Not sure, I don't use the adapter. I have a set of pixel 3 earbuds and have no issues.

USB Audio downsampling to mono

I have a Leckerton UHA-6S.mkii external DAC/amp that I use for highly sensitive IEMs, since the noise floor with the stock chip on phones is too high, and the volume steps on android go from silent to deadly loud at volume step 2. I have successfully used it with my old Nexus 5 with no issues, but as soon as I upgraded to 6.0 on the Nexus 5, I noticed the output was downsampled to mono and sounded quite bad. I wasn't sure if this was my custom kernel (ElementalX on the Nexus 5) at the time, so instead of troubleshooting, I waited until I got my 6P in.
Unfortunately I'm having the same issue; USB audio output to the DAC is still being downsampled to mono and sounds pretty bad. Does anybody have any ideas on how to resolve this? Is this a software bug in 6.0, or is there a setting that I can change?

Weird, I am noticing the same mono mixdown on my Nexus 9. I have a type C OTG cable en route, and will report on whether Nexus 6P also plays mono. Very odd.

So I got the USB C OTG cable today for the Nexus 6P and can confirm that the audio is downsampling to mono. My nexus 5 was not doing this, even on 6.0, so I'm curious what the issue is.

Interesting. So I called Google's Nexus Support Specialist number and spoke with someone, who said 1) he had no idea what a USB DAC is (!) and 2) he'd "Escalate this" to a higher level tech support. They placed me on hold, then came back and said that I should call Turtle Beach since it is likely an issue on their end. I've put in a support ticket with them, so we'll see what they say (I have a feeling it will be blaming google / android, ha).
But what I'm not getting is, why would Nexus 5 (stock everything) work fine with the DAC, and Nexus 6P is doing this weird mono thing? The google Nexus support guy had no answer, other than to say he would bring my issue up in the next meeting and ask that Nexus Support Specialists receive training on USB Audio, which apparently they currently do not.
Long story short I really don't want to have to get a new DAC for my 6P when the one I have worked fine with the N5.
Also using a Dragonfly with the 6P and Google's USB type C to USB Standard A Adaptor. All fine and in Stereo.
I'm getting the same problem on my 6P with a generic PCM2704 outputting spdif over coax to a minidsp in my car. It definitely worked in stereo on lollipop, and same deal with a behringer uca202 over headphones or analogue RCA out :crying:
I found a slight work around, streaming tidal lossless via USB audio player pro and I'm back to glorious stereo
The same issue with HTC One M8 on Android 6 with HiFiMeDIY Sabre Android USB DAC (ES9023+PCM2706).
Right now I've returned to Android 5.1 and USB audio is stereo here. So it's Android 6 issue
The defect in issue tracker: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=194130
did anyone get a resolution to this problem?
sorry for resurrecting this several months later
I only ever noticed the mono issue when using spdif out. Never had a problem using a xonar u7 with headphones.
Using USB Audio Player Pro for spdif fixed the mono issue on any card I tried. Question is, is the issue still present on nougat?
The issue was fixed in Android 7, I've tested in my Nexus 9.

USB type C earphones. Do they work?

I've seen a few on Amazon and I'd like to test them, to see if audio quality is better or not.

I'm not sure they're going to do much UNLESS they have a built in DAC powered by the USB-C port which I am doubtful of.
If I had to guess, the USB-C connection is only using R-L-MIC-GND much like a four pole 3.5mm jack.

HTC U11 3.5mm headphone adaptor with built in DAC compatible with Samsung S8?

Hi
I'm looking at options to get better sound on my S8. Does anyone know if the HTC U11 3.5mm adaptor with the built in DAC will be compatible with the S8 and if it will improve audio listening through spotify?
Has anyone tried this?
The adaptor is only £10 to buy so could be a cheap way to get better audio.
I'm not interested in rooting as I find samsung pay and secure folder useful so Viper isn't an option for me.

I currently use a Fiio E11 headphone amp. Its a little bit of bulk but the sound quality is night and day different. I am in the market for a new one soon as this thing is a good few years old and taken a beating, so I don't know if there is something better / smaller out now, but as and when I start looking I will update with any cool options I find
Funny, only reason I didn't switch from HTC 10 to U11 (and am considering S8) is the lack of normal headphone jack and that freaking dongle, lol

Just did a side by side comparison of S8 and HTC 10, on the same source, using the same Neutron player with the same settings (after calibrating S8 to my ears). Sad story - S8 is noticeably worse...

What are you using earphones or headphones? S8 like the U11 + adapter can't drive big headphones big the S8 will drive a pair of KZ earphones like a charm

Sony in ear headphones (similar to Sony MDR-XB90EX )
I just wish I could get my FiiO Q1 to work with my S8. I've tried the included USB C to USB adaptor that came with the phone, an aftermarket one, and a USB C to micro USB and none of them have worked. I might have to try this dongle.

Yes i also mentioned it
i believe it happens to some earphone with mic. i have more than 3 headphones, two work perfect with oneplus 5, the other i have to try plug and pull out a little bit then test.
You may try other headphones ~
if you like your headphone pretty much, you may try type-c/3.5mm converter (especially the one from HTC), the quality of both record/listening is super good.

So, if I'm not wrong, using any type-c/3.5mm converter (especially the one from HTC), improves the input and output sound quality of every 3.5mm headphone jack+microphone on the Oneplus 5?
So, if I buy a cheap type-c/3.5mm converter and I plug it in my Oneplus 5, then the sound coming of the headphone will always be improved?
Regardless of the Headphone brand and specs? And as a bonus, there will never be any compatibility issues like with the microphones or with the headphone control buttons?
These converters sound magical.
Did anyone try one on a 1+5 yet?

The dongle and the headphones have to be high spec for good performance. But the op5 jack Is better than most phones like the s8. Watch Juan's real audio review

I know that the Jack on the OnePlus 5 is supposed to be really good.
The problem though is the microphone of my headphones which either do not work well or do not work at all on this phone.
And I'm talking about headphones that work with no problems at all on any other devices I possess.
I never thought that Oneplus would implement a proprietary 3.5mm jack on its phones, but it would seem they did.

No , No..the headphone jack is not proprietary, it just comes with different qualities, kinda like a micro usb port with usb 2 or usb 3. Same port just better hardware

Usb-c to 3.5mm earphone adapter.

Hello everybody.
I would like to buy an adapter from usb-c to 3.5mm earphone plug. I see it is a little bit more complicated than I thought- There are adapters with DAC chip, without a chip, others won't fit Samsung, etc.
I just want an adapter because of the lack of 3.5mm socket and keep listening music like I did so far. I would like to have the option to use this plug with none-Samsung phones ,too.
What kind of adapter and brands do you recommend to buy ?
Thanks in advance,
Arye
Do a search, this has been discussed since the firsts days of the note 10 forum
I did a search.Did not find anything.
I bought the Samsung adaptor, which seems to work well.

I use it with my Etymotic HF5 and Beyerdynamic DT880 and the sound is superb - by far better then what DT880 can deliver.
My music source is mostly Tidal MQA via USB Audio Player PRO.
Excellent price to performance ratio!
Just an hour ago, I received an adapter.

I'm not surprised, given that it's 10x the price of the Samsung one!
Samsung's is flimsy... it doesn't inspire longevity confidence.
The great Samsung flagship missing 3.5 mm jack fubar continues... lame.
I advise you to acquire an adapter that allows you to charge the phone at the same time.
So an adapter with double inlet, USB-C for charging and 3.5mm Audio

It says it's not compatible with the Note 10, S10 etc.
Yes, you're right. I didn't notice that, even though I don't understand how it is not compatible.
I use Wordima USB-C to 3.5mm Charger Adapter (https://www.amazon.com/WORDIMA-Headphone-Charger-Adapter-Compatible/dp/B07TBKG7N4), currently unavailable.
But, here are 2 other devices, compatible with the Note 10::

Presumably because it does not incorporate a DAC. The only adaptors that work with the Note 10+ are those with a DAC in them.

Yeah it's tricky. Worse no clue how good that one is.
It was much better with a known internal phone DAC and the 3.5 mm jack. The Note 4 was a better audio platform. WTF?
Samsung really dropped the ball Special Olympics style...
Whatever the dongle DAC is I doubt it's a 32 bit Burr-Brown. Ha!
