Blood Pressure App Compatibility with latest FW update - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Does anyone use a blood pressure measuring app like "My BP Lab"?
I updated to the latest FW and I just noticed that "My BP Lab" can't work any more. It gave a message: "Sensor does not exist on this device"
I'd appreciate it if someone tests this, as I can't be sure if it is a HW problem or it's some FW issue.

Thank you.
I don't have My BP Lab available in my PlayStore. So I downloaded the last version from apk mirror and it works again. I was using a much older version.
Thanks again.

Used to use this on my note 9, but during that time an update was pushed which made the bp measurements inaccurate. I tested against an actual cuff.

Yes just click tab button and on the bottom left should be a button for secret mode while the right has button for regular new tab. It's really convenient and useful especially since it has fingerprint lock on it. Love it.

That's why I would like to have it too, but I only have a big button for a regular tab. I don't know if there is a special app I deactiavted settings? I already looked, but I don't see a relation between them

It seems like it's firmware specific issue. Have you tried to update/flash different roms to see if the issue still persists? Maybe the dev disabled too many things and it's causing incompatibilities.

It seems that after the update to internet browser 5.0 (that brought new UI) there is no more private mode.
I think secret mode uses Knox
@waterdaan Perhaps it's something introduced in Internet browser v5, as it worked fine with v4 and I was rooted already.

New firmware 32.1.A.1.185

Just got the update. Don't know yet what's new.
Nothing visible so far, maybe some optimization and fix for the screen bug.
Only difference I can spot is that the network type (H/4G/LTE etc.) is now placed on the left of the reception bar instead of above it.

That didn't change for me though. I'm on E5803 Malaysian firmware. All I noticed was that the animations are faster and the apps are opening faster. That's it. Also no issues with auto brightness so far

I just upgraded too.
The default SMS app now has stickers(You actually have to download Sketch from the play store)
and there are some new quick share options at the popup menu that appears when you share a file.
Also, it says something about a revamped camera ui but I see nothing different....

Actually I had two updates. One in the morning - and FM radio worked.
Then another in the afternoon and FM radio broke again ...
Sorry for a bad news ...
I think with .185 update low light photos just got even worse in SA, instead of bluish tint now i got purple ones :S
I hope this fixes the wired and bluetooth audio stuttering.
In Lollipop you couldn't get system software updates OTA if you were rooted, but I just got a notification that this version is ready to install... I'm running rooted 32.1.A.1.163. Will I lose root if I install? Will it install at all? Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

I tried updating with root and it failed. I also want to know if root is possible with thia update.
I'm using a rooted phone myself - while I use the DRM key emulation I know OTA updates will most likely fail so I will perform the upgrade manually.
Would anyone please check the Android security patch level?
If you go to System Settings - About phone. One entry says "Android security patch level" which is February 1st on the .163 version. Did this one increase maybe?
If so, it would be worth the hassle with Flashtool and rerooting and such for me to upgrade.

No sensors working w/ oficial MM update

My Zenfone was not rooted neither modded with something. 100% asus original, updating from the original firmware .194 to MM firmware downloaded from Asus Site. I've checked the sensors with AIDA and CPUX apps.
All sensors were working as expected before the update.
My next attempt will be a factory reset to see if it works.

At the time of beta .61 there it was no apparent reason for the sensor(s) failing to be recognised on some phones, other than perhaps the age of the phone (thus different HW releases).
If that's the case, only ASUS can fix it (and I wonder why they didn't in the past 3 months...)

No screen protector at all. Phone was working absolutely fine before update (today). Phone is not rooted, is locked (bootloader as original) and it was upgraded via ota (downloaded zip to phone, reboot and tapped update). So it was dirty update but never had any problems before when updating.

Samsung FM radio app

I downloaded the Samsung FM radio app from APK Mirror and tried installing it on my unrooted S7 Edge (SM-G935U). It wouldn't install -- phone showed "The package name conflicts with an existing package by the same name." Huh, I am 100% certain no such app is installed. I tried it again with logcat running. The error there is more informative:
Code:
AASATokenParser: Violate security policy of MSTG. Package(com.sec.android.app.fm) is blocked.
Unfortunately, Google seems to know precious little about the above. Searching for "aasatokenparser" returned nothing useful. Hits on "mstg" mostly pointed to something called a "mobile security testing guide."
AASATokenParser might be from AASAservice, which is commonly removed by debloat scripts. I don't want to root this phone though. Any other options for bypassing this security check or whatever it is?
Fixed it. Found this thread about installing S8 packages with reports of the same error I was seeing. Tried the suggestion of togging the secure startup setting followed by a reboot. That worked -- radio app installed and is behaving normally.
Very odd...
woah wacky so it actually works!
is this a snapdragon model? I like nextradio but stock always does it better
I tried cloning samsung radio.apk.... the damn thing would crash every time. even in force keep open/prevent crash mode.it only worked... when I used next radio... couldn't actually use the interface.
how did you get it to work exactly? the "remove lockscreen, add shortcut and install right away" trick didn't work

yeah I did all those things and I wouldn't even think it would work cause the package is locked in the software...
OH MY GOD... IT WORKS, IT ACTUALLY WORKS! I can't believe such a simple work around WITHOUT ROOT does the trick! even on the S7 active with the latest security patch (dec 2017) still works!
the galaxy A series samsung fm radio app... works just fine on the galaxy s series phones!.. its much louder then regular music (like nextradio) but I think that's to do with samsung making it quiet. I like nextradio for what they did but this interface works MUCH better and faster. strange I'm running dark theme on my samsung phone and this is the only stock app not effected by it- likely cause of how its installed.
thank you so much for reposting this... I wonder if it works for every phone... NOW I want to go back to the galaxy A5 2017 (enxyos 7880 has it in) 520W canada version and try this trick to see if it works on that unit... since canada carriers/samsung blocked the fm radio on the canada release.
I wonder if this works for all recent samsung phones?

perhaps package disabler pro could remove this out? I just figured out how to work that- you gotta install an extra it to get it running properly it that runs without root.
unrelated...I'm trying eng root method again... it kinda sucks. I love these custom roms but eng boot sucks some battery- its not a real way to root at all, at least it doesn't trip knox and can be reset to stock without major issues
can someone try this with Enxyos S7?

I've been convinced by the arguments /u/neromancr has floated in various Reddit threads (example) to avoid package disablers.

RMM lock stuck

I updated my J5 Pro (SM-530F) to Oreo, bootloader included. This update included RLC lock. So I waited 2 weeks for it to unlock. No luck. I tried the date change trick, again nothing, Samsung patched it even before this update came to j5. I tried restarting my phone after a week. Nothing. I tried waiting 7 days and then manually checking update, still nothing. I tried downgrading the bootloader, but there was OTA update which included September security patches, so I installed it, one thing I didn't know was that it rises bootloader's revision number. Now im unable to even roll back. All this time i had my country's sim card inserted. I really don't have any way on rooting my phone now and this sucks

https://t.me/j2017Oreo just scroll to the post from 22 september. There are all the links and instructions.
And by the way you will need to use custom kernel (like Helios) if you want to root. If you do this on stock some features won't work (like sim card). Plus, even on the custom kernel there are some bugs. For example adblocking doesn't work (at least for me) and some other minor thing like detaching from playstore, but I think that is the part of these "security improvements" in the new 8.1 kernel.
