Dual Sim and SD - OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi everybody,
Been a lurker for years on XDA and figured it could be helpfull to share this with you. Been searching the web to get this answer but couldn't find it so I decided to just order the Reno 10x and test it myself.
It is possible to use two sims and a SD card at the same time using this lifehack: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/help/sims-sd-card-simultaneously-t3404547/page3 I'm now enjoying 2 sims and added 256 GB of storage. (the main reason the 7 Pro isn't an option for me is because the internal storage is maxed at 256 GB which isn't enough for my needs)
While I'm at it, I'll share my experience so far with the Reno 10x EU version. Been enjoying the Reno for a couple of days now and like it a lot. Strange enough in a market that's flooded with phones, it's allways quite the challenge to find a phone that answers to all my wishes and the Reno came close and it doesn't dissapoint. I love the design. No bloatware, woot! The camera isn't as good as the P30 pro overall, but the main shooter and portret pics are very, very close quality wise and perhaps just as good. Too bad video can't be shot through all the lenses and night mode is descent but not nearly as good as the one on the P30 Pro. The main shooter works pretty well in Low light settings though, without night mode activated. I hope Oppo will further develope it's camera software, but buying an Oppo means risking lack of developement I guess, so.. fingers crossed. Still, out of the box the phone and the camera are very good. Since the Huawei ban I had to let the P30 pro go as an option and the Reno seems to jump in that gap and does it well. Sinces I'm not a fan of notches I'm fine with it. The Reno looks a lot better imho and the camera is still really good.
ColorOS isn't that bad as I expected. But than again, some of you scared the s#!t out of me. I had no trouble installing Nova Launcher and setting priority to certain apps. It runs very smooth, has great battery life, the screen is excellent and the under display fingerprint reader as well as face unlock are lightning fast.
What I don't like: the speakers dissapoint and since the speaker for calls is in the edge of the phone making a private phonecall is nearly impossible. The buttons are a bit wobbly and I also miss my headphone jack, but at least it gave me an excuse tot order the Sonata HD.
Anyway, as a lurker I just want to thank all you active members for al the usefull info, tips and tricks I found over here all these years. Thnx!

Where did you buy the EU version of the Reno 10X? It came with global rom I guess, does it have any chinese character at all in the UI? Does it have Hungarian language?
Thanks for your answer!

Hi, I bought it in the Netherlands. It's widely available here. Really love the phone. It has a global ROM installed, no bloatware, good integration of Google. I had no trouble installing my nova launcher and customize the main screen. There are no Chinese characters. It has a decent translation but it's not flawless. Hungarian language is available.
ColorOS isn't that bad actually. Some of the menus could be a bit more logical, but far as I can tell everything is there. Not everything is customizable though.
Combining the stock camera app with Gcam gives you great pictures. And video is also pretty good. I'm not having the problems reported in some reviews. My experience is comparable with the gsmarena review. It's just a great phone. Yes the OS could be better and I still hope Oppo will fine tune the camera software, but it's already great.

Do you know know any Dutch website which sells the exact modell you're using? Or it is like I have to go in personally like in a gsm shop and buy it?
I usually do not lurking around in Netherland, would be great but unfortunatelly I do not. Your answer was a big help making my decision just I do not want to run across with a Chinese ROM... and all the websites are offering Chinese version of the phone..

The dutch webshops that are selling the device don't ship internationally I'm affraid. Maybe your best chance is Amazon.de. The global version is the CPH1919. If you check if they ship that specific model, you should be fine. Good luck!

You can find it easily in Italy, online as well

Could you please post a link with the online shop's name?

I bought the UK model as well close has it available right now amazing device good luck
---------- Post added at 01:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:30 AM ----------
I bought the UK model as well you can purchase it from clove website there fast shipping is there a reliable selling this is probably the best advice I've had in over a year and I've had all of them it's absolutely amazing I even like the screen on it better than my wife's OnePlus 7 pro

Can anyone share pictures of both sides of the SIM tray please?
I have a EE UK supplied Reno 5G and it appears to be only single SIM. Now, I had this with a Mate 9 and the handset was dual SIM - it was just the SIM tray had been replaced to make it look like single SIM, presumably so you didn't put in another operators second SIM card.
Looking in the SIM slot on the Reno it appears there are contacts there for a second SIM so if someone can share a picture of their SIM tray I'd like to stick my second SIM in position and see if it works!!!
Thanks in advance

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Review + Benchmarks, Unboxing & Camera samples (Video)

Mod edit: Link removedXiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Review Video on YouTube.
Just recently got my hands on the Redmi Note 3 Pro. I reviewed the Redmi Note 3 with 3GB of RAM. A great phone but it lacks a MicroSD card slot, so it had a rather major flaw. Now the Redmi Note 3 Pro is out to fix this with MicroSD support in the dual SIM slot (Either micro sim + MicroSD or 2 x micro sims). And it now has a new camera sensor ( s5l3p3 Samsung ISOCELL 16MP) and a new chipset the Snapdragon 650. Overall this is an impressive phone for the price. Metal build, great screen. Very fast (78k in AnTuTu 6) The internal storage is also very quick for a phone at 150mb/s read and 50 mb/s writes. Can't really fault it only that the camera is very poor at low light still. And it has no NFC support.

Pros:
Great build with a metal body
The Snapdragon 650 sets new standards in power for the price
1500+ Single core score in Geekbench 3
78,000 Antutu 6.0.4 score
Great battery life 8 hours+ screen on time
Fast LTE support 300mbps
Sharp and bright screen. Ver decent 1080p panel
Great price Vs performance ratio
4k video with Google camera
FM Radio
Great sound quality
Cons:
No NFC support
Only quick charge 2 and not version 3 the chipset supports
Camera is very poor in low light
Very poor video in low light (Useless)
No 4k video support in the stock camera app (Need to use Google camera for 4k)
MIUI 7.1 has Chinese in and around it (No global MIUI 7 ROM yet)
No root yet, locked bootloader too?
Final thoughts.
I'm impressed, an amazing phone considering the price. It can beat some flagship models in everything apart from the camera. I cover all this in the full video review.

Hi Chris ! Seems you're the first one who got hand on this - very nice - phone !
About the camera, can you test with "Manual Camera Compatibility" app to show if they let some manual settings avaible ? ( could solve the low light issue with the appropriate camera app : freedcam or fv-5 if manual shutter is avaible)

Photos come out the same in these conditions, out of focus and blurred. The camera lags in low light really bad, the mobiles only true weakness.
I just ordered mine, looks like it'll be nearly a month before it gets here! After nearly a year away from Android and custom ROMs I have plenty of reading to do

Where did you order yours from?
i ordered mine from GearBest yesterday.
Says it will be shipped on the 19th, but then customs will probably hold onto it for a while
I got mine from Aliexpress, hopefully it will get some custom roms or root soon so I can remove a few Chinese apps. Or a global rom asap.

Thanks for the great review of the Pro - I wasn't aware the pro was available to buy yet - your very quick off the mark - amazing stuff.
So just placed an order for one on Aliexpress with Fantacy Technology but now worried about the software.
Do I just message them and tell them I want an unopened box i.e. phone straight from the factory with MIUI 7.1 English and Traditional/Simplified Chinese language only?
See I don't want any tampering with the software before I receive it. Want it just as dispatched by Xiaomi.
Thanks for any advice
Hi,
Yes that's what I did. I asked them to just send me a factory sealed RN3P without opening it. Otherwise they open it up and install Google Play. And they did that for me which was great, just send it exactly as they received it from Xiaomi. Reason I got it so fast is I was talking to the seller on Aliexpress just after the Chinese launch and got him to get it especially for me before it ran out of stock. First release in China sold out in a day or something, but he was able to get a few units. But only in white. Of course I had to pay extra for this
Any info about locked bootloader or succesfull root method? Custom ROM would be great for this...

It's currently just out and sellers are overcharging for it. But it should be around $180 for the 2GB model and just over $210 for the 3GB version. Prices will come down. At the moment it's around $230.

Hmm.. 210 USD is arround 2.800.000 rupiahs, and its very cheap phone with monster spec.
my future phone I hope global rom releases soon I am thinking after Mi5 comes out
twrp and root is a must
Hendrickson can u please check how long does it take to charge from 0 to 100 with the standard adapter & cable that came with the phone thanks....
Here's my review - hope it helps.
Ok so I have had my RN3 Pro for a whopping 7 days now so here's a few things to take away which may help you.
I ordered from Vickmall, the golden 32GB/3GB version I think with conversion was about $380 AUD so not too bad.
- I (stupidly?) took the free postage offer, which I guess from years of ordering cycling gear from the UK where free postage is the norm, and delivery is within 7 days, seemed to be no major issue.
- In hindsight, 2.5 weeks to my door wasn't too shabby, but their poor tracking system means the parcel is often in a completely different country by the time the tracking information is updated (mine is still showing last updated from the 9th of Feb)
On to the phone :
- Well he(she) arrived in a standard China post box which contained the bubble wrapped Mi box, a silicone case (basic, but does the job) tempered glass screen protector and some wipes to clean the screen. External packaging looked worse for wear, but not issues with the internal box (Kudos to Vickmall for the bubble wrap!)
- Mi box was opened I assumed so they could fire up the phone and do a QC check maybe. All films etc were still on the phone.
- Vickmall included a pretty average looking China-AU adapter which actually does the job for now, but I wouldn't want to leave this thing on unattended.
- Despite my repeatedly asking, Vickmall DID NOT install Google Play or Google Apps, but that's literally a 10 minute job to set it up (I honestly believe the people manning the online chat don't relay any customer requests to those who ship the item)
The phone itself is actually a very high quality, feels well balanced, lighter than my Moto X Style and slightly narrower too, and at least 1mm thinner. It's more similar in size to an iPhone 6 and no dramas with it being too big for the average user.
- Bezels are small and the chins aren't overly large or look out of proportion.
- The included silicone case is cheap but it does the job, for now.
- Phone takes a combo of micro sim and SD card (at once) or nano sim on it's own (as it goes in the SD card slot)
- Phone booted up quickly enough, and once I connected to the wifi it ran some OTA updates to the MIUI OS which took about 10-15 mins.
- I installed Google Playstore and Google Apps easily enough and then installed Nova to replace MIUI. MIUI actually isn't that bad, but I prefer the Nova feel myself.
So in reality it probably took no more than ½ hour to set the phone up. It came about 50% charged so I had adequate time to play around with it and move photos, music etc over to it and get it feeling like my Moto X.
So what do I like -
Battery life is great. It was at 100% at midnight, it's 9.15 now and still on 85% with some Facebook, IG etc.
Camera is actually pretty good, with great filters, modes etc.
Sound is plenty loud and clear even considering the rear mounted speaker.
Display is super sharp (IMHO 1080p is more than adequate for 5.5" screen)
Screen sensitivity is awesome. No missed touches etc.
FM radio. I actually missed this on my Moto X Style.
Snappy and accurate finger print scanner.
Expandable memory, thank God!!
Big battery (take note Motorola / Lenovo)
What am I not so keen on -
Nothing really. Being a Chinese phone means that most of the deep rooted files, ie ring tones and themes are in Chinese, however I downloaded one of the many aftermarket apps and got my own ringtones, alarm tones, message tones etc.
There are Chinese ones pre-loaded, but being in Chinese I couldn't actually understand what I was looking at.
Nothing seems to indicate quick charging from the standard included charger (is this normal?)
For mine, for the cost, there's not a great deal out there that's any better. A full 1080p screen, huge battery, metal construction, 3GB with expandable memory and a pretty good camera all for just over $350 is a bargain.
Even tho the phone is a meant for the Chinese market, so it's essentially a Chinese model, don't be put off. Literally ½ hour of time, plus Youtube and Whirlpool forums, and you will find it's actually pretty basic to get it up and humming!
4/5 rating for me!
We need separate subforum for RN3 Pro

Zuk Z2 PRO really Worth it?

Hi, i was at only a "click" to buy this phone, ( I dont like 5.5 huge smartphones.) so this was a perfect fit for me... But then i did a bit of research and i found that the camera is not good, there are very few ROM support, no one bug free, no LinageOS support, the Zui are "not for everyone" and there is only english and chinese official versions, lack of perfect fit screen protection... and then in the forum "ZukFans" i saw some members selling their Zuk Z2 Pro after a week of use...
With all of this drawback the phone still worth it? I dont have money to buy another phone if this doesnt fit me. I dont like 5.5 huge smartphones. This have the 4G band that i use, powerful SOC, 6GB Ram, the perfect screen size, and "in paper a good camera".
Please be honest about this, I do not believe in the reviews, only in what the community thinks. Thanks!
The biggest things wrong with the phone are that there is no expandable notifications or quick replay and no lock screen widgets (music play buttons etc). The buttons on the notification bar work, but you can't see the name or the thumbnail (at least with spotify and google play). The camera has gotten improvement, including full manual controls in the nougat update. I don't think it's terrible. It works ok. If camera is a focus for you maybe find something else. The flash is a bit warm and not very bright from what I found.
Some people are having probs with notifications too, but personally I haven't had an issue. You need to mess with safe center to make sure that it keeps the apps in memory, and allow notifications. If you don't it'll auto close the app to conserve battery.
There is someone working on an unofficial Linage ROM, but we'll see what comes of it.
Beside camera it is a beast.i would rather prefer my old mi5 camera.it was just best.even better than samsung and iphone.price you it is really woth it.especially 6gb ram and 128 storage is a big advantage.as i said only thing bothers me is a quality of camera.thats all

I very much liked the camera, it works very well. Nearly all photos I took came out nicely. I can compare the cam to a few phones, including iPhone, and I think it does a good enough job.
As to ROM support - there is not much of it. Stock was fine with me, no issues, but some privacy concerns. We are talking about China here...
In the long run, I am not sure about ROM support from ZUK. If they stop updating it, this phone is basically dead.
If you want no larger phone, how about a Huawei P9 or even Nova?
I sold my Z2 Pro and kept my Sony Xperia X which really has a poor cam but very good software support on their Concept path. I'm on 7.1.1 with security patch from Jan 2017...
well, seems not a good choice after all to buy this phone, so dissapointed. And seems that will be forgotten so fast... that scares me. I cant understand why is happening this to a smartphone with brilliant specs... Thanks very much for your replies!

Thanks for the suggestions, but i like phones with physical home button (i hate the on screen back-home-menu buttons), the other thing i dont like are the black borders like the LeEco Phones.
Would like to use this thread, not create new one.
Could You tell mi if it's still worth considering? Right now?
I'm looking for new device. First choice is/was LG V20. Thought that after V30 will be out, the proce will drop and I will get it, but unfortunately 2nd display is not working on custom Roms, I cannot stand stocks, so it makes it nothing special...
Than I remembered Z2 and now Im thinking about it. It's pretty cheap for it's insides. Have custom rom support, which doesn't make important features unusable. As for camera I have Moto X Play and Xperia Z2 (coincidence? Don't think so!), which are really nice, so I can survive how it works on nonstock roms.
Only think I hate is that I seem not find any black version of Zuk (GSMArena states that there is one), but I think I survive white device
Could You tell me if everything works fine? How fast GPS gets fix? Does BT drops a lot? Anyone uses BT headphones? Hows the sound (I have AWEI A920BL and maybe they are not the best, but for bicycle they are awesome)?
I mean on custom Roms, like AEX.
Is it hard to mod? I have modded many devices, even Lenovo ones, but never had Lenovo with Snapdragon
Is there any chance for brick when unlocking bootloader (does it have to be done?), rooting, flashing TWRP?
How many versions of Z2 Pro are there? One I'm considering is Z2121. Does it makes modding more difficult or something?
Well I will try to answer a few of your questions:
Is phone worth buying? Yes, but of course only if you cannot find comparable device with better price and better community support. SD820 will perform great for a long time.
Black version was hopelessly sold-out long ago but white version is also nice.
GPS on stock was lightning fast, usually fixed in around 5 secs. On AEX in 20-30 secs, but I have used it only once since flashing so maybe next time will be better.
Bluetooth - no problem with car radio connection, works like a charm both on stock and AEX.
There is always chance for bricking, but follow instructions and you are safe. There are no brutal 100 step howtos with huge red warning like "One mistake and kiss your device goodbye".
That's what I need to hear. With GPS it may be place where You were trying to get fix. Have and had a lot of devices and mostly 3-5 secs was needed.
As for comparable device I don't see any. 820 is still great, 6 GB RAM will be enough for next few years. 128 GB is even to much for me (still would love to have SD slot, but with this space I can survive without one).
As for bricking I was afraid coz there were some devices I modded which could be very easily bricked. Never happen, but considering how easy is to mod Xperia or Moto... let's say I would prefer for every phone be that easy
What about this Z2121? Is it something special version? Chinese or ROW one? Or all Z2 Pro are Z2121 and I'm just looking for something were nothing is too look for?

Z2121 is the real name of this phone^^ like SM-XXXX for Samsung phones.
For me GPS is 5-7 second to fix on AEX 4.6
Just one thing on AEX we have to mod the build.prop and change ro.product.model=Z2 Pro to ro.product.model=Z2122 because it's the name on stock ROM and without this we don't have 60 fps on YouTube and all Play Store apps.

And for the price, specs and developers community are amazing ! S820, UFS 2.0 memory, 6GB LDDR4 RAM, Super AMOLED screen, f/1.8 13 Mpxl camera, glass/metal body and PHYSICAL HOME BUTTON !
Thanks. So now I have to convince myself to spend 200€
Physical Home sounds good, but I prefer phones with bigger screen and OSB, so I can turn them off, install LMT and use PIE
Just wanted to say thet ordered ZUK today. So month-two and there will be new device for me to play with

I like it but I don't love it, especially because videos are horrible in 4k and stabilization is very bad
Tempted by this phone. Currently have a OnePlus 5t, but love Xiaomi phones and MIUI. Not sure whether to jump on this or hold out for a Mi 8 SE.

I also used to own a 5T and just sold it for a Xiaomi mi mix 2s.
As someone who LOVES stock android, Oxygen OS will always be my favorite mobile OS. After owning 3 different OnePlus Devices, it was hard to go for a Xiaomi....
But the Mi mix 2s has been an AWESOME device so far. Battery life is on par with my 5t. The screen is incredible , the no bezel design is beautiful and I think it is best done on the Mi mix 2s. ( I hate notches). Although it is not amoled, the screen is very good and it works great. MIUI is not as snappy as Oxygen OS, but its still light years ahead of touchwiz and Crapsung experience.
I personally really like wireless charging, and its nice to have it on the Mi Mix 2s. The phone design is my all time favorite. I love the weight of the ceramic and It is hands down the best looking device I have ever seen. However not having a headphone jack is absolute ****.....Dont get me started on that.
The back 2 cameras are stellar and its the main reason I went with the Mi Mix 2s.... As someone who rarely uses the front camera, the quality is really good for a 5mp shooter, but if you are someone who uses it a lot, this phone might not be for you....
Overall, if you can find it for $500usd or less, I think this is the best phone for the price on the market. :good:
I just wondered about something that i saw in xiaomi's forum,i wrote a poat and i was rly angry of this bug collection that i bought(mix2s) and 1 answer just came and said we didnt launch mi mix2s in india and we cant help you????

If only the bezzel (with the front camera) would be on top, it would be a great phone.
I usually give goog things for granted so focusing on the bad:
bottom selfie camera
shiny-way-too-slippery ceramic back (would love a mate version)
no widevine L1 support
no microSD
no 3.5 jack
About the last two dont care so much since i have bluetooth earphones and got an OTG flashdrive (couldnt get the 128 GB version cause out of stock).
ceramic and widevine are not so bad but the selfie camera just kills it. Is such a hazzle to use. if you use it as is you get a massive neck/chin resulting in an awful perspective, and if you rotate the phone say bye to fingerprint shutter and forget whatsapp video call.
Just as someone said before, like it, yeah, love it, NOPE

Yep, I needed to to that several times before to be connected before discovered that this was broken in early 2019 ROMs.
Phone with regular OTA updates and stable official ROM is just unusable, that forced me to unlock and flash. It's shame to brake main functionality of device :/ You can't expect from users to force them to flash phone. You should not force them to use old ROM to make or receive call.
I replaced my old phone to get decent camera, speed and B20 connectivity, but was sure to still have basic gsm, bt and wifi fuctionalities. Yep, cam was not broken
For $300 brand new I have no complaints. Was looking for a notch less phone with a decent camera and good battery life, this phone hits the spot. I rarely take selfie so I don't mind with its front camera. Oh and it has snapdragon 845 chip.
help me anyone mix 2s user
my phone is brick with lockbootloader i tried to flash via miflash (point test) but unlucky have no authorized account someone please help to fix my mix 2s >.<:crying::crying:
I'm very happy with this phone. I bought it new two months ago at a very good price (128gb version), and I'm using it with Nova Launcher and all the Google apps I can manage to install on it instead of the Xiaomi ones (I don't like them). I have no complains so far: no lag, good amount of RAM to keep my apps working in the background, nice screen (right now I still prefer a good IPS versus any Amoled), nice cameras.
And for the odd placement of the selfie camera, I just have installed a little app called 'Rotation' and with a touch in a widget, it forces full rotation so I can turn the phone it to put the camera in the upper, and all will rotate accordingly (android himself, and all the apps). If anything, the selfie camera himself could be better (more angle and better resolution, like the Mi 8 one).
I purchase Mi9se, I use for 2 months and I return it to amazon, because the screen lag...
I write fast and every time the phone just do nothing...
I remember the POCO, I use like a week and I return it....
With mi9se almost have the same issue... Is not software is the screen...
So, I buy this Mix 2s, the only think I don't like is the weight but I understand it...
The poco was 180g, the Mi9se 155g and my old Mi5 127g , Mix2s 190g is heavy but with the weight the you will have to take care more your phone every time...
I don't like Notch, I prefer water drop or nothing..
I like a phone the size of your hand not more.... Like the new phones, are very BIG..
Is like to have to DICKS °lol sorry
Its been 3 days with my Mix2s and I feel fine
I obviously liked it better Mi9se(6gb/64gb) $ 350USD less weight and better cameras, AMOLED...
But I don't care, for the price I pay is fine... 6gb/128gb - $ 312 USD mexico

Could you please send the link?

Is it worth to buy a ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1) in 2019?

Main question in topic title… (new or used devices)
How to unlock the bootloader? What's the best maintained and stable ROM out there?
Or should I avoid it?
The device is now currently selling for ₹9000 (presuming you are in India). If you spend a little more the current gen Redmi and Realme devices offer much better specs.
If you still want this phone I would recommend ResRemix, DOT OS, Havoc OS or Pixel Experience.
Nope no never even not in your nightmare..if you want it to became more than worst nightmare
Depends on how much price you're getting, In some websites it goes under 7k with Bank offers and all that, It's a nice device for that price range. If you're going above 8.5k, then look aside, there are better devices in that segment of 10k or under. Hope that helps
Do not buy any Asus phone in 2019 because they do not have LTE band 41 (Sprint / Vodafone In) and even though the SD636 660 and 865 support LTE A, CA does not work. There are software glitches in M1, fewer on 340.
Yes, with discounts and offers it goes around 7k or so right? can anyone suggest better phone in this range? with 5kmah batt full hd screen 3/4gb ram, sd 636 or better
If you NEED big battery AND you live in a well signal area = yes, otherwise, the phone simply sucks.
If you choose this phone, use Havoc, Dot OS for M1 is slow af, and buggy (Titanium backup doesn't work after a while, lots of gcam also force stop), also not so good battery life, just tried it yesterday. Oh, and it's a clean flash, not dirty.

If you are not particular about custom rom and development, skip this phone. Otherwise it is a good buy.

you're SERIOUSLY recommending a phone thats almost DOUBLE the price?
are your eyes and brain working normally?
hey OP, ignore everything in this thread, go for a gold plated iPhone with diamond touchscreen.
because screw budgets, right?
I would say it depends upon your needs.
I am a person who prefers small to medium sized phones, but wanted a slightly bigger device for reading and media consumption that could still be operated via single hand. Max Pro M1 fit the bill pretty well.
Its got a nice screen, reasonable specs, lightweight stock UI, nice build quality and is affordable.
I found is the camera to be lacklustre, which can somewhat be improved via Google Camera app.
YMMV.
I got 4gb max pro m1 for 7.6k
And running miui10 benchmark 124000
Is it good buy or what?

For 7.6k its definitely good buy, redmi note 6 pro with same SoC is 11-12k.
I bought the 3/32GB variant for Rs 6,066 after all the Bank Discounts and an exchange. So far, it's proving to be a good purchase. I'm really impressed with the battery life on it. The UI is smooth being stock Android. I've added a 64GB Micro SD card. It works than my brother's Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Front Camera is where it lacks but apart from that it's great.
Bought this phone in February this year for my mother, the price itself in Indonesia is quite a good deal if we consider its mid-class spec.
But... turns out it is a big disappointment. My mom only uses this phone for about 2 months and after that, she doesn't want to use it anymore, even she beg me to have her old Redmi Note 4 back instead of continuing using it (too bad, I already sold her old RN4). She said, this phone is too minimalist, the camera is very bad, no convenient features and the stock UI is simply boring.
So, she handed it back to me and I bought her the Galaxy M20 for a replacement and she is very happy with it. Now, this phone becomes my test phone to play with several custom ROM from our talented dev here in XDA community. Currently, I am using Pixel Experience Plus Edition with Darkonah Kernel. Sometimes, I also use this phone for a hotspot device when I have to travel overseas (i just have to put the local 4G sim card in it), so I can connect my primary phone and laptop while I'm roaming in the city.
However, if you consider buying this phone in 2019, my advice is, just DON'T... Except, you can get it with a very cheap price and forget the stock ROM, it is just BAD.
Did you try flashing the MIUI10 ROM, which makes it exactly like a Xiaomi phone? I come from Mi Max 2, got this phone for 3 main reasons
1)5000mah battery
2)2 sim and sd card
3) multi colored led notification light
I am quite happy with it. However the new Mi9T/k20 pro has AMOLED screen which are quite nice for decent price. Smaller battery and no rgb notification though.

Iam planning to tell my friend to buy one from his trip to India. There is nothing even half good i can buy for that price ( around 80 Pound) here in the UK . Dear Indian friends do you have any other phones to suggest for that budget ?
@rkoforever90 Hi,
Only lack luster thing in this phone is- its camera performance. Ignore the trolls here, they might be just some teens, accustomed to Chinese vendors.
Slow battery charge is intentionaly done by Asus to keep its massive battery healthy.
Very few devices comes with sd636 in your budget.
I'll recommend moto one device if you want to compensate for camera and performance.
Skip realme, oppo, Mi etc. (You know why )
Htc u12+ and Nokias in budget but lacks battery power. Also upcoming month is festive month in India so may be some good device launch will follow.
Overall for an elderly I think its good device with good resolution and screen quality. With no lags. Stock rom is not as bad as this forum made it look like.

I love my RN7,now falling in love in my RN8 pro..
It's amazing..and yes.. you can love your phone ?
Love speed, camera, battery. For me personally it's far better then my former phone (Mi Mix 2s)
Little cons:
- notification LED is far too small
- backside is too slippery (I won't use it without a case)
Display.. this is the perfect size and I love this phone..
Battery.. ?
I have ordered the phone 6/128 variant, will get tomorrow or day after. I'm excited but worrisome about the camera result at the same time. Let's see
Mine should also arrive tomorrow. I went with 6/64 variant, but that's good enough for me. Will report after a couple of days of use.
This is a really good phone at a really good price.
I just love the battery charging speed in this price segment.
I got my phone today and reading mode is turned off still at night, my display seems yellowish.
Check the screenshot.
This phone is everything I expected and more. The only few cons are overshadowed by it's price. Guess everyone was wrong about G90T. No oveeheating, smooth peeformance all the way. Also... more than decent primary shooter, great battery life,... Glad I went for this over P20 Lite. And cheaper too. Now only thing left is the wait until MIUI 11.
my good old Samsung Note 4 broke down, now I also have a Redmi Note 8 Pro, I love the phone too xD
Phone is awesome
Note 8 Pro Love
Had my phone a couple of days - upgraded from redmi note 7. So far loving it, seems really quick and glad to now have NFC. Face unlock is very quick and the main camera seems to be good - more testing needed though. Only annoying thing is lack of HD playback on Netflix.
Ian
I like this phone. Good quality, very fast, and battery life is amazing. My biggest downfall is lacking immediate bootloader unlock and lack of ROMs. I am hoping this phone will become more free and capable of customization.
The phone is really good and fast, apart from few problems, everything else is love. Camera is having some real issues and those for sure are due to software. Hardware for the main camera is the same as Realme XT then why improved video quality for XT? Xiaomi needs to improve the camera software so that you can rate this phone 10/10.

I have 4G+ with my provider. Telenor
By far the best 230$ I've ever spent on a device. Just updated to miui 11 they def made some great improvements. My gf has a big gig note 9 she's like I want a RN8 pro her daughter has a S8 plus she's ordering one today. The camera and fluidness with this phone is amazing. Say what you want but this mediatek soc gets things done. There's rumors of a SD 730g series RN 8 pro but it's not going to happen it's a rumor so people are waiting for that variant to come out. Lol enjoy your wait.
Hello! Do you have information when the pixel experience firmware comes out on Redmi Note 8 Pro?
Bought it online China set China rom with installed Google 8/126, tried to find indian version due to dedicated sd card but not available. Previously owns mi max prime with global rom and it was easy to play with because google is available.
With RN8P china set/rom i had to explore deeply especially when using the browser which automatically give us several option either using baidu or sm (dun know what is this). Even cant use in app purchase at first which makes me feel little disappointed and ready to unlock and install global rom  and already download the software to start the operation
Luckily, after exploring in the phone i can change the browser in english permanently (unless i reset it) and also watched in youtube how to enable in app purchase if using china rom.
Now i feel happy because the replacement of my loyal mi max prime is up to my standard
Camera: Excellent with lot of option (i'm not expert but it looks great) dont need gcam...for now
Speed/Charging: Fast response
Network: Sometime I've got 4+ even though my line is supporting up to 4g only
Memory: Great, 126gb is my minimum standard requirement, can expand it using sd card
Keyboard: I'm using xperia
Gaming: Not a fan for heavy games for android. Got only Clash of Clans and Candy Crush...yeah just 2:laugh: but kind noticed the changing in temperature at back body.
Sound: Loud and clear, need to memorized that the ear speaker hole is just at the top edge
Processor: MTK? SD? nah....i'm not an expert
Satisfaction: Human never satisfied..just call it enough to sustain at least 2 years from now
