Need help flashing stock firmware. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hello good people at XDA, it's been quite a while since I have had an android phone, and am currently stuck, I reset my SM-G950W ( Canadian S8 ) and I can't seem to flash stock firmware back onto it. I used a .tar.md5 to flash the current one, but can't seem to find a .tar for the stock firmware, and adding the BL/AP/CP/CSC manually from the downloaded packaged result in odin doing nothing or failing. Could really use some help with my expensive brick :3

First make sure u put phone into download mode if u trying to flash something with Odin, use sammobile ,samfirm app for PC or updato.com for faster download speed and download firmware for your model ,use latest Odin 3.13.3 and flash it via Odin while your phone is in download mode

That's what I've been doing
Odin seems to hang after I press start every time ( doesn't freez , just does nothing for al ong time then fails )
I'm using a G950W which is the Canadian model, but as I said every G950W FW I think I find is just not working. Tried admin mone on odin and new usb ports... I was able to flash the Factory Settings rom on there , but can't seem to get anything else

[Q] Won't boot after MobileOdin flashed Baseband

Hi,
I just tried to flash the baseband "I9505XXUGNG2-MODEM" with MobilOdin to the S4 (i9505) with installed CyanogenMod 11 (last nightly). After reboot the phone displays the Samsung S4 logo and after this a black screen with a fast flashing very smal pink triangle in the center of the screen which moves from left to right and start over.
What is this and how can i get the phone to work again?
Thanks
I have the exact same problem. Bought Mobile Odin and tried to flash with it, and this happened. I dont know about you but for me it wont even go into recovery mode. The only thing seemingly working here is download mode, but Odin cant find my i9505, even tho its able to find my old Galaxy S(1).
Are we having the same problem? Is there anyone that can help?
Odin worked for me in the download mode so I had luck to find a solution.
I flashed TWRP with ODIN. After this I could enter TWRP on the S4 again. But the normal boot still didn't worked. So I flashed the last nightly CM11 (the zip was still on the phone) from within TWRP. After this the S4 booted fine again without any data loss
That's because you can't use MobileOdin to flash a modem if you have the new bootloader.
I am glad u found a solution hitziflitzi.
However im not as fortunate at this moment. Anyone got any idea what i can do? Im in the same spot as he was, except Odin for PC wont recognize my phone, even tho it recognized my old phone just fine.
Help would be much appreciated

hi mate
what odin are you using , did you see what @Lennyz1988 said?
Hi there
On pc i have tried these versions of Odin:
1.83
1.85
3.04
3.06
3.07
3.10
They all find my galaxy S1 but non of them can find my S4 :\
When i connect my S4 to the computer it says "usb device not recognized"
As for MobileOdin i used the newest at that time, fresh off play store.
At the time i flashed i was not aware that i couldnt use MobileOdin as Lennyz1988 said, it all seemed to be safe and easy when i used the app.
Help is much appreciated

Hi mate
Did you try this:
Odin troubleshooting: If Odin accidentally gives you "fail" try the following:
- Repeat procedure.
- Make sure that all actions of Kies are disabled from task manager.
- Change usb port.
- Try another usb cable (make sure it is the original).
- Try another Odin version.
- Uninstall and re-install driver.
- Use pit file.
- Try another computer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
If all that fail , try this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO7TVY2UXEY
See if it works, reflash stok rom again , backup first , EFS too
I have tried all that unfortunately.
I dont know what to do when my pc finds my old phone(s1), but not my new one (s4). It found my s4 all fine before i flashed with mobile odin, but after that i cant boot or go into recovery, only put it into download mode.
Is my phone dead? Do i have to buy a new one? :\

Think I've bricked my i9505 when updating Lollipop. Help!

Hi. I'll try to be as detailed as possible.
I have been using the Lollipop 5.0.1 I9505XXUHOA7 German ROM that got leaked early last month, and have just had a few niggling issues, like no silent mode.
So, I looked at SamMobile yesterday and found that there are later versions of Lollipop for the S4 that fixed things like silent mode. I obtained I9505XXUHOB7.
However, when using Odin to flash it to my phone, each and every time, it has gotten to the very end of system.img.ext4 (takes about 5 minutes), and then fails at the very end. I've tried a number of things including a different cable and different USB ports, flashing a new recovery and trying to reboot through that, and even obtaining the CSB_signed_Fusion3_EUR_0325_V2.pit file to Re-partition. At this stage, I don't care if I lose files. I keep most stuff backed up. Just really want my phone to be up and running again, and not too sure what to do.
When I flashed the I9505XXUHOA7, it came with Bootloader, PDA, Phone and CSC to use within Odin, whereas any of the newer ROMs don't seem to have anything but the .tar.md5 file to use in PDA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
Mate, when you download the file in Sammobile you only get 1 .tar file.. it comes with everything.. not like the leaked OA7
1. try using the latest odin 10.6 i think, AP to flash Firmware
2. Reinstall drivers to your PC
3. Or try to redownload a firmware again.. latest is OC6... it might be a bad download too..
4. Refrain using .pit file.... no good at all! Specially for official firmware...
I always brick my phone before and i had no issues flashing diff firmwares from diff country
Did you try flashing the OA7 again? The leaked OA7 (4 files + pit) is a service firmware and should fix issues like these (just to make it running again). After success, you should try an other firmware f.e. OB8 (maybe a bad download?)

Note 3 Factory Data Reset Daily -

Ok - haven't seen this problem anywhere - all I see are posts and articles regarding how to get it off the Samsung screen during boot... Which is a Factory Data Reset... I have to FDR my phone daily.. not running anything custom (accept this was originally a Rent-A-Center phone - and I know they have a special system built in to kill the phone if its not paid for etc... Was paid off well over a year ago)
How do I fix this?? Do I have to root and install a custom ROM?? Do I have to do something else? Having to FDR every day, and sometimes twice is becoming rather annoying.

Do I have to use KIES for that, or is there a better way to do it? I have not flashed anything before... I know it is a little different than installing an OS on a computer.

Nope, you just download Odin (PC software) and download stock firmware (search in Sammobile or Updato) and look for a tutorial on how to flash software through Odin and you're all set

Ok - Update..
I have searched both Updato and Sammobile - nothing but European and otherwise non-USA Firmware - I also cannot get Odin - or frankly Kies to work either... Kies does not find the device, and Odin acts like it is there, but nothing I put in it is working..
CWM Recovery? Nada... Doesnt do anything through Odin - just stares at me -
ADB and FB? They briefly flash on my PC screen and vanish - no options to do anything... I have updated the Samsung USB drivers 4 times... So I am not sure what to do next..
Thanks for the help so far!

What's your phone's model? It doesn't have to be carrier-specific to be able to flash it.
Also, try TWRP instead of CWM recovery, devs seem to prefer TWRP overall.
SM-N900T is the model number.. I'll give TWRP a shot next. Maybe I'll have better luck with it.
Could the RAC software be putting a wall up that I can't get through? I bricked a phone I was getting through them once because I tried to update Android through Kies (on an S5) and discovered they don't use stock ROM's with their phones.

I've got a N900T and I've found software in both Sammobile and Updato, I don't know why you're not finding anything (N900T is supposed to be T-Mobile's variant)
Anyway, I would try out the following tutorial: Link
I found it very useful when I wanted to completely flash my phone clean and root.
I am not sure about what roadblocks you could have of this phone being a RAC phone, but if you still want to give it a try I'd suggest you try out the tutorial I showed you

I think my s7 edge SM-G935F its now just a brick...

I wanted to update my s7 edge to oreo via odin. So, i think i just flash it bad (instead of put one archive in bl i put other in ap, idk things like that). so i saw it told me An error has occurred while updating the device
software. Use the emergency recovery function in Smart Switch. I tried flashing again the firmware in odin but it just stuck in initialization. I just tried in diferent version of odin nor switch mode.
I tried with diferent usb cable nor other usb port
When i try to recover it with switch mode it just tell that it cant because it isn´t compatible (I even put the s/n)
Could someone tell a alternative tool to odin?
Help please, i think im losing my s7
Btw, sorry for my bad english.
Don't worry it will be fixed restart using volume down-home-power buttons all together go back in odin mode and try to flash only AP
Yo ur English is fine.
What version is your phone?
What version firmware are you using? Where did you get it ?
What version of Odin?
There are only 2 ways.
Odin or OTA by your provider.
Lol i don't think the change to Oreo is worth this trouble. But since you're going down this rabbit hole, we can at least try to get you working phone in Oreo.

Don't know about samfirm. Sam mobile download is pretty safe and good. Download again in case of corrupt download if you want to reuse your firmware. Ensure that your firmware is for G935F. Boot to download mode. Unzip the zip file and get md5. Put md5 firmware on Odin (latest version) in AP section. Plug phone to computer. Make sure it says "added". Then start process.
Below link will help.

Should work flawlessly. Let me know if this doesn't help. Sorry if it's too simple of an explanation. Would rather have you understand than not.

Hello, everyone. I have a SM-G935F Galaxy s7 Edge. usb gate was broken and i started to change the software with odin. it was installed in half and I pushed the usb cable by mistake and the installation stopped. then a error appears on the screen: an error occurrd while updating the device software. i read a lot in the forums and i watched a lot of videos how to fix it but everywhere they describe and show that the phone needs to be restarted with the combination of buttons. my problem is that when i connect my phone to pc it says error: device is not recognized. I checked how to fix this error too, although I managed to fix the device manager in windows , the smart switch still does not detect the phone and the phone cannot restart with a combination of buttons. this phone is very expensive and i want to fix it at any cost. the phone is already with a new usb port, all you have to do is help me put the software on it. please help me very much.

Through ODIN as i want to get rid of TWRP
Go to sammobile.com/firmwares/archive
Register with your email and seach for your model number and select your country, then download the zip with 5 files: AP, BL, CSC, HOME CSC and CP.
Open odin and put the files in the specific box (in CSC I use Home CSC file).
Boot your device in Download Mode (POWER+VOL DOWN+BIXBY)
Connect to your Pc and press Star
Wait until Odin shows PASS, the device take more time to boot.
I suggest to fully charge the phone before flashing the firmware

Hi, sorry for the late reply.
There seems to be a newer version of the ROM, but everything should work fine.
