Missing sound effects (enhancements) in Samsung ONE UI - Samsung Galaxy S10e Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi,
Recently I bought Samsung phone with ONE UI 1.1 and was shocked when I found out it lacks my favourite "Tube Amp Pro" sound effect. I was using it many years across all my Galaxys, but now its gone. BTW, I hate Dolby Amos! I hate It!!! Please, if someone could help me bring it back or install old Sound Alive apk without root I would appreciate it. Thanks.
P.S. Do you guys also miss it?

I recently switched from A Note 9 to an S10e and was shocked to find that the double press home button shortcut on the Gear S3 did not have the TIMER as a choice option, or it did on the Note 9.
I contacted Samsung and was told that options are different based on phone model.
WTF!

I am facing the same issue with my Galaxy m51. It is shocking that Samsung team is neglecting the audio department. Without the Tube Amp Pro, sound through headphones are lacking deep bass. Sound coming through headphones makes me feel like listening to some cheap chinese phone. Also the Dolby Atmos is not much helpful.

Galaxy S4 i9505 sound mods?

Hey guys! I recently got a s4 i9505 and I really enjoy the phone, I've rooted it, know how to flash etc.
But I got to be honest, I dont think the audio on the Galaxy is that very good, I flashed the beats eq mod
and I was wondering if there are any other / better mods? I mean the eq is always on in the process list
but the EQ doesnt even kick in unless the song ends by itself and the next song plays, really annoying!
Anyways, I'd greatly appreciate any tips on cool apps / mods but first and foremost I'd really like some help
modding the audio!
Thanks for the help!
try this , i've been using this and my sound has never been good.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223

Whilst I did not have any complain with my snapdragon 800 powered Note 3 I gotta say I just love the music player and audio quality of my G3 more with its astonishingly clear sound through headphones.
One of the reasons I bought this phone. Listening through headphones (ultrasone dj1 pro) about 5h/day.
According to the OP the best sounding phone is the HTC M8 & HTC Mini One :crying:
LG is making some pretty competitive phones nowadays!

V4A is a piece of crap. If something is is for everything then it's for nothing. How can something that's made as a universal sound enhancement can work well throughout all kinds of phones with totally different hardware? I always say the best is stock! Designed specially for your phone with particular hardware. In some cases a port can do well such as xperia walkman and audio libs but not always.

That's like saying vandersteen speakers can only run with a tube amp or it just won't work. Not correct my friend. I have worked for R&D in a state of the art audio company my family owned and I currently work for a high end stereo company. If you know what your doing this app can greatly improve how your phone sounds. Especially with badly compressed files. But I'm not trying to change your mind. Just want you to know im semi educated.

I'm just sayin' that software created for a particular hardware is better and more efficient than any universal crap. I like the sound quality in G3 as I liked beats audio in m7 I owned before and I can say that there was no sound enhancement that was better than stock. I use Sony MDR1-RNC headphones. No offence though

It's kinda like adding a nice eq to an existing sound system. No offense taken. I can see what your saying but it is a pretty decent app. Better than beats or the Harmon edition of htc. I had both the m7 and m8 and used viper on both just to get it to sound the way I like. Plus it's free so if ya end up hating it just uninstall the driver and move on. Again no offence taken. Hope your day is going well.

There is a huge clarity improvement with Viper through my Shure SE535's and my AKG's.
@Mahapederdon There are two update files, which version do you use? I used the 4.x version before but that didn't work.... So I assume you are using the 2.3+ version?
Electrical Noise Through Headphones While Charging
Is anyone experiencing faint electrical noises, related to touch screen operations while you have headphones connected and the G3 is charging? I've tested two different sets of (wired) headphones and am experiencing the same issue in both cases. It only seems to occur when power is connected when charging. However, I listen to podcasts or music when going to sleep, while my phone is charging. So, this is a definite issue/concern for me. Any feedback would be appreciated.

[DISCUSSION] Here is my One M8 set-up, share yours too, and some new info.

Ok I guess I'll begin by sharing the new info, which doesn't seem to be out there.
The newest Stable release of Sense 6 toolbox works with my Sense 7 (ARHD 41.0) set up. It had no glitches, and a couple selections were blocked out, so I'm guessing they were bugged ones which the dev didn't want to make available to a stable release.
What I find interesting is that it says that Sense 7 is still not supported, but to me it worked perfectly. If you guys could tell me whether it works for you too (mainly sense 7 mods), and if any of you found bugs please share what caused the bug so that other users can avoid the same bug.
Now for my set up:
Recovery: TWRP
ROM: ARHD 41.0
Sense version: Sense 7
Xposed Framework (yes/no): yes
If yes, Modules:
> ActivityForceNewTask
> APM+
> ChromePie
> Fix Lollipop Memory Leak (not sure if it actually works)
> Greenify
> Secure Settings (used with Tasker)
> Sense 6 Toolbox
Additional theming/modding apps worth mentioning:
Root Booster
(it offers an option of speed, stability or battery saving, it works by changing the CPU governor and memory heap size to achieve desired result)
Recently
(developed by Chainfire, if you don't know, he's the guy behind SuperSu, say no more. Worth checking out, since it improves the new recent apps section introduced with Lollipop)
Viper4Android FX
(if you like good sound, this is the app you need. Boomsound is already good as it is, this makes it even better)
OK guys, it's now your turn share your set up, and give your recommendations
Sent from my Nexus 9 through XDA app
Ok so what got me was seeing your setup, made me want to lookup Root Booster, and at it high rating on play, going to try it. So, here is my thanks.
Renovate Milestone 5.0
Rom Version 3.28.401.7
Android 4.4.4
HTC Sense 6.0
TWRP 2.8.6 I think, didn't reboot
S-Off, yup I paid for the sunshine thing and it worked just fine.
Xposed Framework 58/54
If yes, Modules: (and why I use them)
All Notification Expanded (For making notifications actionable)
Always Expandable Notifications (For making notifications actionable)
App Settings (custom App DPI)
Clean Lockscreen (removes the 123 from lockscreen keypad and other lockscreen cleanups)
Google Play Music Listen Later (sets default tabs for google play)
Greenify (hibernates running apps)
MinMin Guard (cuts down on ads, I don't think it works sometimes)
NoSafeVolumeWarning (removes headphone volume warning when cranking it)
PlayStore Changelog (reveals full changelog instead of summary at play store)
PlayStore Fixes (sends standard DPI to google play to make some apps compatible)
PlayPermissionsXposed (makes google play show all new persmissions)
Sense 6 Toolbox (A must have for tweakers)
Sense 6 Lockscreen Mods (more lockscreen cleanup stuff)
VolumeSteps+ (change number of volume clicks from 7 to whatever, more control over volume up/down)
neXus navbarz (I needed may navbar to be just the right size for me)
xRenamer (renames most apps on home screen for a cleaner homescreen)
A few other must haves worth mentioning:
Viper4Android FX (global sound enhancer, can't have a phone without this)
Customizable HEQS from Renovate Portal (clean icons for the quick settings)
Rom Toolbox (for completely removing and freezing some unneeded apps)
Rocket Player and iSyncr (ifyou manage your music in iTunes)
And of course, the XDA forum app !!!
Forgive any typos, tried to bust this out as quick as i could
SYSTEM
Recovery: Materialised TWRP 2.8.6.0
Firmware: (Correct at all times with the base I use)
S-OFF (yes/no): yes
ADSP: 56.2.2 (True HK)
ROM: InsertCoin 7.1.4 (updating later on)
Android version: 5.0.2 (closer to Sense 7 base than 5.0.1, some minor visual differences and flashlight toggle is officially in QS regardless of the ROM.)
Sense version: Sense 7
Xposed Framework (yes/no): yes
Modules: Youtube Adaway
Physical Button Music Control (The one in IC takes too long to change the song for my taste, and it also has a bug I noticed so I use this Module as an alternative)
Also I use the standard Adaway app to get rid of ads in free apps.
AUDIO
Dragon-Fi Audio (System files only, Dolby and beats skipped)
Harman Kardon Audio (I only use Clari-Fi)
Material Viper4Android
PowerAMP Music Player (DVC and ALL EQs and enhancements turned OFF, I use V4A for EQ and Enhancements, using PowerAMP barebones like this still sounds better than HTC Player and Google Music because of its audio engine) PowerAMP Skin I Use
Earphones: Monster Turbine Pro Copper Edition (Audiophile earphones, the only earphones Monster ever made that were actually good, stupidly Monster discontinued them for an unknown reason to me, so now Monster is no longer worth a damn for me in headphones.)

Just letting you know VolumeSteps+ does not work on most HTC ROMs/Devices, if you actually listen closely and pay attention you will notice that you add volume steps but listen closely and you will notice the volume won't change at all on some of those steps, the developer even said this disclaimer, and its known on HTC, the Audio System is different then AOSP or anything like that, so its pointless to have it, it adds the visual steps but in reality it doesn't work, in media for example you still have 15 steps but if you make it 30, then you still have 15 and require a bunch of pointless button presses to get to volume step 15.
Ooh thank you guys getting better replies than I expected.
@Viper4713, does Sense 7 feel stable to you? Because as far as I'm aware it's a port taken from the M9 but stuck on top of an M8 Base. Do you believe there will be any changes when HTC releases the official M8 version?
Also since you mentioned headphones, I got me a cheap £15 Panasonic HJE190.
I'm a huge audiophile, and a power listener, 70% of my day I have my headphones in my ears. In fact I got them in now haha.
The problem I have with most headphones is that most are cheaply built (even expensive ones), and don't last more than 2 months with me. So I chose to always buy cheap ones, eventually, I found a pair of HJC120 on the ground, battered up, as if someone threw them away. So I took them in, and used them since my previous pair had broken that morning lol.
The little sucked lasted me for 8 months, more than any other headphones I have ever used EVER. + the sound was good
So when they broke I was looking for the same one, and I stumbled across the HJE190. It has better sound, and if you like bass it's perfect, it's got clear highs and deep lows. Etc...
Not gonna go much into detail. What I mean is, they have the best sound of any earbuds below £50, while costing less than £20, and they are sturdy, so they last a long time. worth having a look.
@Trucifix, I'm glad I could share with you something new. Nice set up btw.
Also, after you try it and if you like it, thank the OP.
Now, about the App itself, Root Booster, since I don't play intensive games on my phone (I use my Nexus 9 for that), I don't really need the speed part, but ideally it's for gaming. For me I like the battery saving toggle, it gives me at least 1 hour worth of juice with average use.
But depeding on your need it can help.
Personally I like it, because I have no idea of which governors to use, how much to overclock or underclock, so I prefer to just let another app do it for me

Sense 7 ROMs for M8, yes pure stable, but I will be honest with you ARHD is the most unstable right now strangely, mike abandoned the M8 for now in favor of the M9, he may be back some time soon.
The 5.0.2 Sense 7 Ports are closer to a true Sense 7, they contain almost all the files from Sense 7 base, only thing Sense 6 about it left is drivers and such to make everything work 100% like audio and radio(4G), now the 5.0.1 ROMs are less closer to true Sense 7, they have many Sense 6 libs and such left behind and its mainly only focused on the apks, like Settings app and Sense Home for example, this is why the 5.0.1 (base without mods) ports don't have the flashlight toggle in QS because the SystemUI.apk still have Sense 6 elements while the 5.0.2 ROMs have full sense 7 SystemUI.apk.
When Sense 7 releases there wouldn't be any visual changes compared to the 5.0.2 ports at all, however it is believed that when its finally out it will come with Android 5.1, so HTC might make some changes but I am unsure, however there will be a couple Android changes at that point like swiping up on a heads up notification to hide it(without fully dismissing), but the current 5.0.2 ports will feel exactly like the M9 does, so nothing is missing about it, and of course its still the M8, so HK works and all that, so it feel like M8 for sure rather then an M9 port where something could potentially be missing.
As for earphones, I am an audiophile but I spend a bit more money then that, you wouldn't believe what you could be missing until you get some real high end headphones, now I understand that more expensive doesn't always mean better but in some cases it does, I mean some headphones are not $299 for NO reason, I my self wouldn't go under $79 but that's just me, my build quality on my $212 earphones is great, you know what you should try out? go get some Klipsch S4's or S5's, they are cheap for what your paying for, I assure you they will sound better then the ones you have now, you always have a return policy so try it out for fun if you want, put it on a credit card so no real money is being spent yet
For Audio its not just about lows and high, mids, sound stage, clarity and many others are also very important, so currently you may enjoy your set up, then you try something real high end and then realize that your current setup may have muddy lows and artificial highs, also separation is important as well, for example, you could have a huge bass note booming in your ear but yet at the same time it won't overlap any other frequency AT ALL so when a bass note happens the singers voice will not appear to get quieter or distorted, it will sound like the bass note is coming from a separate sub woofer in the room while the mids and highs are playing from a dedicated speaker but in reality you just have earphones/buds on! You can say you have this now but yet again its one of those things you have to experience to realize your current setup either doesn't have it or doesn't have it enough.
Please understand my respect to you here, I am not bashing you but just saying there is an other level you can achieve here you have never heard, its kind of like 2D to 3D and other dimensions you may not know exists
I have expensive Polk Audio Speakers in my car, I also have $249 computer speakers and yet my earphones still are much better then both of them, its to a point I have had these earphones for 2-3 years and I am still shocked by them, its also mind boggling to me how these earphones/buds can sound better then a studio or a real speaker for that matter.
@Viper4713, well that would definitely explain why Sense 6 toolbox works perfectly on my M8. So for that reason I think I'll stick around ARHD for a while longer Hehe.
And about the headphones, yeah I'm completely aware, I had some great sounding ones when I was younger. Never went for anything under 30 quid, and once bought a £90 over ears. Beautiful sound.
And yet, 2 months later, like clockwork, it breaks. Haha I'm sure some expensive headphones have amazing sound. But i cant afford to be shelling 50 quid everytime I break some headphones But I'm just pointing out that I was so surprised at the sound I got from my Panasonic's, it's incredible. Obvi it's not the best, and a bit bass heavy, yet it provides nearly a distortionless sound.
For that kind of price tag I'm just surprised it's not well known. But search it, look at the reviews for yourself HJE190 and the HJC120.
Enjoy.

Viper replacement for non rooted users

I spent a couple days testing out different equalizers as I wasn't satisfied with the built in one and spoiled by viper.
This is the best one I've found and I thought I'd share.
Equalizer and Bass Booster
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=music.bassbooster.equalizer
Music player of choice: black player, poweramp, stellio(best ui IMO)
Side note: Check out the Veva s220 headphones for better sound than beats and heavier bass!! They are cheap and the battery lasts longer than any Bluetooth headphones over ever had. Bose, Beats and others I've owned over the years don't come close. They're on Amazon.com.
Thanks for sharing! I'm rooted right now rocking Viper but very well may flash back to stock again soon. Gonna need something like this LOL

Rooted on Note7 or something else. Viper is literally the ONLY reason rooting matters to me.... I would kill for a non root fix.
I tried this and it is like the others for me. There just doesn't seem to be a replacement for Viper. All these EQ's do the same thing for me. If you turn up the base for example, it muffles or turns down the treble. It is like it is robbing from one to give to the other instead of just turning up the band you are trying to adjust.
Thanks for sharing though, the UI is nice and simple.
I just downloaded Poweramp Pro again and used it to play some saved music. Its EQ works like Viper and doesn't suffer from the same issue I talked about above. It will be great for saved music but I listen to a lot of streamed music from Google Play Music and some Pandora.

What's up @chipworkz.. last seen OK on the n5.
Hope life has been treating you well.
I agree after using my n7, viper is truly a need for this phone. And the play sound from the earpiece mod that @SashhaFranko made. I am hoping a more stable method of root is achieved, seems buggy for now. Check ya later.

Rooted on Note 7. Using the leaked Sprint firmware. It's not that bad really. No WiFi Calling or VoLTE (can live without personally). And of course no Samsung Pay or Android Pay. Everything else seems pretty decent thus far.

Do you have to do any modifications to keep the phone running smooth? Like the S7 edge. Phone would get locked into a bootloop every week or 2

Hard to say. Only been running that leaked firmware since Saturday night but it's been pretty stable/smooth for me thus far. I never had an S7 or S7 Edge but from what I'm reading this leak/root is better than what they were facing.
First let me say there is currently no replacement for Viper for non root devices. Nothing comes close. It's the only reason I've rooted after the Note 2. Would be great if Google purchased them and applied Viper directly to Android.
I prefer a EQ app that can be used for ALL sound sources that can be played by Android. To that end, I've used Equalizer for those times when I couldn't install Viper.
Im using the alpha version of poweramp with 24 bit enabled sounds like viper too when activated

That app just uses the built in eq, adding some presets to it. Unfortunately there is no replacement for Viper.

Sorry to be off-topic but quick question. Can you root to do modification to the system (edit host file for ad-blocking, edit CSC to enable features, edit media folder to delete tmobile boot and samsung smileys) then unroot and keep Samsung Pay and volte wifi calling etc?

Better sound in stock ROM, it's possible?

Hi, I have S8 Exynos version and would like to give a better sound to it. It's possible to improve sound quality without root?
Other issue about de sound that bothering me, it's the min. volume of the phone. When I'm listening to an WhatsApp audio, or even a common call, the minimum volume it still a lit bit loud to me. If anyone it's near me, the person can listen to it. Anyway to solve this without root too?
Thanks
I use Poweramp. It does enhance the music output significantly.
How you installed any app recently or the phone has been behaving like this ever since you bought it?

The sound issue is present ever since you bought the phone? Or you noticed it recently?
I am asking because I want to know if the root cause of this issue is due to manufacturing or developed after you have installed an app.

It's not an really issue, is just something that bother me because I don't have a good amplification and like I said, the minimum volume of audios in calls or whatsapp audios it's too loud
I compared with my friend's iPhone X and noticed immediaty the sound from the iPhone X blew my Galaxy S8 Active right away!
The iPhone X speaker has much fuller rich tone and bass. Galaxy S8 sounds like all tremble.
