Visual voice mail receives its updates via sms, if the app is installed it will intercept these and you will never see them ...
If you have VVM setup and no longer have the app on the phone due to a custom rom then you will see these messages ...
Easiest thing to do is grab the VVM cab and re-install it ...

thats certainly very interesting. thank you for that however, wouldnt i need to have gotten a voicemail in order for this situation to occur, if we follow your logic?
i have not hasd a voicemail in quite a few days now. iis this a recurring ping via sms or must it be triggered by an actual voicemail?
thanks a lot,
jason

Yes I do believe it is sort of a "Keep Alive" sort of thing and it may also be a trigger to tell the VVM app to check , or for it to send any changes you have made to the settings ...
i set up vvm, still getting this annoying text. surely i am not the only person to ever get this and surely it must be something?
anyone?
jason
i have gotten these too, ever since i switched to custom roms..... but i've learned to just live with it.... still hoping for a solution though
Weird, I got them Until I setup VVM app, then they went away ...
i get the same thing, almost on a daily basis! i've set up vvm but it still sends me these txt... and for some reason i also get previous txts from my gf with the sim icon next to it as well.
I get them every now and then. I have the stock ROM and did not set up VVM. I learned to ignore them. I don't even delete them anymore.
Not sure if this is the right thread, but my notifications seem to have stopped working, Gmail no longer pushes, I'm not getting Twitter or Facebook notifications, last google failed to sync so had to do a manual sync. My internet works fine and the Signal bars are blue. Is there anyway to do a reset on the notifications to get them working again without doing a Factory reset?

I ended up doing a factory reset as uninstalling the app didn't help, notifications are working again, have you checked in the facebook settings that sound notifications are turned on?

Are you guys using the Vonage app on your phones? I've got the exact same issue and came across this post from clockcycle:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106454&highlight=sound
I uninstalled Vonage and my notifications started working again immediately. I'm hoping there's some kind of fix for this though I use the Vonage app a lot and don't want to have to constantly uninstall/reinstall it to make calls.

will this work with 4.3?
it works htc one! this is badass!! thanks m8
It works ok for me but force closes when I send MMS, on a Galaxy Note 3 on 4.3
If anyone has a workaround for the crash please share
They did a lousy job with this new version. There should be a clear distinction between Hangouts and SMS/MMS messaging, and there isn't. They have them all in a gigantic list.
Having a tiny little label for SMS is a terrible way to do this.
Works great on my gs4 tmo

You're right it blows. Time to find a good this party sms app. No quick reply, it's pretty gingerbread-esque.

Hangouts V2 works great on my Note 2 running Pac-man 4.3.1. MMS works no FC's only thing is does it only send SMS to a contact that has hangouts installed too? My understanding was it would send to both sorta like iMessage?
works nice on nexus 4, only wish it had an option to customize colors of incoming and outgoing messages
I agree with many people, the Hangouts / SMS integration is a let down Many of us thought it would be similar to the iMessage integration and that was exciting.. Also, let's hope it's faster on the N5 than on my N4. It takes quite awhile to open.. :silly: Google has a long way to go with this app, but let's just hope it gets better soon Enjoying the new SMS UI anyway haha :highfive:

So wait a minute? The Hangouts/SMS integration isn't the same as the iMessage?
Can the Hangouts handle the SMS over data/wifi?

No, basically it's just a merge of the SMS / Hangouts app. There are 2 separate conversation lists for your SMS and your Hangout messages =\
I don't believe so. Anything over data / WiFi would just be a Hangouts message.
Works fine on Sprint HTC One...however, it doesnt notify me of messages. No sound, no vibrate, no notification icon........which kind of defeats the purpose of the app since it disables the stock messengers notifications.

Wow, big disappointment.
Are the hangouts SMSs get saved to google servers automatically and can be restored?

Hi,
I'm facing a problem. I've setup my phone's DND perfectly but Whatsapp seems to override this config. and any message/call starts ringing...
It's really annoying... anyone has a workaround or a solution to this?
Thanks!
PS: I'm running 7.0 stock rom (non-rooted)

Nope, it's exactly like that but Whatsapp keeps overriding the DND Setup, that's why I'm asking here.

I know how to access DND settings, that's not the probem.
I'm saying whatsapp doesn't care how you configure it, it overrides DND config. and rings anyway.

I know but whatsapp can't ignore it unless you approved it dnd doesn't allow it... so you will have to find where it is allowed to ring
Did anyone ever find a solution for this?
I think this is not device specific cos it happens on my lady's Mi5 and my Zuk Z2 as well.
Whatsapp popups keep popping up even if DND is enabled.
Has anyone found fix for this. It's same issue in my OPO3T ?
I have the same problem: WA was quiet for the last month. Couple of days before it starts to ignore the dnd-mode.
I have the same issue on my Pixel XL. No exceptions to DND except alarms. Whatsapp routinely chimes anyway in the earl early morning.
So far I couldn't find a workaround unless I select the option to just allow alarms (no calls, no sms, absolutely nothing).
It's really frustratung because I just want to silences whatsapp and e-mails and whatsapp with any customized way of DND it overrides it and keeps sounding

Went back to WhatsApp Stable 2.17.323 and the problems are gone.
I'm having the same issue... Note 8 running Nougat 7.0 and latest whatsapp as of February 13, 2018.
Any ideas?
I started a help ticket with Whatsapp. They weren't helpful. They said that they've never heard reports of the problem. They asked me to send them a video replicating the problem. I told them that I'd have to wait up all night awaiting a possible whatsapp text that would break the Do Not Disturb rule. They said without a video, there was nothing that they could do.
For anyone who is still interested in a solution for this, I came up with something, just select Messages "None" over in priority settings menu. It's the only thing I could come up with to fix this
I've done that already in the Do Not Disturb settings. It doesn't help.
I've consistently had this issue for the entire time I've owned my Pixel (1st Gen)
I started having same issue with Pixel XL on Android P. What's app calls ring no matter what. Any ideas?

After upgrading to the latest firmware version the LED notification works much better than previous versions, except for Gmail. Notification from Gmail in general works fine but without LED light. Does anybody have the same issue?

Yes, notification is turned on as well as Allow notification dot. The notification text is working fine. Just the LED light is not. LED light for other apps like calendar, missed calls, SMS are working fine.

That is the stupidest app Google ever invented. An email app where you can't mark messages as read. And if you mark them as "done", they are deleted from Inbox. Not sure how anyone could ever use that app.

I mark things read and done all the time...
I use my email as a reference for work... So I'm not sure... But this sounds like a prime example of user error
I don't understand. I use Gmail app all the time. I can mark an email as unread or read. There is a menu choice for that.
