Hi,
In case it helps, I have an up-to-date Galaxy Note 2 ROM list kept here, which includes the GT-N7100, N7105 models.
Someone was asking for a list in the AT&T section, so I thought I'd post this info in each section to tell people.
It's kind of a hobby, but it's kept up-to-date pretty much every day.
Some of you might find it useful.
That's some serious consolidation done there m8! Great job, surely helps!
Thanks.
Just a quick bump in case it can help anyone out who doesn't know about it.
Super awesome. If you could just sort it base wise like touchwiz and aosp.
this is XXXDDDAAA
Hi,
It came to my attention that I'd forgotten to add a few roms from the `Original Android Development' sections for the different carriers.
Sorry about that. Those roms have now been added.
Just a quick bump. The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still regularly updated.
I hope it continues to help people out. As usual most of the ROMs are here at XDA.
Thanks.
Note 2 ROMs
cool thanks
I'm still using my Note 2 (believe it or not). The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still going strong, too - although it has gotten easier with less ROM development.
(This is kind of a thread bump. I'm looking to switch to a Galaxy S8 Edge in the near future, if they are any good.)

Sorry for the boring reply, but I would recommend whichever one you try and like.
MIUI is nice for a change sometimes. Here in Japan, we were limited as to which ROMs we could flash, so I eventually went back to the latest ROMs from the carrier (DoCoMo).
The Galaxy Note 2 is still a nice phone. I'm looking forward to changing devices in the coming months, after having stayed with the Note 2 since it came out.
I pay quite a bit each month here for my phone, so it makes sense to benefit from a newer device if I'm still paying quite a bit each month.
The Note 2 still does everything I need it to do. But after trying other devices in the stores, I realize that they are quicker, lighter, and it's important to freshen up life with new experiences. (I'm kind of old fashioned, so I have to remind myself to change every few years.)
(It can also be tricky getting a 24 month contract when you live abroad and rely on renewing your visa annually.)
.. Go with whichever ROM you like, and read the threads and see how much enthusiasm there is for each one.

Do you know the main ROM thread for that? (It doesn't have to be XDA.)
For example: This thread links to these files.
That ROM you posted the link to is dated as more recent, so it would be nice to know the thread it belongs to.
Thanks.
I dont think theres even a thread but therom works fine. I flashed it some days back @Grant Barker
Only the buttons backlight doesn't work. Other than that everything works fine.

Hi, just wondering what's up. I'd kill for CM12 or 13 on my brand new a5 2016.. what gives?
thanks!
We waited more than a year for the A5 2015 edition to get roms, and there are only about 2 serious developers working on it. It is likely that you will get very little to zero support for your phone, even less if you have the Exynos variant. If you want big custom rom support, buy a flagship or a Nexus. That is the best thing you can do. And what I have realised is before you buy a new phone, first search the XDA forums to see which is more popular and which have the most support.

Hey bro, I'm waiting too for any custom rom on my a3 2016, coz i'm getting sick of using laggy and bad looking touchwiz.
Please Devs, do smething for our devices....
I've always used CM or CM-based custom roms on all my phones, but (never thought I would say this) I'm quite liking TouchWiz. Everything works, no bugs. Good stock apps like calendar, camera and email. Theme engine is good enough. Unbelievable battery life.
Just root, install xposed, and you're good.

:good: Absolutely right! And if you don't like TouchWiz you can use other launchers ... - I think the A5 is one of the best phones I ever bought and do not see the need to use a custom rom.

agree. I have used kf rom for several weeks . but now back to the stock rom
You can port CM by yourself. There are a lot of porting guides on the internet, but... there aren't developers because there aren't much people with that device, maybe later there will be some developer with that phone or maybe not. As jnvdh06 said u have to buy a nexus if you want lots of roms, because google release all sources
Good Hello Everyone,
so I just got my S7 edge today aaand the first thing I do after getting home is obviously visit the S7 edge section on xda! but oh boy... what's this what I'm seeing! or should I say not seeing? basically no roms and not a single custom kernel!!! I'm deceased:crying:.
WHY? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??? :crying:
Development on the S6 was simply great. Switching to a Note 5 well not so great but had some gems. But now "upgrading" to a S7 edge and being faced with this tragedy? Oh man I hope this changes in the near future.
I wouldn't expect any change to the U.S. version. If rooting is really important to you, return the phone while you can.
I have to ask, though: Why didn't you look at XDA before deciding what phone to buy?

I was wondering the same thing.....
Because 2016. Flagships dont really need any development now. The purpose of custom roms was better battery, faster speeds, less lag, etc. But today's flagships already have all of those things. There are no improvements you can make. I have stopped rooting/ROMing my phones since last year because i just dont feel the need anymore. You will probably get a few roms in the future anyway , but I dont think the community will be anywhere near as active as before in the development section.
I'm happy with this phone the way it is actually! So far not missing root for a month now. I shudder to think all the time I spent the past six years rooting, flashing, fixing, etc.
Besides that's what a Nexus is for!

I wouldn't go that far as saying the development has stopped. There are coming custom Rom. Tho, not as many as before, I'll agree with that.
When it comes to custom kernel, you can have a look at this tread
Apparently Samsung priorities security because of Samsung pay.
When it comes to what @mahdibassam says, I disagree. A good example was the S6, who had major bugs from Samsung side. The the first to fix it was this community with the custom roms.
There is always room for improvements.

Well, if a phone is buggy, then that warrants the need for a custom rom. E.g. the LG G4 was in dire need of improvement. But can you give me one area where the S7 edge is lacking and would need a custom rom to fix? I really cant think of any.

If you're happy with the S7 as it is, then that's good. But for me, and many others, the phone ain't complete "mine" until root is there, and maybe some custom roms, where they are already debloated and deodexd.
It's all about custom preference
Especially the kernel part is important for me, as that's the real thing when it comes too set the phone free, and really get the use of all the power the phone holds.

Development will begin, it is still a new phone. The software on S7 is less intrusive but I fully understand you would like a customized device experience and being a flagship device you assumed this one will be well supported by the developers(which it will, just a matter of time).

Is not been released more than a month. We already have root and a handful of Roms.
Not sure why you think development is dead. Just at the moment is not really required as the phones are smooth as it is.

Seriously?
-Viper4Android
-Xposed (and therefore essential modules like Xprivacy, Xtouchwiz, MinMinGuard, YouTube AdAway and App Settings)
-Adblock (non-root ad blocking solutions are mediocre at best)
-AFWall+
-Titanium Backup
-Greenify (will work without root but hibernation of apps needs to be manual)
The list goes on. You can choose not to root, but you can't say improvements can't be made to stock by doing so. That will never be the case in my view.

Of course there are improvements to make. There always is. Stock is never heavily debloated or as efficient as custom, as stock should be over stable.. So customer's don't complain about problems.
If the battery and speed are good stock, you can just make it even better custom. Like change alarms and wakelocks on thing you personally don't need. Debloat things running in the background, hibernate them, set cpu work queues, change network when screen of and so on.

I totally get what you saying guys, I am just giving my own opinion, as you are. Each to their own i guess. I just dont see the need to put myself through the hassle of root and recovery and the manually flashing every update through recovery, and then a clean install with every new base and etc. The phone is just good enough as it is out of the box, FOR ME. I would love to have Greenify again, but frankly the battery life is just really good and I dont feel the need to go through the trouble to get it , and I have never used Xposed anyway.
But all in all, what puts me off from going the custom rom way these days is 1) The phone is just perfect as it is (again, for me) 2) I cant be bothered to flash every update through recovery and etc and do a clean flash with every new base and all the other stuff that comes with custom roms
But hey, this is the beauty of android isnt it, it caters to everyone, including me and you

Ad blocking on non-root is via VPN. It's ropey and unreliable at best. Certainly it doesn't hold a candle to what can be achieved with root and proper hosts editing. Also, Xprivacy for me is essential, I'd go so far as calling it my most important application. Combine it with a firewall like AFWall+ and, in terms of privacy, my phone is locked down. Non-root firewalls, like non-root ad blockers, work on VPN, and are again unreliable in comparison. Plus you can't protect against data leaks on boot. But I guess it comes down to what we want from our phones.
LOL. Does this question really need to be asked? If you look around in the forums you'll see that the dev community for this phone is almost non-existent because of its locked bootloader.

It's best bang for your bucks for 300$. This phone is a beast it's flying through everything you throw at it and battery is crazy good.
There is some Roms for it if you like flashing them for different tastes. Roms are good, they similar I think just different flavours like I said, it work well most of them.

What do you expect honestly? You want top of the range hardware AND top software and development AND you expect the phone to cost 250dollars? You cant have all of these things for such money. You want more software development? Buy oneplus 3t, it has exactly what you want. Same hardware as le pro 3, just smaller battery and better amoled screen, also costs 200dollars more. Dont want spending more? This ia best device for money, end of story
All roms are same or similar, function of the phone is the same. Just some people addicted of flashing them.
We need few roms that work good thats enough. This phone had more than few good roms.

There is official lineage os 13 running on my phone right now which works quite well. I was afraid you would ask , it's relatively poor. Relatively! I use it "normally", meaning whatsapp, telegram, Facebook, emails, a smartwatch keeps Bluetooth on, and I check news like 5 times a day. With that and putting it in flight mode over night, it lasts 2 days with around 3 - 5 hours SOT. Turbo's roms lasted around 50 % longer, standby and SOT, but in 2 different versions of his my phone didn't collect emails and messages which is a no go for me.
And lastly, my previous LG G4 lasted one day under those conditions, so I'm still quite happy.

Compared to stock, not great. BUT, compared to other devices, it is comparable.
I don't want to open a new thread for one question so I will ask here:
does this phone have dual-4g or one of SIMs have to work on GSM, just like in le1 pro?
Dual 4g, I use Vodafone for everything and have another 3gb lte data only from t-mobile in slot 2 as backup.

Hi John, quite limited development on this board for the U Ultra so far. Perhaps in a few weeks when the devices get out there a bit more?
Based on the current pricing, a lot of people are holding out for a G6 or S8, so if HTC drops the price on this, it might help with development.
If people think this phone is expensive look at the S8 and S8+ prices lol. Yea hopefully the price drops on this phone. I'm disappointed there are no development so far. This is the longest a phone I owned has been running a stock rom.

Well I waited a year for custom roms to be available for my galaxy s7. I was only running modified stock roms, no AOSP till about 9 months after the phone was released. Hopefully it wouldn't be that long for this one!
The biggest obstacle is having support for the second screen. If it's accomplished the LGV10&20 might become better devices
Still no LineageOS port? In Germany you can get the device atm for 222 Euro at MediaMarkt, what a price drop in only one year..

I would install Lineage 15.1 without support for the second screen for sure.
The problem is that no Lineage developer have this phone. This phone was undersold, and now it's pushing a little bit through by selling it under $300. But I think it's a little bit late
Hopefully, just 1 lineage os developer takes the lead and ports Lineage 15.1 to this phone forgetting about the mini screen

Well without the second screen it's a little unesthetic I tried
Ubuntu via linuxdeploy. And as I said ugly AF. And I want to look fukscreen video it's really annoying.
But shouldn't it be quite easy to take the source code for the second screen as a flashable mod? Kind of like viper or flash camera mod for u11?
Now I'm not a developer I just started writing and so far I just writing bash and python. But got the idea when I flashed debloat via magisk and second screen was listed at apps.
Anyways haven't tried to flash lineage yet.
I was thinking like flash lineage and then flash second screen mod. Is it super hard to accomplish? Just curious and have a big interest in minimalistic os and so on.
Beat regards.
