Well as the title says, I've been having issues receiving texts messages on the $30 prepaid plan.
What happens:
-I will randomly not receive a text message, or I will receive it days later(if I turn my phone on after being off all night), or I will receive a message that is one half the current message and one half an old message from days/weeks ago(the are intertwined).
-It happens complete sporadically, no rhyme or reason. It happens at my apartment, while I'm sitting at work, or at the gym. At my lowest signal level I will have 2 bar remaining of "3g" but it's usually around 3 (I'm in Pittsburgh).
What I've tried so far to fix it:
-I had T-mobile swap out for a new sim card.
-I've contacted T-mobile customer service twice. They've "refreshed" my connection to their network, reset my sim, played with my account, etc.
-I'm using Chomp SMS as my messaging app. The issues also occurred when using the stock messaging app.
-I've cleared the cache for both apps.
What I haven't tried and what you may need to know:
-I haven't played with the APN settings all. As far as I know all of those settings are set straight from/by T-mobile.
-I'm not rooted
-I've had this problem intermittently since buying the nexus4 from google in Nov.
-My original nexus 4(which I RMA'ed) also had the problem- looking back I just thought it was the other persons phone. Which makes me believe it's on T-mobiles end, or at least a tweak in an APN setting?
-Zero issues with call clarity, data speeds. All have been perfectly fine.
-It doesn't seem to matter which carrier the person who is sending me the message is on.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Or has anyone else experienced similar issues? I'd like to hope that there's a simple fix that doesn't require me changing to ST and using AT&T but I guess if I have to... I have too. I'm at a complete loss as to what else I could try in order to fix this.
All help, tips, suggestions are welcome. Thank guys!

I have had this issue on and off with SMS messages and "Waiting Voice Mail" messages over the years (mostly on pre-smartphones and G1). All you can really do is reboot the phone often (at least once a day). I think it's related to messages sent while your phone has no service, but not 100% sure.
For 3 yrs with a half dozen smartphones I had texting issues with tmo and now on straight talk tmo it is the same thing.
It hasn't been as bad as you seem to have it but there do sometimes seem to be heavy delays.
I just got my G6 and started getting this notification saying voice services and data services are blocked (see screenshot). Not sure if it's from WiFi calling or something else, but data and phone seem to work fine. Anyone know what may be causing this?
Try a different wifi network. It could be a firewall issue.

Reviving an older thread here....
I started getting these notifications a couple weeks ago on my AT&T H871, after about 10 months with the phone. They would sometimes pop up when I'm home where cell service is spotty. When I saw the notifications, I'd notice the "AT&T" label was not being shown and I had 1 bar of network, so I assume my phone had latched onto some non-AT&T tower at the time.
Those notifications were silent, so their biggest impact was just that the big triangle with exclamation mark would take a little attention. But then came Oreo, and they are no longer silent. Yesterday I was working in my yard and they were going off every few minutes.
I would be very happy if someone had some way to avoid this! I'm going to try disabling 2G to see if that makes any difference, but since these notifications can't be blocked, I am kind of stuck with them if I can't keep whatever is causing them from happening.
Edit: I just realized that the Oreo update must have changed my default notification sound away from "Silent", so by changing that back I can at least not hear the notifications.
I need some help pinpointing an issue with my unlocked S8 (SM-G950U1) running Oreo (8.0) on Verizon Wireless.
While browsing the web and checking Facebook this afternoon I noticed my S8 dropping dropping from 4G to 3G, then eventually returning to 4G. I restarted my phone a few times, then after one of the restarts, I received two text messages at once. I thought it was a fluke, but I decided to contact Verizon to make sure they weren't having any network problems in my area. I forgot my Verizon password, so I had to request a verification code. I requested two codes, but I didn't receive them. I restarted my phone, then I received both codes. I eventually chatted with a Verizon Rep who claimed they were having no network issues in my area. I reset the network settings, cleared the system cache in recovery, and successfully received a few texts in safe mode. However, this happened a third time and the pattern was the same: Drop from 4G to 3G, return to 4G, restart the phone, receive text messages that were sent sometime prior to the restart. I rushed down to my local Verizon store and got a new SIM card just so I could rule that out as a possible problem. I'm trying to do everything I can before I do a factory rest. I really don't want to hassle with that.
I have been having a problem receiving notifications while my screen is off. This started happening after I received the following software update in early September. This issue has been documented a few other places as well, but I can't find anyone who is experiencing both issues, so I'm left to think the two issues are separate and not related.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. (And if you suggest a hardware problem with the radio, yes, I've thought about that, but I'm in denial about that possibility.)
I have a similar issue. I too have an unlocked S8 but on AT&T. I have a new sim and have factory reset my device recently and still have issues with notifications, but SMS send to be ok, it's mostly with Gmail, messaging apps (not SMS) and other notifications. I am in the latest firmware (CRH3). I it's a software issue personally.

Yeah, I'm certain the notification issue is related to the software. I just don't know if I can attribute the text message issue to software or hardware.
Hello all.
I ordered a OnePlus 6T (non-T-Mobile, 128 GB, 8 GB RAM) on launch day, which I received last week.
Once I logged in with my Google account and started trying to download apps, I noticed that it was taking forever to even start the download from the play store (it says "downloading" but the progress bar does not appear, and then maybe 45-60 seconds later it starts downloading the app). Once the actual download starts, the speed seems about normal. It also takes it forever to load images within the play store and to sync my Gmail account. Push notifications are also delayed for gmail and hangouts, if they ever appear at all.
I did multiple factory resets and OP tech support remotely flashed a fresh factory rom for me, but this didn't help the problem. I returned the device and ordered another, which I just got today. I'm having the same exact problems, which seem bizarre to me since I haven't been able to find anything online suggesting this is a common bug, even though I've now experienced it on two handsets.
A related little glitch I noticed, I'm on T-Mobile, and when I have VoLTE and WiFi calling enabled, Hangouts crashes whenever I enter any text in a message field.
It seems to me the phone is having some issue syncing/connecting with Google's play services/servers. I've tried restarting and clearing the cache on both Google Play Services and the Play Store, both of which I've also verified are up to date. My OS is up to date as well. I have recreated the problem on multiple Wi-Fi networks as well as over cellular data.
Does anyone have any insight into what might be causing this? I really like the phone aside from this major issue...
Hello!
I have trouble with my One plus 6 t receiving text messages. I receive them a day late, all coming through at the same time in a bulk of messages the next day. I changed my sim card so T mobile doesn't seem to be the cause of it. Are these problems because I rooted my phone? If so what is the solution? Thank you!
My 6T is also rooted and at one point I has service issues (on Verizon) I tried all my mods one at a time till I figured out witch mod caused it and I was shocked to find out it was my substratum themes messing with something. Once removed all was grand. Hope this help. Go one by one through any mods in place disabling them see if it helps.

The problem is that I have a lot of apps...Did you disable them one by one? And also I realise that I receive the delayed messages 1 day after so it's not easy to check. So the problem comes from the fact that my phone is rooted? Also when I use the camera my phone closes sometimes, like 30 sec after...Very weird. Does all this come from the rooting? Never heard of this problem before.
Yes I did dilisabled one at a time and rebooted after each one. And for text delay who is your carrier I'm on Verizon and mine was delayed for a hour or so till I figured it out I'd quick text my self hi from my own number and hit home to close the messages app out so I could time the reply time.
This helped me also.

I don't think so, I've been using Google messenger since I got this phone without issues whatsoever!

Try turning off battery Optimization See if that helps, Could be just a delay with your signal... Had that happen before, I had full signal but everything was delayed.
I have similar issue to receive delayed messages after the latest Open Beta 12. Stock message app on unrooted 6T.

Hello,
So the problem comes from the fact my phone is rooted? Yesterday it was impossible to take a video correctly for example my phone was shutting of every 30 seconds, and the mobile phone network bar disappeared, then came back and so on, like if I was losing the network every 30 seconds. I'll try to do a video of this

This is not normal. I've been rooted for months and do not have these problems. There is something else wrong
Just being rooted wouldn't be the issue. Sometimes it's honestly as simple as resetting your network settings. As for camera issues have you modified your camera in any way, possibly added a magisk module or something that isn't compatible with our phones, outdated modules can sometimes cause issues as well. It's hard to pinpoint but rooting isn't the issue as these phones were designed for rooting. It's something else entirely. You said your on T-Mobile, was it branded T-Mobile? They like to put their own bloated apps on phones that could probably cause issues too. This is why I went straight to the actual company. You get more up to date and their warranties better than tmobiles. Without knowing what's on your phone I can just speculate. But no just rooting and unlocking bootloader isn't causing this issue

I bought it from One plus directly, not T mobile. I resetted the network settings a lot of times and it still does the same thing. I noticed it happens more when several applications are opened, like when I watch a youtube video and do something at the same time. But even after closing youtube app and all my other apps, it does the same thing. On magisk I have: Busybox for Android, Energized protection, Google product sans, IOS 12.1 emoji, systemless hosts, viper4android, youtubevanced.
I've noticed that being on WiFi causes phone network issues (e.g., phone calls going straight to voicemail, text messages being delayed). This is with WiFi calling disabled, and a non-rooted phone. Really not sure what's going on here, especially because when it happens, my network signal is just fine. But if I disable WiFi, the delayed texts come in immediately. Super annoying.
This is on T-Mobile, latest beta (I think version 11).

I do not see this wifi call option on my one plus 6t.
I have these options: "turn on Wi-Fi automatically" , "Smart Wi fi switcher", "scanning always available", nothing else

It's in an overly annoying menu to find lol. Settings -> Wi-Fi and Internet -> SIM & Network -> SIM 1 (T-Mobile (for me)) -> then under Enhanced Communication you'll see "Wi-Fi Calling"

Nope, it still doesn't work. Also the youtubevanced app disappeared, I am not able to use it anymore, don't know what is happening with my phone
