Hello
Could You tell me does redmi note 7 use microsd in exfat or only fat32?
I have previous redmi note 5 and it support microsd in fat32 only.
Best regards

Thanks. I'm on MIUI Global 10.3.6 and want to use a Samsung 128 GB microSD factory-formated as exFAT. So I will try.

I'm on MIUI 11 now and use a Samsung 256GB SD Card, exFAT of course, no problem at all. I installed it on my phone right after taking it out of its packaging, it works, it's already formatted.
But from experience, some custom kernels can have a problem with this. So I took it out again and formatted manually on my PC as exFAT of course, before putting it back in, no kernel problems.
P.S. I also used 128GB exFAT when I was in MIUI 10, no problem ... Same on my Pocophones, all good.
Using Morfuz 3.4 kernel on my Note 7, Franco Kernel on my Pocophones

128 Gb exFAT worked in MIUI Global 10.3.6 and now work in MIUI Global 11.0.4
128GB exfat vs fat32
My phone (running MIUI 11) won't format 128GB sandisk - phone reboots and gets stuck on Redmi screen. Won't recognize 128GB exfat at all. However works fine when I format the card in Fat32 in win10.

Technically it should work even all the way upto 16GB. But it really depends on what you put on the card.
I have a 64 Gb Sandisk Micro SD card with an extFAT partition that works ok on my Rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 handset. The micro SD is however not recognised on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Reading through the forum I see it is possible to use a 64 Gb MicroSD card on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. What I am not clear on is what I need to do to get the 64Gb MicroSD card to be recognised by my Tab 2. Can you clarify if I need to do one or more of the following :
Root the Tab 2 ?
Convert partition to fat32 ?
Change to another ROM ?
Or is there something else I need to do ?

You can try KK-Boot core + exFAT addon. Are you still on 4.0.4 ICS?

Yes I am still on 4.04. Should change this ?
Remember there is one downside, don't plan to put any file on it that is 4GB or larger. It won't work and will put a lot of lag on your tab. Been there, done that...

The main difference is the capacity, as HC stands for high capacity. If you want more differences, the easiest way is to Google SDHC, or use the Wikipedia...
Btw, I wasn't planning on hitting that thanks button...
And about the thread: I've never heard of 64 GB sim card...
Having had my tablet 2 weeks I ran in to an issue last night where my microSD card will no longer load onto my tablet. It works fine on my PC. This was after I had flashed CIVs 1.7 kernel which lead me to beleive that was the issue. After trying a 32gb card which worked fine I decided to do a search on the web to see if it was the card that was at fault and came accross this...

I'm going to call the number this afternoon and see if I can get a replacement.

Civs 1.7 removed native exfat support, if you go back to a stock kernel it'll work fine (im assuming your card is formatted exfat)
You can also use stickmount to mount an exfat partition on Civs
or
You can format your card to be fat32 and it'll be natively supported in almost any kernel (google " how to format a 64gb in fat32")

Read up on Stickmount. although it sounds good at first, it would require me to change the destination folder for all of my mounted apps as it looks like the mounted location is different to what was used in the stock kernel. As such I will most likely reformat to fat32 despite its limitation in files sizes (No large movie files for me).

Man all my androids have been chewing through SD cards I don't know why. And I buy the 32 gb class ten expensive ones and they tuck them up weekly.

I have ScanDisk micro SD cards in all of my phones (64GB Class 10) tablets (32GB Class U1) and Samsung series 9 solid HD laptop (128GB Class U1) and have had no issues at all over all the time I have used them.
Did anyone try SanDisk ultra 64gb class 10 on note 8? I didn't understand if our tablets support them or not. Please help before I buy it

Had a 64gb since update to 4.2.2 also supports ExFat which enables file sizes larger than 4gb (which is the restriction with Fat32).
I hope I noticed, since I've had a 64GB card in it for several months now.

I use 64gb micro sd card in 10.1 cm, only that I had to format it to FAT32. but it works very well.
U can use 64 gb card with first firmware but you have to format it to fat32
64gb cards using Exfat format as default and exfat is supported from first 4.2.2 update (10.3.A.0.423) so you dont have to format it to fat32 anymore..

Yes, sony is a bit late (maybe for certification proccess?)
2011 Xperia (eg. Play, Ray, arc) is support 64GB microsd, even sony say not compatible.
Excellent news!
Can now re-format my 64gb card and actually have BR films that I don't have to spend hours compressing to under 4gb
One of the bigger reasons I upgraded to Marshmallow was because of the Adoptable Storage which allowed you use your external SD-Card as Internal Storage. This beefed up your storage (16 GB Internal + 32 GB SD = 48 GB total) and you know, it's a cool feature if you have lots of apps or heavy games.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find this feature. Navigating to SD-Card only allowed me to format the card as portable storage (not internal). Just wanted to confirm if it's the case with other people.
Same opinion...
On the European Beta (B805): just one time flex storage worked for me (but there was several bugs).
I made an full reset of the phone and remove any partition on the SD Card. JUST ONE TIME i had the possibility to use the SD card as an internal storage.
After the SD format i had just only one storage and 38gb free.
PS: i had some bugs: if i downloaded any file with an app i could'nt see it without to reboot the phone
after reboot i had some app who said they aren't installed :s
but i don't know why i can't anymore use the sd card as the flex storage....
Could it be because of the file system on your card? You could try formatting the card as ext4.

That's certainly not the case. Android System will automatically format it as ext4 and encrypt it so that the card will be only usable in that specific device.
However, I was able to set my card as internal somehow using terminal commands but the end results were quite not satisfactory. Free space on my internal went to 0 bytes and thus I couldn't install apps from Play Store.
I can confirm that adoptable storage does not work on EMUI 4.1 on the Honor 8. I've heard that the EMUI 5.0 on Nougat (currently in beta) will work but word isn't officially out.

How so? If you fill up all your app storage with big games, having the option for adoptable storage is better.
Anyway, Huawei is known for not using app to SD on their devices so I wouldn't expect this simple Marshmallow feature to even show up on Nougat. Since we know that even the new Mate 9 won't let your either.

if you select sd card as default games obb files are installed on sd card. I dont see how you will run out of storage space.
I have hitman, modern combat4 andmost wanted installed and still have 7 gb free on internal storage. the games are on sd card.
