Redmi note 7 touch is super sensitive like all other users even after the latest 10.3.5.0 Indian update. Headphone wires when in contact with the screen can register touch. I tried to change the pointer speed and made the touch and hold delay to long but they were of no use. Xiaomi customer care or devs are reluctant to fix this. I sent this issue via the feedback app but nobody from the Xiaomi India team contacted me. There is no touch calibration option in the CIT menu either. I want to know whether there is a permanent fix for this issue or there is a custom rom that can totally calibrate the touch sensitivity problem.
theres no fix whatsoever to touch issues, until the moment at least... issues of the sort on the pocophone were fixed just a month ago

So this is a software issue and can be fixed via an update like the poco phone, isn't it ? Can you please confirm whether a custom rom and a custom kernel can help me fix this issue or not ?

poco issues were fixed thru firmware patches, i doubt kernel and rom would fix it.. btw my phone dont have ur issues it doesnt register touch with just a headphone jack, i have latency issues however on the edges of the screen just not as delayed as other reported.
i have the touch lag issues, but how could we go about speedying things up for this firmware patch?

do you think it could be possible to use the poco firmware patches to make a patch for our phone? i read that the poco affected with the issue where tianma screens with nvt-ts digitizer (just like me on the note 7)

someone reported it through the feedback option (poco btw) with a slowmo video properly documenting the latency and they were given a beta firmware patch directly from xiaomi to test. you could try reporting maybe they'll release faster for our device.

hey, i flashed a vendor firmware that eased the problem a bit, its better, its not perfect but i can live with it... if you're interested its fw_lavender_miui_LAVENDER_9.5.30_1cc18b679b_9.0
Yes touch is over sensitive on this phone. The screen just response when my finger hovers the screen, not touching it. I also have the slow response on edge issue and scroll delay. The touch response on this phone is just absolutely bad. I sent it back to the repair center and see if they can do anything to it. Will know tommorrow.

yeah latency issues are there. Scrolling webpages sometimes gets annoying and I make too many typos while typing fast.

This is question to moto g4 plus users running custom rom. Is anyone experiencing ghost touch after flashing custom rom?
I haven't unlocked my phone since it's unclear whether it is software specific problem or hardware specific problem
It's a hardware problem

As far as I am aware, there's no ghost screen burn. There's ghost touch, and screen burn,. You can almost correct the former with a change in RGB values. The latter can be reduced, but with a "Turbocharger", it will most definitely show up. Screen burns are present in one type of screen used in the G4 Plus, and ghost touches in the other.

It's a known hardware issue with a certain type of screen display. It will be there with pretty much any ROM. If it happens during charging, then you can minimize it by using an earthed charger, or by not using the phone at all (it charges pretty quickly, so it doesn't matter if you don't use it for that sacred time).
I suffered ghost touch on RR-MM & RR-N.
I was having the same problems. There was a burn screen problem. But I installed the Aospk extended rom v4.4 rom. I have no problem now thanks

I think the ghost touch problem occurs only while charging. Are you still in warranty? If yes then get the lcd replaced.

Sorry if I sound ridiculous, BUT WRONGGG! My Moto G4 Plus does the Ghost touch when IM NOT charging as well. The only solution I found, is keep brightness below half, and never turn on Adaptive brightness.
I have the same problem, the only thing that stopped it was deactivating adaptive brightness and keeping brightness low.
But if I had guarantee I would probably send it to costumers care
Same problem, I just always keep my brightness at 1/4 of the bar and it stops
Sent from my athene using XDA Labs
Thank you guys for your solution!
My father experimented one thing that whenever he charge mobile in the offline mode he is not facing this issue (I was facing this issue even the charger is not connected)
and about customer care, believe me, my brother has a terrible experience with those guys...they won't even solve the issue but they create new...My brother had to give mobile to private care due to this even the mobile was in warranty.
Interestingly, for me,the ROM also played a role(I might be wrong). In stock and 1 particular custom rom, I got freq ghost touches while charging. But, in another rom, I didn't get the problem even once(even when charging and using).
Btw, in all the ROMs, I kept the brightness the same.

Yup i think you are right. I hardly. Experience ghost touch in lineage os v14.1. But in resurrection remix i am not able to use my phone while charging. In r.r. battery too draining fastly at the rate of 1%/ min.
Hi guys, I visited service center before few hours today for the same issue and my experience with them was terrible. They said my warranty is void as body around screen is having (very small) dents (due to wear and tear). Does outer shell with small scars voids your warranty? So far I have been using phone with launchers other than stock one ( I prefer newly ported pixel 2 launcher, though I was using ported moto G5 launcher before) with adaptive brightness on and severity of this issue was negligible (though you'll feel issue while charging). As they have declined my warranty I am going to unlock boot loader. Fun Time.

Hi there, I faced same experience as your brother had faced. Their behavior clearly states these people don't want to correct there mistakes. As it is problem with panel we can't do much about it. Though try this, if it helps you a little. I am using rootless pixel 2 launcher by paphonb, works like charm (Changing default launcher helped me to some extent and I don't get frequent ghost touches even while charging).

adaptive brightness on, set brightness level to half. I am facing this issue only while phone is charging otherwise it runs smooth.

First of all I have a very good experience with service centres. I just told him that my screen is having traces of previous screen. He changed my LCD panel with chrome in just 15 min.. Bro try to visit a different service centre of different area. If your phone is still in warranty and they are claiming that your warranty is void then file complain on customer care of Motorola and file a complain too the consumer forum too.
A person in my area filled a report in consumer forum just because he get only 4 tablets instead of 6 . the company gave him 1000 rupees as punishment.
I have the same problem. But I get it only when I charge with my turbo charger. I just dont touch my phone when it is charging.

I have that charging ghost touch problem and that brightness problem too but furthermore it happens when I'm flashing files in recovery too! It's crazy can't control TWRP like that, doing anything doesn't stop that ghost touch in recovery, and literally anything gets pressed in settings, config etc screen, I hardly flashed rom and did reboot, any ideas on this?
I installed a special rom and I installed[KERNEL][Oct 24][3.10.107] Vegito 6.08/7.04 (Moto G4/G4 Plus). I installed a battery screen programa with a lock screen program, and now 99% of the ghost screen problem has disappeared. I use 100% at light brightness. respects.

Guys if any methods don't work you can switch off the mobile and charge it fully, then you won't face this issue (I was facing this issue even mobile wasn't connected to charger)
I tried it like a week and it worked Great.
Thank you all who replied.
Okay, I've done some observations on the scroll lag issues and here's what I know.
- It persists on 8.1 ROMs too
- It mostly affects custom ROMs
- Switching kernels does not fix it
- Max CPU and GPU does not fix it (even OC)
Here's my suspected causes:
- Our touchscreen driver is bad
- Our touchscreen panel is bad
- Included screen protector is bad (anyone have scroll lag without it?)
Tell me if you notice this too, but when I scroll with my finger in the top right edge, I get almost 0 lag when scrolling. Is it possible its the display sensitivity that isn't stable? Do you feel this too? Maybe its other areas of the screen too.
Please share your ideas and thoughts. We really want to fix this issue as the phone would be so amazing if it didn't lag EVERYWHERE.
I think it's a combination of both : bad touchscreen and bad driver's as it seems to affect both stock, Caf and Los . I did a test with an old Samsung note 4 an iPhone 5s and a Huawei p20 Pro and it seems that there are certain "gaps" in the panel that when in usage register touches with a certain latency . This and also the sub par refresh rate. Even the old iPhone/note had better touch accuracy under heavy load.
I guess this is the price you pay for a 150 euro phone. Some corner's will be cut.

Sorry for late reply. Not really hot spots or you could call them hot spots but the are in a H pattern across the display. Also touch accuracy is abysmal.
Now I've installed Flyme OS the problem still persists that and the screen becoming tottaly unresponsive. But the proximity sensor bug it's gone, so altleast that is a good thing.
If they don't fix altleast some of the bugs in 8.1 I'm goona smash this crap phone into a wall

You can replicate this lag 100% of the times with this "method", at least for me. Use your thumb with as much flesh touching the screen and then slowly drag your finger. You can notice the scroll lag in every direction.
Same with me, firstly, I thought it is bug of xiaomi rom, may be this will be fix with custom kernel and custom rom. But when custom rom came to mia1, try so many rom but laggy still there, really disapointed.
It is awkward that seem mia1 is the only xiaomi face with this issue. Redmi 5a - lowest price phone of Xiaomi is fine and MI5x same spec with mia1 doesn't have any complain about laggy scroll.

I discovered that if you have two fingers on the screen there's no lag. So use one finger and hold it, then start scrolling with your other thumb. 0 lag. It's gotta be a driver thing. I've been working on micro optimizing it but its gotta be something with the scanning frequency when there's only one finger. But frequency is a firmware thing and I dont think we can gen a firmware blob without a manufacturer tool. It's also possible it's a voltage thing (which I can set in the driver). I'll keep working on it but I think its definitely fixable.
Hey guys i dont know this problem, just bought one, does it easily notice?, how can i check it?

Multitouch bug fix by Google
This issue was to be fixed in June security update. However, Google decided to fix this in May security update itself. OEMs were supposed to merge these changes to utilize it. Now that we've already got May security update without the fix, the only way for X00TD to be rid of this bug is the June security update.
Oreo Multitouch bug
Me too, while playing ping. I thought multitouch problem
Yeah i am having this issue while using phone. Screen stucks and it keep doing up and down and just touch dont work at that time. I got serviced my phone two times but it still persist. At service centre they said there is no issues but in reality it has. Is it a defectIve piece i am using? I am distressed
I wonder do anyone else face this problem?
When i scroll through things, it seem to lag behind a bit. I also tried to compare it with other phones and this phone seem to have a much higher touch latency than the others.

Mine 4/64
Same problem. Very frustrating. RN 7 global version, 4/64gb
Yes, me too. Especially annoying when typing - keyboard is very laggy and driving me crazy.
I had the same feeling on my old crappy Mi A2 Lite. It was much better after switching to a custom Kernel (Butterfly Kernel).
Now I have the 128GB Global RN7 and touch responsiveness feels just fine. No problems at all.
what MIUI version you guys use?
some people who use miui 10.3.5 global rom have possible same problem with yours

What miui version are you on?
So far, my Global Version 3 day old RN7 on 10.3.5 doesn't seem to have bad touch latency.
Was nervous about that considering this phone is my first Xiaomi device.
So far so good.
Have you all tried using the old Touch Screen Booster app? Not sure if the apk is still on the Play store.
Try the app if you can. It fixes a lot of touch sensitive issues without root.
Won't make your phones touch response iPhone level smooth but it will fix whatever ailments you're having
I have the RN7 Global and not facing any of the problems people comment about the phone... No lags, no video rec problems, no battery drain, none of all...
My guess: We would face palm us hard if we knew what apps some people install...

Man... Sorry to hear.
Is the app the one that's got the neon green color icon?
If that doesn't work your digitizer could be defective or the update to 10.3.5 could have altered how your touch input functions.
If that's the case, you could also try both touch screen repair and touch screen calibration apps.
Unlike SGS, they're both paid apps in the app store that should help improve your touch response without root.
I used both on my honor 8 and can vouch they improve touch latency response on our phones

I also tried those and they say my original latency is around 47 ms, which is quite okay by this number, but it just doesn't really feel right. Everytime i scroll something, it just seem to lag behind quite a bit unlike other phones. Just tapping on things seems really fine though, no delay for that. And i also went to the store today and tested the demo there. I found out that the demo also have a similar problem. Can i conclude that this problem is not a defect for my phone?

Not sure.
1. Are you also on MIUI ver 10.3.5?
2. Was your touch response ever working fine beforehand and the latest update broke it?
3. What other phones are you comparing the RN7's touch response with?
For me I'll answer:
1. Yes... But I find then touch response the same vs the prior version of MIUI that was on my phone right before it updated to 10.3.5
2. See my response to #1
3. I'm comparing the touch to:
IPhone 6s(which is still the fastest touch response to date), Honor 8 which was great but with the apps above, touch latency/response improved and Galaxy S9+.
I find Redmi Note 7 is slower than our iPhone 6S, close to my Honor 8 with the apps mentioned in the previous post and on par with the S9+ I played with in store.
I found that bizzare since AMOLED screens typically have faster touch response vs IPS/LCD etc.
What are you guys seeing?
