Anyone out there willing to help guide me through the process of getting the retail mode removed form a samsung galaxy s5? Of course Im willing to compensate you for your time if we can get it to work.
Ive got no experience with Rom's and or installing a rom and the basic passwords have not worked on getting the software removed. Any help would be appreciated.
PhoneDoctor1
Which S5 model have you got?
Make a free account on sammobile dot com (Links are not allowed here)
Type your model S5 into the firmware section and download a ROM
Grab ODIN 3.09 or later (Easy to find with a quick google)
Extract the ROM from the zip, should end up with .MD5 file
Install Samsung drivers (Easy to find with a quick google or Installing KIES3 will also install them)
Put phone into download mode (Power off, then hold Vol down & Home & power, release when the warning appears and hit volume up when asked)
Connect phone to PC USB and wait for drivers to complete installing
Load .MD5 ROM into AP or PDA section of ODIN
Make sure only 'F.Reset Time' and 'Auto Reboot' options are selected in ODIN
Hit START on ODIN and wait for it to complete
All being well, your phone should reboot into the ROM, take a while for first boot, especially if you flash a Lollipop ROM (give it 15 mins+)
Some people find it hangs on first boot, and need to boot into recovery mode and factory reset after flashing the ROM
Same results.
*Detection* Thank you so much for your prompt response and help with this. Unfortunately the steps you provided didn't work for me. I was able to Get Odin, download the correct ROM, drivers, and everything. I installed the ROM on the phone (Took 4 minutes) though ODIN and it stated that it succeeded. Phone restarted and retail mode was back on the phone.
Any other options to get it removed?

Some instructions here on how to disable retail mode
http://www.naldotech.com/how-to-disable-exit-galaxy-s5-demo-live-unit-retail-mode/
How to delete, disable and exit Demo Live Unit Retail Mode on the Samsung Galaxy S5
1. The first thing to do is to disable the retail mode of the firmware.
2. Go to the app drawer and open an app called Samsung Retail.
3. Go to Configuration Settings and enter the password 5444 to unlock it.
4. Then uncheck “Disable the factory reset” and enter the following password M729Q16K8546.
5. Turn your Samsung Galaxy S5 off and boot into Recovery.
6. Go to Wipe data & factory reset and press OK.
7. The phone will reset and all the applications will get removed.
8. Flash a stock firmware with ODIN (tutorial).
There must be something different about this retail mode. It looks different than the others shown in previous posts or youtube videos. I can't seem to disable the app and the passwords don't work. Ive seen a few youtube videos on how to remove it and the one I see doesn't look like the one thats on this galaxy s5. Any other workaround to your knowledge?
PhoneDoctor1
Not that I know of off hand, I`ll post back here if I find anything, it might be quicker to take it to a phone shop and ask them to disable it for you

Which version S5 have you got?
Just noticed this thread for the G900X to disable Retail Mode
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733083
Ive got the t-mobil version here in the states. I did see that thread before I posted mine but that wont enable me to make calls. It will most likely turn the phone into a wifi capable phone without cell service.
Sorry, I meant which model S5, mine is the G900F
I take it you bought the phone second hand? Unless someone else can help I think taking it in for repair would be the best bet if those tutorials are not working
I would like to know how you got into retail mode!
And, of course, your model. Its in the system informations.
I had a similar issue with a laptop once (purchased the display model).....
The only thing that fixed it was formatting the hard drive and re installing everything from the recovery discs......
I guess the equivalent for Android would be to flash a PIT file (I think this will reformat the memory) then the firmware (both) with odin........
If you DO go this route, be EXTREMELY careful to flash the CORRECT pit file as flashing the wrong pit will irrevocably brick your phone.........
Sent from my rooted kn0x0 stocKK SM-G900F S5
I appreciate the help and responses. From my understanding the retail mode can not be removed. It seems that Samsung specially designed these phones with software that can't just easily be flashed.
Successfully removed Retail Mode from AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A

I had just about given up on a straightforward fix, and was about to resort to some major firmware manipulation that would have likely led me to all sorts of confusion. It turns out the password was "rethink" as is listed in multiple places across the web. (AT&T SM-G900A Galaxy S 5) It is applied to the Samsung Retail Mode app which has a "burger" icon in top right corner of the screen that must be selected first to lead towards password entry. This is not the "Retail Experience" app, but the other similar one. Once the Retail Mode app is uninstalled, there are intuitive steps leading to uninstalling of the "Retail Experience" one next, with no new passwords.
Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to read and respond
I got a Verizon sm-g930v Galaxy s7 and my service is through T-Mobile.
I currently have Verizons very recent nougat 7 release with security patch of February 1, 2017 and baseband G930VVRU4BQA2.
I have 2 issues which might be related and I'm trying to figure out what's the best way to do it and if it is at all possible.
1) my lte speed is crap and service inside buildings is awful. I read that there are ways to unlock the bootloader but couldn't find how to do it on my phone.
2) no ussd codes work even after factory reset, every single ussd code I put (even the one to view imei) says ussd running and then says connection problem or invalid mmi.
Is it possible to flash T-Mobile nougat firmware on my phone? Will it unlock the bootloader to allow me to unlock all lte bands?
Is there another better way to solve the above issues?
Thanks for your help!

Thank you

1. find/download the firmware you want to install on your phone (can find at updato.com)
2. extract the files from the firmware file to a folder
3. download/install Samsung Smart Switch
4. backup your phone settings with Samsung Smart Switch (if you have a memory card, maybe be good to remove that and back it up on PC, probably faster this way than thru Samsung Smart Switch)
5. install the latest version of Odin on your PC, open it
6. select BL/AP/CP/CSC buttons then select the matching file (BL for BL_xyz file, etc) - if you use the HOME_CSC file you will NOT have any tmobile specific features (Wifi Calling) enabled/appear, you must use the regular CSC file to add/enable these features
7. in Odin, select OPTIONS and make sure that only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are checked
8. put the galaxy s7 phone in download mode (turn off....while off press VolumeDown+Home+Power until a blue screen appears, press VolumeUp button to enter download mode)
9. connect the galaxy s7 phone to the PC (you should see a blue icon appear under ID:COM afterward)
10. hit START in Odin to begin the process
11. when the process is complete (PASS appears in Odin status window) the galaxy s7 will reboot and begin to install the update
ISSUE - if the phone boots to recovery mode, dm-verity verification failed....DO NOT PANIC....simply put the phone back in download mode, connect it to the PC, and in Odin ONLY select the AP file....install only that file and let the device restart, it should boot to the user menu)
NOTES - while the device is booting to the user menu, it may sit at the Tmobile splash screen an extended amount of time the initial time - please let it sit for a few minutes, and it will boot to the user menu (subsequent restarts don't have a long delay at Tmobile screen)
12. after it boots to the user menu, connect the galaxy s7 to the PC, and restore the phone using Samsung Smart Switch

Well... no bootloader unlock to free lte bands, and give a try on this rom to find if you can use your lte bands
There is a thread here related to your issue

Thank you, I finally got to doing it. It was easy and I now have T-mobile OS on the phone, all Verizon stuff is gone and USSD codes now working. It seems like I was able to select all LTE bands, speed is a bit better indoors but not amazing.
Is there a reason to fully root the phone? and can someone explain what benefits would I have from rooting at this point?

Rooting gives you full control over the phone. Think Windows "Administrator" account.
Some things that a rooted phone can do is fully disable and uninstall stock & carrier Bloatware, install true ad blocking services, firewall control.
But, with that kind of power, it's way easier to brick your phone, or kill the performance of the device if you start changing things that shouldn't be changed.
Thank you

This is an old thread, so I am hoping on some newer information. I have been using a Verizon Galaxy S7 on T-Mobil for about a year. This past week we were in the Lake Michigan area and I found that my wife's A21 got much better reception in several areas. I have been reading here about the g930U firmware as well as the ability to flash to the current T-Mobile ROM.
I do not need to revert back to Verizon, but I need wifi calling and all the bands that are available from T-Mobile. Can just flashing to the T-Mobile for Android 8 work for me?

Hi,
I have a Verizon S7 and I want to permanently use it in Europe, France specifically.
I put a French SIM in and can place calls, but internet did not initially work, however, I did not try to change APN settings.
My question is, is there a specific firmware I can download that will put the latest updates on there and allow future updating on a non-Verizon network? If so, which firmware would that be? I'd prefer to have all Verizon stuff removed, too.
Finally, by default, French is not in language support, but I'd like to add that, if possible.
You can flash firmware from G930U model that is unlocked version for US
Thanks. Do I need to set boot pin or anything? I saw some threads saying you have to set boot pass or pin before you flash.
Also, will there be a way to do system updates? I mean, like updating to nougat?
Hello,
i'm in the same situation than you.
Please, can anyone provideme a link to the exact rom to flash in this moment (i found broken links and obsolete roms)
If I understand correctly this is that I need to do:
1-install samsung drivers and Odin 3.12
2-Flash rom g930u(need your help to provide me) without modifying any odin settings
3-Enjoy
this is ok?
Many thanks

hey @H0wdy, i know this is a month late but here goes:
This is what I would do if you were you
-download and extract the zip I attached on a link at the bottom, extract it, and open up Samfirm program, plug in your phone in download mode i believe please double check the original linked thread (hold volume down + home + power for 7 seconds ) put in your phone model SM-G930V and put XAA as region
-next it will search for the latest international update for your phone and click download, (make sure auto decrypt is on) this take a little while to download and then decrypt, but you should end up with a zip file on your desktop containing G930U files (which i happened to upload for you anyhow, but if case you dont want to download the uiversal rom, i uploaded one for you if you wish to use that. If you wanted to do it the safe way instead of using my older Uinversal firmware, I would follow above instructions.
Next open Odin, click BL find the appropriate BL file, click CSC find that file and select, as well as the other two with AP being last make sure to use OYM CSC not HOME.
- then simply boot phone into download mode: hold Power volume- and home upon restart and it should get you into bootloader. click UP, and if your phone is recognized by your computer go ahead and flash your new universal rom.
It has NO verizon bloat and more features such as Wifi calling and Video chat phone calls!
anyway if you need more help refer to this link here if you need help with this software. I found it incredibly straight forward.
you will be able to choose French upon setup of your phone.

Hey guys,
I just got a used S8+. Upon booting up it was a clean factory reset. I went forward with the setup.
When i open up Samsung Pay i get the "samsung pay access to samsung pay has been denied...." msg.
This phone is not rooted, i have downloaded a root check and comes back as false.
The person who had the phone never rooted the phone.
And i also get this notification " Security Notice, unauthorized actions have been detected..."
Anyone know what could be wrong with it?
go into download mode, and see there if knox has been tripped. also can you use secure folder?
I had a similiar issue (KNOX not tripped). Just downloaded stock Odin ROM, flashed it and everything worked again.
This is what i get when in download mode?
Ill test Secure Folder now...brb
This is what i get when secure folder is launched.
Secure folder cannot be set up because unauthorized software was installed on the device.

In Odin use HOME_CSC for CSC field, to keep your data.

Yes, it is alway best to flash all files, but if you don't mind loosing your data, you can flash CSC_* package in place of CSC, to also repartition your phone and start fresh. But if you want to keep your data, you can flash the HOME_CSC_* package instead.
Just tried it with all the files and i get this.
I am so lost i am about to pull my hair out...

Hi!
You can say how please?
Thanks!
Warning: Do this at your own risk, I am not responsible for any damage that is caused to your device. This method worked for me and should work for everyone.
Credit to yakapa40 on XDA for the apk. This would be impossible without him!
You must make sure the model numbers are the same for the country you want to change to. To check that go to
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/recent/
and type in your device model number. leave country code blank. The countries that are listed are those that will work on your specific device. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER COUNTRY!
MAKE sure device has above 70% battery just to be safe
OK lets start!
Backup all your data on samsung cloud and google
This will **erase** all your data
Download samsung drivers
https://www.hardreset.info/download/samsung-drivers/
Check the CSC code you want from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546689 credit to Jasi2169
Important later
download the firmware you want from sammobile (slow download speed) or
https://samfw.com/ for faster download speeds.
It will be a zip file so use winrar to extract and you should get 5 files that start with
AP (System &Recovery)
BL (Bootloader)
CP (Modem / Radio)
CSC\_ (Country / Region / Operator)
HOME\_CSC (Country / Region / Operator)
DELETE the home file
Next download Odin
https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.4.zip
Extract the Odin file and run as administrator
Add each file to its respective field in Odin
Now we need to put the phone in download mode to do that go to:
https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-galaxy-a51/download-mode/
keep trying until it works.
Next plug the device in and press start. It should take about 3-4 mins for odin to say PASS
DO NOT UNPLUG THE PHONE AT ANY POINT EVEN AFTER ODIN SAYS PASS
Let the phone do its thing and dont worry if it takes too long on the Samsung screen.
You should then be greeted with the welcome screen BUT it may not be the correct language so set it to English (I flashed UK firmware and it came in Russian)
Set the phone up but dont worry about apps we are going to reset the phone again
Head over to (APK provided by yakapa40)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hU3vl_V7NsRgI_RsQywytORoB8isJ1ni/view?usp=sharing
on your device or PC and download it. Extract and it should be a apk file. Download it with your device.
Allow unknown sources and it should says done and not open (that is normal)
put you device in flight mode/airplane mode
hold down the home screen and go to themes
Galaxy themes
My stuff
Select mysterious theme(make sure not to click update)
Select try it out
Go to Settings
About phone
Legal information
Change Carrier or whatever third option is (the one that says android 10)
Choose and install the CSC you want (that 3 letter code) remove sim and it will restart phone
again, dont worry if its on the Samsung screen for too long.
You should be back on the welcome screen and you are done!!!
Set up the phone and enjoy!!!
Credit to yakapa40 again on XDA for the apk. This would be impossible without him!

No. I think there was some problem with THAT update....because after further updates it started working again...

Sounds like very thing works fine now on your phone? How s that call recording func ,works as expected with Bluetooth headphones connected as well ? What about caller id ,assume since region has changed It won't gonna detect correct local numbers,am I right? Thanks for sharing!
Nono, everything about calls (and recording) works perfectly, with headphones, too
