[MOD] Ambient Display For Cataclysm Rom - August 7 beta

Hi, due to some of the demands on cataclysm thread I decided to create a thread for the ambient display mod for cataclysm.
For some of you the didn't know what this do is to enable the ambient display mod that is built in on lollipop(n6) but disabled on nexus 5.
Ambient display is the ability to wake up the screen via device pickup or a notification arrival although because of some limitations on hardware side it won't work properly via device pickup on our device but will work 100% percent on notification arrival.

That depends on the update. Some cataclysm "small" update zips may not overwrite this mod and some will. A "full" ROM zip will overwrite it.

Cataclysm is a closed source rom, that would be hard for sure

Screen wakes itself
Hi, I've just tried the mod but I'm having a little trouble with it. I think it may be related to dt2w on Elemental X, although I am just guessing.
When you switch off the screen with the power button, ambient display wakes it again immediately showing the clock. This fades and then the clock comes back a second time. This then fades away but leaves the double tap active (I have a 15 min timout). It should be disabled as I switched off using the power button.
I would love to use this mod properly.

Try flashing the rom and try with stock kernel. You will see if it's kernel related.

Ambient mod revert just reverts the changes made, so basically you're back to the ROM you had before you flashed the mod

I'd just like to let you know, if you didn't already, that the Jan 4 ambient display mod conflicts with some of the new cataclysm Jan 10 update features. For example, long-press flashlight, sweep to sleep, and quick toggles hide labels.

ROM & Kernel customization options wishlist

Post up your wish-list of custom options for custom ROM's (non OP) and Kernels and I'll add them to the OP.
This is for options that you aren't finding in any ROM, or at least not in your favorite ROM.
Feel free to mention your current ROM if you like but this thread is NOT about which ROM is the best or your favorite.

I'll try to bold new suggestions every day or so till the thread gets tired.
*Ability to filter out specific notifications from appearing (ie: NotifyClean)
*Bring "only show running apps" option back to Slim Recents.
*Clearly mentioned in OP if rom supports encryption/decryption.
*Day/Night - Provide option to switch between two different Substratum themes at toggle of a button.
*Fix the earphone bug.
*Fully working OOS camera
*Now Playing features from Pixel 2 XL detect song from lockscreen via ambient
*Option to remove USB Debugging notification is missing on some newer ROM's.
*Ring on charge complete
*Vibration - Would like to have option for more than 100% vibration.

- Clearly mentioned in OP if rom supports encryption/decryption. That is not always the case and people ask many times in the same thread.
- Long press back to kill foreground app.

Fully working OOS camera times 100. Literally the only thing stopping me from switching from OOS betas. I'm aware of the Google Camera functionality and also about all its problems.

Ability to filter out specific notifications from appearing. For example, my wife and I 'share' an Amazon Prime Photos account. I don't want a 'Successfully uploaded photos from your 3rd device' notification every time she uploads something. But I don't want to mute notifications for the whole app (or sometimes even notification group) as I may not get the 'upload progress' notifications' anymore. The Xposed module Notify Clean was perfect pre-Nougat and AutoNotification works alright post-Nougat, but it would be nice if this was baked into the ROM.

Just FYI, this is already available in every custom ROM I've tried so far.
You just have to enable the navigation bar options and then go into the button editor. I set up all my ROM's with this. And set the home button to open camera on long press.

OMG, if NotifyClean ever gets updated for Oreo I will go back to using Xposed again.

Hello there,
First off, the only couple things that stopping me to move from stock to a custom rom is the OOS camera (as mentioned above) and mostly the earphone bug. The mic on the phone and the earphones seems to be activated during a call and it gets pretty annoying to hear an amplified background of your environment and the person's on the other end, seems like most custom roms have this problem.
I've also long wanted to see ''ring on charge complete'' on the OP5T.

I think this might be an option using Light Flow?
If you really want it then it might be worth looking into.
It does custom ringtones for certain actions.
And they can be backed up for ROM re-flashes as long as the ringtone is stored in the usual spot /system/media/sounds/etc.

A few ROM's provide built in day/night theme options.
But they don't theme apps like phone or calculator or anything else.
They only theme the settings and drop-down and a couple other things.
I want a nice non-tasker hack.
And would be willing to donate for it :lol:

Ive been using it as my daily driver since couples of weeks.. Its lightweight rom

Notification area, QS tiles and volume control menu don't change according to the selected theme or even based on wallpaper.
Also i think the option to unlink notification volume ajustment from the ringtone one is pretty essential to have ? Maybe it's just me.
Other than that it works great for now.

No built in second space for aosp. You can use an app like parallel or else for doubling the app

How it could be a stupid thing question when someone don't have knowledge regarding AOSP roms, any way thanks for informing that only miui has this feature.

pretty good rom, fastest i have tried so far, fast fingerprint and face unlocks, for some reason, PUBG and other games run really well here with high graphics settings, edge gesture work good but not great, i've had to try more than a couple times for it to respond, all in all, good rom for a first commit, next update should fix this I would think. Will update on battery life later on, but so far its looking good.

My IR Blaster is not working. Rest is very good.

There is an option in developer options which is always on during charging.

Im new here, but there is a group in fb where you can get the apk to enable AOD.

Hi I've been trying to install the Samsung AOD app but it fails to install (a friend did it on his A20 and it installed without a problem). Is there a particular version of the AOD app to install?

There is no app for screen recorder. Install APKs and go to manage quick items in notification center. You will see screen recorder and always on display NOTE: you have to agree to terms and conditions for first time screen recorder.

It's found in the floko settings/user interface/ ambient display.

Thanks man, but I'm not in a position to change ROMs right now. Will take a look into it after my semester is complete.

My navbar is still visible with the AOD on is that normal

Check out Always on AMOLED from the Play Store - I've used it on the A20 and the Bold N1 and it works pretty good. Battery drain isn't too bad. Decent options on the free version but for $2 it's worth the "pro" version. It will also display alerts around the screen for e-mails, etc.

crDroid recovery was uploaded with the build, however you can use anything you want.
Edit: Please use the provided crDroid recovery from now on.

Smart Charging was added, aux camera was configured (for Aperture), color profile was adjusted (according to the vote), and notification led with charging led was fixed.

Yes, D2TW is not working now. Will look into that when I have time.

Major change:
- Security patch date is now 2023-01-05.
- Adjust status bar padding to fit more icons.
- Add MIUI poweroff charging animation.
- Enable burn-in protection.
- Adjust brightness settings.
Note: DT2W is still half-broken. Works plug-in, "sometimes" works when unplugged.

Great to see you blow some life in cdroid ROM it's my favourite one . How stable is the current build? I saw the pixel experience ROM has problems with the fingerprint reader. Does it work on this ROM?

Fingerprint sensor works on the ROM.
DT2W is the only problem I'm aware of so far.

A quick update:
I have taken some time testing today and found the solution to fix DT2W. Since the ROM has built-in OTA, constant release will be annoying, so it'll be implemented in the next release (next month). Sorry for the inconvenience.

Did you ever replace your screen? This does not occur on my device.
Also, can you give me pictures of top and bottom corner on both lock screen and after unlock?

I haven't changed the screen
The display after unlocking is normal,
The top fillet is only like this on the claim screen.

- Vendor patch date is now 2022-05-01.
- Fix DT2W.
- Fix white tint on the lock screen, when using light theme.
- Add hide cutout option under dev-option.
- Apply patch for Gcam by default.
- Prevent status bar icons from shifting. (Burn-in protection got disabled)
