This app lets you lock 5G/LTE/4G/3G/2G bands on most Samsung phones running the latest One UI software (no root required!):

Hi, I started off like you - tried many different methods on XDA and elsewhere - even hair pulling.
Firstly network 'unlocking' doesn't require 'root' access. Telstra will supply an 'unlock code' for free if your phone is over 2 years old. (Otherwise they may charge you to break contract) You give them IMEI number of your phone - they can give you code.
To open your Network Unlock screen – dial > #7465625*638*# on your handset and enter 'unlock code'.
I don't know if 'root' requires that handset is ' network unlocked'.
Anyway . .
Then I found this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927769 - and by adopting method "3-Just(only)root:", and downloading the corresponding attached file - " 3-KERUK_Samsung_Root-only_signed.7z " I finally was successful in rooting my SGY GT S5360T (after weeks of frustration).
All credit and thanks to -CALIBAN666- for supplying the solution.
Incidently - my reason for attempting root was to try to properly unlock my phone to operate on Optus 3G (umts 900 MHz).
Although phone is network unlocked (unlock code supplied by Telstra), and the phone specs say it's 3G 900Mhz compatible, it is still not able to operate on that signal. I'm flummoxed. Would like to know, if you get your root, can your phone (S5360T) go 3G 900 MHz.
I suspect Telstra's firmware is holding out on me.
Good luck with it, hope this helps, and send thanks to -CALIBAN666-.

N9005 won't pick up 3G networks

Hi guys,
My actual phone info:
Bought with JB Stock Vodafone from Spain
Imei unlocked
Updated over OTA to kitkat
rooted via CF auto root.
Knox tripped
Phone info:
XXUENA6
XXUENA2
VFGENA4
For a week, I looked all over XDA forums, read all threads but I still can't find a solution for my n9005 problem.
Here it is: I bought one in Spain, imei unlocked it to use it Morocco. Everything worked just fine and I could use gsm network with a sim from IAM (Moroccan Provider). I then set up mobile APN to have 3G, made sure my sim is 3g enabled, but the phone refused to pick up the 3g signal. I checked the phone's mobile network settings, and found that I haf only 2 options: gsm/wcdma automatic, and wcdma only options.
Well, since Maroc Telecom(IAM) isn't offering a 4G coverage yet, I think that's normal not to have the 4g option. Still, When I use the automatic option I only get 2g signal (and can read my mails over gprs, get twitter notifications, but no internet via browser, etc..).
When I choose Wcdma only option, I simply have no network signal at all.
When searching manually for networks, I get all 3 moroccan's providers but only their 2g networks.
I was prompted for the kitkat update via OTA, updated but it didn't solve the unavailable 3g problem(and caused a few others I managed to solve).
Now, I rooted my n9005 using cf auto root, and off course tripped knox, tried to reset the phone many times, but still no way to have a 3g signal.
Thought about installing a compatible Rom, but I am a newbie, coming from the Apple world, and need some help with this.
Actually, it amuses me that I really waited until android started to ressemble to IOS to decide to switch once for all to Android
Please guys, if you have any idea to help me get the 3G signal, that would be awsome.
Thank you in advance.

Are you using a custom ROM? I faced the same issue when updating the stock firmware trough Kies. I had to download the official firmware and flash it with odin instead of just using Kies, solved every problem.

You are not telling us much about the story of that smartphone. What build are you running? Have you tried flashing in the past? Was it broken since when you got it?
flash the stock firmware using odin or smart switch
Thats a Verizon Galaxy S5!! What country are you trying to use it in? While the GSM sim-slot on Verizon high-end devices is usually unlocked for Global GSM usage, you need to check if the device supports the GSM frequencies in your location.

Note 4 wifi calling on EE

Hi Guys, this section of the forum looks very quiet but looking for advice on how to enable WiFi calling, i am on EE due to signal issues where i live and have an EE booster box in the house, problem is i need WiFi calling. I have bought a Note 4 which was previously on Vodafone. i have done lots of searching and see some people have managed to install firmware or flashed the phone so it works.
As i am quite a novice to this can anyone help explain how to do it?
much appreciated
If it is available, it will be in the phone (dailer) settings. But I am pretty sure that EE doesn't support the Note 4

It helps when you ask for help to provide information on your phone; model, ROM, country, and service provider. In any case I have Wi-Fi calling on a 910C in the USA using Straight Talk (T-Mobile). Your SIM card needs to support it and your phone needs to be Wi-Fi Enable. To enable the phone I use Magisk and module "VoEnabler". I can turn off Data and still make calls and send MMS/SMS through Wi-Fi. Hope this information helps. GL

Your phone is a SM-N910F(Snapdragon, Qualcomm) and you will need Odin on a computer , CF-Autoroot by Chainfire, TWRP recovery, and Magisk. I will attach some of the files, others are too big, but since you stated you are a novice there is some reading that you need to do and videos are helpful too. I will only attached the generic files. Performing and or using the above tools improperly can brick your phone, so make sure that you understand the process. On this forum you can find how to root and install TWRP, just use the "search this thread" blank block. Again, there are videos on Google showing the process starting with Odin, then CF Auto Root, TWRP, and Magisk. Use the information to download the correct files for your model (CF Auto Root, TWRP). Good luck.

How to modify LTE Carrier Aggregation and enable 256QAM/64QAM on Xperia XZ and XZs

Mostly Sony XZ-series phones have limited LTE Carrier Aggregation bands on per country / provider. You can check here more information about that: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz/how-to/lte-carrier-aggregation-combinations-t3577544
I made step by step instruction how to modify on Sony XZ, Sony XZs, Sony XZ Premium and Sony XZ1 LTE Carrier Combinations. Rooted phone required. This instruction should working also with Dual SIM models.
Sony XZ Premium after Android 9 PIE does not work anymore
You can check this on my blog site: https://mt-tech.fi/en/modify-sony-xz-xzs-xz-premium-and-xz1-lte-a-band-combos/
Make sure you make full modem backup and backup all config files to your computer, if need restore configuration.
To try this mod, it should be supported by the carrier also! Is there a way to find out in which countries it's rolling?

Did you mean LTE Carrier Aggregation support? You just should check what band your provider support and then find possible combos on our Google sheets (link on first post).
Many providers also support well 256QAM/64QAM but not every provider yet. There is no list yet.
That's my point... There is no "list". You just try it and see if it's working. But I'm not brave enough to try it -and IF it goes smoothly- see no result because my provider being ambitious in saving money than QoS :/

That should ask from local provider customer service.
When know local LTE bands then know possible CA-combinations.

@olkitu QPST on xz1/xz premium with Android Pie works using the magisk module that you can find here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78919730&postcount=119. No need to install custom driver, you can use the driver from windows update. I'm saying it to you also because your tutorial is among the first results on Google
Edit: It seems to not work on XZ premium. I was wrong

This driver is Qualcomm official driver for Xiaomi but yes if you can find it from Windows Update that is good.

On oreo using the driver for xiaomi I had to manually insert the "COM" port, now with the drivers downloaded by windows the phone is autodetected*.
The device used by QPST is "USB\VID_05C6&PID_9091&REV_0404&MI_00". Sometimes with the module enabled the phone says "no service", to solve the problem just enable and disable the "Airplane mode", note that this does not interfere in any way with QPST/QXDM. Obviously you should disable the module after finishing the work.
And thak you very much for your work I still have some doubts about the lte_category file. Analyzing the firmware of many smartphones I understand how the files disable_cap_ies (disable 64qam/256qam capabilities), rrc_capable_plmn_list (limit the plmn that have capabilities not disabled) and the carrierpolicy works, but I found anything about lte_category :/
*In my case qpst is running in windows 7 compatibility mode

Better buy device from France to support bands and carrier aggregation combinations used in France.
Thank you very much for your response, Olkitu. I am trying to enter qualcomm diagnostic mode, and I cannot. I have done everything you describe in your blog and nothing shows up in QPST. I even tried with the command (setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb), and I can't enter the diagnostic mode either. Do you know how to fix it? Thanks you
olkitu , little bit off topic but at what extent can be done with Qualcomm software to unlock the full potentioal of any phone? Im not talking about LTE and 5G, I mean Bluetooth, GNSS, Wifi, NFC, codecs. Because of the lack of tutorials on how to edit NV items EFS mods its a dangerous game.
