Technically it should work even all the way upto 16GB. But it really depends on what you put on the card.

Using 64 Gb SIM on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

I have a 64 Gb Sandisk Micro SD card with an extFAT partition that works ok on my Rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 handset. The micro SD is however not recognised on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Reading through the forum I see it is possible to use a 64 Gb MicroSD card on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. What I am not clear on is what I need to do to get the 64Gb MicroSD card to be recognised by my Tab 2. Can you clarify if I need to do one or more of the following :
Root the Tab 2 ?
Convert partition to fat32 ?
Change to another ROM ?
Or is there something else I need to do ?

You can try KK-Boot core + exFAT addon. Are you still on 4.0.4 ICS?

Thanks for your reply.
Yes I am still on 4.04. Should change this ?
Remember there is one downside, don't plan to put any file on it that is 4GB or larger. It won't work and will put a lot of lag on your tab. Been there, done that...

The main difference is the capacity, as HC stands for high capacity. If you want more differences, the easiest way is to Google SDHC, or use the Wikipedia...
Btw, I wasn't planning on hitting that thanks button...
And about the thread: I've never heard of 64 GB sim card...

scandisk microSD card warning

Having had my tablet 2 weeks I ran in to an issue last night where my microSD card will no longer load onto my tablet. It works fine on my PC. This was after I had flashed CIVs 1.7 kernel which lead me to beleive that was the issue. After trying a 32gb card which worked fine I decided to do a search on the web to see if it was the card that was at fault and came accross this...

Thought I would share it.
I'm going to call the number this afternoon and see if I can get a replacement.

Civs 1.7 removed native exfat support, if you go back to a stock kernel it'll work fine (im assuming your card is formatted exfat)
You can also use stickmount to mount an exfat partition on Civs
or
You can format your card to be fat32 and it'll be natively supported in almost any kernel (google " how to format a 64gb in fat32")

Read up on Stickmount. although it sounds good at first, it would require me to change the destination folder for all of my mounted apps as it looks like the mounted location is different to what was used in the stock kernel. As such I will most likely reformat to fat32 despite its limitation in files sizes (No large movie files for me).

Man all my androids have been chewing through SD cards I don't know why. And I buy the 32 gb class ten expensive ones and they tuck them up weekly.

I have ScanDisk micro SD cards in all of my phones (64GB Class 10) tablets (32GB Class U1) and Samsung series 9 solid HD laptop (128GB Class U1) and have had no issues at all over all the time I have used them.
Did anyone try SanDisk ultra 64gb class 10 on note 8? I didn't understand if our tablets support them or not. Please help before I buy it

@hertsjoatmon: would you mind changing the thread title - right now it suggests faulty SanDisk cards, which apparently is not the case here

I am using a 64gb Sandisk Ultra. It works just fine. I had to format it to fat32 for it to be recognised by this kernel and CWM though.

Questions for owners of the 32GB (or more) versions

1. Can you use 'normal" ROMs and recoveries? Any different experience on getting root and other "goodies"? Any problems in custom ROMs or similar system stuff? Any problems in any normal (or system/root) program?
2. What is your overall feeling - was it worth it?

Dear xclub_101,
I own a GT-I9500 32 gb version...
1. Yes, you can use official roms, custom roms and kernels also recoveries without any problems... Root, etc. all are working... I am using Phoniex Rom and Adam kernel also Philz recovery... Very happy...
2. It really worths so go for 32 gb version... You will have around 23 gb free space after a fresh format... If you add a 64 gb sdcard then you can fly to the moon...

The only time difference is that if you every need to flash a PIT file, you'll need the one for the 32gb version. Or your phone will have the memory partition of a 16gb version.

Yes, that was to be expected - but currently the difference from 16GB to 32GB is about 150 (EUR or USD, depending on your zone), while a 64GB microSD is just 50, so you are basically paying 12x the price/GB
So let me rephrase:
- are you using anything that really fills your internalSD partition?
- is there anything to dual-boot the S4? since on S3 that was one of my main internalSD uses, and even with that I never got to less than 4GB free!
- are the 32GB eMMC versions faster in any way?
- are the 32GB eMMC versions better in any way at error correction?

They are NOT the same kind of flash.
Try to speed test both and you will see why.
Internal flash read/writes at about 50 mb/s while external sdcard write at about 10 (class 10) or less.

Of course internal vs external are not the same
I was actually asking if internal 16GB is the same (speed, reliability / error correction) as internal 32GB!
Oh, and extra-note - there is a 64GB Sandisk extreme that claims 90mb/s read and 40mb/s write or so (non-phone tests) - I doubt S3 can get/keep those rates on it and it is twice more expensive than the 64GB Sandisk Ultra - which in very real-world tests is around 20mb/s read, over 10 mb/s write.
Oops. Sorry then.

[Q] low internal memory in the new nand roms ?!

Hi Guys
I am in a really deep problem so I will explain as much as I can
I have the EU htc hd2 and I tried so many roms from xda threads
first I was happy that my phone can run android (it was froyo 2.2 by the way)
I had big internal memory fast performance everything
Now I have a huge problem I want to install the new roms like 4.0 , 4.1 and 4.2
But I can't install it on nand as I must make a partition like 250 mb or 300 mb so there is too small memory for me to install apps
So I read other threads that talked about this problems and they recommended to use the [email protected] method
But the problem that they said that solution for sd cards that have class 6 or above and Mine IS 4 :crying:
So I appreciate any help from you guys cause you are the best on the internet and the hd2 is a legend
sorry for my bad English I am from the middle east "Egypt"
No, your SD card doesn't need to be any specific class. Class 4 will do just fine.
I think you're talking about NativeSD? Well, even if you are, class 4 is actually good for NativeSD.
Either way, your sd card will do the job. Happy flashing.
