[Q] No 4G on custom roms after leaving the Q Beta - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

I decided to roll back to Pie for a bit so I can enjoy some bug-free experiences and try to test the Pokemon Masters. I've tried to install HavocOS 2.7 Offical GSI and also the official ASiP for the mata.I'm on boost mobile in the US and it seems that neither have the correct apn. For HavocOS, where it says your carrier in the notification bar, it read 310000 and only listed Verizon apns. ASiP said boost, but none of the apns worked. I also tried adding boost apns manually, which still wouldn't let me access 4g. Only 3G. I also tried changing the network type through the settings and through the *#*#4636#*#* menu. I can't figure it out but really want to use HavocOS (or any custom rom really). I'm tired of stock Q for the moment. Any suggestions?
Quick edit: 4G works on stock July Pie release and Q. Also stuck on 4G on LOS 16.
Edit 2: I got back to Pie by removing myself fromt the Q beta using the app and used a fastboot img to roll back. All is fine on stock every time. I've even tried switching out the system.img and replaced it with the HavocOS img in the fastboot package. Installed and ran smooth, but still no 4g no matter what.

How did you return back to pie

I unenrolled via the app and used a fastboot img to roll back. No issues at all on stock Pie. Going to add this info to the OP.

I've tried HavocOS GSI r:44, ASiP for mata and LOS 16 for mata. All with only 3G with everything I listed that I tried in the OP.

Yes. This is the first time I've ever been stuck on 3G and not been able to fix it in any rom.

Are u using magisk by chance?
I always had this issue with custom roms. Figured out if u flash magisk after setting up the rom 4g always works.

I am actually. I will try that once I'm back at home. I already jumped back to Q lol

No luck. Sending this from my 3G only Essential on HavocOS.

My carrier showing 31000 3G means its trying to connect to Verizon... That's why. I can't figure out how to fix it though.

Are you using device specific custom .. or gsi?
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk

I've tried the gsi of Havoc, but also LOS and ASiP specifically for mata. The 31000 service that's actually Verizon instead of Boost or Sprint is only on Havoc.

Are you also on Boost Mobile but showing the 31000 provider?

I am on ting CDMA(sprint structure). Stock ROM shows as boost, los shows sprint. No update prl/profile available in los. Using los w/ microg. /e/ had the same problem, also couldn't read the phones number. Battery is so much better, and I am on WiFi most of the time, so I am sticking with it for now. Stock ROM started freezing, gapps giving lots of problems, the reasons I switched.

This issue is RESOLVED!!

Anyone have band 12 working and if so, which ROM and method of flashing did you use?
I am stuck on band 4 but do have VoLTE showing in the settings, just unable to test it so far.
Thanks in advance!

Can you screenshot the VoLTE settings? I flashed the OTA (sideloaded) but I don't see an option for VoLTE unless it's the setting for "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode".

It is Enhanced 4G LTE Mode of in not mistaking.
I am still yet to see band 12 come up, even while in Orlando which I know has 12 active. Anyone know if there is some provisioning possibly missing?

I am also unable to get band 12 support in Houston on TMobile. Coworker with a Galaxy s6 can get band 12 but I cannot. Have tried the odexed debloated rooted version of MM, stock MM which I then flashed to be rooted and the TruPureXMM rom, but all of them show as using band 4 when checking using LTE Discovery.

Is your signal better? If the phone is using carrier aggregation between 4&12 then it is likely it would only does 4.

No signal improvement, but I'll check and see it it switches over to 12 at my work tomorrow. Coworkers S6 picks up band 12. Also, I went to A&M and am in Houston too. Do you happen to be around the memorial area and pick up Band 12?
So anyone actually with a custom rom is being able to access band12? So far looks like only people on stock not rooted have it.

I pickup band 12 in the memorial area at work. However, I am currently using the Nexus 6p. I am following this thread because I want to get back to the moto x, but need band 12. As far as I am seeing now people who got the OTA/sideloaded it without custom ROM are being able to access band12.
I tried both MM roms and my imei SV is always at 01 - just like on LP which does not allow me to accesss b12.
Anyone found a solution? makes me wonder how custom roms even odexed somehow disable band12.
Maybe once we get the factory images for 6.0 (like the indian firmware) have it already it should be ok or better.
@btafoya did you find a solution yet?

I have a stock rooted Odexed "slightly modified" MM with Band 12 working (and Android Pay).
(my SV is showing 02)
- Restore to stock manually (avoid restoring recovery and last 2 steps: erase user data and flash userdata.img) to avoid erasing you personal data and apps
- Flash OTA manually (in my case I do it in TWRP, stock recovery works too)
- Reboot
- Install and setup Android Pay
- Root using Chainfire's kernel autopatcher SuperSU 2.60
- Apply mods (no increasing ringtone)
- Reboot
- Setup AdAway
Root, No Ads, Band 12, Android Pay, all working.

Stuck on setup after flashing a rom

I have been switching Roms back and forth to see if I liked any but I liked stock better so I flashed a stock rom for moto x pure. It turned on with the Android setup wizard saying welcome and to select a language, after that it tells me to "Select Wi-Fi network" but no wifi networks are showing up and I know my wifi working cause I'm using it on my laptop, it only shows "ADD ANOTHER NETWORK" i press it but nothing happens and don't have a option to skip.

The last rom I was on was cyanogenmod and it was working fine then when I flashed a stock rom that's where the problem came in so I flashed it back to cyanogenmod and the problem came with it.
Sounds like it's time to fastboot back to stock and then start over... Seems to happen from time to time on this device with lots of flashing. Just find the latest factory image for your device, flash with fastboot and verify wifi/mobile data working, then flash TWRP and flash rom. Takes care of the issue most of the time.

I flashed it using twrp, I got the rom from " http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...rom-stock-rooted-debloated-x1575-6-0-t3262242 " if you go all the way down where it says "UPDATE 4:" I downloaded the rooted one, since I didn't have no way to get into my phone I followed step by step instructions from this website " http://rootmygalaxy.net/how-to-unroot-unbrick-moto-x-pure-edition-2015/ " and after finishing the problem was this there but now it deleted twrp
I had many issues trying to flash any of those builds weeks ago which resulted in hours of getting my phone back to a working state. I eventually had to have Motorola send me the latest images which I flashed via fastboot. After that everything worked fine.
After all that labor I went back to du and haven't had a single issue since. Motorola sure made it difficult.

Is anyone successfully running Nougat with Verizon?

I want to use Nougat on my HTC 10. I have the verizon version of the phone, but don't mind converting to any other version if necessary (or just easier) to move to Nougat.
I've been reading for days, but can't find any solid, complete information on how to do this, or really if even possible. I've found lots of pieces of the puzzle, but nothing that lists the steps, or requirements for making this work.
If you know how to get a Verizon phone working on Nougat firmware and have a working phone and data, I'd love to know EXACTLY how you managed to do so. If I can't have advanced calling right now, that's okay with me, but I do need a working phone and data at a minimum.
I've installed PMEUHL_2.28.401.9 firmware and LeeDroid_ROM_Nougat_HTC10_R21, but had to change the phone to SuperCID 1111111 to get it to install. I also had to change the firmware packages' android.txt file to have the MID match the phone (MID2PS650000).
I have everything running, but have no phone or data, so I'm stuck with wifi only at this point.
I don't mind if I have to wipe the phone again to get it working (I'd rather not), so long as I can use the phone on Verizon again.
Is it possible I just need to flash the verizon radio at this point, or do I just need to start from scratch?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Have you tried formatting data?
In TWRP > wipe > format data > (type) yes
(do at own risk, it won't hurt anything, just will wipe your internal. you ARE warned)
------------------
Side note, Advanced Calling only works on one ROM, and that is @santod040 amazing port found here
I run SuperCID all the time, It's suggested to do 22222222 instead of 11111111 but not a biggie at all.
I run Verizon firmware with multirom. I have my stock ROM as primary (this is a must) and then I can flash any N ROM as a secondary.
I have ICE N ROM, Leedroid N ROM, Santods ROM, AOKP MM and CM 14.1 all loaded up and working great with data.
----------------
As for what you want,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70104011&postcount=3
You could wait a little bit longer for it to be released. It's not far away.
For NuSense ROM do we still need to install with data unencrypted? I assume so because I don't think TWRP is updated for Android N. Thanks.
I'm on the new viper 4.3.1 which is N based without upgrading firmware. everything working pretty well and has great tweaks and theming. Give it a shot.
wifi calling and video calling seem to be bugged but the advanced calling is active for hd voice
id do it this way until Verizon updates, itll be soon.
Might just stay on MM, Idk I'm torn. If NuSense has VZW features working bug free I'll give that a shot

On the Downloads tab of the HTC 10 TWRP thread, there is an unofficial version of TWRP v3.0.2.7 which supports Nougat firmware. If you're still on Marshmallow firmware and use a Nougat ROM on it, you still might want to use the official TWRP v3.0.2.6.

When I was running N I couldn't browse the web and be on a phone call simultaneously. Also, HD calling and video calling did work for me. This was on LeeDroid N and I also tried Viper 2.4.0 with the same results.
Viper Nougat 4.x.x works perfectly fine on VZW Marshmallow firmware, except no advanced calling (wifi calling and VoIP).
Make sure to choose 6.0.1 firmware in the last option of Aroma to have fingerprint scanner working, as well as mobile data. (if you are on MM firmware!!) ROM does NOT install firmware.

As the current Nougat Vzw test builds are not 2.28 and aren't typically of the same number as other variants anyways...

Wifi tether xt1625

I finally found a Wi-Fi tether fix for the 1625 variant and will most likely work if other variants have the same problem. When I would enable Wi-Fi tethering through the build.prop change I could enable the tethering but then it would break my camera. I found that on magisk in the download section is a Wi-Fi tethering enabler module which actually works. You don't even have to add the build.prop line. Follow the link below to the magisk thread and download the most recent zip file and Flash it then go to the Play Store and download magisk manager, once you do that go into the download section of magisk the menu (in the upper left corner.) Download the Wi-Fi tether enabler module and you are good to go amazingly it works

Try disabling data before use wifi tethering. It's a common problem already discussed here and can be workaround this way.

Thank you, that didn't work. It still says hotspot turning on forever. And doesn't it need data to use as wifi tether.

You have stock N rom? AFAIK the problem was only existing in custom roms, I had it too,but solved since many versions(before LineageOS)
No stock. Only custom

Which rom?Would be helpful to tell all things exactly what you've installed and which versions. In the op for me it sounds like you have installed n soak test, now you say only custom? I'm a little bit confused now
I installed soak, now in on custom

I'm on LineageOS OMS 13th build and it works very well. I checked your video. I have no clue on which rom you are and which version and why you don't tell...
I'm on aex 3.0 but WiFi tether doesn't work on any N rom. And I've tried with all kernels, exkernel, vegito, quark

Ok, now we have the required information!
Since I have mm firmware lets see if somebody can check if wifi tethering with N firmware is working or not on any nougat custom rom. Let's wait until someone report back.
I've asked on telegram, and here. Everyone's WiFi tether is working, mine is the only weird phone. But it works on mm.

Nevermind, flashed latest lineage oms, and I'm tethering away. Definitely a kernel issue

Stock kernel with supersu 2.79 sr3, broke WiFi tethering. Also elementalx kernel with native cm root broke WiFi tethering. So, stay stock kernel and native cm root to tether.

There's no advice to flash super su on prerooted roms, so be careful what you're flashing that supersu can break some things is already known.
OK. Somehow, WiFi tether and camera are connected. When I use WiFi tether after that trying to use my camera it won't connect and says restart camera.

I add the line "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true" to my build.prop and it fixes WIFI tethering. I have to redo it after each update flash of AICP.

Maybe someone can create a script for Addon.d to automatically append that upon updating the ROM.

Converted T-Mobile Unit Android 10

Recently, I converted my 6t to the international version of the device. Will my device support Android 10? I've read about issues with Play Store certification. Will I need to still wait until T-Mobile accepts A10 and then install it from them?
I thought this was the whole point of switching to the international version, to not have to wait for T-Mobile.
I have upgraded my TMobile OP6T a while ago and I'm using A10 and have zero issues.
I'm using the official 10.3.1 not any custom ROMs. Also using Magisk 20.3, latest TWRP and Omega kernel... Everything is fast and smooth.

A10 will work with your TMO converted device. The one issue is Play Store is Not certified, so Android Pay will not work. This is because TMO has not approved A10 as of yet.

If you root with magisk, and use safteypatch module g-pay works fine. Been using it since 10 was released on converted t-mo
