So I'm on like my 4th S7 edge. I keep breaking them and getting them replaced through insurance. Well, AT&T decided my last replacement was too many so they canceled my coverage. Not to worry, I have WorthAve Group covering me now and I just received my replacement the other day. I decided to go the unlocked international route and got a SM-G935F (XSG) United Arab Emirates. As soon as popped my AT&T SIM in it immediately downloaded the Nougat update. It's working great, speed is fantastic, functionality as far as I can tell is great, no major issues.
There's a few differences I see I guess from some of the review videos on YouTube, but not much. Few questions:
Will Samsung Pay work whether on the XSG, BTU, or any other factory firmware???
Can I root the phone?
Custom ROM's can be loaded?
What is Samsung Pass in the Security section? It doesn't do anything except go to a blank white screen???

yes, as long as it is stock firmware.
you can root the phone currently nougat has no reliable root but samsung pay will no longer work.
Yes, custom roms can be loaded.
I do not know what samsung pass does.

I haven't rooted yet, still on the factory XSG firmware it came with and Samsung Pay won't get any further than the initial start screen. Just sits there with the rewards info and an unending loading circle. Is this normal? Would the UK firmware give me any different results you think?

This is incorrect. The latest SuperSU version works flawlessly on Nougat. A lot of people seem to be getting this wrong due to older versions not working.

Apparently with my S7 I have butterfingers and dropped and cracked them all. Sent them back under service provider warranty for refurbished ones. AT&T felt I had broken too many so canceled my insurance. I got a 3rd party provider, which is WAYYYY better than AT&T and all the other service providers, because they sent me a fat ol check for $800 to get a brand new phone. I went the international unlocked route which was much cheaper than the $769 for the US unlocked one. But alas, here I am without Samsung Pay [emoji22]

Hi guys,
I had a small update on my UK S7 edge (1.5mb) and after it completed Samsung pay app was gone.
Anyone else had this happen?
Thanks.
Mine was shipped without the Pay app (UK version from Samsung). It also didn't have the Music or Video apps either.
I sideloaded Pay and haven't received the update yet.
Its strange, was yours a Sim free version? Have you managed to download and install the pay app?
Thanks.
Yes, SIM free from Samsung directly.
You can download the Pay app here.
Thank you nobnut, that worked for me. Much appreciated! :good:

apparently it was removed in the latest ota update as samsung pay launch has been pushed back in the uk. so it makes sense the app is gone

I recently discovered that there is no Samsung Pay on my S7E, and I can't install it from the Play store. When I install the apk, I get an error saying it can't connect to the server.
I received my phone from 232tech, which appears to be a G935F made for the middle East and north Africa, since there's a sticker on the box that says that, but I thought this wouldn't be a problem because the phone was region unlocked prior to me opening it.
Anyone else getting the same issue? I'd love to use Samsung Pay.

Arh, sounded like an european trying to get it to work. As far as i'm aware, it only works on the US (Snapdragon) variant and will not work in other countries (or models) before they release it the international version, so not much you can do as far as I know.
Go to apkmirror.come and download/install it.
the IMEI is not associated with region with samsung pay, and even if it will, it will not be the correct region that will accept your card unless your bank is from middle east and north africa, so no, you wont be able to use samsung pay on your phone

Ah, I feel as if this is vital information! Good thing a android pay still works though. Part of the reason why I purchased this S7E is because touchwiz is pretty decent, and there's no need to root or run a custom ROM (IMO, of course). If Samsung Pay was higher on the priority list, this may have been a deal breaker

I'm getting a UK S8+ to use on AT&T and have researched this. Based on what's been done with S7e we should be able to get Samsung pay working on the UK variant. To make it work requires installing the right versions and combinations of Samsung Pay Framework and the Samsung Pay app. Payments and Samsung Pay Rewards seems to work, gift cards might, but the "deals" doesn't seem to. I've also pre-ordered a AT&T S8+ to play with until the UK version arrives. I'll extract the Pay Framework and Pay App from it to install my UK phone. Since Samsung Pay isn't pre-installed on UK phones (it hasn't launched there) it's more of a challenge. From what I've read global phones with Pay pre-installed seem to be easier to get working. Pay is supposed to launch in the UK this year so that might help. We'll see.
In terms of other "stuff" you won't be able to use VoLTE, NumberSync, and other AT&T specific features. But you'll get a crapware free phone and regular updates from Samsung directly.
Thank you for the reply! I preordered the ATT version as well.. if you don't mind, let me know if you are able to get this working. I would love to use the international version vs the ATT

Weird. is it the same model "F" they sell in UK and Sweden/Russia?
I've been using my S3 watch lately anyway for Pay, so lack of Pay on the phone itself might not be a big deal.

I'm retired from flashing. I'd rather add Samsung Pay to my BTU S8+ than flash another country's ROM on it. BTU typically has the least regional modifications and gets the most frequent updates fastest. If you read the S7e forums you have to go through some gymnastics to get Samsung Pay working in the U.S. on an international phone no matter what CSC you use. So I may as well keep my original CSC. Once I figure it out I'll post instructions and the APKs if necessary as I know a lot of people are ordering British S8s.
So I got my S8 Exynos from EBAY, samsung pay didn't work because I had the AFG CSC, so I reset the phone with a UK sim in it and that changed the CSC to XEU (UK), Samsung pay now works but the problem is in the UK they only have the NFC payment activated by Samsung not the MST so basically it's nothing more than Android Pay...
Anyone tried installing US SPay APKs on your intl. phone? any luch?
Best,
Joe
This is what I received back. Not a 100% guarantee but promising no stupid logo or missing earbuds and hopefully the beautiful black box and not an ugly AT&T one!

what's the difference if you're leasing it from the carrier?
None really besides being able to network unlock it. Its just preference. If leasing you dont really own the phone but can upgrade if on NEXT easy if the phone stays undamaged when you trade it in. I prefer to buy my phones outright but thats just me.

Went to Best Buy today to purchase an S8. They said they didn't have any for T-Mobile, but did for Verizon and said that all I had to do was pop in my T-Mobile sim and it would work like an unlocked device. No luck. Went back to Best Buy and he took the Verizon sim out of his personal phone, popped it in mine, activated the device and then put my T-Mobile sim in the device. Wasn't having any issues until I tried to update the device. Now I'm just getting an "Service Unavailable: Sorry, we are having trouble authenticating your device. Try again later" message. I'm trying to update it on both Wifi and I've tried cellular.
Should I just return this device to Best Buy? I'm paying month to month with T-Mobile and not planning on switching from them, and also just waned to pay in full the device instead of monthly fees. Should I return the device and will I run into future issues using the T-Mobile sim on a "verizon" s8? Thanks!
If you're paying full price, why not just go to a T-Mobile store and purchase one there? Once the firmwares start getting released, you should be able to load a T-Mobile on onto the Verizon version to get all the features working, but even if you do, why go through the hassle?
I would flash the TMobile firmware using ODIN.
Best Buy will be selling the unlocked model on May 9th.

I think? It's slow though. It's been an hour and just now to 60%. Each time the screen on the phone turned off it crashed the software. I think i'm just going to return the phone tomorrow and wait for the unlocked version to come out :/ I really wanted to keep. Sucks.
By purchasing the unlocked version that means it doesn't have as much spam and it won't have to wait for carrier tests/crap correct?
Edit: the software crashed while updating. thought I bricked the phone but thankfully it restarted when I held the down+power for 10 seconds... It said "odin protocol version error!". Guess I'm returning cause I won't ever get updates lol.

If you flash an official Samsung Firmware that doesn't void your warranty. You can flash an official Samsung update via Odin. It is very easy process but you have to wait for official updates to become available. Once those are available you can look for those in www.sammobile.com.
