Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ (SM-G982F) messed up - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can't really say what's going on with the phone since it was a "spare phone" that I've been given just to try to fix it up.This is what I know so far :
The smartphone had a custom android 9 version and had several issue such as being unresponsive and crashes.As of right now the phone won't boot, to phrase it better it does but all I get is a sort of light blue screen with a some sort of ghosting effect (looks like the old lock screen since I can barely see the time and part of the BG) but it looks like completely dead.It seems like it's possibile to boot in odin mode but to me it just seems to straight up freeze (granted that I have no experience with android nor custom roms) this is the info on screen :
Odin mode; Download speed : fast; Product name : SM-G928F; Current binary : Official Samsung; System settings : Custom; FRP Lock : Off;, Secure download : Enabled; RP SWREV: B:5 K:0 S:1;And then the downloading screen.I've been able to "try" to flash a ROM but it either ends up freezing halfway or at the start but most of the time I just get straight up errors on Odin.Oh and going in odin mode seems like random, the phone at times will just stay dead and turn on after 30 minuets and then rebooting, at times it will go straight to and the different button combinations don't seem really consistent in what they do.
At this moment the phone isn't recognized by Windows (either "device not recognized"/not showing at all or showing as something else) and constantly shuts down seconds later I get in download mode.
Phone doesn't always turn on, at times it only boots when sitting on a Qi-plate.
As of right now this is what I've done :
Going in odin mode, tried to flash the stock android 7.0 rom of my model, trying to re-partion with its PIT but nothing seemed to work. The most I've got out of it was the half way through freeze while flashing, now I can't even start the actual flashing that I get errors/freezes.
Thanks to anyone that has any clue of what I can do, sorry for the mess!
More info :
Got my ROM from Samfirm.I've tried flashing with the latest version (August 2018 I think) with no result. Tried with Odin 3.09/10/13 with no success.Tried AP+PIT and all 4+PIT and no PIT at all with mixed results (stuck halfway or at the beginning).Flashing gives either Re-partition failed, complete write operation failed, stuck on setupconnection/initializing and cannot open serial com port.

[Q] Stuck at boot screen - Odin gives "complete(write) operation failed

Ok so this is my first post, hope I'm in the right section. This will be a long post as I've tried everything I could find to fix my problem.
So I bought a Fido Samsung Galaxy S4, I9505 SGH-I337M from an online auction site (not ebay). The phone is completely stock, its not rooted, no customer recovery, nothing. Phone was in wayyyyy better shape than I expected, I would say near mint with original box, charger, cable etc. Everything worked great except the wifi, as other people have reported it would not turn on, toggle switch would move over and attempt to turn on, but after 15 seconds or so it would switch back to off. I also tried 3rd party apps to manage wifi connections without any luck. It was running the firmware ending in NE1 so I thought updating it to the newer firmware, NI2, might have this fix. Since I couldn't connect to wifi I figured I should do it manually following the instructions I found on sammobile.com. So I downloaded Odin 3.07 and the new firmware that IS the right one for my phone. I shut off the phone, pulled the battery, put it back in, and put it into download mode. I connected the phone, Odin detected it, I selected the firmware and press start. It took a few minutes and then failed (this was a few days ago, I don't remember the exact error I received). So, I tried again but it kept failing, so I shut off the phone, pulled the battery and turned it on. It booted to the screen with the exclamation mark that says a firmware error occurred and to use Kies to recovery it. I tried using Kies but it wouldn't detect the phone. I ended up using a fix I found that had me flash some file that started with philz_touch something like that. It was from a youtube video called "firmware upgrade encountered an issue for s4 fix".
And that fixed that part, as I could now get back into download/odin mode. When I turn the phone on it just sits at the "Samsung Galaxy S4" screen, no blue light or flashy graphic. It will just sit there forever. Obviously there is a problem so here is what I've tried so far to get Odin to work.
Using Odin 3.07 I tried flashing the firmware ending in NE1. Odin confirmed MD5, but after pressing start only a few seconds later I get "There is no PIT partition"
So I tried to find a PIT file and did. So I shut off the phone, unplugged it, pulled the battery, and put it back into download mode. I closed and reopened Odin 3.07 and used the PIT file I found and the NE1 firmware. This time it failed again within seconds with the error saying "complete(write) operation failed". I have tried 3 different firmwares, with 3 different USB ports, with and without the PIT file, and with both Odin 3.07 and Odin 3.10. I've also tried doing it with my antivirus deactivated. Samsung Kies still won't detect my phone when its connected, but Odin detects it every time.
When I try going into recovery mode I get
"Recovery booting.....
Recovery is not Seandroid enforcing
Set warranty bit : recovery"
It just sits there and nothing happens. Pressing any button does nothing except power as I can shut it off.
So I'm at a complete loss of what to try next. I've tried every solution I could find so I'm hoping someone has a suggestion of what I could try. PLEASE HELP ME!!

[Q] [HELP] i9505 stuck in a continous boot loop!

Hello to everybody from xda!
I'm facing a problem with an Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 and since i've tried everything I knew, decided to post my problem here, looking for a solution.
Thank you in advance!
The background:
- international variant (i9505), unlocked, bought second hand in september 2014 and working fine for about two months; at the moment of the purchase it was running 4.4.2 and was rooted with TowelRoot; as I said the phone was running very well for two months, untill I (wrong!) decided to flash it with odin;
- downloaded from samfirmware.com the ROM
I9505XXUFNB8_I9505COAFNB1_I9505XXUFNB8_HOME.tar.md5 and flashed it;
AFTERWARDS I READ ABOUT CSC AND EVERYTHING AND I UNDERSTOOND THAT I HAVE A CSC NAMED SIM, APPARENTLY COMING FROM SI MOBIL Slovenia.
- rooted the phone with TowelRoot, everything was ok 'till one day when started to freeze and restart; considering that i had a large number of apps installed and was a hard work to try looking for the one wich determined the restarts I decided to flash again;
- after the second flash, using the same archive as before, the phone became insane;
a. freezing multiple times at the configuration screen which appears after flashing (where you config your language, Google account etc);
b. if successfully pass the config part without crash, it was inevittably crashing after;
c. sometimes i succeeded to use it for about 24 hours, installing everything when it freezed again;
The freezing is happening like that: first the screen refuses to respond, in about 3-4 seconds it appeared like in my attachament (black lines) for about 1 sec., then restarted itself.
After restart sometimes is entering into software again, sometimes is stuck at the Samsung I9505 logo or ar the simple Samsung Logo (with that blue flame animation). Stuck here, sometimes is restarting itself, sometimes gets just blocked here and nothing to do.
Also, sometimes is easy to enter in Recovery Mode, sometimes i keep pressing the buttons but not a chance.
Tried with TWRP, CWM or even stock recovery.
Once, when I had the chance to use it more that 2 hours without restart, I installed CyanogenMod. It worked well for about 3 days and then restarted again and the sympthoms are the same ar above.
I thought that it's because of the battery, but no. I have two batteries, both of them starting with AA (S/N and one starting with TH.
It's the same with any of them.
I flashed multiple types of ROMs, all officials from sammobiles:
I9505XXUFNB8_I9505COAFNB1_I9505XXUFNB8_HOME.tar.md5
I9505XXUGNG8_I9505OXXGNG2_I9505XXUGNG8_HOME.tar.md5
and others.
Other details:
- all the flashes were made with odin 3.0.9, with full wipe and cache wipe, and dalvik;
- all flashes were made with original USB cable;
- sometimes when blocked at the logo boot animation it gets very hot at the upper part of the screen and camera, and also battery;
- sometimes it accepts to restart if I get the battery out for 5 minutes and then I repower the device; or sometimes only if i put it to recharge.
I flashed the .pit file (for this model, i'm sure), because in odin i was told INVALID PIT INFORMATION or something similar.
What can I do? Please help!

Flash this custom rom it uses different firmware which is super stable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706844 (Imperium Rom) Custom roms are always far better than stock mate. Good luck! just use TWRP and you are good to go. dont forget to factory reset first before flashing.
xDroidZz thanks for your reply, I'll try.
Anyone else has some other suggestions?
*** LATER EDIT ***
Now has some other sympthoms: it enters in Download Mode, but it refuses to enter in Recovery Mode (actually, keeping VolumeUp+Home+Power pressed starts the device but the blue text in the upper left corner is not appearing because immediately after powering up, the I9505 logo appears and the device restarts).
It could be a hardware problem? I hope not, since I have no warranty.
*** LATER EDIT ***
Later I told you that I flashed the .pit file (for this model, i'm sure) for several times, because in odin.exe i was told INVALID PIT INFORMATION or something similar.
The exact error was:
<ID:0/006> Added!!
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..

But I saw that if I remove and reconnect the USB cablu (original), this error stops from appearing.
When I initially got my device off Swappa, it had come with SI Mobil firmware (I9505XXUGNG8, I9505OMDGNG1, I9505XXUGNG8, CSC SIM). After encountering an issue where the phone's carrier locking reactivated and having the SIM card slot fail at the same time, then fixing that issue by replacing the slot, downgrading to Jellybean and running RegionLock Away, I upgraded to an unbranded UK Black Edition firmware (I9505XXUGNJ8, I9505YXYGNK1, I9505XXUGNJ8, CSC BTU). The current version of the firmware has been updated since then, and in the case of my phone actually sets the CSC to AUT. But it's still unbranded.
I've never had to use the PIT file on this device, but from what I recall, running the PIT file too often can cause issues. What I would recommend here would be to use the original cable and install the aforementioned Black Edition firmware to see if that can correct your issue. From there, once you've determined the phone is working properly, then you can go and install a custom recovery and ROM.
P.S. Not all cables are created equal. I personally am lucky in that the dollar store USB cable I have on my PC works perfectly with Odin. For best results however, both you and I should be using the original cable.
Thank you very much, Strephon Alkhalikoi!
I started the download of the Black Edition firmware from the link you gave me, hope it will work..
I'll write as soon as the flashing process is finished.
*** LATER EDIT ***
Nop, it's not working.. even if odin says everything went ok, after the auto-reboot the phone remains at the i9505 logo screen and with the blue text in the upper left. So is not entering into Recovery Mode.
What should I do? Sell it for 99 EURO?
Situation update:
Last night I flashed with odin the UK Black Edition firmware which Strephon Alkhalikoi recommended me; after the "OK" message odin gave me the phone restarted, the i9505 logo appeared with the blue text in the upper left part and nothing more. It refused to go further into that part where the tiny android looks like working and a blue bar in loading below (see the atachament for figurind out what I mean).
As I tried more than 20 times to enter into Recovery Mode, I ceased and went to sleep, letting the phone with the battery out!
In the morning I gave another try and at the second attempt it entered into the screen I showed you before, loaded untill, maybe, 50% and then stopped (freezed) and restarted itself.
I then tried to enter into Recovery Mode and worked from the first time. I tried to install Imperium ROM which the other user recommended (also, even if I had the microSD installed, it said install microSD, I took the card in and out and worked), but I received some error regarding header.
I restarted the phone and booted succesfully from the first time. I configured the phone and started using it.
I made some config. and installed some software, it worked like a charm.
At 6 PM I installed several apps from Play! (so nothing like GravityBox, rooting things and so on), things like DropBox, RedBall 4, Timely etc. and in the meantime I was listening to some music also in the Music section of Play!, when, suddently, the phone freezed, a black thin line appeared in the middle and the phone restarted, freezing itself at the i9505 logo and refusing to go further.
I booted into Recovery (from the first time), I wiped the cache and after that the phone was successfully booted again.
Aldo I like that it works again, I am afraid that the problem did not solved and I cannot use it day by day since it may freeze over the night and I could miss some important events in the morning because of that..
What else do you recommend me to do?

dont know else what to do. but great it worked.
Try to flash stock if you still can.
good luck!
Today it happened again, this time it shutted down itself, right after I connected it to the PC via original USB cable.
Took the battery away, powered it up after, successfully booted.
In 3 minutes from booting it restarted again, and booted again successfully.
Battery: 84%, not the BD series.
I also had a microSD of 64GB inside it, made by Hama.
Wtf is happening ?

try to remove your sdcard and your sim card and use your phone and wait when it happens again. i know it isnt really related to that but maybe worth a try. and Factory reset after doing that.
For God's sake, I'll destroy it!
It rebooted again and this time remained at the i9505 logo.
Even after wipe cache and factory reset still refused to boot properly.

Bad luck for you mate. I dont think its really hardware related. Sell it and buy a new one. My last suggestion doe. Not the best actually but moving to another phone is a really good start for 2015 hahah

Thank you for your support, also thanks to the other user.
I did not managed to make it useable for more than 24 hours and since my phone is part of my life, keeping almost everything in there, including my morning alarm, I decided to sell it and buy another one, hopefully that I'll get a trustfull device.
I am thinking at a Nexus 5, or maybe another S4? Dunno, but i would nou go back to S4 .

Go straight to new flagship phones if you can like the OnePlusOne,LG G3,S5,Note 4,Z3,Z3 compact,One M8 etc,NEXUS 6.
But S4 still great phone for me doe with its specs and camera. If you want to be the first in line for upgrades go for the nexus 5. But lolipop on the s4 is almost here. Good luck choosing.
For How much did you sell it?
Sent from my SM-N910S using XDA Free mobile app
I sold it to some guy which will make it parts and sell them separately, for 550 lei, meaning about 120 EURO.

S4 i9505 wont go past the screen it boots on.

So I don't really know how to describe this best but I'll try to explain it.
So my fathers old S4 just randomly crashed one day and when he tried to boot it back up it just got stuck on the boot screen. And since it was beginning to get old anyways he decided to get an new phone and ended up getting an S8.
His pictures and such were stored on an SD Card so he was able to easily move those files over. But since it refused to boot back up he couldn't get the files of it. And so I decided to try to help him as I'm quite familiar messing with Android and so I flashed TWRP on there to try to get the files of it as I knew that TWRP has support for MTP.
But just one problem, when I had moved about 40% of the files it just randomly crashed again. And now I can't get into the recovery anymore as it just gets stuck on Recovery booting. And most times it wont even react to me holding the power button or plugging it in.
I decided to reflash TWRP and it's still not working and the issue described above is still true.
Any ideas on how to get those files of it? :|
Once I get those files off I will reflash stock and see if everything is working but I wont reflash stock through Odin until the files are on my PC.
Thanks for any help!
Tested:
Download mode - Succesfully got into, can flash through Odin. (Edit: 2018-06-29, trying to flash TWRP again, Odin gets stuck on "Initializaltion")
Recovery mode - Used to work but phone crashed during MTP file transfer and now it gets stuck on recovery booting (I have TWRP flashed).
Starting - Stuck on Samsung Galaxy S4 logo, wont even go past to the animated Samsung one.
Safe mode - Not sure if it registred as me going into safe mode, but it did show the animated Samsung logo until it froze after about 10 seconds and a few seconds after that the screen went black, but the notification LED was still on.
Charging - When I first tried charging it after the file transfer failed (It was at 10% according to TWRP during the file transfer and it was only about 7-8 GBs of files and I thought that it should last for long enough while being plugged in) the phone didn't respond in any way, after a while it started to heat up so I knew it was charging. Then after trying some more things I plugged it in again this time it showed the logo it shows right before it starts showing you the charging animation but got stuck there. Then just now when I plugged it back in it got past that and showed the actual animation, but just when I was hoping it had started functioning as it should it just crashed and the screen went black. This is a reocurring problem with basically all parts of the system, the screen goes black and it doesn't vibrate or anything, and after this happens I can't turn it on until I've taken the battery out and let it rest for a few moments.
*Edit: After testing all of these things I realise that the title of this thread is a bit missleading, but I hope you understand.
*Edit 2: In download mode it says that Binary and System are custom even though I haven't modified it more than installing TWRP? Other things it says: KNOX Kernel Lock: 0x0. KNOX Warranty Void: 0x1. CSB-CONFIG-LS0: 0x30. WRITE PROTECTION: Enable. eMMC BURST MODE enabled. (I think this is what might be causing the issue but have no idea on what it is yet)
The problem isn't that eMMC Burst Mode is enabled, as that is normal for the S4. What you're dealing with is an eMMC failure. In short, the flash memory has gone belly up and died on you. You can try flashing again through Odin using a PIT file, but I believe your dad's S4 is now only suitable for spare parts.

I was kinda thinking that was the problem, what exactly would flashing the PIT file do and would it wipe /data? Also, thank you so much for the help as I wasn't exactly sure what the eMMC Burst Mode meant and thought that it might have been the problem.
PIT = Partition Information Table. Using one will re-partition the internal storage. It can correct corruption, but at the price of the data on the device. Realistically, I don't think the PIT file will help here. The eMMC would have to be replaced, which is simply not worth doing for a five year old device.

Samsung S8 Bootlog Odin Q

Hi everyone
I'm reasonably tech-savvy (self-trained) and usually can fix my own devices. I'm reluctant to pay $80 to the phone guys for something I might be able to do myself.
I have an S8, on the back of the phone it says it is a SM-G950FD, however on the download mode it says it is SM-G950F.
My Mum brought it online and never used it so it came to me about a year ago, but despite the fact we're based in NZ, it was actually shipped from the UAE #dontbuycheapphonesonlinemum
Yesterday it started an update, but then has got stuck in a bootlog cycle. It restarts itself, goes to the Samsung Galaxy S8 screen, stays there for a couple of minutes, goes to the blue Android instalilng system screen for about 4 seconds... switches off and restarts.
I've tried a force restart (power + up key) but it just repeats the cycle.
I've tried to get into recovery mode (up + bixby + power) by holding all those keys down as it exits the blue android screen and restarts... but, it continues the cycle.
I've tried running the battery down by letting it repeat the restart/logo/android/restart cycle forever, knowing that you need to turn it off to get into recovery mode, but the moment you plug it back in to the charger, it turns itself on (i don't even have to push anything). So, I can't get into recovery mode to wipe the cache which is the next thing the internet suggests.
I can, however, get into download mode. And this is where I want to check that what I'm planning is safe/correct
In download mode, the first few lines read:
SM-G950F
Current Binary: Samsung Official
FRP Lock: On
OEM: Lock ON
Secure Download: Enabled
CCIC = S2MM005 hw: 6 boot: 7 main:43
Carrier_ID XSG
Warranty Void: 0 (0x0000)
RP B:10 K: 9 S:0
(I can post more if helpful.)
So, it seems like the next best option is to flash the right version using Odin? This is the step new to me.
Based on the Carrier ID being XSG, and it being from the UAE, and what it says physically on the back, I think this is the right file to use: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s8/firmware/sm-g950fd/XSG/. So I plan to roll it back to the 10/19 update. Is that correct? Or should I go to the oldest version which is from May 2017, and then let it update once its sorted.
Please let me know if I have missed any steps or could try something else.
Thanks for your help!

CCIC = S2MM005 hw: 6 boot: 7 main:43

If in download mode it states G950F then thats the model it is. G950FD is the dual sim version.
To answer about the firmware, I always flash the BTU version. This is UK Unlocked version.
Also, if it is currently on the latest firmware then you won't be able to flash an older firmware from a previous android version, you cannot downgrade BL.

Turned this phone into a brick and I need to fix it!

Hi, so, I got this phone from a friend, and he told me that the phone was working prorperly, but after someone factory resetted it, he wasn't able to set it up. Constant force close pop-ups where showing up while setting it up, and you weren't able to accept terms and conditions (button grayed out). Also, one thing I noticed. The phone got into "Factory Mode". Idk what that is, but it wouldn't let me to enable wifi or bluetooth. That little Factory mode thingy got me really confused. Also, I wanted to boot into recovery mode, and I wasn't able to do so. After turning the phone off, and doing the key combo to boot into recovery, the phone rebooted itself (very showrtly after doing the startup vibration) and after that, it seemd to get into recovery, but it stayed at the android logo with an exclamation sign and after 3 seconds it rebooted itself to system.
After that I said, "well, last thing to try is flashing stock rom again". And I did so. Using the Frija software to download the latest version of android for this phone (and using the corect CSC for this phone (CTI)). I used odin 3.12.7 (wich I knew it works because of previously using it with other phones) to flash the stock rom again. I made sure that only Auto-reboot and F.reset time were checked, and started flashing. After it finished, it got to the samsung logo, but got stuck there. Nothing happened (I left the phone there for like 30 min). I decided to hard-reboot the phone and try to factory-reset it, but after shutting it down, it started to be really hard to make the phone turn on. I had to unplug the battery and wait like 10 mins to try again, and I still wasnt able to boot into recovery mode. It just got stuck at the "Galaxy Core 2" logo.
After that first boot, the phone never got passed the "Galaxy Core 2" logo. Just stuck there. After that, things just begun to get worse. It was also hard to get the phone to get into download mode, most of the time it just stayed at a blackscreen (im not shure if the phone ever turned on, but it never vibrated) and did nothing. I decided to try other versions of odin. Tried with 3.09 and 3.04. Nothing, and after every flash, it got harder and harder to make the phone boot.
At this point, I can hardly get the phone into download mode, and if I do so, sometimes I get the odin complete write operation failed error, wich the only way that I've found to solve it is to reboot again the phone into download mode.
I know that the battery is working, I have another core 2 (same exact model) and battery is ok. At this moment I don't know what else to do. Please, help me to get this brick of a phone back to working conditions, I dont want my friend to buy a new phone just to use it to recive calls and charge it.
Some extra notes:
As i've read, sometimes this can be caused by the replacement of the digitizer/screen. This phone seems to have one or both of them replaced, since I can see glue residues on the corners of the glass, where it touches with the plastic frame.
If there is anything hardware related thing to try, I can try to open the phone. I have some experience doing so.
EDIT: As I continued reading through this forum, I found out that some people had luck with Odin3_v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD, so I decided to try it out and see. Still, nothing changed. As today, I can only use this phone to charge the battery (it dosent actually show the percentage, only the battery icon with a loading icon inside) and boot into download mode
Although, I have to say that after flashing the stock rom with that version of odin made the phone not that hard to start in download mode. I think that it could be something that got corrupted on the eMMC module and it has to repartition it all again...? Does anyone know how to do so?
Regards
Well, tried almost everithing I know. Downloaded rom again with binary nature, tried with odin version 3.12.7, 3.13.1_3b patched and 3.13.3, but nothing. Extracted the PIT file from the CSC file, did repartition, NAND wipe, and nothing changed. I have to say that its certaily easier to get the phone in download mode, but thats almost it. One thing to note, when i select the NAND wipe, it dosent seems to do anything. I mean, in odin Log screen some things appear related to NAND wiping and such, but its really fast and there are only 2 or 3 lines dedicated to that. Is that OK?
Anyway, please, any recoomendation or thing to try would be great, since this phone is now trash, it dosent matters if it starts to get worse, or even unusable (more than it is rn).
Regards
