Don't universities send a settings file you can use for Eduroam?
I have a Galaxy A40 and I have connected to Eduroam without issues. I just removed the authentication and it went straight to connectin.

Hi, I posted in q and a forum bit desperate for a solution as I'm stuck on a train for 4 hrs with no,connection.
I have flashes the Gingerblur rom. 6.5 which gives me the free tethering apn. I selected it but don't know what else I need to do to make it work.
Do I need to select a specific usb connection? Does it need wifi enabled? If someone can please help point me in the right direction.... i know this isn't very complicated I am new to android and hard for me to find the answer from the phone
this is what I do, not sure if it'll work for you but you can give it a try.
Enable Mobile Hotspot
Then, goto .. Settings -> Wireless and Network Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> ATT Free Tether (or whatever teh APN is named in Gingerblur, mines is from aRoot so its labeled ATT Free Tether)
Select ATT Free Tether, and you should be able to edit it. DONT EDIT ANYTHING. Just save it (options button, save) then exit it. ... mobile hotspot should activate shortly
Hey that seems like it works for me... the mobile hotspot icon turned from red to blue. But still no Internet on the lappy.
Does it need to be using wifi or will it work with the data connex?
Is there a specific usb setting i need
Thanks very much
does your laptop have wifi? You have to connect to your phone using wifi.
Also -- you should make a password for your hotspot. Go into mobile hotspot settings, and then wifi hotspot settings, and then configure your hotspot.
there you should see the name (Network SSID) if your hotspot. Set a password, and then using your laptop, scan for the wireless networks available, click on your hotspot, and plug in your password.
should be all set from there.
hey it worked! thanks so much, i was trying to connect using my usb connection...as this was how i did it on my old WM phone.
Not sure if i can make it work with the pwd, but for now i'm up and running with an open connection.
Thank you thank you!
Hello,
The Wifi seems to be freezing/stuck on first use. This is strange for me
When I set the WiFi ON, it list the available networks very quickly and when I select the network and click on Connect and provide pass it try to connect and freeze. If I hit back button it stuck. If I hit advance It open the screen.
Sometime I need to restart the device. And after restart I see the WiFi switch is ON mode and I have make that OFF and ON again and all works fine.
I use 29017 SYS for my Topaz/Diamond2 device and below WiFi related packages:
CM Wifi Advanced v1.0.7.0
CM Wifi Enroll
CM Wifi Information
CM Wifi IP v1.0.4.1
Comm Manager v2.10.9.0
WAG Settings v1.0.1.1
Wi Fi Settings v1.2.5.4
Wi-Fi Wizard v1.47.5.0
WLAN Settings v2.7.10.1
Can you please advice what could be the issue?
Additional Note: The WiFi router in my room is WiFi N Router running in dual mode and has support to B and G too.
Thanks.
Another thing I have observed is:
If I directly go to Advanced - WiFi Wizard and connect it works fine without any delay .
But wondering why the delay/lagging when using normal screen of the Communication Manager?
Thanks.
You might want to swap different CM-Packages. Not all of them work on every device. After I found one for myself (SE Xperia X1) I never updated it
May be I will try swapping the packages...
Thanks.
I would suggest try TP2 or Leo wifi pkgs...yes not all wifi works on all devices...
I dont see any issue with the packages here, as when I connect using Advanced mode which work perfect without any issue and is very quick.
The basic / default mode (when done directly from Settings - Wireless connection screen) causes delay and some time restart. But after restart it does work. This is only to WiFi N routers. Also I know TD2 does not have N standard, but the WiFi N Router has B and G enabled.
In Advanced mode I use below settings:
Authentication: WPA2-PSK
Data Encryption: AES
So I think may be the default mode trying to use some other settings to establish the connection
Thanks.
Hello,
I've already searched the forum for an answer but I've been unable to find any solution.
I have a GT-i9505 Galaxy S4 with Omega ROM. I though flashing a new rom will help me but it's the same.
Everytime I walk away from my router, it automatically sets the wifi as "Network disabled because internet connection is slow" and won't connect again. I have to manually click connect to force it to connect it. Also, when I'm in my University, it keeps disconnecting for the same.
How can I avoid this and force it to stay connected? Do I need to flash some custom modem or something?
Thanks

TRY THESE STEPS
1) Settings => Connections and tap Wi-Fi. Then tap Menu and make sure Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always.
2) Turn off Wi-Fi power save mode on your S4. Type *#0011# on the phone dialer, then Menu => Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi power save mode to Off. (WORKED FOR ME)
3) Or change your router settings to 802.11 model
Galaxy S4 wifi non-connection/drop out NEW FIX
Had a problem for ages with my S4 not connecting to wifi and therefore no internet, no updates etc. My router is a Netcomm NB6Plus4Wn but this may work with most routers.
It would constantly go through the authentication, secured/saved cycle but rarely actually got an ip address.
After trial and error I found this worked straight away and it is a very easy fix.
Go to your router settings page, then wireless settings, look for Primary Channel setting.
There may be a (Lower/Upper selection) - tick the LOWER radio button and apply changes. Let router reboot.
Note I also use WPA/TKIP settings for security.
Test your S4.
Mine was set to Upper Primary Channel previously and as soon as I changed that setting to Lower Channel wifi and internet worked immediately.
I hope this helps some people with this common problem as I know how frustrating it can be.
Cheers
wifi verification problem
galaxy s4 GT-I9500 running pac-man rom. just started getting verification problem connecting to my linksys router one foot from my phone.
did the following on my phone: settings, Wi-Fi, settings, wps pin entry, msg reads " enter pin xxxxxxxxxx on your Wi-Fi router." where xxxxxxxxx is a number.
logged on to my router, clicked on Wi-Fi tab, under Wi-Fi protected setup, it asked me to enter the wps pin number from my phone. I did and after a minute or so, it indicated success and now my phone connects to Wi-Fi
weird. my phone connected for months without this procedure but just started failing today. thanks to the one who suggested checking the router setup.

I recently ran into the same problem and my wi-fi button wouldn't come on no matter what I did. Finally, I took the phone to Best buy as the now have a Samsung store there and the guy reflashed my phone with the 4.3 update free of charge and it worked. When I got home I rooted over my phone and now my wifi works fine. Hope this helps.

mac adress unavailable HELP
so i rotted my s4 gt9500 and somehow it managed to lose it's mac adress says unavailable at the moment unfortunately i have no efs backup so iam on a stalemate here i really need to get back my mac adress somehow so that the wi fi works again properly.any help you really be appreciated.
p.s the phone does not work on a custom rom yet since i encoutered this problem and want to fix it first.
hello,
i have the following problem with wifi on my zopo zp 700: it connects to our home- wifi, but only grey connectifity stripes, not the blue ones i get usually. it says "connected" but internet doesnt work.
when im at work the wifi works fine.
i started the dignostic tool by dialing*#*#4636#*#* and found out that there are 2 configured versions of our home wifi there, one with keymgmt (ID9) and one without (ID10).
it seems that the phone connects to the wifi without kegmt and this causes the problem. when i disable the network with ID10 (the one without keymgmt) it works until i switch off the wifi and on again. then the network with ID10 (and all others that i had disabled before are enabled again)
as there are several other networks that i dont know but seem configured in this list, i wanted to know how i diable or delete these unwanted networks from the list of configured wifis?
thx in advantage and best regards,
nick
Try to factory reset your wifi or gateway
Sent from my GT-I9105P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
How do you do that? I opende the engineer mode but did only find different testing modes for wifi..
Reset button or something like that on your wifi device. Let use them to reset to factory
Make an hard reset :good:
This might be a stupid idea, but can you not just go into Wifi settings, pick your home network name, and select 'Forget'?
Make sure you forget all you want it to forget (i dunno if it will list it twice or not)...
Then re-do the settings with correct password...fixed?!?
You should check if you get an ip address from your wifi router.
Hall,
I got a TM530, rooted with Towelroot, no modifications otherwise.
When trying to connect to phone's WiFi Hotspot im getting asked for the password, after entering it there's the message "Connecting..." for a second or so - but I won't get a connection [emoji17]
A few days ago this was no problem - I'm a bit lost here.
My phone's running with Slimkat ROM with two weeks old weekly build, didn't change anything there, too.
Changing Hotspot setup and deleting the connection from WiFi menu on the tablet led to no success either ?
Any hints anyone? I'd appreciate

Pretty common problem tethering from a phone to tablet with the native tether method due to its lack of settings. Download the app WIFItether Router by Fabio Grasso. When you set it up, under "hotspot/tethering settings" make your SSID whatever you desire, use wpa2-psk for encryption type, then set a password, and desired channel (I usually use 11). Then under "device settings" for Interface select wlan1, under method use Method 3-HostApd, under drivers select nl80211, select WiFi -g for wifi mode. Then under "tweaks" check MTU adjust and also check HostApd patch. Now go back and select "enable wifi router". That should solve your issue.
