Is it possible to install (or move) applications to a portable SSD drive without root or root is necessary? I was looking at Google, but the tips I found either do not work or are related to external microSD cards. I have a LG G6 H870 with Android 8.0

I have a Galaxy S5 on Sprint's network which is currently not rooted and completely stock. Problem is the storage on the phone is only 16GB which can be quite limiting at times. I know I can move some applications to the SD card however even when moving the applications it leaves a chunk of the program on the internal storage plus any app upgrade gets installed on the internal flash not the SD card.
What I'm hoping to do is
1) keep the stock software (possibly remove some of the bloatware)
2) use the microSD card for all applications instead of the internal flash (I have a class 10 64GB MicroSD card)
3) retain use of google pay (I think this can be done with root blockers/hiders?)
So is the above possible? How would I go about doing the above?
If I do root the phone I believe the phone will then indicate that its been tampered with (Knox?) can this indicator later be reversed? reinstalling the original Samsung software, or is this a permanent side effect of rooting?
Thanks,

Configuration:
Nexus Player Bios up to date.
Ethernet
1 PNY 16GB flash drive used as internal storage, working fine.
1 Kingston(?) 8GB flash drive set as removable storage, used for testing. I am able to add and remove files from it without problems.
1 111GB USB HDD I can only read from but not write to.
Issues:
I am overly confused about write permissions with Android. I have tried following the threads about how only the app that created the folder can write to it.
The 8 GB has never been used in Android before just like the 111GB. So why can the 8GB be written to but the the 111GB can't?
Goal: To use the 111GB to store media while still being able to add and remove files as needed.
*Note, I am not ready to root.
Hi all,
I'm new here and I've read a lot of posts regards new android MM, but whitout a answer.
I've got now a new galaxy j5 2016 that become with MM preinstalled.
Until yesterday I used Lollipop on other smartphone.
Now the problem is :
It's possible to use micro SD card as internal storage without encryption into my new galaxy J5 2016 as I did with my old smartphone with lollipop?
I know how to root the device and I know that I can use sd card as internal storage, but I don't want to encrypt, because in case of breaking the smartphone, I will lost my photo and documents.(backup is never up to date!).
Thanks for answers..
Best regards
Not sure if you already found the answer to your question but it is generally not possible to mount the SD card as internal storage without encrypting the sd card, let me know if you found any other workaround for this issue.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM -T550, 8 inch, 16 GB storage, Android Marshmallow.
Any way I can install programs to a sd card instead ?
Thank you.
I have found a partial solution.
I cannot directly install apps to my sd card, but I can move the installed apps to my sd card.
The method to move/transfer installed apps to sd card is from this link :

In these boards there is a patch to enable adoptable storage for Marshmallow, on the other hand if you are rooted and you partition your SD card to have two primary partitions (fat&ext2/4) than you can use an app similar to Apps2sd for those needs as well, which I do on my tablet, that is not Marshmallow, otherwise I would use the adoptable storage patch. Just look around in the boards.
Edit; here's the link for the adoptable storage patch

The adaptable storage method works on rooted, stock Nougat as well. Just got my tablet with 7.0 already on it and was able to get it done.
Hello, how are you?
I have in my mobile j5 8gb of storage itnerno, which most is occupied by the s.o, I wanted to know if I can convert my SD external memory into internal,
I do not have the cell phone rooted but if necessary, I will rooteo without problem
Thank you
you can do adoptable storage by installing root essentials on playstore(needs root, assuming you already know how to root your phone) and make sure you backup the files from the sd since it will be formatted as internal. also the rw performance will vary from your sdcard type(recommended class 10 uhs-i or at least have 70mb/s read and 30mb/s write speeds)
or you can use xinternalsd and obb to sd(xposed modules, requires xposed framework) if you want full access to your sdcard without dealing with performance degradation and formatting stuff
