Is it possible to request specific firmware? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Trying to repair my phone to stock firmware after a bad root. All I can find for firmware versions are sketchy sites that don't seem safe. Has anyone ever had Sprint provide firmware on request or is there any specific site that is safe to get firmware from?

Firmware update for SGS!!

hey guys, i bought my sgs a month back in singapore and the screen jus gets ppl drooling over it. My current firmware version is i9000dxjf4, and Kies mentions this as the latest firmware but samsung-firmware.webs.com shows that there are three other updates after i9000dxjf4 for the asian region. Is it safe for me to download and update the latest firmware from that website inspite of kies confirming that i'm having the latest firmware. Could u also check out that site its quite cool.
Thanks for your replies....
Kies won't show updated firmware as the Samsung Firmware releases are not official. You can by all means download and install, but they are unsupported and there are risks if you don't do it correctly! Most of us here have flashed new firmwares just fine though.
i was also wondering , i'm in asia so should i install asia specific firmware update or can i download european firmware update. I see that europeans get firmware updates frequently than the asians??

there is a FAQ guide on these boards for roms/firmware etc
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
thanks man my problem got solved.....it was informative....
So, did you download the latest firmware from the Samsung site or went ahead to use one of the custom firmware? Would like to hear if some of the problems that we had been experiencing went away after your upgrade (e.g., GPS, lags, 3G/Wifi switch, etc).
I assume upgrading to the firmware from Samsung does not require rooting. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll try to stay unrooted for warranty reason.
Cheers.
o you have to be ****ting me, please use the search before falsely getting peoples hopes up......

BTW, OP, I tried searching for the firmware on Samsung website but don't seems to be able to find it. Can you provide link for the mentioned firmware?

Verify Original Samsung ROM

Dear all,
I own a Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) with the following informations
CSC A310FB2X2APD2
Baseband A310FXXU2APC5
Current software A310FXXU2APDA
The phone was provided with a car type Seat Leon Connect which supports Android Auto. I live in Germany. As you might recognize, the CSC code B2X is a bit uncommon, but related to the "Seat edition" of the phone.
Now I have the problem that the phone is on a quite old software version (Android 5.1.1 with Security Updates of May 2016) and the phone does not find updates via OTA or Smart Switch. Several calls to the provider (Seat) and Samsung revealed that there is confusion how and when the last updates that were published for the A3 (2016) series will arrive for that specific model. As the phone provided has a Spanish country code, I was finally forwarded to Samsung Spain who told me I should simply search for updates. Which I obviously did.
As Samsung Germany told me that a spanish model would only do OTA updates when having a spanish IP, I even used a spanish proxy to look for updates, but without success.
I tried to change my CSC to the german DBT using the *#272# command, but it just tells me that the command did not succeed. There is an app called "Phone *INFO* Samsung" that tells me my CSC is E01 where E01, E02, E03, E04 and E04 are available in the firmware. This is confusing since this "E0x" is no known CSC country/provider code. So no way to simply switch the phone to DBT and german software updates.
I have the feeling, I will never be able to receive official updates...
So I have a couple of questions:
I'm coming from a Windows Mobile 10 phone where updates came nearly on a monthly base. Plus, the platform was never subject to hacking attacks due to only few devices. How critical is it to stay with the old software from a security point of view? Note, I only download software from the Play Store, but I am surfing the web a lot.
Is it true that a spanish IP is required for OTA updates or Smart Switch to find the update for the spanish phone?
As it is likely that I won't get offcial updates, I am willing to flash the german DBT firmware of December 2016 (say, from updato.com) using ODIN. Will I be able to receive OTA or Smart Switch updates in the future based on that, and therefore stay on a regular update path? I read that CSC and/or product code may be an issue.
Is there a way to ensure that the firmware I download from updato.com is really the official firmware? I am very sceptical about security and modified ROMs as I use the phone for business purposes. I informed myself a bit on the KNOX software installed on Samsung phones. Is it right that KNOX is able to check the originality of the firmware being flashed and therefore should increase the "Warranty void" counter in case the firmware is NOT original? Is there another way to check originality in advance before flashing?
Will I have to care for changing CSC and/or product code after flashing?
Most important: Say, I do the flashing to DBT firmware and for some reason, I need the original firmware back. Is there a way to return to the original Seat firmware? As it is available nowhere for download, I would have to use Smart Switch. Will I be able to connect the phone and simply put it to factory state (including the CSC code)?
Sorry for this long list and possibly dumb questions, but I am really unsure how to proceed.
Thanks for helping!
Tobias

Hi tys0n,
yes, it is exactly the same version.
Here's the firmware. http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=528B238FC03811E6B04AFA163EE8F90B
NOTE: U2 (marked in red) is the binary number. Bootloader should also be U2.
Since this seems to be a very specific firmware I just want to give a little varning.
Don't update to U3 if you ever plan to flash back to any U2 firmware (including this one).
Updated bootloader to U3 won't allow downgrade of itself to U2, and old modems won't work with updated bootloader.
There's a good chance that you'll end up with no signal or lost imei if you try to downgrade from U3 to U2.
Country/RegionEurope 02
Product CodeE02
OS VersionLollipop(Android 5.1.1)

Hello,
I'm also exactly on the same situation... does anyone found a solution to upgrade to latest Android version / way to proceed ?
Thanks
Update: I finally managed to flash my Rom with a U3 firmware (Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 FR), see phonandroid.com and the tuto for installing a310fxxu3bqc2-xef on a Galaxy-a3-sm-a310f

SM-J320FN restoring stock firmware?

Hi. I installed a custom firmware and then rooted. Then I installed what I thought to be the stock firmware but now since unrooting it says my device has been modified and it doesn't let me get updates, so I suppose I must've installed a version that doesn't match my country.
Kies 3 is apparently incompatible with my device and SmartSwitch doesn't have the option anymore. with SamFirm it asks me for the Region which my phone says is PHE (Spain) but I doubt it is because I'm from Portugal. Is it possible that the firmware I installed changed the CSC code? (the original, firmware, and active all say it's PHE) Phone is not locked to any carrier btw. How do I go about getting the correct original firmware?
Thanks

Hey idk, you can download odin 3.x which is a flashing utility for Samsung devices and then go @ https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-j3/SM-J320FN
Download the firmware for Portugal (has 3 carriers) or download the standard EUR carrier free firmware and flash it via odin.. Please lookup a relevant thread on how to flash if you aren't familiar with this yet.
Sorry im not walking you through it, its new for me writing on the app...
Peace [emoji41]

I've already done that. that's not my issue. my issue is knowing what is the correct stock firmware that came with the phone, since the CSC code says it's from another country. and if all the CSC all match the same country then from what I've read it should give me OTA updates already
also you have to pay to download on that website (even after registering)

Anything you flash from sammobile will give you OTA.It doesn't require pay2get unless you are clicking unlimited speed download...
Kaiyum, you're wrong. you register and it logs you out when you go to download anything for free and suggests for you to register again and doesnt actually let you download anything without having a paid account.

Flashing unlocked to Tmobile firmware

So I'm currently going crazy.
Have s10+ unlocked.
Baseband version: G975U1UEU2ASGB
SM-G975U1_9_004
I'm wanting to flash tmobile firmware to improve cell signal.
I've done some research and know I need to flash U firmware just not sure which one and if it has to be them same as the current firmware the phone has.
Can someone please provide step by step on what I would need to do as well as what firmware I would need to flash to achieve this.
I don't want to mess it up and then suddenly get stuck on boot.
Thanks in advance.

Head over to sammobile and follow the directions in this link. You will need the modified Odin from here. The sammobile link is the latest t-mobile firmware. If you ever want to go back to the u1 firmware that is located here as well.

Awesome thank you so much. I'll give it a go later today ?
Does anybody have a mirror or can you upload the latest tmobile firmware?
I've been trying to download for 4 days and at 92% the download just stops. Ive tried all sorts of different sites and nothing so far.
my experience is that samfirm works consistently while the others don't. Download the samfirm app then enter the model you want (SM-G975U). The region will be TMB for T-Mobile, and let it download the files and decrypt for you.
Try frija, I was losing my mind looking for it also, initially it didn't work but after installing c++ 8 something something it worked. Downloaded really fast also
I'm not able to find anything for T-Mobile USA in the latest version of this tool. Has anyone else been able to find it?
