Hello XDA,
I'll keep it short and to the point. Before buying the Axon 7 (from Amazon Italy, so probably A2017G), I have a couple of questions. I know they've been answered before, but the answers I found were old and things may have changed.
1. Can the EU model's BL be unlocked, and CM flashed?
2. Does flashing CM remove the EU model's audio limitation?
3. In your opinion - Moto Z Play or Axon 7?
Thanks for your input
Moto Z's battery is low. 2600mAh is not enough. I think you like custom roms. so don't buy Axon 7. I'm regret to buy because of there is no custom Rom. you can buy OnePlus 3 or 3T
1 - All models can be BL unlocked. If by CM you mean CyanogenMod, then I don't know about the EU (2017G) version, but you sure don't want to considering how incomplete it is right now.
2 - Last I checked all sound on CM was a mess, however you can flash mods to remove the audio output limitation the 2017G model has.
3 - Neither. If you're aiming for the price range of an A7 buy the OnePlus 3T instead.
It sounds like community development, and a stock-ish ROM matters to you, which is why I recommend the OnePlus 3T instead.
I bought an axon 7 since it seemed like zte would support indy developers. They didn't, I sold it to a friend, friend got pissed because of the lack of wifi calling and crap reception, zte doesn't honor the warranty for reception issues since they blame your carrier, had to take phone back or lose a friend. That said, watching the doublespeak from zte and their fans optimism has been hilarious
There are three models of the Axon 7.
1. A2017 - Chinese model - not bad. Haven't heard people complaining about it.
2. A2017U - North American model - I have this, I like it. CM13 still has a few bugs but once those get fixed the flood gates on custom roms will open up big time. It is a nice phone.
3. A2017G - European model - nothing but complaints. I have never heard one person on here say anything good about this model, and any possible complaint that can be made about a smartphone has been made with this smartphone by EVERYONE! AVOID THE A2017G MODEL AT ALL COSTS!
The A2017U is a good one, is 100u$s less than a Oneplus3T, Nougat is coming, battery and speed are just great.
You have the money? Go for the Oneplus3T, if not, think about the A2017U, not the European version

I was actually considering the Moto Z Play - that one has a 3500 mAh battery, and is considered to have among the best battery life. About ROMS - I'm not a flashaholic. I just need a stable, CM/AOSP based ROM (I don't use Google Services).
I can't/won't buy a Oneplus 3T. First of all, because it's insanely expensive on Amazon or locally; and also because, coming from a Oneplus X, I don't support Oneplus's practices (they abandoned the X after one update, which was a year late).

I definitely wanted the US model, but I can't buy it (U.S. Amazon doesn't ship to where I live). The 128GB/4GB Chinese model is available on AliExpress for cheaper than the normal EU model, so you're saying I should go for that?
I would say no. The Chinese model probably doesn't pick up your LTE bands in Italy. Just stay away from the A2017G model. There was a post here about getting the A2017U model shipped to Europe in the past. Don't know if it is still there though.

I actually live in Israel, and the Chinese model supports all the bands I need. That thread sounds interesting though, I'll look for it.
I have a A2017G and have nothing to complain about. You can install CM on this unit like all others U and chinese. I currently have the stock based rom from DrakenFX and the custom kernel BeastMode.
I am satisfied with that. Important for me will be the nougat update which will come to us this month.
I'm also using G model (Poland) and there's nothing wrong with it.

I must disagree, I have the A2017G and there is nothing to complain about.
I was also trying to decide between the Moto Z Play and the Axon 7. I chose the Axon 7 for the Quad HD screen (beautiful for reading or movies), the faster processor (see YouTube videos of the Antutu video tests on the Moto Z Play), and optical image stabilization. I didn't expect to care about the front-facing speakers, but they're a pleasure. Also the phone is smaller in the pocket, the Moto Z Play is huge with lots of space around the screen.
Pros for the Moto Z Play: front fingerprint sensor (the Axon 7's is very fast and saves space being on the back but I don't find it as convenient), up to 1.5x longer battery life (my "3250 mAh" battery is really 3050 mAh but I don't care because it still lasts me 24h under typical conditions), more stock-like OS, flat screen is easier to find a tempered glass screen protector.
Overall I'm very happy with the choice of the Axon 7 (rooted, lots of Xposed modules, no CM so far) coming from the OnePlus One.
As a moto x pure owner (xt1575, 2015 edition), this is my last motorola product. Since lenovo took over, the promise of steady updates is a lie. The device is all but abandoned. Supposedly android 7 will be released for it at some point but nothing definitive. As for MM updates, I believe the most current one includes the august 2016 security updates. Nothing more recent.
I think it's a crap shoot with either company. The A7 has it's 4 carrier support (albeit sprint hasn't certified it yet). Where as the moto z play is primarily a vzw phone with some lte bands of other carriers. Not sure if the Z play can be rooted/bootloader unlocked either as it's a vzw device.

I did go back from B08 to B03 and followed this thread instructions to root and unlock my bootloader: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-install-twrp-unlock-bl-flash-t3517379
If you ask me how I did go back from B08(The same version as you) to B03, I just downloaded the B03 update.zip from an mirror and installed it trough the phone's recovery as a update. If you get an error when trying to update to B03, you have to enable OEM Unlock in developer settings.
Hope I helped you a little bit. If you need further information, just ask.

Did you go back to B03? What error did you got? Give some more details. And please press the thanks button instead of writing it.
But also pm me and let's stay back to topic. I will try to help you there.
A friend of mine from Switzerland has received Nougat 7.0 on his S7 Edge.
He was not in the beta program before so i think all people will receive this.
I will post more pics from him as soon as i will receive them.
:good:
Due to the nature of test version, unexpected errors can occur.
so i think it might be a test release....
Screenshot seems very..... off
EDIT: Okay, I know why the screenshots look so shady. Googled the build number only to find out that they're from the Nougat Beta, and not an official release.
Check this out: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gal...ugat_beta_is_now_live_in_korea-news-21542.php
Look at the first screenshot.
Either you're an attention seeker, or your friend is trolling you.
Do the updates for android come for each country at different time? Like do some countriey get it faster than other?

Welcome to the world of Android updates.
The company releases the update in waves to unlocked phones.
If your devices is carrier specific it goes through your carrier first and then it becomes available for your device.
Well i jiat got it from repair. And before it was carrier specific but now they installed some poland firmware on it so i think its not carrier specifix anymore. Does that mean faster update?
Fake or?
I Am on btu CSC
Pff cant wait on Android nougat

Probably yes. It always depends on the carrier.
US carriers for example take way to long to update their devices.
That is Nougat BETA firmware. You or your friend are telling porkies so the fat lady can sing
And that text is not Chinese but Korean. So, Nougat is here and Hong Kong is now in Korea.
This dude again? Don't feed It, please...
I'm in Hong Kong but haven't got the update yet
So it's not his first rodeo

First his friend was from Hong Kong but The screenshot were from a korean device (korean characters). After It, he edited the OP and his friend magically moved to Korea. And now.....
No Nougat for my SM-G935FD unlocked international version with dual sim here in Dubai
this morning received nougat !!
For those who started getting the Nougat Update please also clarify if you were participating in the Beta Program or not.
I think I am downloading it now. The screenshot above was the same as the update I am downloading. I was not on the beta program and I am from the UK. Will update further once installed. Mine is unlocked international version.
Sammobile has confirmed Nougat launch in countries which had been part of the Beta program
Source: https://www.sammobile.com/2017/01/17/nougat-rollout-begins-galaxy-s7-galaxy-s7-edge-china-uk/
I did not participate to the beta program.
Currently I'm Slovakia after reading this thread I manually checked for updates and it is currently downloading a big update. (1291.19MB)
I have an sm-g935f and UK.
I still haven't got the update!
yeah its still rolling out, its just going painfully slowly for no good reason
Yeah in still waiting on my dual SIM unlocked.

Urgh
Still waiting sm-g935f
Read it got delayed due to a few bugs.
I'm in the Uk with a Sim Free S7 edge SM-G935F awaiting patiently.
Still waiting too
How come you guys don't want to flash through Odin?
I've read a few posts where performing actions to circumvent the natural Over The Air Nougat Update has caused various issues.
My s7 edge is stable on Marshmallow so I'm not prepared to affect that.
Oh, I did last night, everything's running great on my end
Nothing here in Brazil yet, although I'm using a custom ROM with Nougat btu version.
I do not have hopes in Brazilian Nougat for this month yet.
Hi Folks
Ive just picked up a pre-owned U Ultra, which is BNIB...
I bought it as Unlocked..
What is the latest Unlocked UK firmware and Google security patch?.
Thanks all
Allow me to answer, even though mine is a European unlocked single sim U Ultra...
Build #: 1.64.401.3
Security patch: 1st July 2017
Thank You friend.. Much appreciated for that, thats exactly what Ive got.. so thanks..
The reason I asked was when I look around the web and XDA all of the EU/UK updates state its still on 1.62.401.1.. I just wanted to check that someone hadnt installed a non-EU/UK rom.
So 1.64,, mustve been just the July security patch..
I know since the M8 / 9, HTC have done most of their updates over Google Play.. but July seems quite an old security patch for a 6 month old flagship device.
Thanks
You're welcome! I had the exact same question when I bought mine.
HTC is rather punctual regarding their updates. The only reason that can explain the security patch delay is the forthcoming oreo update. Fingers crossed...
Hi, my Samsung S7 Edge, SM-G935W8, use to get monthly updates up until a few months ago. It's a Rogers, Canadian carrier, phone but it' unlocked and I use it with Vigrin Mobile Canada. I use to plug it into my computer and use Samsung Switch to update, and occasionally I would get a OTA update but nothing since Aug. Is there something I can do to force a new update? I don't want to root the phone or go to a custom ROM as I use my phone for work, have it encrypted, use Android Pay and RBC Wallet, Secure Folder, and other Samsung apps that I would prefer to stay unaffected.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Same here, have a g935fd, stuck on august security patch. The only thing to do is keep calm and wait patiently for the updates
Sent from my S7 Edge using XDA Labs
I thought that the Samsung Switch program was suppose to be able to download/install updates as they became available from Samsung.
December's ending and i am still stuck on aug 1 security patch ... S7 edge SM-G935FD , region PAK.
Sent from my S7 Edge using XDA Labs
I suggest you root your phone and install one of the s8 or n8 ported ROMs, which include the newest security patches..
I know i can root and install custom roms with latest security patches, but the problem is that samsung sucks when it comes to updates and especially its way of ignoring some regions/countries totally while providing to some, it really needs to change its priorities.

You can search for listings with official firmware released by Samsung for your device model.
For example (am a new user so link restricted):
www sammobile com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935W8
There are guides on XDA for flashing official firmware. The usual caveats being:
1. Potential loss of data
2. If unbranded then technologies like VoLTE / 4G / RCS may not be supported
3. Scary if it's your first time. Be gentle, take your time, and read the guide
You can flash with Odin in Download mode without voiding warranty because it's signed by Samsung.
Since it's for work you probably have a backup, but if you want to retain your data you can flash your HOME_CSC instead.
Have you contacted your carrier for more info?
Is your device being controlled with MDM policies by your business/enterprise, i.e. managed inhouse?
It seems you use it in public venues so hopefully you are using a VPN or similar for your business.
Good luck!
Just got the update .. a hefty one
Sent from my S7 Edge using XDA Labs
New update and that too with V2 of bootloader. Its still to see how it effects on battery and performance, december security patch was indeed very good regarding battery and performance. V2 of bootloader suggests that maybe Oreo update is closer ..
