What E-FOTA has to do with updates? E-FOTA is for businesses to push updates to their employees.

People in the past have talked about getting there update from there before its been pushed to everyone else. Just wondering if they actually had another source and that was their cover or if its actually true.
Btw anyone can get E-FOTA access for about $12 through third party sellers like CDW. Its the only way these days to stop forced ota without root.

Samsung pay disappeared after update

Hi guys,
I had a small update on my UK S7 edge (1.5mb) and after it completed Samsung pay app was gone.
Anyone else had this happen?
Thanks.
Mine was shipped without the Pay app (UK version from Samsung). It also didn't have the Music or Video apps either.
I sideloaded Pay and haven't received the update yet.
Its strange, was yours a Sim free version? Have you managed to download and install the pay app?
Thanks.
Yes, SIM free from Samsung directly.
You can download the Pay app here.
Thank you nobnut, that worked for me. Much appreciated! :good:
Shabbadabbadoo.
UK model here CPW unlocked Samsung pay on board. No update

Aha yes done update and pay has gone. Don't mind that no use till it's released.
apparently it was removed in the latest ota update as samsung pay launch has been pushed back in the uk. so it makes sense the app is gone

Yeah I read it was launching end of this month
Check the playstore for Samsung Pay or the galaxy store.
Vodaphone included their own pay app rather than Samsungs....
It's that all the update was for?

what is going on with the lack of updates on unlocked us996??

this is ridiculous. I buy the unlocked version because they always get updated first, but here we are sitting on the October security patch and the original software that came with the phone while all of the carriers have been getting updates the past two months.
seriously lg, wtf is going on?
Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk
I don't think AT&T has received any updates at all? I mean since I'm rooted and such, I don't receive update notifications - but I don't think we have gotten anything either.
My T-mobile version didn't get any update since October. Don't know where you have your information from.
According to this, 10f was officially released on the 4th. You can use LGBridge or try software update in settings to get it.

SM-G935F (XSG) Nougat. Samsung Pay | Rooting | ROM's

So I'm on like my 4th S7 edge. I keep breaking them and getting them replaced through insurance. Well, AT&T decided my last replacement was too many so they canceled my coverage. Not to worry, I have WorthAve Group covering me now and I just received my replacement the other day. I decided to go the unlocked international route and got a SM-G935F (XSG) United Arab Emirates. As soon as popped my AT&T SIM in it immediately downloaded the Nougat update. It's working great, speed is fantastic, functionality as far as I can tell is great, no major issues.
There's a few differences I see I guess from some of the review videos on YouTube, but not much. Few questions:
Will Samsung Pay work whether on the XSG, BTU, or any other factory firmware???
Can I root the phone?
Custom ROM's can be loaded?
What is Samsung Pass in the Security section? It doesn't do anything except go to a blank white screen???

yes, as long as it is stock firmware.
you can root the phone currently nougat has no reliable root but samsung pay will no longer work.
Yes, custom roms can be loaded.
I do not know what samsung pass does.

I haven't rooted yet, still on the factory XSG firmware it came with and Samsung Pay won't get any further than the initial start screen. Just sits there with the rewards info and an unending loading circle. Is this normal? Would the UK firmware give me any different results you think?

I don't think so. I didn't have Samsung Pass on my previous S7 running Marshmallow, the fact tory Internet browser lets you do that currently.

Would flashing any of the custom ROM's that are updated to nougat be a viable option to get Samsung Pay to work?

singapore, thailand and malaysia share same firmware. so we do have nougat.
but its a multi csc firmware... if you flash it your samsung pay will actually be in thai...

This is incorrect. The latest SuperSU version works flawlessly on Nougat. A lot of people seem to be getting this wrong due to older versions not working.

Apparently with my S7 I have butterfingers and dropped and cracked them all. Sent them back under service provider warranty for refurbished ones. AT&T felt I had broken too many so canceled my insurance. I got a 3rd party provider, which is WAYYYY better than AT&T and all the other service providers, because they sent me a fat ol check for $800 to get a brand new phone. I went the international unlocked route which was much cheaper than the $769 for the US unlocked one. But alas, here I am without Samsung Pay [emoji22]

Do I need to return my S8 to Best Buy?

Went to Best Buy today to purchase an S8. They said they didn't have any for T-Mobile, but did for Verizon and said that all I had to do was pop in my T-Mobile sim and it would work like an unlocked device. No luck. Went back to Best Buy and he took the Verizon sim out of his personal phone, popped it in mine, activated the device and then put my T-Mobile sim in the device. Wasn't having any issues until I tried to update the device. Now I'm just getting an "Service Unavailable: Sorry, we are having trouble authenticating your device. Try again later" message. I'm trying to update it on both Wifi and I've tried cellular.
Should I just return this device to Best Buy? I'm paying month to month with T-Mobile and not planning on switching from them, and also just waned to pay in full the device instead of monthly fees. Should I return the device and will I run into future issues using the T-Mobile sim on a "verizon" s8? Thanks!
If you're paying full price, why not just go to a T-Mobile store and purchase one there? Once the firmwares start getting released, you should be able to load a T-Mobile on onto the Verizon version to get all the features working, but even if you do, why go through the hassle?
I would flash the TMobile firmware using ODIN.
Best Buy will be selling the unlocked model on May 9th.

So would it be best to wait for the unlocked model? Does flashing void the warranty? and I tried searching a link for the topic, could ya share it? Thanks...
(about me, I haven't flashed, rooted, etc a device since my htc m9 back in the day... have since had a nexus 6p which is why I haven't been on here often lately. I appreciate the help)

I ended up downloading the "Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant" after searching for it for 30 minutes (their site is terrible...).
It's supposedly updating now but it's taking an hour to do so...

I think? It's slow though. It's been an hour and just now to 60%. Each time the screen on the phone turned off it crashed the software. I think i'm just going to return the phone tomorrow and wait for the unlocked version to come out :/ I really wanted to keep. Sucks.
By purchasing the unlocked version that means it doesn't have as much spam and it won't have to wait for carrier tests/crap correct?
Edit: the software crashed while updating. thought I bricked the phone but thankfully it restarted when I held the down+power for 10 seconds... It said "odin protocol version error!". Guess I'm returning cause I won't ever get updates lol.

Cross flash it with the T-Mobile official software once available using Odin.
I did this on an S7 from AT&T and put the T-Mobile rom. Was detected as fully official, no root, etc, Knox worked, and even Samsung Pay. Acted like any other T-Mobile phone and got all the T-Mobile software updates after that.

Would doing so void the warranty if I have to send it in though? And how difficult is flashing a phone with Odin? I haven't rooted/unlocked/etc a phone since my M7 years ago and only did that with a video on YouTube showing how to? (thanks)
You should return it and get the tmobile version. It is going to be more trouble than it is worth long run. IMO

If you flash an official Samsung Firmware that doesn't void your warranty. You can flash an official Samsung update via Odin. It is very easy process but you have to wait for official updates to become available. Once those are available you can look for those in www.sammobile.com.

Unlocked SGS8 US model, no updates from Samsung yet

I trusted Samsung when they said that the updates for the unlocked US models will be handled a lot better. The carrier versions started receiving May 2017 security updates. It may be little bit to early to declare that Samsung is sticking to their old habits/shenanigans but ill be jumping to Essential phone if i do not see updates coming by the time Essential is out for sale.
Anyone received updates for the unlocked USA model?
Could of swore you could flash one of the canadian xac firmware on the american phones, kinda defeats the purpose though but it is another option. What security patch is the unlocked s8 on?
April 1, 2017
Give Samsung time, they have hundreds of different Systems they have to build and make. Give them time.
XAC has been updated to AQEJ and that was a few days ago. I see TMO is the only US varient that has received a updated this month so far but all off out firmware is the same, only thing different is user data. So you could download the TMO software and flash the normal files minus user data and that will be your unlocked U firmware.

That is not my fault that they are churning out boat load of different models that cannot support and provide timely updates. What is my fault is that i gave them my money ... I shouldn't have done that.
