Hi, I've been looking to reset my g6 for awhile now but unfortunately factory reset fails every attempt and I don't have a valid download mode partition (borked it with lgup back when I was testing a root procedure) does anyone know how I can reset? I've been looking at the possibility of forcing edl (qdloader 9008/9006) but that feels a little extreme to me and I wanted to do a quick sanity check here before moving on. Ideas anyone?
For the record I'm somewhat experienced and I'm not "just doing it wrong" my download mode partition is running code from a v20 and is not bootable.
If I proceed with the reset via edl I'll update y'all
Thanks for any help!
The test points didn't trigger edl. Little help?
Can someone please help me out here, I can't run system updates. I can't factory reset. I don't like being stuck in this scenario. It's functional day to day but not being able to reset sucks. Not being able to have the newest security updates also sucks.

Hi everyone, I'm a new member to the forum, but have been a follower for quite some time.
Let's start by introducing my device wich is:
EEEPad Transformer TF101G with ICS running the latest WW_9.2.2.6 firmware.
The device is rooted and running ASUS stock recovery.
Everything was working fine until I decided to do a Cold Boot.
It got stuck on the cold boot menu for like 3 hours and I decided to turn it off.
After that it got stuck on the inicial Asus splash screen. I forced it to turn off a couple a times and it eventually booted up.
I knew something wasn't right, so I backed up all my files and applications.
Then decided to do a factory reset through POWER + VOL-
After that it never booted again, and after a few seconds on the splash screen I hear a click noise, like the hard drive is turning off.
When I try force it to turn off, it starts up again automatically.
I've tried to flash it through nvflash, but being a TF101G it also means it is sbkv3, wich is not supported by nvflash.
Also tried boot recovery tools, but it won't even start, because as I try to connect it to the computer through adb mode, after that "click" noise, the device becomes disconnected.
I didn't try any dangerous applications and stuff like that, just decided to do a simple cold boot, the device is a week old.
If I'm posting this in the wrong section I apologize.
And hope someone can come up with a good idea.
Thanks in advance.
Obviously somethings corrupted and in my opinion the only way to fix it would be to reflash the rom in apx mode using nvflash but that doesn't seem to be possible for your device as of yet but if everything is still stock maybe you can unroot the device (or play dumb) and get it replaced under warranty?
I don't think I can unroot it, since it won't run abd mode.
I'm trying to find a way of not having to send it to warranty.
Saving it as a last resort...

Eek.. since it was factory resetted I think you need to send it to warranty. Not much we can do now with just a splash screen on sbkv3
I don't consider myself an advanced user.
But I really did search everywhere and I got the idea that only with APX and without a compatible NVFlash I was screwed.
But I still had some hope.
Do you think they will give me trouble because of it being rooted?
I my opinion I don't think they will ever know, because It won't boot, It won't run recovery mode (stock) and nothing else at all, the only way to fix it is to flash it, but maybe I'm just being naive.
I treated it with all the care in the world, so only by divine intervention it is a hardware problem.
But you never now...
you should be ok (should)......
i done pretty much the same thing to a customers TF and Asus fixed it no problem.
The fact is that I actually didn't do anything wrong.
Just a cold boot that didn't work, followed by a a factory reset...
How long did it take for yours to get fixed?
Guys, I was an idiot about this, but I am at the end of my rope and could really use some help to try to fix things.
Here is what I did incorrectly:
Used TWRP to flash the wrong ROM
Created a backup in CWM format, not TWRP, so I can't restore it.
I have tried the three major methods on these forums multiple times to try to unbrick, with the following results:
Flashing official factory firmware with LG Launcher got hung up at the 12 s mark (when it transitioned to the "downloading software" step) for upwards of 15 min before I exited
Using the KDZ method seemed to work and actually got me really excited! But the "firmware update" progress bar on the download mode screen didn't move and a reset only ended up back at TWRP
Using the TOT method also appeared to start to work, but it failed because the build/dll didn't match. I have the VS98011A_01 version and used the TOT that I found in the thread.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have the LG bootlogo coming up, if so try this:
(Something similar happened to mine, and I hope this will help.)\
Turn off phone, then when off, hold down power and volume down button until it reaches the LG logo and then release and hold it down again, if that doesn't work, when just hold it down until you see a screen that says something like: Hard reset/ factory reset. For me it took me to my recovery screen, where I just flashed a older ROM onto it, and you should be fine. I then later flashed a recovery file. I hope this helps, and if you need it any clearer, just reply :good:
Also from reading this, try flashing another ROM, if you have one present on the device, which will then allow you to boot-up then restore.
Hi Folks,
I had TWRP installed and updated cm11 with a new nightly. I did a wipe cache and restarted. Phone got stuck on the LG screen. I could not get into recovery after this. I then used the LG support tool and flashed using 'Upgrade Recovery' option.
Phone now is stuck on same LG boot screen but now LED flashes also.
Can anyone help? I am really stuck here guys. :crying:
Cheers,
Trev
Log seems to say it worked but still stuck on boot screen.

Doesn't the hard reset combination get you into recovery?

Did you select 3GQCT instead of CDMA which is selected by default ?
See if you can get into recovery once again.
Some tips: Hold power and down to make device restart, then let go... As soon you see the lg logo hold down and power. Timing is the key. There are sometimes I think I don't have recovery but in reality i do. Its all user error. If that don't work, try get in download mode. And flash zvc tot and get back to the stock.

Do a hard reset. it helped me yesterday. It's just that the hard reset key sequence for KK roms is different than how it was with JB. try to google it because I lost the topic.

Hey,
I'm in the same case but the R&D soft say there is an error. Plus I can't acces the hard reset menu nor recovery...
I can't also see my device on recovery as I only see in the device manager : LGE Android Net USB Serial Port.
And this is like that when I try to boot or when I'm in download mode.. Any help would be great...
PS : I try to make a restore with the LG Mobile Support Tool (the true one) but will only get answer in 6hours (best connection ever!!)...
Edit1 : That worked! I get out of the download mode and let the software do is job and there is new! Now I have to put a pin /password but I don't know which one ^^' ... I've tried to go back in download mode or hard reset mode but it don't work..
Edit2 : I don't get how but I manage to get in download mode. After that I perform a restore to another kdz and now I'm using the factory reset which seems to take a lot of time..
Thanks for the replies folks. Got it sorted out. This seemed to be the only way to get it sorted :

Nexus 7 (2012)
4.4.4 Stock
KTU84P
HW Version - ER3
Bootloader Version - 4.23
Locked Bootloader
Not Rooted
I have a Nexus 7 sitting in front of me that was dropped off by my aunt in hopes that I could repair it for her. It doesn't look too promising, but I thought I'd consult the mighty fine people here on XDA before I give her the bad news. Here's what she says happened. Yesterday, while preforming day to day activities on it (browsing internet, Skyping, Facebook, etc), the device completely froze. After holding down the Power Button and forcing it to shutdown, she booted it back up. Everything seemed to functioned properly for about 30s - 1min when, at that time, the device turned off and rebooted on its own. After booting back up, it started to repeat this cycle. Basically getting stuck in a bootloop. I personally have never witnessed a bootloop like this before, where the device successfully boots up completely into the OS before turning off and repeating. I'm more used to dealing with ones where it might go as far as the manufacturer logo and then repeats. So anway, as I stated, I only have a 30s - 1min window where I can make changes in order to troubleshoot. The first thing I figured I should do was to go into "About Device", turn Developer Mode on and get USB Debugging enabled. I was able to do this and used "adb devices" to confirm its connection to my computer before it looped again. After its next bootloop I headed back into settings because I wanted to take note of the Android version she was running. As I was navigating there, I noticed that the Developer Options were no longer active. Basically as if I hadn't enabled them yet. This made me start thinking that changes being made on the device weren't sticking. I decided to make a few visual changes to the home screen and see if they were still there after the next bootloop. I uninstalled an app, rearranged icon placement, and changed the wallpaper. Once it shutdown and booted back up again, everything was back to the way it was before the changes had been made. The app I had uninstalled was still there, the wallpaper reverted back, and the icons were back in their original location. At this point I decided to see if I could reboot into Safe Mode. Unfortunately, this doesn't work. I am able to get the reboot to Safe Mode confirmation box and tap "Ok" but it remains in Normal mode when it boots back up. I eventually tried to boot into recovery and preform a Factory Reset. I was able to get into recovery and reset the Nexus. Or so I thought. Instead of seeing a Device Setup screen after it wiped, like I assumed I would, it booted up and still had all the data on it. There were no errors during the wipe and it was confirmed with "Data wipe complete." afterwards.
I am absolutely lost. I've never dealt with such an unusual issue before. Especially with it not even reacting to a complete data wipe. So, just to recap . . . I only have 30s - 1min available to interact with the OS before it reboots itself, any changes made during that time don't stick, Device is successful booting into Stock Recovery, and I can successfully get a Fastboot connection when booting to the Bootloader.
Luckily she has come to terms that this might not get fixed and has decided to go a head an order a newer 2013 model. I'd still like to try any solutions that you all might have. Just in case there is a slight glimmer of hope.
Oh, and one last thing I should mention. I tried to see if I could get the bootloader unlocked but it didn't work. This is the first Nexus I've ever had in my possesion, so I'm not really familiar with the tools available for it. I found WugFresh's Root Toolkit and attempted to Unlock with it. The process seemed to go as it should and I didn't receive any errors on the tablet or in the software. However, in the end, it didn't make any changes to the bootloader.
same problem
I have the same problem as you.
Did you find a solution?
Can anybody help us?
Thanks.
I have a similar problem, but I think mine is related to the bootloader.
I'm stuck on 3.34 and that's where it fails ever time I try Wug's Nexus Tool Kit.
Have you tried Nexus Tool Kit yet?

I have tried factory reset from recovery, no errors while wiping but when device restarts nothing has happened: I only have a 30s-1min of old system with all my data and apps or directly bootloop.
Also I have tried flash factory images with Nexus Tool Kit and directly from bootloader. No errors while flashing, apparently has flashed new image system. When device restarts nothing has happened: bootloop or my old system with data and apps for 30s before restart.
Myself and a few others are having the same problem... please keep us updated if you find anything out.

As the title says, I cannot get my LG G6 to boot into twrp. Whenever I do the button combination to get into it, I get the screen prompting me to do a factory reset or whatever and when it's done it boots straight back into the OS and the second time I do it, it asks me the same thing but this time it displays the TWRP screen for a few seconds and reboots into a factory reset OS. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks.

What model you running? If it's the h872 t-mobile I'd look for your answer in the root thread for that particular device. It's being worked on. If you go there and have that model look for posts with my name. I went through it myself. There are others who had different outcomes using different methods. Mine are related to rooted 20a for that model.
