Hi.
I have a Ulefone Be Touch 2 and I want to buy a new phone.
I don't know if I should buy a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
My eyes are not perfect, but if the Redmi Note 7 has at least the same screen width (not total width, just the screen width) as the Ulefone Be Touch 2, then I'll maybe buy a Redmi Note 7.
Can someone please measure the screen width of the Redmi Note 7?
I know that the Ulefone Be Touch 2 total width is 77.4mm (3.05 inches), which is bigger than the 75.21mm (2.96 inches) total width of the Redmi Note 7.
Thank you.
About bugs, anyone experience anything bad? GPS and bluetooth work fine?
Concerning privacy, do you recommend me to install a CFW to prevent any kind of spying by Xiaomi?
EDIT: added measurements in inches next to measurements in mm.
If you're talking about screen space then yes, RN7 has a bigger screen space(about 6.1 inches of its total 6.3 inches) than UBT2.
No problems with GPS, Bluetooth or any annoying bugs on MIUI so far.
The best ROM for RN7 right now is still MIUI itself, as the developing community is still weak on this device.
Plus what do you mean about "spying by xiaomi"? Please do not bring unfounded conspiracy theories to this forum.

Thank you very much for your help
I understand that the screen of the RN7 has a bigger diagonal than the screen of the UBT2, but do you know the width of the screen of the RN7?
The UBT2 has a screen width of about 68.5mm (2.7 inches).
I want to know the screen width because I can't see very well (my eyes suck), and I need a phone with a big screen width.
Measured it, 67.5mm if my eyes are correct.

Thank you. This was exactly what I was looking for.
So far, in terms of screen width, the RN7 is the best replacement phone I found for the UBT2.

Since all the good gossip over SGSIII has now died it's time to start the same over Note II.
These are my predictions and hopes:
- Screen: Size would be nice if it were the same. I've found this to be a quite optimal phablet size. But what I'm really looking for is what SGS III didn't deliver: HD resolution with RGB-matrix.
- CPU: Exynos 4412, but overclocked
- Release: August / September
- Design: Really don't care. Just as long as it's functional, I'm good.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
- NFC for all models
- A tablet mode with TW
- two usb ports
Sent from the great Note
Let's be realistic...2 USB ports? Does the note have that now? No. Its a bigger version of the SGS2.
My guess is Note II will be a bigger Sgs3. Simple as that.
Don't blow things out of portion.
We're allowed to have wishes, don't we? We're not even sure that there will ever be a new Note in 2012.
Sent from the great Note
A full-size USB port would be pretty sweet, but no way that's going to happen!
My wishes/hopes:
- Not so insanely thin, increased thickness and battery size and a rim around the screen so it can survive a face-down drop.
- Higher resolution.
- Either no more pentile, or a software fix for the banding/black crush.
- Tablet UI.
- Recessed camera lens.
- Louder speaker.
- Wider screen, maybe even 4:3 aspect ratio. The length of the Note is absolutely the max I can fit comfortably in my pocket, but it could easily grow a couple centimetres on the sides.
Perhaps Samsung will take a bit of a break as ICS is officially out for the note is it? Im only saying this because i just bought myself a Note so would prefer to not have to upgrade for a while lol
It has dropped in price here in the UK so i wouldn't be surprised if the note did come out later this year.
An IPS screen and it's perfect.
All I am asking for is a larger capacity battery and make it run faster and more optimized.
What is the point in having quad core but still runs slow.( not that my note is slower)
make it available in black!!!
when looking at the S3, blue around the screen is nowhere near as nice and white IMO is not as nice as black either - although black and then white like the HTC One X looks nice
This a wish list or a prediction?
Wish List
a15 based dual core
1080p super amoled + screen.
no larger dimensions, but maybe shrink the bezels to get a larger screen
Better interior space use to get a wider flatter batter with ~3000mah
2gb ram
32gb internal storage
Prediction
S3 with a bigger screen and a digitizer. If we;re lucky we'll get a small clock jump and maybe 1.5gb ram.
I think there will be no Note 2 in the near future! Maybe next year...
I don't think we are going to get an rgb martix super amoled at hd resolution with a screen as small as the note. Not for years anyway. All I would want from the note 2 is more ram and better processor and higher screen res I like the pentile screen so would sooner have 1080 than 720 rgb, or good for bid they put in an ips lcd because of all the whingers about pentile!!

I think we can be pretty sure the note 2 will be release around the same time as the note one, November time, maybe even later like early next year, I wouldn't worry
I want a 6" screen. Would be perfect for me. Probably too big for most but I'd like it

The form factor cannot get larger or is loses it's niche. It has GOT TO BE POCKETABLE! If they can get a little bigger screen into the existing dimensions... okay... but the niche is pocket-ability or one might just buy a full size tablet.
I'm not hung up on # of cores. Just make it fast and smooth. If thats 2 cores, great!
SIII features like All Share wireless connectivity.
Boost the Internal Memory.
A better screen? I think the screen is damn good, but make it better and I won't complain.
The camera could be better... But I'm grasping at straws because the Note rocks!
It could be 5.5 inches if they narrow the bezel.
5250 cpu and 1080p screen would be nice.
Stereo speakers and notification leds, please.
A dedicated camera button would be great.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
I'd like higher res, get rid of the buttons and extend the screen down to the bottom for onscreen buttons, and Official Android Jelly Bean on release (by the time we see a Note 2 I'm sure it will be out, imo)
What we will likely get is a larger S3 with ICS months after 5.0 is out.
Dedicated camera button would be great!
Stereo speakers.
Better display quality with same dimensions.
Smaller dimensions of the phone overall.
Home button must stay coz its easier to unlock the phone from sleep.
Maybe a little more juice in battery.
More precise s pen.
Nice software functions like in sg3.
Min 32gb onboard for storage.
Camera button.
Hardware as in sg3, but 1.5 gb ram and little higher clock cpu speed.
Many people considered me crazy for leaving my AT&T branded GS3 for the N4, many thought I was downgrading, dropping LTE in favor of the stock android experience.
After spending half the day with my phone I can honestly say this was the best decision I have made when it comes to technology.
The phone feels rock solid and high quality. The screen is a drastic improvement from the pentile AMOLED, the whites actually look white and the icons/text stands out a bit more and is more well defined.
TBH I don't really notice the benefits of the quad core over the dual core that the GS3 runs, it still feels just as snappy/responsive. I also don't miss the home button at all. I will have to get some kind of protection/grip though, which is fine because the back isn't as impressive as the pictures lead it to be, most people wont see the pixelation design unless they are under a light.
The battery/storage may be a problem but so far it isn't a dealbreaker.
This actually feels like a phone that I wouldn't/dont need to upgrade, it's that good.
So you can keep your LTE, home button, and pentile screen GS3, I think I'll be happy with the global development here and hope to contribute where I can
Size of screen
Hi, I m from (karachi) Pakistan,I have a question from you because you have come from Galaxy S3. Is Nexus 4 display is wider then Galaxy S3 and Optimus G ? currently i am using Htc One X its display is taller not wider, i need wider screen in just 4.7 inch space, plz suggest me which one has wider screen, because i have to make order via online thats why i cant check the screen size of Nexus 4 and Optimsu G and they are not available in Pakistan except Galaxy S3, Thankx

The n4 had a screen resolution of 1280x768. The galaxy s3 has a resolution on 1280x720. So width wise the n4 has almost 7% more pixels showing. Without know the screen measurements sans bezel I'm not sure how bog the difference in width is though.

Have you all googled z3x? It looks to be the successor to the z ultra that I know many of you, like myself, currently have.
The only reason I was considering a z3 tablet compact was cause I saw no successor to the Z ultra I currently have.
This Z3x looks to be what we've all been wanting.

6.2 inch is a dealbreaker to me. I use my Ultra for reading and can't take a smaller display so the Tablet Compact is still on the radar or rather, I am more or less fully ready to get it.
The Z3x looks like a great device, though but the smaller screen breaks it for me. If they would have introduced a 6.5 inch or perhaps 7 inch, I would have been all over it.

A whole fifth of an inch on the diagonal would matter that much? If mine magically shrunk that much I may not even notice.

The difference between 5.3 and 5.5 inch (Note I to Note II) or 5.5 to 5.7 inch (Note II to Note 3 and 4) is noticeable. For reading and browsing purposes, it is enough to shrink the text or force some extra zooming.
I am simply not interested in going down from 6.44 to 6.2 inches. Sony could very well give us a bigger screen while keeping the same overall size. A 7 inch screen with the same device proportions would also be perfect (it would be smaller than a Nexus 7 and just slightly bigger than the Ultra).
Even if 0.24 inches sounds little, it is certainly noticeable. It is around 6 mm smaller and yes, it is a step backwards for me.
If I want a smaller device, I can jump all the way down to around 6 inches then since most of the market hovers around 5.5-6 inches. It would be easy but I have realized that I prefer to go full in for a tablet replacement and a size that reduces the cravings for a 10 inch "full-size" device. Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact fit that bill and a 7 inch phablet with slim bezels would also do the same.
The Nexus 7 physical size is my optimum sweetspot, size wise.
I noticed that both of them are using snapdragon 625. besides the different screen sizes, they are really look like the same, isn't it?
Well, yeah they really look the same in terms of Design, Hardware & Screen Resolution.
Their differences are as of the following:
- Phone's Dimensions
- Weight(9 grams heavier on Redmi Note 4)
- Speaker(Redmi Note 4 has 24-bit/192kHz audio speaker)
- It has 4GB/64GB variant if you prefer more RAM and Storage.
So if you like smaller/compact phone like me, go for Redmi 4 Prime.

But there's not info about 'markw'.
If so, will there be a lineage official/unofficial ROM for it? I really wanna know.
Note 4 is MIDO codename. Not direct port.
i wonder if we can cross flash miui 9 for note 4 to 4 prime? although we may have a few differences in front camera also a few sensors, but it would still work right? or it will halt from the start because of not a MIDO device?

The large phone segment is small so there aren't many options for those of us who like these large phone. I personally love large phones like the Max 2 because no notch and I love big screens, big battery, and I don't keep my phone in my pocket (I keep it in my purse ).
The only downside on phones in this segment are software and camera since neither of Google, OnePlus or Nokia make such large phones. But I am currently running the Pixel Experience ROM on the Max 2 which I have been enjoying.
So I am wondering, what's the next phone upgrade folks here are looking forward to or are planning to upgrade to?

well ill be sticking to my MM2 for a while, but if i were on the market for a new phone, it would most likely be one of the following:
Mi Max 3 (natural choice as the MM2 successor)
Pocophone F1 (compromise of smaller display and battery but very high end hardware and well supported in the community, total OnePlus 6(T) competitor if u ask me!)
Mate 20 (Pro) (awesome specs and style, but sadly locked bootloader. so just a choice for those who could live without any AOSP custom roms)
I think the biggest potential going forward will be the foldable phones/tablets. Imagine a 5-incher AMOLED unfolded into a 7-plus inch tablet.
The manufacturers will need to get this right.

Well, if you ask me I will this time buy a last year's (or maybe even two years old flagship device). I really love modding and flaghisps seems to be getting the best of it as most developers get either flaghisps or few mid-range high selling devices. Max series are sepcific device, and even though I like the big screen I think not so many people are interested in it; including: regular people, developers and even Xiaomi People due to releasing incomplete sources Plus, I think that with flagships you are investing even better in the future. You can sell it easier, you get way better hardware and if you don't get time to modd it and actually get to love the device you can keep it for years as hardware has evolved so much and has potential to last for years to come. This is my two cents on this topic
Sooo, my next device, if in 1-2 years it gets enough of developers love (and they most probably will) will be one of these (has to have official bootloader unlocking method):
- Mi Mix 3,
- Mi Mix 2s,
- OnePlus 6T or
- if they get to 6,4+ no notch screens maybe something from Mi 8,9,10 series
Enjoying my Mi Max 3 since I dropped my Mi Max 2 and no one stocks a screen for it. Repairmen look at me like I have 2 heads! ?
Mi Max 2 replacement
First of all, Mi Max 2 is just really awesome. I will use it some more time before replacing with a newer one. But, Here are the mobiles that I might prefer for replacement:
Huawei Mate 20X- My only gripe is the FHD+ display given the price tag. Otherwise, an excellent device.
Honor Note 10
Pocophone F1
Mi Max 3
Honor 8x Max
I would like to know what others think of mate 20xx

Yeah, the Mate 20 X sounds absolutely superb but the bootloader kills it stone dead for me. I'd love a Mi Max Pro with amoled and 845, it would be an instant buy.
I already bought Samsung galaxy note 9 but to tell you the truth I have a hard time letting go of mi max 2. The note 9 screen feels tiny compared to mi max and I keep thinking that maybe I made a mistake in buying the note 9 . Also I found that the mi max 2 combined with the gcam mod of pixel 3 produces better pictures in low light with night mode than note 9. I know that it might sound unrealistic but it is the truth. The one only things that I prefer in note 9 is the qi charging, the USB c to hdmi capability and the better speakers. All in all keep enjoying your mi max 2 and Dont rush into a new smartphone.
Well the mate 20 x can now be bootloader unlocked and rooted so possibly going to be moving there in the next month if nothing else interesting crops up. The Note 10 will probably be great but the screen is too narrow for my liking.

Unlock codes ain't free for Huawei.
I am bit worried which phone to get next. There is not any hurry though because this is still working pretty good.
Mi Max 3 has been unable to attract large development community (at least on XDA forums). I am afraid that the same is going to happen to Mi Max 4. Specially after Xiaomi made life of enthusiastists more difficult with recent decisions.
I wouldn't want to have any of those ridiculously small phones that seem to be the only other options.

But after, no more Huawei, they are not political correct and i do not give my money to them anymore.
Mi Max 3 or 4. I dont think my eyes and hands will want anything smaller. I came from a very small phone (xperia z5 compact) to this very large phone. Just like moving from a mini cooper to a hummer!
Besides the pricing is just right, i dont need all the power of SD 845, nor the picture quality of a Canon.
