I'm currently on AOSP extended and thinking of going back to MIUI. Can I flash the latest MIUI recovery rom from Orangefox or do I have to take the fastboot route? I guess formatting data and wiping system, data, cache and dalvik is a must. Anything else to consider?
Fastboot it is. Find fastboot ROM on http://en.miui.com/a-234.html and flash it for safest and full stock restore.

Yes you can. In case you flash xiaomi.eu the correct kernel is included in the ZIP. Flash magisk right after that... And ready to go...
I went back to Miui too, way better battery life, fluid, no glitches and just more robust...
Sorry if it's too obvious, but I'm really new to this device and would like to receive a little help from you guys.
I'm on RR (also tested AEX) right now, plus Orange Fox recovery, and rooted (Magisk). All is good. But would like go back to MIUI stock again to see the difference.
A friend of mine recommended me to download these ROMs from here for MIUI 10.0-10.4 (stable). My question regarding the zip files available on there: are them flasheable via custom recovery (zip ones)? Will it overwrite my custom Orange Fox by original stock recovery from Xiaomi?
If you know more updated MIUI releases, please let me know where to download them
Thank you.
There's also the ARB problem. I know I'm on ARB 4 now and it's easy to check the ARB version in a fastboot rom in flashall.bat. Haven't found a way to check it in a recovery rom though but I guess it would be safe if I download the latest version.

I personally prefer xiaomi.eu Developer over Stable, but either ones are ok. Yes just flash. Orange Fox will not be overridden. Don't forget to also flash Magisk right after that...

Perfect. And last questions, please:
- Is MIUI 10.5 (9.7.11) the Developer one you are talking about? -> https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/9-7-11.51324/
- xiaomi.eu ROMs, in that case: 10.5 9.7.11, can be updated by just installing new builds (zip) via TWRP? Or a clean installation is needed/recommended? Taking as an example for next probably release like 10.5 9.7.18...

Yes 9.7.11
Switching between MIUI builds deleting data is not mandatory but recommended.
If you are coming from another ROM (Pixel, Lineage etc) mandatory

Hey guys,
i have custom rom nexus pure
and i want to install franco kernel.
do i need to do somthing special before the install?
like wipe?
and another thing,in the post about the kernel it explain what to do according to your current verison of the kernel
"
If you're on a 100% stock device (stock rom + stock Kernel) or already on r8 or newer disregard the messages below and just flash - if not:
* If you're on stock rom + r7, or older, you should be flashing stock boot.img first, then r8, or newer;
* If you're on a custom rom + r7, or older, you should dirty flash the rom (or extract its boot.img and fastboot flash it) and then r8, or newer;
"
and i have just custom rom and havent the kernel so im not sure what to do.
thank you for helping
Are you with your custom rom kernel ?
If yes, then just flash fk and root (if you want to).

In your case, just flash FK r10. No need to flash SuperSU, Pure Nexus is pre-rooted.

so you mean that i need to do these steps
1a. Download the latest Pure Nexus zip (pay attention to the version you choose) and your custom kernel if you have one onto your phone.
1b. If you are on the CMTE variant, it is a good idea to set your theme back to stock before dirty flashing. If you don’t and your theme looks wonky after flashing, try using this app.
2. Boot into TWRP and make a backup (remove any lock screen security before this, optional but HIGHLY recommended).
3. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (optional).
4. Flash Pure Nexus zip.
5. Update your vendor image (only need to do this once per build number).
6. Flash your custom kernel (optional).
7. Reboot and profit.
just with the kernel zip?
and if the answer is yes i need to update the vendor image again? i already did it when i install the rom.
thank for the help man it mean to me alot
No. all you need to do is go into twrp and install the kernel
THose are the install insructions for when you update the rom either via dirty or clean.
since you already have the ROM installed, just install the kernel in twrp and reboot.

Isn't that the thread which should be used in case the user encounters any problem when reverting from OOS3/H2OS based roms ?
I guess the OP asked for instructions on how to get back to CM after flashing OOS3 , until and unless he screws up , he wont be needing it

I also faced same problem as him, which is I want to revert to CM13 after flash OOS3
Here is the simple way to move back and forth...I do it regularly...sometimes more than once a day! Keep in mind this-CM13 and Oxygen 2 versions are on the old TWRP and Hydrogen MM and Oxygen 3.0 are on the new TWRP. So look up two zips one is the revert2lollipop and flash that before flashing CM13 or Oxygen 2.O Roms. It will boot you into the correct TWRP. Find the zip H2OS_TWRP3+MMFIRMW and flash that before flashing Oxygen 3 or Hydrogen MM. It will boot you into the right TWRP. So my method if I'm on CM13 is just to boot into TWRP flash H2OS_TWRP3+MMFIRMW and it will reboot and then wipe all but internal and then flash either Hydrogen MM or the Oxygen 3 ROM or the appropriate nandroid backup...if you are in Oxygen 3 just flash the revert2lollipop and it will reboot in to the right TWRP then full wipe and flash CM13. I have done it many times with no issues. Some CM13 also require a new modem but just flash that if you get FCs in the setup...
There is a topic in development that is appropriately titled where you can find the two zip files.

I am currently on Lineage OS (bought that way). Wanting to go to the latest stock rooted rom. I am worried about flashing the international version on my device. Can anybody direct me to the best location to flash the stock rom through TWRP? Also, will the lineage gapps have the correct framework to get the google dialer to work? Need it so I have visual voicemail with Verizon.
Thanks in advance.

Usually the best way to go back to stock is using MiFlash. But there aren't many A2017U packages that i know of. You can use DrakenFX's images to go back to stock via TWRP. Just look for them on the Guides or maybe the ROMs sections

Why do you? You can use MiFlash then just reinstall TWRP with axon7tool or even axon7toolkit. Using MiFlash is better than flashing a TWRP image in my opinion, because it rewrites a bunch if partitions. Plus you can't brick it using MiFlash the right way (using images for your device) while you can provoke a DFU brick with TWRP if you mess up. And you'll have to fix it with MiFlash then, but you'll have to disassemble the phone
I had a DFU-brick when trying to go back to stock using TWRP on my A2017G, so I know by experience

Alright but the problem is that maybe DrakenFX's zips are outdated. Have a G so I don't know really.
Or you could maybe try MiFavor 5.0? You should be very careful with the install procedure as it's not just download and flash, you have to flash a bootstack and a modem file plus the ROM. I recommend using a MiFavor 5.0 ROM that is NOT based on B13 - those are buggy as hell! ADM Team V3 will do.
I'm saying this because stock for the G and U hasn't got the quick settings tiles and other rather nice stuff. Everyone either loves the look or completely despises it though, so better look at the screenshots before downloading...
Now that the AKM DAC patch is out for Lineage, I'm willing to use LOS plus BeastMode Kernel instead of MiFavor 5.0. But stock is not bad, and is usually much better on some aspects than LOS and LOS-based ROMs.
I could never get Visual Voicemail to work on Stock. Installed Google Dialer as a system app and everything. Here is a bunch of info on how the service works. I hope that, eventually, someone can isolate the specific component that could be transplanted to another ROM or figure out a step-by-step to adding it to any ROM. From what I understand, it is just a matter or the correct provisioning/config.
https://source.android.com/devices/tech/config/voicemail
No VVM makes stock a no go...

Flash lazy flasher after rom, and dude recovery replaces when u flash fastboot rom, not recovery
Installed it. Nice UI, smooth but still, it's loaded with stuff that I don't use.
Tried to uninstall crapware and the google apps that I don't need with system apk remover ( root ). It didn't let me, so I gave up on MIUI, again. There is a lot of useless stuff in there.
Isn't there a clean MIUI OS without heavy google apps preinstalled ?

Only recovery install?
Hi! Can i install this through settings/system update/choose upgrade from inner sd card, or i can install only through twrp recovery?
So disappointed
Even after stable release... This thing doesn't support camera 2 API.. and I'm not talking about official support... Even if you add in the lines to enable the API... It won't work after 8.9.20 and above ... Now the stable version doesn't let us use gcam too..?
Which TWRP can I use to flash?
Try latest OrangeFox, and TWRP 3.0.3, just stuck in the end of update process (can not finished).
Stock recovery has no "update" option.
Updater didn't work.
