After Pie update, I have strange problem in calls. In call, after 3-4 seconds my voice is not received by other side, but at first 4-5 seconds, everything works and other side can hear my voice too. (When I open speakers, my mic is working again)
I tried to flash stock Pie again, installed custom roms but I can't fix this problem. Any idea about solution? (Tried modem flashing etc too)
I'm experiencing same problem. Any solution?
I have had this on N and P but i'm 100% convinced it's signal strength.
I have always have poor signal at home and the A1 shows it much higher but I don't think it is really that high, I think the A1 reports 1-2 bars as 3-4 bars and it's just a simple low signal problem, I go outside and all is fine.

Neither of the posters above are complaining, they are asking for advice and a possible fix.
This is exactly what forums are for? The Feedback app is worthless.

I have had my K-Jam for a month now and I love it, but I find the phone part of it very inconsistent.
1) voice quality is inconsistent, some calls great some have static or are muffled
2) Bluetooth connection gets dropped out of the blue. I make a call and it works fine, two mintes later I answer a call and I can't hear anything; I look at the phone and I notice that the BT headset icon is off so I pick up the phone and I can hear the voice on the phone but not ont he BTheadset
3) Speaker volume very low, not usable for me; is there a setting I can use
4) when I roam to the US from Canada the signal strenght bars disappear and I have to reset the device (sometimes 2 or 3 times) before the bars appear again
5) lastely, sometimes the phone just turns itself off out of the blue.
Anyone else encouter any of these issues?
I use my phone for business and I find it a pain that it is so inconsistent.
Are there settings/registry keys I can modify to fix any of these?
Thanks
not much help to you,
but i have had none of the problems you have listed,
sorry i can't help
for (3) volume low.
I notice that handsfree (aka using internal speaker for public audience) is not "activable" if my bluetooth headset is connected (and even if I previously disconnect"tranfer" BT hS to 9100).
Only way to have this handsfree, is to shutdown previously by BT headset.
For other nothing special Roaming works well for me between France-Belgium.

I am having phone app problems, but not the ones you describe. I have to reboot sometimes because the phone will not dial from contacts. I highlight the contact and try to dial, but it just doesnt do anything, like the button is
not being pushed. Afte a reboot it works ok again.
Anyone else?
John
I'm having the very same problems, I'm also with Rogers (in Saskatchewan). Have you had any success fixing the issue?

This sounds like a carrier/ signal issue. See if you can tell how strong your signal is when things like this happen. Here in Nashville, TN USA, I don't have this problem.

I don't have this problem with my Motorola HS820. The BT performance is perfect. Much better than on my Blue Angel.

If you're referring to the speaker phone, there seems to be a quality issue with the speaker phone right now. A lot of people are reporting problems with this feature. I'm hoping a ROM upgrade will come out to help address the issue.

This is definitely a signal/carrier issue. Soft resetting when you cross the boarder isn't unreasonable. The issue is your cell phone registering on the roaming network. You're doing the right thing to resolve the issue, here.

Do you mean the cellular radio turns off, or the device sleeps? If the cell radio turns itself off out of the blue, its not supposed to do that, and there may in fact be something wrong with it. You may want to look into getting it either repaired or exchanged (depending on how long you've had it...)
I haven't had any of these problems with my K-JAM. Its been working very well, and I'm VERY pleased with the way its been working.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need additional help.
I've been noticing the following strange behavior:
Sometimes the in-call volume is just too loud. Even on the minimum volume setting someone standing a couple of meters away from you will still perfectly hear the conversation. This only happens when receiving a call, never (as far as I can tell) when making one.
If during the call I switch on and then off the speaker, then the volume goes back to what it should be.
Has anyone noticed this before? Workarounds?
Yes, I've noticed this.
Always does it when it has been connected to a headset.
I seem to remember it went away when I installed the Modoco rom...
Mine still does it with the Modaco rom
@squirreleater: Thanks for your reply. It is just as you say
@both: Do you know if the latest HTC firmware fixes this issue? I know, I know, but I can't find the time these days to upgrade and find for myself
I`m on the latest MCR and it still does it. Its really P*****G me off now. I hate to take a call because of it.. Surely more people than us 3 are seeing this?
Yup, same thing for me although I've never noticed a difference between receiving and making calls (will watch out for that now). Quietest setting is still ridiculously loud. I'm on MCR 2.6 but have noticed on other roms as well.
I've noticed this too, but seems as though when I press volume up, it starts working again and allows me to lower the volume.
I can confirm that your workaround is just fine. Thanks.
So if i press volume up then down it will go quieter?
I will try this next call i get...
I am getting this same problem ... thanks for the tip I will try it.
I just noticed this. but after having my hero for like over a month. Could have appeared when i installed like 3 games yesterday but cant see why games would cause that to happen. but yea the workaround of increasing then decreasing the volume works. and it only happens when i receive the call. strange...
I've read a few similar threads and it seems that many people have noticed the same but haven't seen any real solution.
I noticed that when I try to call my phone, the 1st attempt will be missed (it will either redirect to voicebox due to unavailability or it will ring as disconnected and never get notified). The 2nd attempt will ring ok.
I haven't seen anything helpful except from turning 3g off but I have it on auto and use the mobile widget which I assume does the same.
Anyone noticed the same? it's worth to try it though because you may have the same and be unaware of it. (Try to ring your phone when its in standby and hasn't been used for several minutes)
I bought the DHD yesterday, in the few hours i used it i didn't notice the issue you describe. Just to be sure i called my phone a minute ago and i had no problem.
I have 3G turned off and i'm not using voicebox (using missed call alert instead).
i have a feeling its because if you turn the phone over it rejects the call. i keep doing this because my phone is in a slip case all the time. anyone know how to turn it off?

No, it doesn't . It just mutes the sound but if it's already turned over when it receives a call, it will ring. You can change this behaviour in settings-call as well as volume control for flip case.
I tried several more times and it doesn't happen now. It just happened a few times when I tried to test. The only setting I changed now was for GSM-3G not to force 3G connection on for all the time. Maybe that helped but now I'll have to see how my data connection is affected.

Yesterday whilst in town, a friend said he had tried to get me several times, only to get a network message that the phone was unavailable. seems fine each time i test it though, and there is a strong 3g signal around here. I put it down to everyone in town christmas shopping and net network cell being clogged up with people calling each other to find out where there other half is lol.
What network are you on? I'm on Orange, and get this all the time. It seems to be when I'm in an area where there's only gprs which cannot work with voice calls simultaneously. For some reason the data signal is given priority and the voice call is rejected. Surely it should be the other way round? Not sure if this is a network problem or a software problem... if the latter, is it HTC or Android?

I have been reading on this online trying to find a solution without any comprehensive solutions so would appreciate it if someone could please help me out....
While talking on the phone using my moto x style...the people on the other end say that they can barely listen to me....i have to literally shout to make them hear it...
do any of you face similar issues? am i doing something wrong?.
I am on stock btw and received the OTA MM update a week back
Please let me know what other details you need to identify and solve the problem
Ok so its not just me. It started as soon as I updated to MM. I did find somewhat of a work around. Usually if I take the phone away from my ear (so the display turns on) and then put it back, they can magically hear me again. If that doesn't work I toggle speakerphone mode on then off and it works.

Wow I will definitely try it out next time I face this issue... Am so relieved to see that I am not the only one with this issue... Is your problem intermittent too? Also anybody else facing the same issues?

I disabled Enhanced 4G LTE Mode and the problem immediately went away. After a few days, I tried my luck and turned it back on and haven't had a problem with other hearing people hearing me since. Good luck.
Unfortunately am still facing a lot of issues with the calls...my voice sounds muffled and extremely feeble to people and they arent able to hear me....
Am surprised nobody else is facing this issues...did i get a defective piece? Are there any other things I can try out....
extremely frustrated with it and not sure what to do...any help would be immensely helpful
bump...
I'm having the same issue on 2 devices. It happened on both OS's. I'm going to try turning off the enhanced 4g lte option. Maybe that doesn't play well with Verizon. One note I did make was the problem doesn't exist on speaker phone. I kinda thought it was the noise canceling mics being too functional.
Thanks please let me know how it goes and if you are able to find anything...I dont even have the 4g LTE option since I am using the phone in India...
Have tried disabling Ok Google voice activation which helped lot of OPO users but doesnt seem to work on MXPE
I've got the same issue on a phone I just got 3 days ago. Replacement should arrive today.
The problem... Low volume on the handset earpiece accompanied by very low level but constant background static noise. The background noise is low enough to only be audible in a quiet environment. Switch to speaker phone, Bluetooth, or wired headset and the problem is gone. The problem is only on the handset earpiece.

I see, different problem from mine. Audio for the other person on my calls is fine.
My replacement has arrived, but the problem persists. However prior to upgrading the new phone to Marshmallow, it was fine. Seems like a Marshmallow bug.
I started a new thread detailing the issue at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3277589.

Thanks a lot for your inputs though...issue is a bit different...
Same issue here ! immediately after MM OTA update (stock vanilla) people start complaining they cannot hear me well !
After sorting most of MM issues this is a major pain in the a**
Let Moto know about this as it makes the phone crippled.
How come there aren't any more complaints about this serious issue !
This is 100% MM related - People complain they can barely hear me on the other end of the line - I sound muffled, stuttered and basically bad to the point they cannot continue the conversation and demand I call them from a land line !
Forget all MM bugs, problems, etc (need I mention the Equalizer went AWOL) now this Smartphone which I highly praised and loved became a ...smart something - with no phone feature.
Help me let Moto support be aware of this issue.
Thanks
I have the same issue, the other person is barely able to hear me.
I'm in Italy and i noticed that this issue come when my phone is in GSM (2G), when i talk in 3G it's ok.
I also made a TEST that you can do, i tried to speak with headphones's microphone and the issue is gone, but when I unplug the headphones the issue came back immediatly (switching the screen on).
Does anyone know how to tell this issue to Motorola?
Everyone of us should send his request to Motorola, to show them this common issue.
Got the following advise from Motorola support on chat - it seems to help - please tell me if it work for you:
please go to settings > apps > all > Audio Effects app - Tap Force Stop - Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Also under settings > apps > all > go to Phone app - Tap Force Stop - Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Now please turn off the phone and when you turn it back on try making a call.

I did try all that per Motorola support. It made no difference. Then I tried a factory reset without reconnecting to my Google account. Also, no difference.
Note I am waiting on a second replacement phone. It should arrive on Wednesday.

None of the solutions seem to work for me either Did you guys actually try to finalize if this issue was only due to MM? Did you not face it on Lollipop? Am seriously lost for words on the issue as its such a basic need which is not being met...did the replacements help resolve it?

I only recently got the MXPE, and upgraded to Marshmallow immediately. My first call was under Marshmallow's control. It had the background noise and low volume level.
I got a replacement and tried it under Lollipop immediately. It did not have the background noise, but did have low volume. Upgraded it to Marshmallow and the noise returned. So, I would conclude that the noise is a Marshmallow induced issue.
However, I have a second replacement of the way. My thought is that perhaps the noise is related to the low volume issue, which is a hardware problem, and Marshmallow is just highlighting the weakness in some way that results in the noise.
As for the volume problem, this is the first phone I've ever had to use at maximum volume. Even then, it is just adequate. From what i have read on boards like XDA, this is not normal. That, in part, is why I have another replacement on the way.

Hi All,
I'm facing some issues with my new OnePlus 5.
Sometimes, during a call, there seems to be a distirbance, as if the phone is catching it from nearby electrical/electromic devices. There seems to be a current/voltage like sound which happens durimg certain calls and sometimes the calls are perfectly normal. Doesn't seem to be a network issue as there's no voice breakage or lags, just a disturbance that lasts for a second and can be repetitive.
Anything on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Yea it's happening to me too. There are other threads about this as well.
Hi,
Can you please provide a link to those threads?
facing the same issue
i had purchased the one plus yesterday but now when i making calls i feel disturbance in voice,
so i changed my sim and bought new sim but still the problem is same. any help?
Try disabling wifi while calling. Fixes the high pitch noise. Don't know if this can or will be fixed with an update
High pitch in call also for me.. I hope op is aware of the issue and can fix it..
