like going to XDA lol (like my entire family) will be suffering and swear off from Xiaomi forever.

How worth is it to buy the OP8P right now in the US ? I am concerned about the huge number of screen problems that are coming up for the device.
I do not change my devices frequently and in need of an upgrade from my current ~4 year old OP3. I need an unbiased opinion on this, can anyone help ?
Anyone from the US purchased this device recently? I do not want to go through the hassles of replacing the device and want to use the device for a long time.
I did from Amazon. No screen issues. battery life had me worried but it's actually descent coming from a pixel 2 xl.
Camera also had me worry... Hit and miss here. The HW is there but software isnt doing the best all the time.
Google cam app seems to be doing a bit better but you don't get the cool macro option. Nights cape does a pretty good job.
Main issue is contrasts being cranked all the way up and images a bit dark overall. Doesn't seem great with nature but works well for buildings and such with angular details

Got it a week or two ago when it just became available on the Amazon site.

Go-to YouTube and search for key word's " oneplus 8 pro screen issues ". You'll then be presented with indian customers being able to see a green tint when the brightness is turned down to zero in a pitch dark room. Hardly something that one does on a daily basis ,? .
Quite a few threads about this issue.
Personally no issues, early adopter too
