In the past week, I have tried navigating the menu systems for two different organizations, and my keypress choices are not recognized. The menu system either just repeats the options or times out and hangs up..
Anyone else seeing this? Had the problem today with the 9.0.16, had the same problem this past Saturday with whatever the previous release was.
Thought it may be a problem with the dialer app, so today I installed another phone app but the problem persisted.

I noticed this today (although it may have happened after installing some peice of software over the last couple of days. When I click on the keyboard it shows right away... but if I click on the arrow next to the keyboard to choose my input method it takes about 10 seconds before that little window pops up. I don't remember it being like this from a fresh OS with nothing installed.
I actually notice this after installing "nullkb.ARM4.CAB" which is a program that adds itself to that list of input methods. You can then choose it and the auto keyboard won't pop up all the time when you don't want to enter data. Works great.. but I'd sometimes like to be able to use that keyboard. I'd like to be able to open the options, change it from nullkb to keyboard, type, then reverse it back to nullkb.
Anyways, I uninstalled and soft reset the phone and the problem still persists. I reinstalled and it's still there as well. Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?
Yep, it's a known (and common) problem. From what I can tell from reading around the 'net is that as soon as the SIP menu is modified in any sort of way, the menu becomes slow to display. Mine takes up to 17-20 secs to display. I did a hard reset last week and the menu became quick to respond. However, when I restored from my backup, the menu became slow again. I didn't want to re-configure and re-install again so I kept my restore.
I rebooted my phone earlier today. However, I had a very hard time entering my PIN. Apparently, the touchscreen's calibration was entirely messed up. I don't mean that my selections triggered action at a fixed point relative to my actual finger input, it was just seemingly random. Touching 2 triggered 6 and touching the "Emergency" button triggered 1.
I wanted to see whether it was a ROM problem or whether my actual touchscreen was messed up so I made a nandroid backup and flashed a different ROM. Everything worked flawlessly. Then I reverted back to the nandroid backup and obviously the problem was there again.
After a while I managed to enter the PIN and navigated to the touchscreen calibration tool with the buttons. Now the touchscreen works again but I discovered that the Window Animation setting was altered as well. Additionally, I noticed that the "SIM card changed" notification doesn't appear anymore after I boot up, which used to happen before.
That brings us to my question: is the ROM (stock HTC 1.6, rooted) messed up? Why did the settings randomly change and do you think there are more settings that messed up? Will it keep working in the future or will it happen again?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance!
That's strange. It could be a rom problem. But maybe the settings changed while you had the phone in your pocket. If push menu twice in 1 minute the screen turns on and anything can happen then. If it happens again I would flash again stock rom or another.
Thanks for the reply. It hasn't happened anymore, and I hope it never will.
I'm having an odd problem, and wanted to see if anyone has experienced it.
My Evo was replaced by Sprint when it started randomly rebooting multiple times a day. The problem I am having never happened on the old phone, although given the nature of it, it seems odd to be a hardware defect.
Basically, whenever you engage Car Mode, either by running the car dock app manually, or by dropping the phone into the dock, the menu button stops working on the dialer screen.
By dialer screen, I mean both the dialer and the in-call screen, which I believe are part of the same apk. If you hit the Evo's Menu button, it vibrates as usual, but the menu does not appear. If I pull it from the dock or exit car mode, it reonsumes working as usual. It does not affect the menu button on any other application.
I have tried re-flashing rooted stock, flashing MikG GB Sense, Swagged out Stock. I have repeatedly wiped everything before and after flashes. I test it each time without installing anything else, so it's not caused by apps I've installed, unless the wipe process has left something laying around that will not go away.
I have googled the web, as well as searching this site. I can't find anyone else who has reported this issue.
Has anyone seen this, or have any ideas on solving it?
I'll add that I tried flashing a rooted stock, and then taking my SD card out, just to make sure there was nothing loading from the SD card. Same issue with the menu button.
I've been running Phoenix ROM v7.3 on my I9505 for a few months now. In the last couple of days it's started acting strangely...yesterday the home button stopped responding (it would turn on the screen, but nothing else). I tried rebooting a couple of times but it didn't help.I also noticed that some of my sound settings had changed without any intervention from me - phone ringtone, notification sounds, sounds when touching the screen. This morning I ran Titanium Backup and it told me that my device id had changed, and asked if I wanted to restore my previous id (which is what it did when I first flashed the ROM a few months ago). I answered "yes" to this, and let the phone reboot, and now my home button seems to be working again.
I know the obvious thing to do is wipe and reflash, but does anyone know why this sort of thing happens?
I searched for this a lot, and found a lot of people experiencing similar things but not exactly what I happen to have. So here is what happens:
1. first screen freezes and you can't touch anything (icons, nav keys)
2. ghost touches start (as if someone touches screen quickly in lots of places), and this causes apps to start at random, numbers are dialed, random strings of characters are being input, etc.
The only thing I can do is to turn off screen, then turn back on and it will unfreeze the screen, and stop ghost touches for a few moments. It will not stop randomly dialed calls so I often have explaining to do to a lot of people why I have called them. In short it's a nightmare. My phone is practically unusable.
It all started just a week ago. I did a factory reset back to the same custom rom - helped for 2 days, and then problem came back. I wiped everything (including internal memory), and flashed a different custom rom - problem appeared within 10 minutes of starting the phone. Both were 5.1 custom roms. Has anyone had this happen?
I found out it can be either faulty screen or battery, but I have no idea how to determine which. I do not want to try replacing one after the other. Is there a way to figure out the cause of the problem?
I will try to take a video of what happens.
