Hi all, i'm experiencing lags and FPS dropping while recording video (expecially zooming in and out) and with slow motion option (always).
I tried all resolutions, gcamera, stock, camera MX.....still the same.
For videos it's a big problem because after lagging fails to sync video and audio...
Slow motion is always unusable... Full of stuttering/lags.
What can i do? Anybody experiencing this problem?
I don't have SD installed, my model is 4/64 with 10.3.2 MIUI.
Thanks

Hi. I can't reproduce the zooming FPS drop issue on my device - 4/64 MIUI 10.3.3 EU. It wasn't even present before MIUI updates.
Phones often drop frames when shooting video in low light, but it doesn't happen for me on this device, at least not noticeably.
On the other hand, consecutive frame drops in slow motion have always been a huge problem when recording using the stock camera – slo-mos are almost unusable. Fortunately, all versions of GCam record slo-mo video smoothly in my case, with just a rare frame drop in longer videos. It's only a frame here and there so it doesn't hurt the video and is seen on virtually all phones.
Also, I tried slo-mo in Open Camera once and it was fine, unlike in the stock app.
Thanks for reply.
It seems like a RAM or CPU management problem. With Camera (gcam or stock) in "game turbo" app there are less lags or stuttering. I tried "Footej Camera" and seems better, 95% no problems.
I found a video that explains a similar problem (more serious!) with Redmi Note 7 Pro.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeV7uo339-g
My Redmi Note 7 has stuttering only when i zoom in and out fast or i move my phone very quickly while recording. Slow motion isn't my priority but is annoying...

Maybe you've been dealt a bad RAM chip or something. Try running benchmarks and see if you can spot some low or unusual results. We can help you out to compare.
Can you suggest me a tool? Thanks

Maybe Androbench for testing storage speed and Antutu to check if altogether your device produces expected results for the Redmi Note 7.
Btw, how much free storage do you have?

It seems that erasing Camera folder improves the situation (i had few photos but....ok...).
I also tried Footej Camera app and last night i could record flawlessy with it.
So it's a MIUI bug handling camera apps or an issue with read/write Camera folder..

Hi, can anyone do few benchmarks and also point out MIUI version?
1. Please install Geekbench + Androbench, reboot the phone, turn off everything from background (apps and such) and do Androbench first, then Geekbench.
2. Please install PC Mark for Android, turn off everything from behind and post the results.
3. Feel free to add any benchmarks you like, thanks!
Also report about performance in app, smoothness, load times on big apps, and general performance.

I can't tell you exactly because I have installed a few apps and I do not feel like resetting it atm! But I would guess just over 10gb free space.
what I am wondering is if there is any actual difference in performance between this and the prime version and also if this one can be overclocked to match the primes performance if there is any difference.. I would be interested in seeing youtube videos on this phone .. but there is nothing out there yet..

Like 5-10% MAX difference, do not bother about it if you don't need the storage.

Yes,16GB ver. I reset my device and checked storage. After resetting, available storage is 10.72GB. After uninstalling Chinese apps, available storage is 11.4GB.
Could you unintelligible the Chinese apps as any other app or do you need root or any uninstaller app?

What mainstream phones is the Redmi Note 2 Prime comparable to?
I'd like to upgrade from my dead Galaxy Note 2 and am looking for something inexpensive but that's still an upgrade in specs.
I found a nice long review here with more benchmarks and info on the device: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR_la5ngaco
I didn't know about dragon glass, so apparently it is comparable to the old Gorilla Glass 2, which is what I had on my G2, and which is the reason I have the RN2 now so I will make sure I don't drop it again: http://agcem.com/index.php/dragontrail/15-cover-glass
There are also two reviews on Youtube with people doing scratch tests.

Hi,
Somebody to post a screen of Basemark OS II ? Thank you.
Got my S7 edge late Friday night and took it to the beach to test out on Saturday.
I have to say, I'm taking it back if the issue I experienced isn't fixable.
https://youtu.be/6pCRRbB-Zh4
The video in the link was filmed in FHD 60 FPS, and the issue is the 'color banding' or fragmentation visible in the color of the sky throughout the recordings. Instead of being a smooth backdrop, the colors of the sky frequently seem to fragment /group up and become blocky, almost like the video is poorly compressed. Particularly visible from 1:15 onwards.
I watched someone else's video sample online and it didn't seem to suffer the same issue. Ive had a look at the settings and can't seem to see anything that may cause this. Anyone have any ideas or similar issues?
Bump - anyone else?
Let me help https://youtu.be/6pCRRbB-Zh4, now people can actually link to it. [emoji2] also I haven't seen this on mine.

Thanks @h3ck. I think I must have a dud device - this is a screenshot of the issue in 4k, too, taken directly from my phone.
I'm trying to work with Samsung now to work out what is wrong. Looks to be compression related.

I see what you mean, I haven't taken enough video to notice this, but when are you seeing this? After you export, after you upload, on the device itself, etc? Also, I noticed when I went to you video on YouTube it wasn't in 60fps. Not sure if you realized that.

This is actually from the device itself (the lock in the top corner is an s7 function and has appeared in the screenshot) - I think the fact the FHD version wasn't in 60FPS yet was maybe due to being uploaded recently - it's in 60FPS now. I've been testing this afternoon with my Note Edge - definitely better video quality on the old Note
I'm curious how it compares to s6. I had s6 and camera was magnificent. This one is supposed to be better.

I actually read a review that said the camera is better in low light but worse in daylight/where there are bright lights and/or sunlight. For me, it has a really similar effect to the old Ultrapixel cameras on the first couple of HTC Ones, i.e. when there is bright light in a photo, it just 'whites out' for want of a better word - completely loses all definition.
A photo of my living room with a lamp on just shows the lamp as a completely white orb, with no definition (Playing around with ISO and shutter speed don't help much at all.), whereas on my old Note Edge (same cam as the s6 I believe), you can make out the edges of the lamp.

Hi CST - I have the Sony IMX
I think I see what the error is with the video. It looks like when you actually export the video the compression on it changes the quality. I would compare the actual video on the phone itself prior to exporting versus the video when it was exported. I see a significant degradation in video quality from post and pre exportation.
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
So I read that YouTube doesn't even support 60fps on s7 edge yet (for viewing, so that explains why it wasn't an option for me). Secondly, what I previously mentioned holds true about conversion. Idk how people are keeping s7 video at 60 fps because mine seems to convert to plain 1080P when I trim the clip and export.

Update - playlist featuring 3 videos indicating the blockiness and compression artifacts can be found here - others are beginning to notice the same issue
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjb1yvLQUxljakYRkd-RlPr00COjSOCcw
Also, YouTube does allow 60fps - not sure where you read that. and this artifacting is visible on the phone - i have to use youtube to be able to share samples of the problem.
next time, you can upload the original video file to dropbox or pcloud , others can view it online or download it.

Just received and installed the official B126 OTA update (553MB) in the Netherlands.
Nice. Any changes to share with us?
added 6x zoom
Notification when password is needed for public wifi
status bar displays notifications in a clearer way
deleted unnecessary prompts
carrier parameters for better network
November security patches
Ah also in the Netherlands but no ota just yet hope it will arrive before I catch my plane to Spain tomorrow haha
That's great news! Thank you for sharing! :highfive:
It seems they tweaked the camera a bit, a bit sharper but more importantly better white balance

And the good news is:
Camera is significantly improved. The blurriness, washed out pics are gone and the result is now very much on par with the excellent LG G4 camera
In car BT streaming is fully working, even all tags are coming through
Notification area is improved, notifications are no longer numbers only, you can now choose icons
The whole phone feels snappier, like developer logging is switched off
This is for sure a major step forward, creating an even better phone. Samsung, are you watching?

Would be great if they improved the EIS for videos and maybe added something like auto HDR+; essentially taking some cues from the Pixel. They need to use the gyroscope like Google does.
Would also like to see an sRGB display profile for accurate colors.
General tweaks to display latency and audio output especially the headphone jack (according to reviews) would also be nice.
Of course if they would release some kernel sources and device trees etc for developers that would be amazing too but that would probably be wishful thinking
But I am glad to see that they tweaked the camera. It definitely needed it. However they still have some work to do.

True but it does seem to take some good shots though.
But they definitely need to take a look at the EIS. It's done quite poorly from what I can tell especially in video.

Strange, my G6 scored 144325 points with the same benchmarking app.
Your test seems to lack in 3D performances.
I did not stop any app before I run the bench.
1. don't give a **** about benchmarks
2. use the onboard Smart Doctor before Benchmark
3. Stop all your social waste apps like Facebook or better deinstall it, takes a lot of performance
4. LG G6 Display got a much higher resolution, this needs more performance
5. Oneplus is cheating on Benchmarks
So, don't give a f u c k about those things
Update : i did another test with "force gpu rendering" option on and with game battery saver off. My score increased but i saw on youtube that other variant of G6 can reach up to 160k

also, changing to the latest available antutu (outside of google play store) changed my score too, 140k+ is on par with snapdragon 821 devices and you shouldn't fret about the small differences. Try Geekbench

Pretty much what it says, boosts your games. Especially newer and more graphic & CPU intensive and or demanding games. Also ramps down CPU and GPU to save battery when games do not require hefty specs & hardware.
I have one question for the group leader though, was it ripped or downloaded from exynos or snapdragon model? If it's from exynos chip phone how well does it run on Samsungs Note 9 snapdragon, has anyone tried this if so or am I going to be the scapegoat here and risking my baby?
