Hotspot Hack/Mod - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Has anyone been able to hack the hotspot like we have in Galaxy past? I feel like this was a big accomplishment outside of having to root our phones and it’s always been nice to use my unlimited Sprint data with it.
THANKS EVERYONE!!!

All we need is to be able to edit the apn and add ,dun to it

I have dun on my s10 plus. Sprint is my carrier

I also have sprint. Im on the unlocked U1 model. Im able to add an apn set for dun but it only allows me to toggle mobile hotspot but dosent actually turn on

use this....
##3282#
enter MSL (000000)
go to APN Settings
touch top left hand corner just above the blue dot and the greyed out will become white giving access to change APN
goto APN Type and enter "dun" between mms and xcap( default, mms, dun, xcap, supl )
save
All done
save
not sure if it will work on U1 models but worth a try

So im able to activate my hotspot and connect to it after adding dun to a copy of the appropriate apn. Only problem now is i dont get internet access on the connected device. Anyone have an idea how to bypass carrier block on the network side?

No it does not work. If it was that easy everyone would do it and they wouldnt have hotspot addons. Its only 10$ extra most of the time. Not that much

With the Sprint Unlimited Kickstart plan which is true unlimited for about $35 a month dosent have a hotspot addon. That requires a $60 plus plan.
(Before someone says there's no such thing as true unlimited, nowhere in any agreement does it say a limit. Ive been using 80-100 GB a month without complaints or hard slow downs.)

As far as I know, their is no restriction on devices with this plan. So you should be fine with the Nexus 4. AT&T would be another story.

Just activate the SIM with the Nexus 4 and when you have to pick a plan, just choose the 30 dollar one on the website. No voodoo or black magic needed, T-Mobile doesn't care if you use this plan with your Nexus.

[mod] ** Working Hotspot **

What's up guys. (i'm just sharing my way of doing this, i'm not taking credit)
- Myself and a friend (@ teg50886 twitter) figured out a way to get the wifi hotspot working.
- I've only tested this on Sprint, they have unlimited LTE here where I live. So yeaaaa .....
^^ YOU MUST HAVE ROOT ^^
@jcase fixed all that for us here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
* Directions:
1. Download this app from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter&hl=en
(his email is listed on GP [email protected]) So, Thank Him and Buy his app. I'ts only $2.50
2. Go to "Configure Wifi Router"
3. Go to "Interface" and select first option "wlan0"
4. Go to "Method" and select second option "Android 4.2+"
5. That is it. Easy as Pie.
Thanks for the info. It worked perfectly on my Sprint LG G3 following the instructions you posted.

WiFi hotspot works perfectly out of the box for me... I'm in the UK with the 4G EE network.
Is it somehow limited or blocked or other countries/operators?

Sprint charges for hotspot and does not offer unlimited. Just about all U.S. carriers charge for hotspot.
Confirmed working on 3 UK! Thanks for the tip bro!
Works fine on AT&T
FYI, new Verizon plans do not charge for hotspot. So the stock hotspot app on my Verizon G3 works fine. AT&T charges (in addition to limiting data, which is exactly what Verizon got smacked down by the FCC for...)
(I have both an AT&T G3 and a Verizon G3.)
Confirmed working on sprint 990, thanks for the find

If you have the unlimited data package on 3 UK (like I do) they now only let you tether 100mb's of data, this app/settings bypass that ^_^

Will the Moto X allow unlimited native tethering out of the box?

I have a few buddies who have the One Plus One and claim to have unlimited native tether without tripping any kind of notice to their mobile provider.
Will the Moto X Pure Edition have the ability to do this? Or will it have to be rooted for this to happen? I currently use the Wifi Tether Router app on a Rooted S6 Edge and it works great.
If you're buying a SIM free device, why would Moto tell anyone what you're up to?

If they look close enough they can tell. Some have basic flags set up to alert them but they are easy to bypass.

I was reading through the 2014 Moto X threads where people were discussing how to edit their build.prop scripts so that native tethering would not be detected.
I just met up with my buddy today who has a One Plus One and he showed me his native tethering app and it worked great...

CDMA doesn't even exist outside of the US, so I never give it any thought whatsoever. I said SIM free because that's how the device is being sold, without contract.

Yes.
Yeah, but like many other phones, HTC One M9...sometimes messing with different Roms/development breaks VoLTE...so when you are talking on the phone...no more data.
So careful with Verizon...only time will tell I guess...let's hope it is a go though no matter what you do to it.

If anyone can get it done for a business account let me know. The workaround for personal accounts won't work for me, and Verizon is saying they won't turn itbon because they don't recognize my device as one of theirs.

BTW, VZW actually had the decency to allow adding the feature even though it was a "Non-VZW" device.

1. Wifi calling is proprietary to T-mo services and OnePlus will need to get T-mo to release the info to make it work.
2. The above will never happen.
3. OnePlus lies.
So, you are better off buying a T-mo branded phone if you want wifi calling
T Mobile develops and maintains the code for WiFi calling. Ask them.
*spoiler alert: it ain't happenin'...
Ok. Moving on now...
When did they say that?

Well, hell has frozen over.
How did they do this without changing the baseband I wonder?
Looks like they hacked it in, I wonder if it will work well? Without band 12 this is a big deal for me and many others and this will affect a lot of phones.

WiFi calling is not big of a deal, all it is, is a little more clarity or if u r home has poor coverage, u do still have to pay and have a provider, its not free calling if that is what u r thinking,
