This may seem like a noob thread (which it probs is) but my issue is probably rare in htc 10 phones. You see.. my htc 10 just randomly decides to reboot from time to time. I've noticed some pattern to it but it still does not help. The reboots occur randomly. Some days, no reboot at all. Other days, it reboots so many times. Reboots more noticeably while watching videos (I got the phone knowing this problem). So, a logical person might say, "Hey, why don't you reset to factory settings/why don't you flash stock ruu/use htc repair tool or sync manager." To which, I reply, "I have done literally everything I can except getting it s-off and flashing custom rom on it. And the best part? when I select repair on htc sync manager, it says, "No software available for your device""
It may be a hardware issue. Most people say that it could be related to battery. If it were related to battery, the phone would just completely shut down and restart. However, in my case, the phone hangs or freezes for about 10 seconds and is unresponsive till it finally shuts down and reboots. I've put in safe mode as well but still no luck.
I've completely gone into zen mode now. I don't watch videos anymore xD
Help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

However, during it 'freeze' mode, try calling the phone; won't ring but caller doesn't get any engaged tone keep trying connect tone.
Please advise if any1 experience the above or any steps I can do.

The same thing happend to me yesterday, for the first time (I pulled out battery to reset it). I had a few random resets last few days, but I do use my legend for app development testing, so i'm not sure if i somehow provoked the problem.
Offtopic, but just looking at logcat output of a normally running Legend you get impression that there are a lot of unfinished stuff, especially HTC applications (news widget is terrible)
I'm also seeing the same random resets on my Legend. Not sure what when wrong. I have a bunch of apps installed but I don't know if this relates to any of them.
It happened again just now. Restarts on daily basis now
just make a hard reset
Ok. I did a hard rest. And i don't want to install any apps, let it run in vanilla flavor for 2-3 days and see if it happens again.
If it does, that means it must be caused by one of the apps installed before
I had some SOD's, but after a complete clean and reset to original setting, everything disappeared.
Maybe it was a problem coming from installed software...
clean reset, wiped out everything. reset after 15hrs of up time. i'm going to RMA this thing
Hi all - first post here...
I have not long had my first HTC handset - and I really like it, but nearly every day I get this 'SOD'...as described here.
I had to remove the battery to wake it up again only this morning.
I have noticed, that it only seems to do this when it can't recieve the weather data (under the HTC clock)? the handset never seems to hang etc while it has this data?
Have others seen this? Could it be a bug?
Why not bring all SOD threads to one?
As I see all SOD's are same on all devices.
There is bunch of symptoms but if you have sod than you are experiencing some or all of the symptoms.
General help is to hard reset few times than flash shipped ROM then hard reset again few times then flash your favorite custom ROM or leave shipped, and reset again few times. And finaly set network to GSM+AUTO in Phone band configuration. Or try to change SIM with another network operator.
All of this helped some people but there is many who did not solve the SOD with this nor anything else.
I know I am posting in more than one thread same thing and it is not double or triple or X posting it is just help request for people who could finaly understand what is problem and help us all.
Sory, and thanks in advance.
Weather is not problem on my device, I did try turn it off, disable auto update of everything .... no difference.
Even I leave it connected to USB and it have the internet connection all time and I do not have SOD, I have DIM of death screen dims not turn of and if I disconect it and pres power to go to stand by or to turn off screen I can not power on device until i pull battery out few times - 4 - 5 timesto be precise or sometimes even more.
I got a new replacement unit and it works fine since. I guess my old unit was really defective
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
I have had to have my handset replaced now. My SOD contiuned and then the Mic gave up and no-one could hear me in calls - made it unusable as a phone. I also had battrey issues where the phone wouldn't charge and the battery meter read wrong.
All seems fine with this replacement handset.....
Well, I have read many thread relating to this but nothing about HD2, so I will show my case.
My HD2 reboot randomly in day, however, after a lot of test, I could point out *WHAT* cause
1. Too hot: When I first buy HD2, although phone could get hot but It never reboot. However, now It will reboot if get hot (too easily). So question is If replacing battery solve problem?
2. Too many applications (RAM issue): The fact not too many, let me show you example, I open SMS, opera with 1 news web tab, google maps and then bingo, *REBOOT* So what s go wrong with my HD2 in this case???
These 2 reboot reason have nothing to do with ROM or Radio or something software relating, I have install nearly every ROM in forum for HD2 (stuck 2 weeks for this test) and no ROM solve problem.
Recover after Reboot:
Well, it really tricks to turn on phone after a random reboot, It stuck in welcome screen and stay there forever how many times I try. The only way to turn on HD2 again is removing battery, let it out for about 2-3 mins (less than will not solve) and then put it back, turn on the HD2 get work again, boot normally. This is really suck, I must assume
----------------------------
So are there any chance to fix these problems without sending HD2 to manufacturer. Any hint is highly appricate
Thanks for help
I had the same problem yesterday. After seaching xda-forums, my conclution is this:
The 3G connection causes the problem. How? I don't know? Can anybody explain?
I disabled the 3D connection and have had no more reboots in 24 hours....
I´ve had reboots with some rom/radio combos.
i just avoided the roms that gave me reboots and the phone has been pretty stable since,
dutty, energie and artemis have all been quite stable.
Alright, so like many people, I tried to play Pokemon GO. I was playing for about 20 minutes on my break at work, and I noticed that as I was switching between it and other apps, my phone was getting pretty laggy and bogged down, to a point where the phone just froze for a minute, then when the screen turned off. I couldn't turn it on for a further minute or so. Eventually after a few minutes of this, the phone just crashed, Upon trying to restart it, it went to the odin screen, saying "mmc_read error", or something like that. I pulled out the battery and let it sit for a few minutes and tried again. It started to boot, but it was stuck on the phone's model splash screen for several minutes, which its never done before. After the phone finally got booted up, it would freeze often, and I would not be able to turn the screen back on for several minutes at a time. This has persisted all night, crashing and freezing for the remainder of my shift. After I got home I tried restarting it again, and the phone wouldn't turn on at all, so I again pulled the battery and let it sit for a while. I've done this a few times now.
Sorry it's a bit lengthy, but I tried to recreate the events of what's happened as best I could. If you need any other info just ask
I have uninstalled the game from my phone now, the phone is completely stock, no roms, not rooted. I do not recall it feeling too hot as if it had overheated
I really am not experienced with issues like this, and I really would not like to have to buy a new phone
Hmm, that error is supposedly of the EMMC failing, now you will be lucky if it was a one time incident. Now to be quite honest I don't think anyone could tell you that whether the problem will come back or not, and you can't do much anyway. I will say if the phone is running okay now, let it. Or if you are really unlucky then the problem will come back, the EMMC might fail permanently. But if you see one or two more reboot incidents like that, I think its fair to conclude that your phone is done mate.
Currently I can turn on the phone, but after I turn the screen off, it won't come back on again
Oh darn mate. You could try to wipe the phone completely from recovery (TWRP) and then flash the stock ROM. Now please don't blame me if the phone gets dead or something after that, cause my Note 3 died just few months back, and it took me a good couple of months to get over that fact. However one thing is for sure, if your emmc is supposed to fail, or motherboard, then it will no matter what.
Hello
I'm getting 1-2 restarts almost daily, and what is consistent is that the phone will short-vibrate once, then a pause of about 8 seconds, then two quick short-vibrates in succession (about .25 sec apart) and then the phone restarts.
This can happen when in my pocket, it can happen while actively using it, can also happen when just sitting there on my desk with screen on. I haven't seen a pattern regarding app use or activity triggering the restart.
I posted a question a month ago about how people with Androids can troubleshoot restarts. There HAS to be a way (app, etc) that allows you to see crashlogs **without** rooting your phone. Yet, I got no replies here to my last post.
Is this really such a hard thing to do with Android? Please, tell me if I'm wrong and missing something completely obvious. I'm right now factory resetting my phone cause I can't figure what's causing this.
Thanks in advance for the help.
I have the some.
Any once have fix for this random reboots ?
Same problem at any moment. And sometimes it stays at a boot loop.
I have changed the firmware to a custom one and the problem persist.
I bought a droid turbo 2 about a year ago, and after a few months of use it was dropped into a sink causing minor water damage. Other than minor screen bleed everything seemed to have been in working order after a few days of drying.
About a week and a half after it finished drying and was in use, the phone shut down and went into a boot loop. It will boot to the motorola M but after 30 seconds it shuts down and restarts.
I have tried doing a verizon update from my computer but after the program says "updated" my phone is unable to restart dissallowing the update. I do have the ability to boot the phone in "fast boot" or "recovery mode", But if i go into recovery mode and do a factory reset the problem persists through it.
I figured the best way to try and fix my phone would be to flash a factory android version onto the phone, but that is where i am running into issues. Maybe it is my lack of understanding of ADB and flashing, but i dont understand how i am supposed to allow debugging on my phone if it is already stuck in a boot loop? I also am running into the issue of my phone not being recognized by the ADB daemon. even though the verizon updater recognizes it and allows for an update. Please any help from somebody with experience with these sorts of things would be extremely appreciated.
Bootloop after disconnecting charger, tried everything
I am having same problem after disconnecting charger from phone, went into bootloop. Did you ever fix yours?
Same problem, different reason.
Goes to Motorola logo and restarts until battery dead. I have flashed up-to-date stock ROM both with "Verizon Software upgrade" program with windows 10(once) and 7(several times), and have flashed with old "RSD lite" in win 7. Both flashing methods worked flawlessly and says "successful". but still looping. Have tried draining battery to totally dead and full recharge, no joy. Can boot into recovery fine. Did full factory resets, etc. Thought battery may be problem, but battery lasted full day or more before needing recharge before problem, and drains normally now with constant restarts, but gets hot. (plugging in to check % charge after restarts says still in 90+% range after many restarts).
I know this is an old thread, but any suggestions are appreciated. Cant understand if flashes good, why cant restart.
Old thread, old problem -- my problem, as well. (In my case it's a hand-me-down phone for experimentation; all my own androids are rooted starting with my first.)
This 'Droid Turb'o 2' worked fine until left alone a while, after which time its battery then seemed to lose its "elasticity" as it were, resulting in poor charging/capacity characteristics, and then shortly thereafter, this annoying and horrid bootloop. (It's also a Verizon phone, they like to "tighten-up" the phones they sell to one, or so I have read.)
All I have to offer really, are my observations, and possibly some insight. My suspicions of something to do with the current flow/battery-drain are also pure conjecture, and perhaps an educated guess at best. I, too, continue to solve this mystery because it's somewhat atypical of my own android experiences, and this is the sort of knowledge that broadens the spectra of engineering as a whole (and the suspense sometimes can give one a hell of a headache).
For now, my conclusion is that this appears to be a problem specific to a particular model that is no longer made, and perhaps for good reason. I still hope to find this mystery solved some day.
