Hi. I had installed Jelly2.1 ROM and I noticed that I am missing the Navigation App?
I tried looking for it in Google Play but can't seem to find it.
Where can I download the apk?
Thanks a lot.
I believe it is installed with Google maps. I thought I have installed it directly from play store. When I read the description for Maps it lists turn by turn navigation.
So try the Maps app it should install maps, navigation, and local.

Navigation is a part of Maps. They're a package deal. Do you have Google Maps installed?
I had uninstalled Google Maps and re-installed it and it is back. thanks a lot for the replies.
Hi
I have made a battery thread a while ago and also mentioned a few services you could disable (without any hassle) from Google Play Services to lower the wakelocks from it.
One of those was LocationManagerService. I saw that Google Maps worked fine with GPS while other apps did'nt work if it was disabled.
I then tried to move apps like Endomondo and Snapchat to system and made them system apps and suddenly they could access the GPS too.
So well, if anyone want to disable a few services to lower Google Play Services wakelocks you can make your GPS apps to system apps and use the GPS just fine again.
Google Assistant used to work seamlessly with Google Maps which began voice navigation promptly. Now assistant will take me to Maps but it only shows the route and no way to begin navigation (much less voice). Anyone with this problem? I've tried this on several ROMs with same result.

If I say a location to Google Assistant a box comes up with choices and selecting directions opens Google Maps. Pressing the car icon starts navigation. Are you trying to use Google assistant to start navigate without any physical interaction with phone?
Yes and it always worked before. All I had to do was ask assistant to take me to a destination. It would open maps and voice directions began.

When did it stop working like that?
Not sure exactly. I flash ROMs constantly and hadn't tried this feature in a while. In fact I can't get voice navigation in Maps even if I open that application directly. If I hit the start button after entering a location it just shows the route but nothing else happens. ?
6P, 7.1.1, nmf26f: this happens to me in my vehicle and i turn the bluetooth connection to my car audio (android 5.1.1) off and she begins to tell me what to do again. ymmv.
Hmmm. Don't know about that. I did notice the "while driving" (works with google maps) toggle on ok google detection is grayed out.
Edit--The problem isn't with GA it is with Google maps. I tried all the things I found on the net (turning off bluetooth, turning off play voice over bluetooth in map settings) still no voice navigation.
When you are navigating there should be a little speaker icon under the magnifying glass. Did you try toggling that? It can mute and unmute voice navigation. If you are on a custom ROM you can also try reinstalling GApps.
Thanks. Tried both of those but still doesn't work. Uninstalled maps and reinstalled also. Still no voice navigation.
Hi,
I have a Blaupaunkt Capetown 945. I have downloaded the Google Maps app as a substitute to the Waze app that came preinstalled on it. The problem is that the moment I release the handbrake the Google app closes and I get a message that says it isn't safe to use while driving. I know for a fact that this unit didn't have Waze installed on it when it left the factory and it was installed by my local dealer and yet somehow it works during driving. How do I allow a app to run during driving?
You can install google map itself
Hi,
You can actually install google map in the device. I have installed it in my device. The android version in this device is 4.1.1 , you just need to download the apk for it. The google map work fine. Internet is only required for searchign the location. I have tested it for more than 1000 KM and it seems fine. Sometimes it will crash and you just need to reopen the app. Also you can update the firmware using the blaupunkt from blaupunkt site
Hey guys,
is there a know workaround to get google maps navigation on to the digital dash of Volkswagen cars?
The only things I was able to find, which weren't that much, are from 2019 saying that Waze does work but maps doesn't.
Did anything change or why is it that Waze works but maps doesn't?
Thanks in advance.
