I have a G2 running Cyanogen 6.1.1 with pershoots latest kernel and when I enter a AT&T roaming area my phone crashes and reboots itself. God forbid I try and use google maps or places. I noticed if I uncheck the "national data roaming" the phone operates as normal but ofcourse I don't have any kind of data access.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior?
Does this happen with the stock rom? I wouldn't know because I been running cyanogen from day 1.
The phone has some serious issues when roaming. Even after I came back to the home service area I had no signal at all until I reboot the phone.
Due to buisiness I am going to be in that area a lot and really need my phone to work.

I live in Maine, and this is a valuable feature when we travel inland. Has always worked flawlessly on BB, MT3G and HD2. My boyfriend's Vibrant picks up ATT and Unicel without issue. Unfortunately, I was unable to connect to another network (voice and data were nil) on the stock rom, and I had to go airplane mode to get signal back when I knew I was back in the TMo area. Haven't tried it on CM yet, but pisses me off to no end that a Vibrant gets better signal and service than my G2. (And that a necessary service for our area doesn't work as it should)

When I'm on stock (d80020k) 4.4.2 I get nearly excellent (4-5 bars) 4g data performance. However, when I try any custom rom, my bars always show "R" which I believe is roaming by them. I'm currently on Mahdi rom with the d800 patch. When I go back to stock using the twrp backup, everything works fine again. Can anyone help me as I'd really like to stay on a custom rom. My Sim card is for a T-Mobile mvno called lycamobile. My phone is unlocked so it should be working. I have a speculation that this might be because of my service provider.
No one wants to shed some light on this? This didn't work on jellybean and Kitkat, both being different devices on the same provider.
Update: My provider says that on some devices, it shows that it's roaming on it's own network, and for that reason, roaming is the same price as regular. However, I don't yet understand why it doesn't show roaming and works fine on stock, yet always, always roams on aosp/cm. However, I'm terribly confused why It roams on aosp/cm. I tried changing network operator to Lycamobile, still roaming. I found out that the roaming "R" is completely cosmetic, as I can make and receive calls, make and receive texts, and use data. Is there any mods to replace the R with like 4g lte or something? It really bugs me when I can't see the speed of data when I'm using it.
Every time if by some reason I loose signal (using and elevator, going in an underground parking, etc) it takes a very long time to get it back. Sometimes several minutes which is really annoying. Most times it set on E, then I have to go to airplane mode of other tricks in order to get it to LTE or H+. I've already change Sim card. Any ideas?

It's a bug, till google fixes it, use the airplane mode switch.
Also have the same problem on Verizon in the US.
Yep I just always toggle Airplane Mode in this situation.
Does the same for Sprint.
I don't lose signal. I do somehow switch to 3g from LTE but from what I've read that's a mmb29q mm bug. Never taken me several minutes to do anything on my device. Only thing I do notice is sometimes I get on 3g and I can get back LTE if i update my prl (I'm on Sprint) and reboot. This is a mm bug not carrier spacific from all I've read.

This has happened since eclair, if not earlier, and seems to be inconsistent over networks and devices. I've found it happen most often in places with overlapping cell towers with poor signal quality.
However, if you enable developer settings there are toggles for aggressive handover and maintaining mobile data with WiFi that may help to alleviate your issue.
Ok, so I switched to Cricket a while back from Verizon. I didn't notice the data drops on Verizon. But every aosp rom I've run has had some jank to some extent. Cm13 gives me the best connectivity, period, as far as wifi and data, speeds, etc. My favorite rom is screwd. It's the worst for me with lte and wifi drops. My phone won't stay on either one for an extended period of time and doesn't handoff to lte very well. What I've noticed, after reboot, is that aosp roms aren't selecting your APN and you have to manually hit that. Then sometimes, for me anyways, I have switch to 2g (the switch where the lte preferred is) then switch back to lte preferred. And that switch brings back lte faster than anything for me. Cm 13 is flawless though. It works like it should.

Ok , so did you all see post # 237 from Jason J in this thread: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=197102#c273 ?
Its been a week of continuous LTE. Running 6.0.1 build MMB29M from the factory. did not do any updates. no issues.

I'm going to try this. I'm presently running with sytsemless root. Is it possible to load this without having to completely wipe the phone?

I have recently gotten a new data plan (before I had like 500MB so I didn't even bother with using mobile data) and started using mobile data a lot more. I have found however that when I get 3G signal (it displays 3G in the status bar) no data actually gets transmitted, and I have to keep going until it connects to 4G or H for it to work again.
What can be the issue? I'm on EE, running the latest Pure Nexus ROM and ElementalX kernel with the Amanuensis profile. Thanks!

Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have xiomi redmi note 4 and I am using custom ROM in it. Every thing is working fine except mobile networks are dropping down.
Previously I have used MIUI 9.2 and after that I have flashed up to 10 custom ROMs and tested them thoroughly. All custom ROMs are being failed in keeping mobile networks in good condition but MIUI os never failed in keeping mobile networks in good condition.
First I have tried resurrection remix 5.0 and 6.0 and the fact is that both failed and even worst in keeping mobile networks in good condition. After that I have tried line age os 14.1 and 15.1 and both of them are better than resurrection remix. After that I have tried dirty unicorn and it is also better than resurrection remix. Finally I have tried AOKP custom ROM and it is the best in keeping mobile networks in good condition but unfortunately aokp team stopped doing work on my device ie., redmi note 4 aka mido.
All the custom ROMs exhibit the following behavior
1) when I turn on the device it shows that I am connected to 4g LTE network.
2) After sometime the network switches to hspa and after sometime switches to edge.
3) Sometimes very rarely the device shows that no mobile networks found.
I have the habit of browsing web and downloading files and all the custom ROMs exhibit the following behavior.
1) At first I start to download a file of size 150 mb using download manager like ADM ( advanced download manager ) and at this stage I am able to see LTE I mean the device is connected to 4g LTE network. At this stage download speed is from 150 kbps to 500 kbps and even sometimes 1.5 mbps.
2) After sometime the mobile network switches to hspa and after that switches to edge network and download speed reduces to 5 kbps.
3) Sometimes very rarely the device shows that no mobile network found. At this stage download fails abruptly.
4) ADM has the option to pause and resume download if no mobile network found up to 1.5 minutes and so the most of downloads succeed.
5) I frequently checks every three minutes whether there is proper connection like LTE and if I found edge network I make a phone call to someone and after that the mobile network switches from edge network to LTE.
Upon examining the above scenario in order to download something I must frequently check whether there is proper connection like LTE and if not I must call someone so that the mobile network is switched back to LTE network.
I have illustrated the above scenarios without moving to other place I mean standing at the same place.
What I am expecting is my mobile must always be connected to LTE and if not h+ or hspa and less preference must be given to edge network.
At present I am using AOKP with android version 7.1.2.
Is there any firmware in order to scan mobile networks regularly in background and keep connected to LTE. If there is no firmware at least is there any application in order to scan mobile networks regularly in background and keep connected to LTE.
Regards,
Rupesh.
