Is it possible to print via USB without root using the current generation Kindle Fires?
Apologies if this has already been asked, I'm using the XDA app and can't find a way to search this just forum.

Unlikely,
Which Fire do you have?
7", 8", 10" ?
2019 model?

It's actually a friend who has the Kindle Fire, so I'm not sure. I know she bought it recently, so I'm pretty sure it's a current model.

Sorry if this is totally retarded but are all archos tablets considered gen 8. ? I haven't found one dubbed that by the manufacturer and trying to make sure the archos 101 internet tab will work with the rims in the dev section. . Thank you for your time and help. Also sorry if I missed the answer on this board I tried a general search didn't see it. Thanks.

1. No, not all Archos tablets are Gen8. Archos had a series of tablets before the Gen8 (I think they were the 5 inch models.)
2. Here's a link to the Gen8
http://www.archos.com/products/ta/index.html?country=us&lang=en
Thank you very much. Just bought the ten inch.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
Aside from the 5 inch models, there was a 7 inch model prior to the Gen 8, it was the Archos 7 Home Tablet
And there was also a 9 inch model that ran windows before the Gen 8 too.
Looking to get a kindle fire for 120 to root and put Ics on it. Is there a better choice at the moment? So many crap android tablets its hard to tell what is good right now. The lack of Bluetooth is the only option the fire does not have.
Has anybody tried the haipad?
Pure ICS only
i suggest you hold off till google i/o and see if they release one for $199
Yeah I know been hearing it going to be around 150. But either way if I get the fire now I can sell it it for what I paid for it.
Pure ICS only
HP touchpad was pretty cheap

You can get the Lenovo A1 for $169 brand new on Newegg. I don't know if there is an ICS build for it though. Another option is the Anovo or something like that. Also around $169 new.

I'd say that for now, the Fire is the best Android tablet for under $200.
This Hyundai device direct from China for $110 seems pretty good. Also available in black.

Ben's Outlet has the refurbished 7” Acer first gen tablet for $170 and that has an ICS upgrade.

I actually did sell my kindle fire and stepped up to this - fantastic device for the money! Though the development community is no where as active as this one is yet.

Maybe nook tablet? im just waiting to see if they make a kindle fire 2, and if it has features that the first kindle fire is missing
Have you found a 10" tablet with ICS in that price range? Quality build, even if generic or name brand.

there are several cheap ICS tablets available, I'd recommend uPlay tablet C70, it sports 1.2 Ghz processor, muti touch 7 inch screen, front camera that does full 1080p and has an HDMI port. The best part is that it comes dirt cheap at $79 with one year warranty!

Hey,
since the kfire HDX is getting released and the original kindle fire is nearing it's second year, I thought that it would be interesting to pop up a poll to see how much people are still using the kfire (1st gen).
Me. Im not upgrading to the hdx, but i might win a ipad mini from the city council for doing a recycling mascot for the city.

Have had my 1st gen. for a year now and have updated to newest 4.3 and still never have had a issue that I can say wasn't unbearable. Daughters have the 2nd gen and thats a POS.. And never fails when watching movies or music... Im sticking with my 1st gen
Went for the 32GB Nexus 7 (2012), since it's cheaper and I think it's a nice upgrade to the kfire and I can put ubuntu too on it
I still love my first gen, it was a great cheap tablet, but sadly it is underpowered in today's market. Oh well I am rocking CM 10.2 that's good enough

The kindle fire HDX is the first amazon tablet I've seen that actually competes with the other ones in this market.. (spec wise)

I too have a first gen, and yeah it's a bit slow now in comparison. But I still use it and enjoy having it! I am using Jellybeer on mine after trying a couple of other roms that didn't turn out well. What rom are you using tfor CM 10.2? Jellybeer is only 10.1 that I know of.
Hello. I just picked up a razr hd maxx and turns out it was a demo model at the local verizon store. I've searched the forums but haven't found anything on it, but is it possible to root it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advanced
There's a ton of threads on xda about routing this phone. Assuming it was a working demo and not a dummy demo, you should be able to root it. Unlocking it will depend on if it's been updated to the latest. If it has then it's not in unlockable.

Ah I see. What would be the latest software or firmware version? Also we're from the same city lol
Nice! I'm not sure but I'm sure a Google search will easily yield you the version number. Sorry I'm not trying to be unhelpful but the info is there. You can download the utility from the development section and it should have all that info in it for you as well as the root exploit. Should be fairly easy (less then a couple minutes.) Good luck

9.18.79 or 9.20.1, either one = no unlock for bootloader (probably ever)
That's a shame.

Not even worth the time man its not going to happen. We were lucky to get the first exploit and now this phone is last year's model it ain't happening.

Yes this is the Tab 4 forum and if you look in the General section you can see for yourself that a couple of the European 10.1 models (SM-T530 and SM-T535) have already gotten an update, all the other models are still waiting. Nobody here is a Samsung employee so no one knows when the updates will go out. Right now several of the models have working Cyanogenmod 12(.1) roms (lollipop).

It's fairly simple you just have to know which model number you have (settings > About device > model number) and then in the general section you should be able to find a method to root
