In case you don't get the info you want, maybe you can convert gif to jpg.
If however you want to use an animated gif, that's another story.
I understand that live wallpapers are short vids--maybe you can transfer your gif frames to the appropriate vid format.
I noticed that there is an app on play store called Video Live Wallpaper that changes any number of video formats into a live wallpaper.
Good luck.

Search isn't my friend today or something. How do I see filename or movie title instead of a snapshot of the first frame in the movie? Having 6 black squares in the Album view makes it kind of difficult to pick a movie. This is for in Touchflow's built-in media player.
Please tell me there's a way to see what movie files are in the album besides cropping the videos so that their first frame has something recognizable.
I had this problem. But now I open all my films in file explorer ;-) They default starts in album.
Hmm, a bit clunky, but if nobody can suggest a more graceful solution that'll have to do.
is it possible to have actual moving wallpapers such as gifs and videos on the hero and if so how?
no
.
Found the keys and files for the startup and shutdown animations. Not only are they jerky, they're 3.2MB each!
Any recommendations for file resolution to replace them? Anyone know if jpeg is supported as well as gif?

Appears to be .gif only. Sample jpeg didn't work. Used a small sample .gif as well. Not sure yet if startup time is faster, but shutdown time certainly is.

You can use advanced config 3.3 to set the startup/shutdown animations and sounds and also the time out for splash screen, etc.
I was wondering if it would be possible to make an App like the Avatar App or Inception App on the Vibrant/4G for different movies? Has anyone done this before? Thanks.

It would help those us that have no idea what those apps do if you would explain what it is you want to do in a little more detail.
i like this idea, would be pretty cool. instead of searching for it through the gallery.

The app would just link to the movie file. For example, the Avatar App when clicked would simply load up the Avatar movie, Inception app would load up Inception movie.
Where is the actual movie file?
At any rate, you can play a video file, local or networked, using the MediaPlayer class and a SurfaceView.

the video file is located on either the internal or external memory. The app will just be a shortcut to the file. So instead of having to go to the gallery and clicking on it, the app will open the file in a video player.
See how it works at 10:29 in this video.

I want to create a live wallpaper for my N4 using a video I plan on shooting. I have found some "simple" instructions online that are exceeding difficult. Is anyone aware of a simple GUI or 'drag and drop' type application that I can use to convert a video file into something that can be set as a live wallpaper?
