Flashable FM Radio? - Moto E4 Questions & Answers

I am running the AOKP custom rom and was just wondering if there was something I could flash to get an FM Radio that uses the headphones as an antenna?
I noticed there was a thread in 05-04-2018 asking about it. Nearly a year later, and idk still

[Q] FM Radio CM6

I have noticed some new CM6 builds with FM Radio. I thought that sense was required. Can someone post the apk or version information for the radio that works with CM6.1
FM works on cm6 builds now thanks to miui team. They worked with cyanogen to port it to cm. The FM needs some work on the framework and kernel. I don't think you can do much with the apk. You need the latest cm6 to get to work.

How do I know I am using the right radio?

How do I know I am using the right radio?
Hi everyone I am going flash my first custom rom (RCMix HD v5.9.7) tonight. I was told to use the radio that works best for me, but how do I know am I using the correct one? What will happen if I use a wrong one?
Should I flash radio before or after custom rom?
Thanks
My Desire HD:
Baseband version
12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2
Software number
1.75.351.2
You always can flash radio rom if you have Radio S-OFF.
For mor information : Look here
btw: I use this radio rom: "04th April 2011: Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 - Unknown source" from the thread with matching RIL and I also have RcMixHD 5.9.7 running on my DHD. Works fine.

Thanks for your reply.
I understand I can always flash a new radio, but how do I know I flashed a correct one?
I mean what would happen if I flashed a wrong one? Like some part of my phone will not work? Or it will be very slow? Or sth else?
Thanks again

Simply, put if it works without getting in the way you have the right radio. The perfect radio for you depends on many things; network, geographical location , usage patterns etc. my advice would be stick with the recommended one for your ROM and change it only if you have issues or a better radio, for your situation, is released.

There is no "right" one. Almost all of them will work with any ROM to some degree.
It's just that some work better than others (better signal, better battery life).
We haven't really come up with an objective way of judging this yet so it's best to try one or two out and see which one works the best for you. None of them "won't" work though.
For Gingerbread ROMs one of the latest two is probably the best.

Thank you very much!
Is there a particular way to know the perfect match between your radio and RIL? Or is that the same as knowing what radio works best?
As far as I know a RADIO will work with different RILs, but if you want the best performace you should take the one that is recommended.
Quote from jkoljo: "Matching radio and RIL is always a good combination when you think of signal stability and battery consumption. That is why you should flash a matching RIL when you flash a new radio"
In this thread is a list of RADIOs with matching RILs.

FM Radio with ICS

Are there any?
I've tried spirit FM free but never worked properly and would cause random reboots while using it.
Why not use the stock ics fm radio. It works perfectly.
I didn't know there was one yet. My search didn't show anything for the glacier.

Are you on ics rom?
Not atm. I use the radio everyday so I went back to GB when I discovered there wasn't an FM radio on ICS. Which was right after zips started working on creamed glacier.

That's weird. I'm on ics and I had radio. I just deleted since I don't use it. Gb radio and ics Radisson are the same I believe.
Which ROM did you use that had the FM radio?
Hmmm I think I might know why now. I didn't realize you've tried aosp ics. I've tried all sense ics Roma in the dev section and they all have fm radio.
I have been through most of the non-Sense ICS ROMS and some have the FM radio as a ROM app, some do not, but it does not work on any of them. Like you, I'd love to have this as a working feature on these ROMs! Has anyone been able to make Spirit FM work? I tried as well with no luck.

Just download CM7.2 and put Faux's latest CM7 kernel on it
The latest CM7 nightly. Nothing else. I used Faux's kernels for a while but one of them kept on rebooting me so I don't bother with them anymore. Overclocking was sucking up my battery anyway.
Does it is so simple?for example neutrino's rom includes lots or tweaks and patches. They are so unimpprtant? I would doing my radio better because at the moment it isn't the Best! Any suggest? Today i installed cleyms overclock and my atrix seems to work better

Try it. For me, I found that the performance improvements were so small that I preferred to stay up-to-date with stock CM7. My next and probably final ROM will be CM10 when it's stable.
The stock radio is almost always the one you want to stick with. I changed mine once and had to go back.

ROMs don't include radios. You can try other radios but chances are there won't be much of an improvement.
Depends what are expecting from radio. Performance is about the same but GPS lock could be faster, network speed, less battery drain...
Anyway, flashing radio is much more dangerous than rom. If something goes wrong it could brick your phone. Just charge battery, choose right radio, check MD5, don't interrupt process and should be fine.

I'm on my phone so I can't really link things, but go into General of this forum. Goto the Fruitcakes thread. Its like 7 threads down from the top. The radii zips are in there.
Download one, but it in the root of your SD card. Boot into recovery and install it. Then reboot.

I found that with, I think, v24. I also had the same issue with the stock CM7 kernel. faux v23 works well, although I still get the odd reboot.

Is there is a chance for old radio myTouch (2.22.28.25) try an ICS rom?
I've been looking for one that works but everything else is for 6.35 radio. Is there any hope for a trusty phone.
P.S.
In case you didn't notice, I'm doing my best to write in english, thanks for your attention.
