I truly need Dual SIM for lot of international travel..this is one of the few or only phone that supports 4G/3G dual sim standby. I have heard on T-Mobile even VoLTE works (I am on ATT, don't ask if not for their coverage i would have switched)..but the only band missing is 66 which T-Mobile is planning to roll out, but it would be ages for that to be widely deployed, and by that time you can get Mi Note 3 ..
Hi,
As far as I am concerned, I would stay away from this phone
It's really nice... on paper !
But real life looks quite different.
First, despite having cloase specs to the Xiaomi mi5s Plus, I could compare them both side by side : in EVERY aspect, the mi Note 2 is beaten by it's Xiaomi sibbling.
Second, the display is simply a catastrophy... unless you really like blueish displays and ****ty view angles. It's AMOLED. The Xiaomi mi5s Plus which has IPS doesn't suffer from that.
Third, the GPS is lazy, always showing you 10 meters behind where you really are. Here again, the mi5s Plus is much more accurate !
It might be that I have got a defective device. But at least about the display, I had the exact same symptoms on the OP3 I got the very first day it was released
SO I guess : AMOLED might offer really random performance
Regards
My husband bought us mi note 2's. We have owned them for 4 months. I personally have no plans on buying another u.s. marketed cell phone. I highly recommend the mi note 2. I have the 128GB storage phone.

Just to give my experience so people seeing this don't immediately think this phone is awful... I've had mine (Global 6GB/128GB) for about a week and it's been great. Last phone was a Nexus 6P but I'm liking this much more. The display isn't as high resolution as the 6P but that is only really noticeable when reading small text. I don't have any issue with the display being "blueish" or poor viewing angles. GPS is also fine for me so I'm wondering if you did get a defective unit.
Get the phone you won't be disappointed. I have had the global edition for a couple of months and it poops on anything else .. Side by side with the Samsung S8 and this phone looks pretty much the same. It is not as fast as an S8, but then costs half as much, and it has loads more memory, dual SIMs, is still one of the fastest phones out there, and the display is plenty good enough. Maybe not the phone you should get if you find blowing ROMs exciting but if you want a phone that works really well out of the box this is it. The benchmarks appear to be better for the international edition so get that one, with 128gb. Remember that Xiaomi make more phones than Apple so you can bet it is going to be a solid product.
If the poster above actually owned the phone they would be competent enough to flip into the settings and adjust the screen settings to warm if they want a warmer looking screen. You can also set the screen to remove blue light at night if you want that sort of thing.
I am running dual SIMs with no issues internationally.. 4g is fast. The front end is Miui which is a bit quirky but has a bunch of good features built in.. And, having a 4000ma battery you can get a couple of days use out of the phone between charge on light use. The GPS is really good, helped by the fact that most of the phone is glass. So you get a fix real fast. Best phone I have ever owned for sat nav in a car. The GPS doesn't suck the battery dry either.
Camera is good, not brilliant but it's better than many Chinese phones. I am comparing to a DSLR which costs twice as much as the phone so probably a bit unfair! Double the resolution of the S8 phone...
This isn't a hacker phone.. It is a good phone that just works and has an interesting launcher with good features to help you control your privacy and battery use.. Usually the things you need to root your phone for.. With this phone you don't need to root to do that, and that is really handy. I do actually own this phone so feel free to ask questions

I've had mine for going into three months now. I'm in the US using T-Mobile and I've had only one issue with it so far (I have a few issues taking calls on a wired headphones). Overall, really satisfied with it.
Is it still worth getting in 2017? Any problems now!
screen and camera mediocre.
I just got mine and going to start using it. Initial impressions, it's a BEAUTY. The black one is a SEXY monolith. Very minimal in curves and subtle in design. Nothing jazzy. The bad part - Only the screen/display. Yes the resolution is a little less. But honestly, you wouldn't even notice it. 6GIGs OF RAM DUDEE! What else do you need? And 128 is more than enough. For that price, you will usually compromise on something or the other with other phones, not this one.
I currently own an S6 Edge+ and the battery has degraded heavily so I am currently looking for a new phone and this one looks very promising, but will it get Android Oreo?

I just love that phone.
I have this phone for month now and it great, fast, stable, no heating, great battery life. After all I think its worth baying this phone.
I confirm I got this phone few days ago from Gearbest, paid it 213€ with shipment included. I will now request bootloader unlocking so I can add root. I am planning to keep stock MIUI, really hoping it's going to get MIUI 9 before christmas.

With the lower res on the oneplus would you buy again after owning one?

I like the fact that it is dual SIM and works on Verizon.
OnePlus 7 is right around the corner. I'd wait for that if I were you.

I just got this phone and it's the best phones I've had. I've only had all Galaxies but even with Ron's on my galaxy this phone is soooooo buttery smooth and very fast. It's basically everything I'd try to get my Samsung to be. This is a great choice but the OnePlus 7 is coming out soon so it's up to you.

Okay, so, after going through many brands and various experiences these are my 2 cents on the 6T: :fingers-crossed:
Camera is very good, but there are better options if you're purely focusing on photography
The performance is absolutely magnificent. Dominates the charts.
The UI experience is one of the best. OxygenOS not only instigates a fully seamless and stock experience, it offers a wide range of personalization options and really helps the user experience.
It is a stable OS, updated consistently and unlikely to experience unprecedented hard resets and bootloops.
Connectivity is brilliant, apart from the Bluetooth. I have been having some trouble with the automatic connection to eg wireless headsets and the instance of remaining connected or switching between audio sources, also had some issues with connecting to other devices.
Screen is great, yet I feel they could've done better with the resolution, than just 1080p.
Other features like the notch and the fingerprint sensor are huge pluses and good conversation starters, as they not only make the device an actual beauty but are recent innovations.
The build quality is great. Sturdy, durable, slick.
Lack of a headphone jack is a bit asinine, but does not in anyway overweight the advantages. Would still like to see a jack on the upcoming 7.
Great price. Value for money.
The lack of a stereo speaker and poor placement not only makes it easier for one to cover it up accidentally but also makes for an okay audio experience, which is unsatisfactory by my standards.
I love my 6T, but would sell it in a minute and buy a 7, if the 7 brings back a notification LED.
I got the OP6T McLaren edition in January and it has been a fun device. I agree with everything others said above.
For lack of notification LED light, there are a few apps you can use that work very well. And for the lack of stereo speakers, there is a magisk module that turns the earpiece into a second speaker which works well. :good:
I bought one because it seemed like the best value locally. My wife bought at the same time one of those $1400 apple doo hicky things after playing with my phone for 37 minutes she made me return her fancy designed in California apple and buy her a one plus 6t.
Well I got it. Brilliant phone

Lol anything that has been removed during the span of 6 and 6T will not ever return. Led is going away in almost every smartphone coming out this year even Samsung removed it in the s10 and it's all to make more screen and OnePlus will follow that trend just like with the notch...... And they're definitely not bringing back headphone jack.... Both 7 and 7 pro are going to be using an optical in display demerit similar to the one used in the 6T... Maybe the pro will have something better since it's the pro though (ultrasonic?) Maybe but I don't think so.....

Exactly. Everyone says to root it an get more, but in reality, unless you use a lot of magsik moduels then there is no reason to. Only thing g I did was turn my TMobile variant into an international one.
I only use root to block ads but there are solutions for that these days. Root is also use full to get rid of gapps.

I switched mine to international. Rooted with magisk to block ads, enable dual speaker, also used swift installer to completely black out everything so I conserve battery. Viper 4 android. Installed TWRP as well. I agree though I was very impressed with everything stock. I've always had Samsung phones and this was everything I'd try to get my Samsung to be.

I'm planning to buy a pre-owned OnePlus 6T, 6GB 128GB version. It's cheaper here and about six months OnePlus warranty is remaining. Will it be a good decision or not?
Also only now I'm hearing of the AMOLED flickering. I don't have any access to try out the flickering. But I read that switching from pwm to DC dimming option can solve this issue. Does 6T provide that? If I'm using custom ROM do they support DC dimming? Please answer ASAP.

Wait so is DC dimming intended for certain devices which MAY have flickering issues? I thought DC dimming was intended to reduce flickering that generally happens on all Amoleds at low brightness levels due to something regarding the screen voltage, but is only detectably bothersome by some people.

You are correct. The majority of people will not see a difference.
I do not see a bit of difference so I guess I am not one affected (thankfully).
It's been a while since I started this thread. Still I didn't buy it even after some months due to flood issues and it's recovery.
The development support is still strong and that's what I always look for. I read almost all the recent threads and posts in the ROM's thread.
So I'm asking it again is it still ok to buy 6T blindly? Or is there any better phone in this range with strong development support? I can now get a pre-owned 8GB version without warranty for $330 and that's my maximum budget.

Unless you need a 300 dollar phone, I would look for a used 7 pro or 7t instead. If you find a good deal you get one for 450 or so, but even new, the 7 pro is 500 right now from OP. The camera on the 6t is a big weak point, especially compared to other phones like the Galaxy s10, which can be gotten for about the same price now.

Thanks for the reply mate. But my budget is only $330 so I can't afford 7 or 7T. That's why I asked if I can go for 6T itself or is there anything other than 6T with same or better specs (you said about weak camera of 6T, so better camera too). Regarding S10 I couldn't find good custom ROM support, that's another top criteria for me.

Hey guys,
I am seriously tempted by the one plus 8 pro but all the screen issues scare me. Would you guys but it again given your time over our would you avoid it? I am also looking at the oppo find X2 pro but I don't know much about oppo and how good they are at updating their phones
Me, along with 3 friends, got the BA version at release. None of us have the screen issue though. Even if I would have had it, and RMA:d the phone, I would do it again. the phone is too amazing to miss out on! I am rooted however, and none of my friends root their devices. I run Omega kernel and have 0 issues, but all of my 3 friends get the "overheated" message several times a day (I haven't gotten it even once). I would draw the conclusion - If you root and are willing to use custom kernels, go for it! If you want to keep stock, you might aswell want to check for alternatives.
Thanks for that. I have rooted with past phones but Google pay is important to me so haven't been able to root anymore. Saw a few posts in standard 8 forum complaining about NFC payments not working properly. Anyone else seen that?
Difficult question It is a great device with nearly all features I like in a top smartphone, especially the addition of wireless charging suits me fine.
My major gripe is actually with the size of the device, while its thin it feels very large (both in width and height) and I'm not sure I like it for an everyday-carry device.
Plus I sorely feel a lack of communication from OP with regard to some of the initial issues and their status when it comes to OOS - screen, fingerprint....
Presently I am very torn between the OP8Pro and a Mi 10 Pro - both great in their own way, its quite possible the form factor and size will lean towards the Xiaomi in the end.....
To answer directly: no, I most probably wouldn't buy such a large device again..... Would I buy the 8 Pro again, aside from its size but rather its features: yes, anytime !

I use GPay several times a day. All you need to do is enable Magisk Hide and it's all good. If someone has other issues with it, it's probably not root/Magisk-related but something else they tinkered with... My assumption.
On my 6T some public betas weren't CTS verified, thos times I had to use the MagiskHide Props Config module to get it working, but no such issues on 8Pro. But I assume, if they start releaseing betas, this would be the solution once again.
I'd buy again.
Coming from 4 google devices in a row. 6P, 2xl, 3xl and 4xl.
I enjoyed them all and there is definitely something about getting all that google offers first but the 8 pro is far and away a better phone and phone experience.
And, so far, updates have come right on the heels of when google updates their line of phones so that's a great thing so far.
And, as someone said above, you can still have google pay while being rooted.
Also, I've had zero screen issues but there is something going on with wifi that I can't quite put my finger on.
Big yes. the phone is the best of the best and the screen day after day all the green tint and black crush gone.

In a heratbeat! IMO, this is one of the best Android devices to come down the pike in a long time.
Thanks for the replies guys. I have gone ahead and ordered one from Amazon, arrives tomorrow. Chose Amazon as they don't question any returns
Short answer - no.
Longer answer - I've had one for a few days and I've already decided to either return it or sell it on Swappa. My main gripe is the camera. I had seen so many reviews saying Oneplus had finally nailed the camera so I decided to give it a try. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but my camera experience has been hot garbage. Every time I try taking a picture, no matter what the lighting conditions are or the camera mode I'm in, the pictures come out looking awful. I'll tap the shutter button, get the haptic feedback, and then the camera will just hang for a full second before it finally takes the picture. If I'm taking a picture of a still object, in bright lighting, and I make an extra effort to hold my hands as still as possible while all that goes on, then the end result will be about 60% as good as what I can get by just quickly pointing and shooting with my Pixel 4 XL. If the situation is anything less than that absolute ideal, the end result is a blurry smeary overexposed mess.
Before anyone asks, I am updated to the most recent software, I've tried rebooting the phone, doing a factory reset, shooting in all the different camera modes, and adjusting every camera setting there is - none of it has made the quality anything better than mediocre at best to lousy in general.
Yes, this is my daily driver and no looking back! Cheers
I'd do it again. I still go back and forth with my Note 10+ and S20 Ultra, but this is definitely a more bloat free and smoother experience overall. I don't have the green tint issue or the horrible grey's when the screen is super dim but I do have that trailing shadow line that runs next to the camera. But I hardly notice that so no big deal.

Your description sounds as if something is defective with the camera, at least it doesn't fit at all to my experience with the 8 Pro camera ! I did a lot of comparisons between the 8 Pro, an P40 Pro and a Mi 10 Pro - with the main camera all of the three are very comparable, with slight advantages to one or the other in some scenarios....
Now images are always subjective in interpretation, but IMHO the 8 Pro is definitely capable of taking very nice shots in all situations and that without much fiddling ....
I'm not sure I would buy it again, mainly because of the price.
The OP8 Pro is a fantastic device but 900 euros is a lot of money.
OnePlus is gonna release in July a device which is way more affordable, I think it's gonna be a better buy (even if it lacks features)
Yeah I would buy again. I have no blind loyalty to any brand but when I apply my "filters" to the huge list of current phones on the market, only this one remained. When I shop for a phone, I look for the right balance of top specs & mod friendliness, features, parts and price. This time around, the balance wasn't quite as good (price/wireless charging/IP68 rating) and a few other, cheaper phones came close to being the top choice for me.

Most people don't have this issue, problems tend to make more noise than benefits.
The benefits I can assure you completely outweigh the bad on a huge scale..
I have zero issues, I've also never had any issues ever reported, on any of my devices since the G1.
The chances of having these reported problems whilst possible remains extremely small..
Seeing one person getting a couple of dodgy devices in a row does not mean everyone else's devices are the same.
My advice, by it from somewhere where they have a quick swap out capability. A shop, a reputable reseller.
So the timeout if your get that unlucky will be minimal.
You'll have this same problem with any of the other devices you ever decide to buy
No, because it is not a big upgrade or difference from my op7p...
Got my one plus 8 pro today. Screen is lovely. Not seen any issues with it but I haven't gone looking as I am using it like a phone and not at minimum brightness etc. But disappointed to see WiFi calling doesn't work on Vodafone UK, just as well I get great signal anyway
I probably would buy again but the no dual-sim is annoying me more as time passes.
How do you mean, no dual SIM?
Just looking for thoughts and opinions...
I am -very- new to OnePlus and have recently purchased (and returned) my first TWO OnePlus devices. I bought a 7 Pro model on amazon that was supposed to be a Gm1917, but turned out to be a Gm1925 (t-mobile), and returned it. Then I purchased a GM1910 (chinese non-carrier/GSM), but when received that one, was an HD1910 (7t Pro, not a 7 pro... which by the way won't even show up on OnePlus' website if it detects U.S. Ip address). So.. I returned that one too. I really want a One Plus Pro 7 Unlocked / Carrier free but it seems downright impossible to find one that is new. After two failed attempts at getting one, I'm getting disheartened. I specifically chose the OP7Pro because it seems to have everything I want from a post-purchase development side (working TWRP, Magisk, and Official Resurrection Remix Rom), as well as the fact that I already bought screen protectors and a Newendry Battery Case. I loved the camera's Pro functions and just about everything else... so here's my question/s...
Should I just buy the 8 Pro direct from OP and hope that TWRP get's up and running , as well as a Resurrection Remix port? Is the camera functions the same as the 7 Series? (I absolutely love the ability to select separate focal point from an auto-exposure point). Is it reasonable to believe that OP8Pro will indeed get an official or even unofficial but well-working TWRP?
I am so tired of dealing with misrepresented phones on Amazon, but from what I've read, Oneplus has no intent of producing more OnePlus 7 Pros and since they are all out of stock, it seems my only option is to keep playing Buy-and-return games with amazon and ebay until I actually get a phone that actually matches its listing, or to just buy a OnePlus 8 Pro.
Thoughts?
(Sorry if this is in the wrong place... feel free to scold and educate me if so.)
I would say the 8 Pro for the win! Had mine since launch and it's best device I've had. It's ultimately your call... Cheers
Go with oneplus 8 pro . I love mine. And I have latest greatest even after 8t. Still better option . I bought mine amazon .....unlocked and u will be able to twrp . Magisk etc ..
I'm with the above people... The OP8pro is a winner.
Yep, OP8P is great, I'm enjoying every minute using it.
It's fast, smooth and offers good battery life
Good luck
Don’t mean to hijack this thread but the in2025 is the USA all bands supported model dual sim unlocked right ?
8 Pro. Period.
Only thing to pay attention is model for the region you live in.
Try Swappa. Check seller ratings before purchasing too.
Well, seems to be a pretty clear cut decision for everyone. So I pulled the trigger on the OP 8Pro.
I bought direct from OnePlus this time so no false-title shenanigans. I did check swappa as well as a few other re-sell sights for the 7 pro first, as suggested, but most of the ones I found admitted to having slight burn-in at the top so.. the 8 it is. Should be receiving it today. Thanks for all your input everyone!
Had the 8 pro it's a great device, if you want a better camera though go with another phone, great all round device though

Nice to hear, I hope you're enjoying it mate, don't forget to share your experience
Well... Initial impressions...
I prefer the pop-up camera on the 7 more than the screen built in 8... That little black hole distracts the everliving bawhoosits out of me on the status bar... Buuuut... I can easily remedy the status bar placement with a few different xposed modules if it really bugs me later.
One thing I really like is fingerprint sensor. Seems much more accurate (or maybe inaccurate?) than the 7. That is to say, it actually registers my finger without me having to press it 4 times.

Download energy ring, it's on the play store, then remove the battery icon. I couldn't have this phone without it.
Free app btw..thread in the themes section.
Finger print is superb.
Is it still worth buying right now? Talking about the camera (versus P40 PRO or similar). I'm especially interested in the camera. Then , screen, batter. I know screen is amazing.
Price tag would be 850 USD
People say that camera is better on P40 Pro. The new 8T is not better then 8 pro. Is better then 8.
The OnePlus 8 Pro has some pretty bad WiFi / Bluetooth interference issues that are somewhat (though not fully) resolved in Android 11. So if you rely on VOWiFi calling with a bluetooth headset, this is not a good phone for you. Some of these may be related to the Qualcomm SOC / hardware and may not be fixable
Also if you search the site, you will see many comparisons of people getting all around better wireless speeds on the 7 Pro or even 6 series or other phones because of these issues.
I have kept mine, but I also kept my OP7Pro and have had to use it in cases where the OnePLus 8 wouldn't do VOWiFi (voice cutting in and out).
Also someone asked about dual SIM -- in the USA, I believe you need the Android 11 beta to use this. I have not tested it, but saw tons of people griping about it.
I am hoping the official Android 11 build fixes the remaining WiFi/Bluetooth issues, otherwise I am going back to OP7 Pro.
Everything else about the OP8 Pro is very nice.
Yes, you should.
